Great Idea! I use old apps, but I couldn't get this to work. I followed instruction but found them vague. Maybe it's over my head. So I just avoid the update prompts. Wish it had worked, or I could figure it out.

It tries to create a valid signature and it works sometimes. Lately it has been causing an apk that was working to stop working after re-signing, even when I had left its contents exactly the same.

I've suggested users use this app for my scratch2apk emulator. It's quick and easy to set up. Ian Mcdonald, sounds like after un zipping the APK you have rezipped at the wrong level. Try going into the folder you want to zip, select all file and zip from there (rename the zip to whatever afterwards)

Great app! Does exactly what I need. For casual users who don't want a particular app to update, move the uninstalled apk to /sdcard/Download/, select the file using "CHOOSE IN/OUT", for "Key/Mode:", choose the "testkey" Key, and "Sign the File". Next, install the file and it will not automatically update.

This is one of those 1 star apps that could so easily be a 5 star app. The difference is the discrepancy between an app that doesn't work at all and one that does exactly what it's supposed to. ZipSigner consistently produces packages that the system complains it cannot parse, so obviously they can't be installed either. That makes ZipSigner, well, completely useless, unfortunately. I'm not aware of anything else like it, however, so I'm hoping the developer will emerge from the shadows one day to give the app a much needed update and fix its problems. If that were to happen, my rating would probably quadruple.

(3.4) Works great! Do NOT let the fact that this program was abandoned in 2013 worry you. Let's say that you want to open an existing apk (as a zip), edit it's contents, re-zip it, & re-name it from zip to apk. Now install it. PARSING error?! YOU SON OF A...!!! Run ZipSigner (read = this thing), choose that re-zipped apk as input, click the "Sign the file" button, & install the SIGNED version of your edited apk. (You'll need a different program (or experience) to EDIT an un-zipped apk's contents.)

Tired if getting updates for certain apps, this is the best way to mitigate the issue. Modifying the Play database is only a temporary fix, this on the other had is permanent. Great app

It's as simple as choosing a file and waiting through a manifest generating process. I've tested it with a renamed ZIP made using ES File Explorer. Try this today and customize Google Play apps without rooting!

To modify an apk, you just need to use es file explorer, rename the apk to zip and extract it. You can now manipulate the apk file when it is unzipped. When you are done, just recompress it, sign it with zip Sign and you can install it. It also works to prevent Google play from updating your apps.

When you download a apk from your web browser sometimes it has a error that says that you can't open/download it, that's were ZipSigner comes in. Then like magic you can open/download the apk.

When I sign my recoveries or anything else to use in stock recovery it don't work say invalid argument footer missing and a few other errors thought the point was to sign any file including Ota updates/stock recoveries but I have NEVER successfully flashed a signed . Use a file or app manager to save an installed app as an apk, and Google Play store will still try to update it -- unless you re-sign it with test keys.
