requires following permissions on your android device.

approximate location (network-based)
Allows the app to get your approximate location. This location is derived by location services using network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine approximately where you are.

precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

change network connectivity
Allows the app to change the state of network connectivity.

allow Wi-Fi Multicast reception
Allows the app to receive packets sent to all devices on a Wi-Fi network using multicast addresses, not just your phone. It uses more power than the non-multicast mode.

connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
Allows the app to connect to and disconnect from Wi-Fi access points and to make changes to device configuration for Wi-Fi networks.

Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

receive data from Internet
Allows apps to accept cloud to device messages sent by the app's service. Using this service will incur data usage. Malicious apps could cause excess data usage.

activity recognition
Allows an app to receive periodic updates of your activity level from Google, for example, if you are walking, driving, cycling, or stationary.

It's a shame that iperf option does not allow to measure download speed as it is direction that most users care about. It requires only one flag in the command line (-R). Also iperf3 gives me more consistent results. This app is great and works well for quick tests in various scenarios but as a linux user I prefer iperf3 with a server on a OpenWRT and a magic iperf android client..

It really does a good job. Great email support! It shows both, Router to device speed and Internet speed. I highly recommend giving it a try.

This is the best app for cross platform LAN speed testing. I primarily use it to troubleshoot transfer speed problems over the WiFi/wired network. I bought the pro version because I wanted to support the developer (the free version already has all features I'd ever need). It was well worth the purchase. Keep up the good work! ☺

Best one I know of. Used for years yet haven't really scratched surface with nor fully understand most of capabilities. Just use to compare speed of connections. Can see all networks detectable, see other network connections and identify. Also will tell u if channel is crowded and which one to switch to. Not sure how well you can connect to router with. Via usb would be cool (thru pc or direct), gotta try that.

This was a great find for me. It allows me to test my phone-to-PC connection for using VRidge/GearVR with various configurations of wifi and USB tethering. It's quite a complicated app (inevitable given what it does), but once you figure it out it works very nicely.

Do not be mistaken, this app tests the wifi network, not the internet speed as others, and it does it very well. Highly recommend!

One more star for more settings: remember last test type or user defined initial test or disabled. A black theme with white text as an option would be nice. It works well, just needs a little refinement to make it awesome.

Very nice tool. A couple of suggestions: Make your error messages show for a trifle longer. Be more forgiving of SMB path entry, i.e. if someone enters a valid SMB address, such as preceding \\, or even full syntax with passwords, populate the proper fields automatically, or simply truncate the extra information and hop to next entry field. SMB browse. SMB error message for a bad path wrongly states that it's a user/password error (when, in my case, I simply entered the address with \\ at the front - habit). Show example with friendly name rather than ip if browse inconvenient to implement - easier to remember. Realize this feedback related to my own errors, but it might make it more user friendly (other than the misapplied error message). Not that it isn't very user friendly already. Have an option for Megabytes/sec versus just bits? Have an appropriate default block size as a default for SMB (and others) rather than an information bubble. I found the app very useful for what it does. Nice little server ability between two phones with dual install (family library compatible - ty). Recommend to those who would find the data useful - well implemented.

Used the free version to check out various options with my home network. Very easy and intuitive to use. Well worth donating to the author, even though the ads on the free version are not intrusive. Having said that, reduced to 4 stars as the pro version doesn't seem to work in landscape mode, but the free version does! The pro version should have all the features of the free one! UPDATE- This problem now fixed. Very good response from the developer!

Very useful app. Simple to use. Yet, has enough options to configure more advanced testing. Now, with no ads. Its perfect. No more command line. Dont have to figure out different os or apps. Works across windows, linux, android. Smart and easy. Read the directions or ask the dev if you need help. Once you understand it. You will see just how fast your network really is. Plz dont leave a bad rating if u don't understand it. Just ask for help. If I can do it. You can!

Without installing a second app on another phone or your PC this app is useless...sorry I paid for it.
