Compared to google play music it is quite substandard. 1) Lacks a bunch of features the previous system had like saving a queue as a playlist. 2) The algorithm can be a bit random when doing the auto play. For instance while listen to heavenly a power metal band it would sometimes transition to some random country band because of name similarity?? Really. 3) I normally use this either as a background tab for listening to music while I work or in the car. I don't need to see the videos when it pulls from the youtube library, and I don't appreciate it forcing them down my throat, if I want to watch a video I will go to youtube. So yeah 1 star is extreme but in comparison to its predecesor is really subpar which is unfortunate.

apk Edit: 1st April 2021 - this recently began draining battery a fair but more than usual, sort it out please 👍🏻 also, what's with the inability to download playlists to devices, as opposed to just the app. It costs me £12 per month fgs 🙄 Excellent, can't fault it really. Although if your paying for a music streaming service you should be able to download the songs to your phone, not just the music app itself.

download Coerced, shook down like it's time I give up my milk money. Having to hear an ad between every song wasn't enough, unable to leave the app didn't do it, the old free 30 day " un " trial wasn't working so just kill em with annoying kindness and stop playing every 4 songs just see " would you like to continue watching videos ?" Fu*k you I was on a ladder twenty five up trying to listening to music.

mod apk I am really disappointed in this app. I pay for this service and it is terrible since the forced switch from Google Music. The app doesn't play automatically anymore when my Bluetooth connects to my car. I have to open the app and press play, and if I close the app then the music stops. Google Music didn't have these issues. When I choose to shuffle my "Likes" it plays the same 10 songs or so over and over again. Get it together, y'all.

app Play Music was really good, not perfect but a solid contender for streaming music. Like all good things Google killed it and promised us YT Music was just as good. Hey, they even used the same development team! But it's not as good, it's not good at all. In fact, it couldn't suck any worse if Google had brought in a team of consultants to show them how to suck. Even Amazon Music is better, it sucks that bad. It has convinced me to finally shell out some money subscribe though, to Spotify.

    - apps on google play Complete garbage! Far inferior to Google Play Music. Not able to edit song or album data so all of my songs and albums that were uploaded with wrong or missing data are impossible to find. Google Play made that easy. Also - when I put songs in queue and leave the app, it doesn't remember where I was most of the time, so I have to reselect my songs and start over. Add the constant nagging to pay for a subscription and, well, it's nearly useless.

دانلود A complete mess. No where near the now dead play music app. I had to transfer all my music over and it is just a joke. No structure, albums cannot be tagged or grouped, I am left completely unable to listen to what I want. And if you create a playlist with your own music, the greedy chaps from Google will add advertising. A huge step backwards,. Shame.

youtube music stream songs and music videos premium apk This app is a joke. It just completely shut down and wouldn't play any audio, even though my device's audio is on and the videos still play. We NEED Google Play back. That app was a whole lot better than this garbage. Also I have the 'Premium' version, and the only thing it did was take away the constant ads and pop-ups. That's it. Nothing else. There's more I wanted to say, but I'm running out of space. Youtube needs to pull itself together or I'm finding a different company to stream my music.

تحميل Regardless of my previous review I still enjoy this app. Took a bit to get used to. When looking for a song or a special "remix" it is easy to find. As long as you can find it on YouTube you will get it on this app. Spotify and the others not so much. More independent music available and that makes my library more unique and personal. And you don't need to pay unless you want the extra features which are understandable. Cheers!

It is a very bad app. It's very difficult to use such that you have to go online to search for some of its functions. -It can't warn you when a song is being duplicated in a play list. -It is very difficult to delete songs you no longer need. -It is very slow to play a song, it may take up to a minute to play a selected song. -The app always reminds you to open your data on your phone even if you already downloaded the songs.... Google Play Music was far much better than this joke.

I would give it 0 stars if I could. I transferred all of my music from google play music months ago. When I tried to find them today they weren't there. I could understand loosing all of my music if I hadn't transfered my library but I did. Not sure if it's just a bug or what but I'm pretty sure I just lost 100$ worth of music to this app being bugged.

  12. Jake Zoljan-avatar

    Jake Zoljan

All the songs I transferred from Play music aren't assigned to their albums so I can't play the songs I like from the album, or search for songs by album. Also, the transfer deleted a bunch of my songs for no reason. On top of that there's a fair bit of music that doesn't exist on this app that was on play music. It's somehow worst than play music. The only reason you should use this app is if you wanted YouTube premium and wanted to save money not paying for Spotify.

  13. La Sourlemon-avatar

    La Sourlemon

I've listened and discovered a plethora of music in my 2 years with YouTube music. I recommend my friends because they always ask what music app I'm using. I find it easier to navigate, and 9/10 I can always find what I'm looking for. My only problem is that sometimes my liked songs disappear out of a Playlist only to reappear the next day. YouTube music has been my archive for anything I want to hear.

  14. Patrick Shemwell-avatar

    Patrick Shemwell

It's great with premium the way I use it, but if you don't have premium it's pretty much unusable. Shuffling isn't the best, a lot of times it just plays the same few songs any time you shuffle a playlist. One thing I would like them to add is an option on songs the can let me remove it from any of my playlists without me having to scroll through it and find the one song I'm looking for.

  15. Zack Smit-avatar

    Zack Smit

Can't search your liked music! Even when you are in your downloads. Random button is white when on and slightly less white when off. Random button resets when it feels like it. Random algorithm is not very good. Focus on your more recent music and resets each time you close the app so you never get to listen to older songs you liked from months ago. Now it won't change into portrait mode at all. I would not use this if it wasn't for getting rid of the ads on YouTube.

  16. TheBlazingBlade-avatar

There should never be an app that makes you wait for music you have in your own phone. With Google play music, there was no waiting, no need for internet, no NEED to wonder if you can listen to YOUR music within 5 minutes because it was on your phone. This app is an embarrassment, and I can't believe I am forced to pick other apps with ads just to have a chance to listen to MY music however I please. Also the app somehow copied almost ALL my music so I had 2 of my songs. Don't download this app.

  17. Sabarivel Janarthanan-avatar

    Sabarivel Janarthanan

Why is it so big a problem for Google to make an app that plays only audio without video? One has to opt the 'song' version every time. Also, the option to play only music without video is completely missing in the Android TV version of the app. You tube probably sees the videos as a plus. But please understand we would like to go to Youtube to watch videos. Not on a music app. Please take time to understand why Amazon and Spotify exists if you want to be their competition.

  18. Maho911-avatar

I'd rate this lower if I could. Not only does it take minutes for it to load device files for your songs you already own, you can't even buy individual tracks for personal listening. It also won't automatically play the next tracks unless you have it open. Furthermore, it always opens with an ad to ask you to upgrade. Then music randomizer only selects from a small range if you start at the top. Finally, the music transfer tool has completely botched its job, grabbing remixes of songs I owned.

  19. Marcelo Vargas-avatar

    Marcelo Vargas

Horrible. That's the best description of this app. I miss play music so much. This app can't play the music on my library. I tried all the workarounds the support asked me to try and nothing. They make it seem like it's an issue with my phone, but it isn't. It's the app. So, if you plan on ever being without internet, know that you will be without music if you are using this app.

  20. Storm Angelus-avatar

    Storm Angelus

Wish there were a way to just cut out artists in particular instead of just songs. I just don't like some artists and I hate that because they're in the same genre of music I'm listening to, they get played - and while I'm driving, so I can't thumbs down the song! Also, need a voice activation for this. "Okay, YouTube..."

  21. Jonathan Grant-avatar

    Jonathan Grant

This app is terrible compared to Google Play Music (no longer available). Especially when it comes to Android Auto integration. Hardly any of my library displays when using the app within Android Auto. The only way to get anything out of the (my estimate, 80%) rest of my library, is to start playing it outside of Android Auto then reconnect. This isn't something that is easily done safely while driving. Google obviously hadn't fully finished this app integration before closing down Google Play Music, and it shows. Google, please update this app. You are going to kill someone, by making them take their eyes off the road to back out of Android Auto just to play something that SHOULD be easily accessible via the Assistant., or at the very least via the Android Auto app.

  22. Brandon Dalton-avatar

    Brandon Dalton

Garbage, I want google music! First thing is that the ads are overbearing. Second, even if I wasn't to buy music I have a hard time figuring out where I can. Three, you can't buy music, you have to subscribe to the music service to get full enjoyment out of this app. Put simply, this was googles attempt to suck money out of google music's base. I'm switching to another service. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

  23. elena-avatar

overall, love the app. the only thing I would complain about is not having the possibility of searching for a song in your playlist. once your playlist overpasses 500 songs it gets quite difficult to find the one you are looking for. a searchbar would be a great addition and would make my time spent on the app so much more enjoyable.

  24. Johnson Grady-avatar

    Johnson Grady

Garbage. Simply does not work. The Play/Pause icon doesn't stay synced. Basic stuff like Shuffle does not shuffle, it just opens the Liked Songs playlist to a "random" song (almost always the same song) and then plays through the playlist in order. A known bug with no fix. When opening a long playlist, it will load about 25 songs and then just stops trying to load anymore. If you get to the end, it stops even if there are 100 more queued. It's hot trash, you can do better and so should Google.

  25. Matt Hume-avatar

    Matt Hume

I miss the old Google play music app. This one is very spotty if you want to save playlists offline. Songs will not work. The music recommendations are not very useful, and it tends to search youtube for music and play whatever it finds first, not necessarily the album version of a song. I would go back if I had the option.

  26. Joseph Hortch-avatar

    Joseph Hortch

I have never had a problem with this app, always running in my home, car, or phone when working out. Music not only by artists but by fans as well and some music that I have not been able to find anywhere else. I can create and share, if I want, playlists and download them to my phone for offline listening. I am very satisfied with this app.

  27. Sumner Lambert-avatar

    Sumner Lambert

Terrible. I don't even know where to begin, but they are clearly trying to push off users who have existing music collections. That being said, even if you bought your music from google...the experience would be almost just as bad. This is especially annoying for offline play which requires you to download tracks one by one (no saving albums because you can't even view your own library BY albums, it just goes artist>tracks....

  28. Ignacio Curiel-avatar

    Ignacio Curiel

Constantly reports as being offline. Unable to edit playlists on the fly ( if a playlist is already being played and I choose another track to add to it as "playa next", it'll be added to the end of the queue. When I choose a playlist from my library to be played randomly, the app will add only a small fraction of tracks. Example: from a list containing 4900+ tracks, it will show/play only 30 tracks. If I scroll to the end of the list, I can see one of those never ending thngys going round and

  29. Antony Muller-avatar

    Antony Muller

Never will be as good as some of the other ones that have tried. unfortunately the biggest issue that no one will ever address is that the shuffle function doesn't actually shuffle. If you want to shuffle you got to hit the shuffle button instead of the play button and then that'll only play a good 40 songs before it decides that's the end.

  30. Cheesy Ham-avatar

Ever since I upgraded to android 11 on my galaxy s10 and s20, I have noticed 3 MAJOR BUGS: 1. YTM music skips when I open any other apps on my phone. 2. Music stops playing if I turn off my screen. It resumes once I turn back on the screen. 3. The information for the song in the notification bar doesn't update. I can't seek throughout the song, pause /resume either. If I force close the app, problems 2 and 3 will resolve for a few minutes, but the problem comes back after a short while.

  31. J O'Sheridan-avatar

    J O'Sheridan

Long story short, this app is nowhere near as good as Google Play Music, and the fact that they attempted to pass this off as it's predecessor is both sad and ridiculous. There are numerous features missing from GPM that haven't been added to this app despite the fact that it has been around for multiple years, and it still is as disorganized and confusing now as it will most likely be 5 years from now. Google, for a multi-million dollar company, you sure like to cut corners on app development..

  32. Jay Coleman-avatar

    Jay Coleman

I really loved this app but it stopped randomly says I'm "offline" for no reason. Even when I'm connected to strong wifi signal, of even when I'm using my phones internet 😑. Also, the cast feature was removed and that was the best thing about the app. Not being able to cast to my TV directly from the app means is not even worth downloading 😒. An this is inconsistent, because sometimes the feature pops up.

  33. Gabe Eller-avatar

    Gabe Eller

I don't have enough space to voice all the problems. It's not the same as GPM, not even close. So many basic features are missing, even after they forced us onto the app. If they were trying to slim down the dev teams, they should've gotten rid of YouTube music which was vastly inferior which they knew. It's stuff as simple as playing a radio station and getting the same 20 songs regardless of how many times you click refresh. Once it locks in those songs, it's all you will ever get.

  34. Tyler M-avatar

    Tyler M

Like many users, I was using Google Play Music prior to it being killed off and transfer to this app. I like to purchase my music so I can listen offline, something I could do on Google Play Music, but not here. If I want to listen offline I need to pay $10 to upgrade my account to "download" albums. Without the upgrade, I get ads on the music even if I downloaded the album through the app. It's a massive downgrade from Google Play Music and in no way a replacement like Google keeps saying.

  35. Rem Houser-avatar

    Rem Houser

Can't even play music with the screen off unless you pay. Bring back Google Play Music. What was the point is getting rid of it? It worked great. Yt music doesn't shuffle well or really at all. I also can't download radio stations with yt music. I take multiple long flights each week and have to download playlists before instead of the radio stations. The song selection is poor too. Why bother with this app? Useless.

  36. Pale Moogle-avatar

    Pale Moogle

I am so glad I bought over 100 songs on google play now I've got %30 of my songs MIA, and of the other %70 which I own, only half of them can be downloaded, listened to with the screen locked, and played without adds. This is a terrible app! I wish I had never used google for a music source at all! Imagine buying something and the cashier takes part of it, damages another part of it, gives you the rest, and says they won't do that next time if you pay thier membership fee. Fricken trash!

  37. Devin Stewart-Mayert-avatar

    Devin Stewart-Mayert

As a premium user, I'm severely disappointed. Every time I have my phone locked while playing music, it will play the whole of one song, maybe two if I'm lucky, before it quits entirely. I honestly can't listen to more than two songs in a row unless I'm using my phone, which renders this app completely useless to me.

  38. John Southworth-avatar

    John Southworth

YouTube music is completely useless. It does nothing that Google Music did. You can't automatically upload music, you can't listen to playlists you create using Google Assistant, you can't even search for music of a certain genre. You would be insane to use this service. All the positive reviews are from Google employees paid to post them. I wish I could give it zero stars.

  39. DaVaughn Brockett-avatar

    DaVaughn Brockett

Apple Music, if you're wondering where you can find a superior Play Music replacement and it's less expensive, and you don't have to pay to play your own songs on your phone, and the Playlist, albums and songs are all separated and placed neatly in the app, you can cast with no issue, screen-off play, and it even let's me play songs that aren't on YouTube, go figure. I won't say anything about this doo doo dumpster fire of an app. Until they mend it, Googles music ecosystem is dead to me.

  40. Dinavian Grant-avatar

    Dinavian Grant

I absolutely hate that I cannot listen to the artist I selected continuously. Youtube music turns everything into a mixed play list. This causes me to stop what I am doing, and hit the skip button to listen to the artist I want. Why is this app doing that. If i picked Sam Cooke, that means I don't want to listen Al Green, the temptations, and whoever else the app decides I should hear. In that case, what's the difference in using this instead of Spotify's free version.

  41. Tyler Credille-avatar

    Tyler Credille

Zero stars if possible. Terrible experience. My google play music is separated from my device files. Songs take forever to load considering they have already been downloaded in the past. When I have songs on shuffle, it'll shuffle the same 10-12 songs back to back and completely avoids all my songs. Give me the option to download all my music to my device all at one time and not one at a time. Terrible compared to Google Play Music.

  42. Sam Goodspeed-avatar

    Sam Goodspeed

It's ok. The lack of ability to edit song info for uploaded tracks is a real bummer. Feel like it's harder to get to music than it was in play and I end up listening to the same last forty things in a row rather than exploring my whole library equally more often than I would in Play. Integration with any song in youtube is pretty nice though, and the interface's look and feel and responsiveness is improved. Still wonky with android auto. It's fine.

  43. Brittany Barker-avatar

    Brittany Barker

Awful! Forced to switch to an inferior product, why? What ever happened to "if it ain't broke..."? Can't upload music you've purchased elsewhere or from old cd's. Can't sort. Can't organize. Trying to find new music in a genre other than hip-hop, pop, rock or country? Forget it. Why can't autoplay be disabled? The interface with sonos is abysmal. This has replaced fun with frustration and annoyance, Google should be utterly ashamed of this product.

  44. Holly Weitze-avatar

    Holly Weitze

The play music app was much more user friendly. It would be nice if the regular YouTube playlist of videos was not included on the music YouTube playlists. It's really annoying going through both lists having them combined when most all regular YouTube doesn't work with/on the youtube music anyway. Very frustrating. It would be nice if that was fixed. The layout is frustrating. Bot user friendly at all.

  45. Phoenix The Dragon-avatar

    Phoenix The Dragon

I'm constantly having issues with the shuffle button not staying on. There's no way to use Search inside playlists, library, artists, or albums. Also, a large portion of lyrics are inaccurate. Why have a dedicated lyrics page, if the sources you pull from don't care about what they do. I'd reccomend signing a deal with Genius and pooling from their site

  46. John Revis-avatar

    John Revis

One star for a number of reasons. You can't play non-purchased music without getting ads and keeping the app open or paying for a subscription. Further, you don't have the option to purchase albums from the app like with google play music. These two issues in combination take away many of the reasons you even use a music app. Retiring google play music was possibly the worst marketing choice they could have made in regards to music. This app is trash.

  47. John Lee-avatar

    John Lee

There's nothing about this that I enjoy. Any songs I've downloaded after transfering everything from Google Play don't appear in the "Songs" category in my library. I have to go to "Downloads" in order to play them. Also, with Google Play, you could download a song over 4G without having to connect to Wifi. YouTube Music, you can't. Now I have to pay monthly to listen to MY music? Didn't have to do that with Google Play

  48. Matthew Brown-avatar

    Matthew Brown

Seriously one of the worst music apps. I've given it a chance for months now, but Google Play Music was so much better. This app is super glitchy and constantly stops playing, often at the start of the new song. Plus kids can't use it, so my 9 year old went from having access to lots of music he liked with Google Play Music to no music app...which might be thr worst part. Do better Google.

  49. Moses Verdin-avatar

I can't search for songs when my network connection is off! This is a big problem because I go camping in areas without LTE reception and I lose the ability to find songs quickly. Google Play Music let me do this but not YouTube Music. PLEASE create a dedicated offline mode for this app! Update: Since my last review I need to add that this app has been incredibly slow to load my likes playlist and is having great difficulty downloading songs. I expect better from Google. Play Music was better.

  50. Daniel Ripley-avatar

Used Google play music before this. I liked it, even loved it sometimes. This app I do not like. Nothing about it is intuitive. I just want a music player, that quickly let's me access and organize my music. The recommendation features are fine but I feel like they are prioritized over my library and playlists. It also messes up simple things like shuffling or anything while chromecasting

  51. Dorukhan-avatar

Still getting "Song is unavailable" error. Please fix the issue; I really don't want to switch to lets say Spotify, but this is so infuriating to deal with. The same song is available on Youtube but not on YT Music. Even the original uploader's music doesn't play on, but instead, restricts the musics; hence, there is no way to listen the indeed available music. This has been almost a 3 year long issue. Come on YTMusic team :/

  52. Matthew Holt-avatar

    Matthew Holt

Forced to switch to this from google Play Music which was much better. This constantly decides to stop playing randomly while I have a playlist on shuffle. Speaking of the shuffle, it sucks because it always plays the same order, and repeats songs. So dissapointed with this transition. I've switched back to Spotify now, but I come back to YouTube Music because of all of my uploads that I had from google plays database. Only reason I still use it.

Not as easy to navigate and use as the old google music, user interface 5/10, sound quality has 7/10, alot of songs are very low volume or quality or both, while others are great. The inconsistency ia annoying, but not as annoying as navigate the interface to add a song to a playlist or get to the album. Aong/music availability 8/10, lots to play from. Not a bad app, but definitely not a great app. But it came with ny over priced youtube subscription so i use the f*** out of it lol.

Update: While I've gotten used to it to it to some degree, I still miss Google Play Music. I can't stand the comingling of video and sound recordings. Way worse than Play Music! The album names don't line up with the correct songs, they're one behind. Shuffle doesn't work properly and will only shuffle through 5-6 songs before repeating. Interface isn't as user friendly and you can't add a full album to a playlist, you have to go song by song. GPM cost less per month and was 1000 times better than this! Why kill off an amazing app and replace it with one created by first graders!?

I have read the other reviews and I agree completely Google play music was perfect the way it was. We were assured that YouTube music would be the same. Ideally it is wider variety of music you can look up and play and videos and stuff BUT the simple things is what made Google play music so amazing. 1. First and foremost the shuffle. It is very broken and previously stated by others. 2. Sleep timer. Where is it? Gone? Start by fixing the little things to win us back thank you !

Very unintuitive and constant intrusive reminders - Every time I start it, I'm asked if I want to buy a new subscription, it doesn't resume in the car, navigating through my playlist is difficult and it's just not as good as the Google play music app. I will be working out how to migrate off this as soon as I can.

I downloaded YouTube music less than a year ago and it's been fine most of the time, however recently they gave me a free trial of YouTube premium that I never asked for and then I downloaded all of my liked songs but once my free trial ended I didn't get any of the songs that I downloaded. Talk about a waste of downloads if you can't use them.

Exceptionally terrible as of late. Been using the service since it was google music, and though I got use to the new features and what not, but it constantly crashes, won't play the next song unless I have it open and on the screen. Paying $10 a month for this service and I loved it when it works. Sadly, it doesn't.

This was a terrible switch. All my music files are disorganized. Albums are together but not the playlists that I painstakingly created previously in Google Play. I cannot favorite songs to curate new lists, especially for songs that I download. Cashed songs vs. Downloads, now taking up tons of space on my phone. Terrible. I've been a Google fan your years, but this is enough to make me switch back to iMusic. Wasn't even given a choice not to switch. Beyond disappointed.

Likes disappear randomly, making my "liked music" autoplaylist shrink daily. The data is also not stored locally, so if you're offline none of your music shows thumb ratings at all. That doesn't matter much though since the app won't load the menu bar that allows access to downloaded music unless you're connected to the internet, proving undeniably that this app was designed to chase off the remains of the Google Play Music customer base so they can stop "wasting" hosting space on music files.

Getting worse. Constant crashes (Android even recommended putting it to sleep). Clearing data/cache will probably kill device music. Still no ability to use music d/l'd to device only (like Google Play Music used to). Don't want to constantly use data stream. Library searching is awkward at best, and cannot play artist track list without shuffling (would like to hear full library, by album, in order).

This app just doesn't work very well. It freezes while playing music that supposedly is downloaded. It takes 5 minutes to access my music stored on my phone. When I connect my phone to a Bluetooth device, it always skips on the next song. The Playlist management is not very good, it sometimes randomly removes songs (I guess it loses rights to them, maybe? But a notification would be great). You cannot mix songs from their service with songs you have on your phone. There is no sleep timer.

  64. DARLEK MASTER-avatar

Okay, failed in all the same places that Google play music did and more! Such as even less music queue control (can't clear queue) no stop after current track, it hard to tell which is your/device library and what it online. Basically if you don't want to stream everything don't use but if you look on YT for new music or to check out a album before you buy it great for that but useless as a day to day player for those who don't have a data or patience to stream everything. 😞 I miss GPlayMusic.

I do not appreciate being forced to switch to the youtube platform. I use this app when working in the office, due to telework and COVID I didn't realize I was being forced to switch. I got a singular email telling me I had two weeks to transfer my library. I didn't see it in time. The app itself is not as astetically pleasing. It constantly asks me to upgrade to premium. There isn't a downloads only function like play had. There are advertisements! Music with screen off=paid. Recommend Spotify.

Transitioning from Google's Play Music at first was concerning. However, there are many features I have grown to really appreciate. The automatic playlists that are built around what you have listened to at different times has been great. The recommendations for what you might like is also much improved. Another area, though I was surprised is it's nice to have direct links to YouTube (if you actively use that service). Overall, I have been impressed with the app and look forward to what's next.

Really a long way to go to make it any good. Can't simple things like loading a playlist and shuffling it. Just an unintuitive poorly designed and implemented mess. It is several years behind Play Music in features and functionality. Also, video and music are two entirely different things. Now I have to figure out how to unlike every YouTube video I ever have liked so it doesn't pollute my music. Who ever thought this was a good idea should be fired and never allowed around software again.

100% my favorite music streaming app! Youtube music has a lot more songs then other music apps I used. But the biggest problem with YouTube music is at times the music just stops playing. You have to go into the app and play it again and like 5-10 mins later it stops playing again. It happens 1-6 times hope they get that fixed, but I recommend the app all the way!

  70. B Dor-avatar

Needs an option to set the default to "play next" or "add to queue", rather than delete hundreds of songs because I bumped my screen while searching for new music. An option to save a queue as a playlist would be nice. Also, easy access to music history past one week, please? Premium features? Randomly stops playing or goes into offline mode. Randomly replaces queue (related to offline?). Can not use personal files in playlist from app. Quite clunky and disappointing after Google Play Music.

Ok, but can be better. Example there is no sleep timer, often my downloaded list won't sync if song were added through youtube, sometimes songs just suddenly get removed so you can't listen to it offline, you have to delete it and add it to the playlist again. Also asking google assistant to play one of the playlist also doesn't work. So A lot to work on, especially the basic feature sleeptimer. Half yearblater still no changes, yet ask me to give them a rating

If you enjoy music, well thought user interfaces, podcasts, or just apps that function properly you will NOT use this app. I'm still using it is because of my playlists (which YT Music DOESN'T let me pick which ones are downloaded, the only options for downloading are its absolutely stupid "smart downloads" "feature" which will download even when I've selected "only over wifi") and YT premium. It doesnt play unless it's the last thing open on my phone before locking. And constantly crashes.

I love being able to switch between song and video easily. Some switches don't work though because there are 2 different songs but only 1 video is chosen. Creating playlists from queues is greatly missed. New music recommendations do feel more targeted than just what's popular, but they can still be defined a bit more. I find that some things I'd be interested in are closer to the bottom of the list. Overall no major complaints, just a couple additional features and tweaks needed.

App is great if you are paying the $9.99 monthly fee to get rid of ads and play downloaded songs while your phone is locked or you're using other apps. Complete waste if time if you don't pay. I love this app I wish I could download this app on my TV because to my knowledge, I cannot modify/cleanup/organize any of my awesome library of music!. Horrible replacement for Google play. The fact that your own downloaded library is basically non existent in the app is a huge disappointment. Theres no searching for your old stuff and it also seems despite having done the transfer from the old app I'm missing more than half of my old songs. In addition if you have Android auto for your car youtube music hardly works and it's almost impossible to play your old music. They need to fix this Android users and pronto.

Edit: downloading And playing music offline is STILL pretty sketchy compared to play music, as it's been That way for months I've dropped the rating down to two stars (march update didn't fix it), If you don't use offline mode or you have very few songs in your downloaded play lists you might not notice (Orig: It mostly works exactly like Google play music did as long as you don't want to use landscape mode on your phone which remains oddly broken, and has been since the first release....)

The Google Music app says that all the best things about Google Music are moving to YouTube Music. So I guess that means I can purchase music from the app, listen to my library with the phone screen off, and easily maneuver app right? Nope. Your library is a jumble, you can't always play with the screen off, and there is no purchasing or download options for music I want to buy. This is JUNK! Please bring back Google Music. As soon as I did though, I started a free premium trial without any confirmation or warning and no obvious way to cancel it. I've done some googling around and found others have had the same experience and was assured I wouldn't be charged if I haven't given my credit card info directly, so no harm done, but finding that answer was kinda distressing and the experience was off puting.

Horrible replacement for Play Music. As the default music player for Android it's plagued with pop-ups pushing you to pay $10 every time you open it, upgrade to family plans, start trials, on and on and on. You aren't even allowed to download the music you uploaded in the past for playing offline without starting a monthly billing program. For a company founded on the ideal of "do no wrong" Google has seriously dropped the ball on this one. Bring back Play Music, this is garbage.

I seriously can't stand this money grabbing scheme by Google. I had multiple Playlists with 1,000 songs on google play music, all downloaded so that I could listen whenever, wherever. But now I have it downloaded through this app and it's worthless when it just tells me I'm offline, and won't work. If you have limited service, it's horrible. Scrolling is slow. Organizing playlists takes forever. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Also I can't close the app without it stopping the music, why???

  85. Mariah Barling-avatar

Google Play music was so much better. Youtube will randomly stop a song, or the app will crash. Can't really reach over and mess with the app when I'm driving. The problem hasn't stopped, even when the app is current on updates. People pay for this service. Fix the issues, or make it free.

  86. Rodrigo Ruezga-avatar

this app has some issues that could be solved easily but somehow are still around: playback often crashes due to connection even if you downloaded the playlist and asks if you want to go to downloads, I mean, isn't it obvious that you are not expecting connecting issues if ypu choose to download it? then shuffle and repeat controls need seriois rework, change the appereance due to you cannot tell with a glance if are on or off; shuffle only works for the current round and repeat turns off.

  87. Amy King-avatar

Play Music was way better, interface and functionality wise. Having 2 columns of album covers made it easy to quickly locate what I was looking for, but the list in YTM with tiny album covers makes it hard to find things. The thing that really irks me is that you can't view downloads by artist, playlist, etc. I don't use data when I'm out and about, and I used to just shuffle all from an artist. But I can't do that now. The "downloads only" function from GPM was my favorite and most-used one.

I love music and this app has drawn me away from the dodgy free mp3 download sites because of it's quality. Going premium is the best! It lets me download the stuff I love for secure storage and playback when I'm out of phone credit, plus there's the ad free side of YouTube.. 😃 The way YouTube Music creates playlists that continue the music from any searched song is cool, just whack on a song and similar ones will follow. The best music app available, I recommend everyone giving it a try.

  89. André Manning-avatar

    André Manning

Overall it's good but I won't give it 5 stars because of the fact you have to be very careful when adding songs to the queue. If you do it wrong, it will wipe out all other songs and start another queue with the last song selected. Also some music is mislabeled and there's no way of getting it corrected (as of this post).

I love to listen to music, I like to get lost in my zone and jam. I love the adaptive playlists, youtube understands me very well. There's no other app that compares to the music playability of youtube music. That's the problem as well, all the best parts of the app and experience is tainted by forcing people to buy premium. The ads are overwhelming on both apps.

I minimize my data usage and this app does not support. The downloaded songs do not update on their own and I regularly find songs unable to play offline. These notices freeze any other app running and music stops instead of skipping the tracks that "aren't there". The search requires data turned on to search what might be saved locally and songs started from "Home" are somehow different than those from "Library>Download". The previous Google music app was much more offline friendly.

  92. Daniel Rutherford-avatar

The app is designed to Digitally extort the user into paying for the monthly service if not you can't use your phone & listen to music at the same time you are also bombarded by ads between every song. the music quality is also lessor all from a service they have been running since before 2012. A huge step in the wrong direction.

You have access to all my music on your end. You're getting free completions to music on YT that wasn't there previously and rare one offs. Now I have to find a different way to access all my tunes in one place.

Utterly atrocious. They have completely nuked listening to downloaded music, instead trying to force it's reccomendations down your throat. Downloaded music isn't organized in any way, it can only be accessed through a huge list of albums, not by artist or song. It also doesn't load right, instead trying to connect to Google servers first before finally letting you see it. And forget any music you already have on your device, it will never load it. Probably great somewhere with no dead zones

This app makes me miss Google music every time I use it. The navigation is awful. There is no easy way to get to an artist's "profile". If you look under your library you are taken to a list of songs/albums you liked (no logic there...). The only simple way to get there is by searching. Which requires multiple selections to land on the artist page. Then it's a mess of vertical scroll and horizontal scrolling for songs or albums. It then it doesn't even show the songs/albums you liked! :(

Hate it. It plays songs that aren't in my playlist because they're "similar" artists. There's no option to turn this feature off. It also adds anything liked in YouTube videos to your "liked" playlist (formerly thumbs up in Google Play) so at random, some meme song from a video my kid liked plays in between songs. If I don't want these random things playing, I have to unlike the video. Subsequently, I can't support my favorite YouTube artists because the audio from their video gets added.

For the first time in my life I can say that for me the pleb version is much better than the premium subscription. Atleast when I have the free version my phone will stay unlocked and continue to play music. On the other hand the premium locks my phone automatically and if I even manage to get through one song it 100% of the time shows up with a playback error. Every time I open it, it tries to still me a subscription plan which I do not want. They actively bury my uploaded library making it more difficult to find, and scrolling through artists only kids a page at a time, so it's excruciatingly slow to go. Far inferior to the old Google Play Music app, and miles away from feature parity. It's so bad, I rarely even listen to music anymore. There is nothing that would get me to consider paying for this service.

So say go bye to all that music you bought cause it in the Google abyss. The downloaded section on the app only sorts it from recent download so you can't sort it. Good so far. Love the special features like being able to stream MVs and bonus tracks that artists usually upload only on YouTube. Needs playback improvements, like keeping shuffle on all the time, allowing cross platform remote control, allowing shuffle when casting, alphabetical and other sorting for playlists, and even small things like being able to upload our own playlist artwork, etc.

If you're downloading this "just to test it out" after losing Google Music, run. Fast. As soon as you connect your account, you're automatically signed up for a Youtube Premium trial with no choice in the matter and they deliberately have no feature to deactivate the trial period (so don't think about just deleting it if you're unhappy with it). You have to sign up for an even LONGER 1 Month trial period in order to see the 'Deactivate' button, after being charged $1.00 for some reason. A scam.

Definitely not happy that I had to remove my google play. The widget for it is glitchy. I have just about 1000 songs and I'll put it on shuffle I get maybe 100 then my songs stop there in my queue and most times are in normal order after the first few songs shuffled. I listen to music all day and it's so frustrating to not even be able to listen to the full extent of my music. Not thrilled about this app at all.

Google play music worked with my car as far as being able to use the on board controls to see next up on the playlist. However it is implimented within this app broke it. Please add back the functionality that was taken away when you forced this change on us. Essentially AVRCP is poorly or not completely implemented as it was in GPM / Spotify / Pandora / Amazon Music - and not sending playlist data to connected devices. A year later - still not fixed. Google gives no cares at all .

It's a great app with great playlists. I like that you can easily switch between song and its video. Most of the songs have lyrics, which is convenient. The sound is definitely better than watching directly from youtube. Their playlists are quite good. Although I find Spotify playlists to be better. I do find the YTMusic app to be great overall.

Lacks lots of support for offline such as be able to search in your downloaded library when offline, an offline mode would be great with things like: a favourites list, recent songs list, most played list, checking by artist, just basic features you expect to come with the default music player on any device. Being able to access Youtube's video library greatly increases the amount of songs you can find is amazing but the offline features are lacking heavily.

Kind of mad I didn't opt for premium sooner... so many more versions of content available and everything gets released first on YouTube... literally all the fun of ripping from YouTube back in the day but none of the sketchiness, whether music, podcasts, books, lectures, YouTube has everything so it only makes sense to just pay the same amount as other music apps and get SO much more and the sound quality is PHENOMENAL, LOVE.

Organisation of songs in the library could be better, being able to scroll through songs with a scrollbar is a must have, especially if you have hundreds of songs and in opinion is really important. The whole ui can get stale, not much colour except the albums.Song selection is just like any other platform, nothing I've noticed is missing. The desktop web app would be better if it was an actual app.The Tv/Chromecast app is just normal youtube(why!?).Theirs still a lot room for improvement.

Quite a bit of functionality lost if you want to be a free user. Stupid things like being unable to turn off video so you don't waste your data (unless of course you fork up some cash) It's alright for the occasional listen on wifi when you don't want to do anything else on your phone... but that's about it

Worst app ever. Google Play Music simply worked. This app does not.. It will not work to play local device music. It took several minutes just to load the songs to show them, then after hitting shuffle all it threw an error. I started Samsung Music and was playing my local music within 10 seconds. They done messed up something good.

This app has so many problems. Firstly the lack of a lock screen interface for it. Secondly my liked songs now repeat every 10 songs and the list seems like it goes on forever. Thirdly there really should be a way for users to permanently purchase the music they want. Lastly why does the original YouTube app have different themes but this on dosent

Intermittent and random choppiness experienced in car on my hands free Bluetooth connection. Android's Music app did not have this problem, but YouTube music app does. Happens when app is at forefront or when it has been put into the background. Happens on downloaded music in playlists as well as to streamed songs. This is infuriating. I have to resort to radio like a flippin caveman.

Terrible UI. You can't find artists easily everything is based on playlists that don't "learn" your tastes in music. The playlists don't play music even closely related to the artist you started with. There is no "save state" - if you close the app then reopen, it doesn't start where you left off. When you connect to Android Auto, you have to start the music manually. This app is missing basic functionality you'd expect in a music app.

Needs work, 1. Music Recommendations still not on Par with Pandora or Spotify 😒, I find myself having to thumbs down 👎 way too many suggested songs. Even Amazon music has improved over time. 2. YouTube Music still won't Remove a song in a Playlist that I've Thumbs Down. If I've thumbs down a song I don't want to hear that song again . 3. YouTube Music often fails to download music large playlists "Like Songs Playlist" while on a fast WiFi connection time and again on my new ( Pixel 4a).

Paid for a multitude of albums on google music, now they are all stuck on YT music, the quality is notably worse than any of the audio they offer on their videos even though I paid for the entire albums. Every time I click on an album I was just listening to that I own it will take me to the youtube version of the track and start playing ads. Now it has volunteered me for a free trial of premium I did not ask for, just so it can continuously prompt me to extend the trial. Eat my shorts 🖕

Overpriced... BUT for YouTube and as music apps go - the additional options and premium features are quite satisfactory (play while locked, personal mixes, etc.) I wish "downloads" to ACTUALLY be downloads that are accessed appropriately. They don't serve much purpose at all when my provider service is out. I wish for an app on Roku for the price. Also, not being notified (which used was an option allowing removal) of duplicate songs on playlists

Charged me during my free trial, then offered two weeks of free service as repayment. I paid for a full month, I expected a full month. You could have lost out on JUST the $18, now you've had to refund me the $18 AND lost all the money you would have gotten from our subscription. UPDATE: In an email confirming the cancellation, they lied once again (surprise surprise) by saying my benefits would end on April 23, but it only took them ten minutes to cancel the benefits.

So disappointing! I've been a Google Play subscriber for several years. The transition to YT music has been anything but seamless. My playlists no longer play in their entirety. The lists get to a point where you can no longer skip to the next song. You can go out and manually click on the next song but then it stops again and you have to repeat that for every next song. I'm a Google guy, so I keep hoping they'll fix this. But it's been months and it hasn't been fixed yet.

Everyday the shuffle doesn't work when it's connected to my google speakers. Then, it plays 5 to 10 songs and cuts off. Hundreds of people have this problem and nothing has been done. It doesn't matter what phone, device I use, it does the same thing. Fix this issue. You guys have made this experience worse for us! And you want for us to pay monthly? Come on!

Why can't I organize my music by the artist? It's a mess. I can't find all the names of the songs I want to play. It would be so good if I could just find those songs in alphabetical order by just scrolling down seeing the artist name. Also, sometimes the songs don't want to download, the stay frozen and my internet is just fine. Sorry but I don't think I'll stay for the whole month of trial.

  138. Oughriend-avatar

UPDATE: 3/20/21 I'm upgrading to 3 stars as the player seems to have improved. Initial load time of local music is still slow on start, say 2 minutes. But now playback is much better, with less than a second gap between songs. As a standalone player it's pretty rudimentary. Original review- All I want is to play local files. Worthless Awful. Takes 2 minutes to load local files, and minimum 30 seconds to over 3 minutes delay between songs. I can't make it work and I can't get rid of it.

Every time I try to download a song, a album, an artist, or a playlist, etc, It will show the circle with the arrow pointing down but it never downloads anything. It is getting very annoying, I go on road trips pretty often and I like to listen to music. It is very hard to enjoy this app when the main feature doesn't even work. If Google doesn't fix this I'm going to find another app that does work.

Terrible I have the same experience as everyone else. Broken shuffle feature that plays only a small subset of tracks then either reiterates or starts playing tracks that aren't even in my library. Randomly playing tracks that aren't in my library. Periodic track freeze (displays as playing with progress bar moving but no audio). Tons of other bugs and broken features that make it seem like developers are just hacking music player features from the legacy play music app into youtube.

Compared to play music this would be a negative one star. Playlist terminate for no apparent reason, song generated playlists are terrible, will not continue radio beyond a certain amount of songs. Navigating to purchased and uploaded libraries is just terrible. Loading in Android Auto or or Bluetooth devices displayed Lags or fails to reliably display anything. It should be a music app not a video app. There's more wrong than there is right.

  142. dchristopher7-avatar

I see clearly what the app is all about. Is there a separate fee for stopping the "playback paused because the account is being used in a different location" situation from happening? I already pay $10 to use the service but have to deal with playback being paused by someone else?? Fix it!! GPM was better: free unless you bought music and relatively glitch free. 😒. I've sent emails about the issue and got crickets as a reply. Hopefully someone is developing a better choice.

There are a couple of things that need to be worked on: 1. Tapping on "play next" does nothing, almost most of the time it's simply not working correctly. 2. Always when downloading it takes a lot of time to download songs and shows error that I can't download- even though my internet connection is more than fine. The app needs to be worked on ASAP!

Terribly confusing app. They should have kept YouTube and YouTube Music separate. The fusion of playlists, libraries, and liked songs is very muddled and disorganised. I would prefer YouTube Music to have started with a clean slate or migrated from Google Music so I can create new lists from scratch. Auto generated play lists are horrible, songs of very different genres are mixed together which make absolutely no sense. For example Workout Mix came with random electronic, pop, and country music

  145. fastrally-avatar

They advertise it as free but it might as well be a subscription only platform. Too many ads, can't listen to music in the background or with the screen off, can't use downloaded music, etc. It gives you a 2 week free premium trial which lures you into thinking it's a good app to use without paying, then it takes it away, you can't do a tenth of the things you could do before, and it is a bad experience. Not to mention 9.99$ a month for a lot of the features spotify gives for free is stupid

  146. Daniela-avatar

It's fine, I can still play the files on my device but you really need to be a premium user to truly use YouTube music. It doesn't allow playing music while screen off or as background app. Same as the YouTube app. So sad. Just use the YouTube app. I think that is much better and almost the same.

Not only has this app gotten rid of the music I purchased, it has made listening to music more difficult. I contacted Google to refund me or transfer my music to YT, they said they can't do either because it's too late saying that people had almost a year to transfer their music. The pandemic's been going on for over a year. I don't have time to be looking at emails/phone notifications when loved ones aren't fortunate to have a remote job or are too elderly to shop for themselves. Unacceptable.

I was a forced transfer from Google music, but that's not why I give it one star. It works alright, though there is no actual way to actually purchase new music. The reason it gets one star is the un-ending and incredibly annoying attempts to get me to sign up for the monthly fees. Everything I open the app I have to click through at least one annoying pop-up, today it was two. They didn't say anything different; two essentially identical pop-ups. I'd pay for spotify out of spite at this point

This app is infuriating, i absolutely hate it. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I get in my car it changes from whatever playlist I selected and was previously listening to, to some randomly selcted BS. Like NO, just play the f:n music I was already listening to. Nobody asked you to change it, nobody asked you to play random songs i have no interest in. Just play what was already selected, what I was already listening to and quit trying to make me listen to your garbage suggested playlist.

Forced from Google Play Music to an inferior product. Lacks a lot of functionally I came to rely on from GPM and integration with other service like Sonos losing "Start Radio" from a song. Libraries are a mess and I find myself actually not listening to music because of how frustrating I find the service. Updated from 2 stars to 1 star due to the "Song Unavailable" bug. Literally no reason for songs to suddenly be greyed out and unplayable. Even within an album, randomly some songs can't play.
