On the plus side, it was easy to transfer my music and playlists over from google play music. However, unable to buy music. Also, not as many options to listen to all of your songs, does not have the function like google play where you could just listen to all songs on your phone. You can either listen to a playlist of downloaded or a playlist of unloaded songs, you're unable to have them in the same playlist to listen on shuffle!!! Poor design, let me buy music again!!!

- apps on google play I've been using Google Music since 2012. I loved that platform, but recently was forced to make the switch to YT Music. Here are a couple of thoughts on it after 2 months. 1) The music suggestion engine seems more responsive than Google Music. 2) The navigation is horrible. Not only is there no way to change the color scheme, which is terrible, the management of playlists is awful. You have very little ability to manage the queue. 3) searching the library sucks.

apk download I really want to like this app, but the paid premium version is being pushed so hard that I will probably move my music library to another service. Play Music is/was far superior. There are three main issues: 1) Navigating your uploaded music is not easy or intuitive. For example, it's difficult to play individual albums when searching by artist. 2) I get pop-ups asking to start a trial or upgrade ALL THE TIME. I don't know how to turn this off. 3) Requires premium to use Android auto.

download Was My personal favorite for my music. I pay for premium & still have to look at ads. The pain in the rear lag time between songs is absurd. Otherwise, I would give 5 stars. When I put on my Playlist I should Not have to go back to my phone at the end of every dang song to make it play the next song in my list, especially when I'm paying a premium that keeps going up in price! I have excellent internet service and pay for unlimited everything. There's no reason for this!

youtube music - stream songs & music video mod apk Play Music was a great service for uploading my music library to play across devices. After being forced to transfer to YT Music, it's clear that the app is not designed for those who primarily use a personal music library. The "uploaded" music library is difficult to access, and content is poorly organized. For example, you can sort your music by artist, but it only shows a list of songs that aren't grouped by album; or you can view a list of albums that aren't grouped by artist. Seriously?

app So I downloaded the app because Google music is going away and I have noticed that it drains my battery really fast. I have talked to several other users that use it and they said the same thing. The app itself is easy to use. Once the battery issue is resolved I will give it more stars. But until then..... Update..... I have been using YT music for a couple of months and it is absolute garbage. I hate this app. Why did google have to go and mess a good thing up. Grrrrrrrrrr

youtube music stream songs and music videos premium apk Update: 29Sept2020: YouTube Music Sucks Big Time. Queue cannot be cleared, and will not always appear for use by user in the browser. Tried support suggestion clearing songs one-by-one, yet next song queued causes batchfile song load once again. Google is screwing up with this version. Superceded follows: Reconsidered: I'm going to give it another try, it is occurring to me that may be a boon! If you want one or two or only a few songs, create a playlist. I just wish Google would have a better support system to allow users to understand their new updates! = = = original critical review follows = = = App sucks! Google did not include the option for the user to choose only one or two songs in the queue. Select one song, and there are numerous songs in the queue, and to remove them, you've got to do so one by one. No thanks. I am an All Access Music Play member and have been for years. This may be the straw breaking this camel's back. There are too many other music options out there than having to deal with this headache. Come to think of it, I already have subscription to two others, just gave Google Play my focus. Maybe now it's time to explore my options. Maybe you should, too.

دانلود Garbage. Can't cast any of my uploaded songs. Bluetooth is spotty on a good day. Might play 10-20 songs of a playlist on a drive then just stop randomly. Want to continue the playlist? Forget it. Once the app closes (for no reason) you aren't picking back up where you left off. I'll be changing over to a competitor. I have 1000s of songs collected over a 20+ year period, MANY of which were purchased via Google Play. It's a slap in the face.

تحميل Horrible. I used Play music and it was great. This is not. I figured it would be like YouTube but decided to give it a try. I was impressed how bad it was. Within 3 songs it played 3 different genres. You can't listen to music with your screen off unless you fill Google's wallet. I used to be a die hard google fan but it seems everything they come out with gets killed at some point. This is just really bad. Find something better for free.

This app was described as having all the features of Google Play Music, but it DOES NOT! I can't upload songs from my phone through either the app or the web version, even though they are in .mp3 format. I can't buy individual songs or albums through the app. These are pretty much the only two reasons I used Google Play Music instead of transitioning to a non-native app for music. Google Play Music was a music library app, this is a music streaming app. Don't try to pass it off as anything else.

If you pay for streaming music (and data), I am sure it is probably a good app. However, I buy albums and only play those offline. The only option to access music on my device is to go to the song list and then device files. You cannot select an album, you can't search for songs and I couldn't find a way to sort them. I have to return to the Samsung app.

A big step backwards from GPM. I can't clear the queue, I can't stop it adding a playlist of recommended music when I play only one song, there's no sleep timer, there's no play count, and so on. It feels like the user has very little control. Google has a habit of abandoning something that worked and replacing it with something half-finished. This is a great example.

I really want to like this app but I don't think I can in its current state. Music streaming is not available in my country, but that's not a problem since I have songs on my device. However, this app takes forever to load them. And even when they're loaded, it takes about a minute to play the song after I've picked. Idk if it's because I have a lot of songs but GPM never had this problem. Also, when displaying songs on the "Up Next" section, it adds 30mins to the songs playtime (visual glitch)

I have an extensive music collection (yes I'm a dinosaur who still owns music) and this app makes my music experience a nightmare. It takes forever to load up my list of albums or artists, much less songs. And it thinks that tracks 10 through 12 happen between tracks 1 and 2. And more... I tried it because Google Play Music keeps saying that it is going away and that this is the replacement. If you have to replace an app that works, could you please replace it with another app that works?

Poor replacement for Play Music. There isn't a list for recently added, my thumbs up playlist from Play Music doesn't transfer over. I absolutely abhor the UI. It's far more difficult to use than Play Music. If I want to watch music videos, I'll do it on YouTube. Leave my music separate! If this app doesn't get better, I'll find a way to abandon it for something else. I used to buy all my music from Google Play. Guess not anymore.

Very frustrated with this app. Definitely not the same as Google Play Music (which had nothing wrong with it). I can't add device files (songs I've downloaded) to my queue! I can't search in my own library and it's not even ordered alphabetical. Sometimes when I'm listening to a playlist, it'll just shorten my queue for no reason (I have like 200 songs on there and all of a sudden, there's only 10 in my queue so I have to start over). I don't understand why they had to get rid of Google Play.

The only reason I downloaded this app was because I was FORCED to. Google music player was an easy convenient way for me to download music. It was user friendly and you didn't have to purchase anything extra. I could stream to other devices with ease, now I have to PAY to do that!!!!! This is ridiculous 😤. On top of that the sound is lousy and there is no mixer to fix it!!!!!! NOT HAPPY AT ALL 🤬

I just want to say that for the most part I do like this player. BUT. What my main issue is the fact that shuffling music does not shuffle ALL your music. I have a playlist of 600 songs and if I shuffle it only shuffles about 30 songs but only from the same area as the first song. So for example you are listening to song 346 , the shuffled songs are only from around 346. It does not shuffle all 600 songs. This is bizarre as ipods could do this in the 2000s. There is no excuse for this.

I loved Google Play Music where I could buy songs I wanted to listen to, and had more control over my content, it was easier/ less annoying to use, and quick access to what I wanted to find. Being forced to this app, which is horrendous to use by comparison, is a no go. The first thing it does it try to trap/force you into paying for "Premium" Service and putting you on a 2 week trial. Thanks, but no thanks. Uninstalling, and will find a better alternative to Google Play Music than this.

Half of what Google Play Music is, and Google Play Music is half of what Spotify and Amazon Music are. I like the color scheme, but the functionality is confusing. When I listen to a song on YouTube, I don't want it in my YT Music Library. If you're going to treat them like two different apps, make them two different apps. The UI feels disorganized. It's a hassle to transistion to. It makes me sad. I am now sad. YT Music, as an app, just makes me sad.

Terrible Replacement for Google Music. It seems you can't just listen to music, videos are forced upon you. I looked hard to see if this was a setting I stumbled into? Could not find away to disable video. Very frustrating. Plus no play counts, no purchase option and the related music setting takes you to wildly different places. No common sense. The person in charge of this design team has no idea how a music program is suppose to operate. I'm sorry YT music, your not ready for the big show.

Horrible! I don't know how this replaced Play Music, its horrible. The worst part is the "Start Radio" function, it curates playlists that are literally all over the place! It plays music that isn't even close to being the same genre sometimes and then when you skip a few songs, it's picks a song from your thumbed up songs just so you won't leave the application and search for music elsewhere. Put more effort into your apps, I'd be embarrassed if I put my name to this. Too bad I cant write more.

Honestly when I first got the notification that Play Music was going away I was so angry. I thought "why fix something when it's not broken" expecially when we've had no choice. But after getting used to it I'm happy, it's familiar. The reason for the 3 stars is so I hopefully get noticed because my problem will be if we aren't able to buy singles or albums anymore. Because that would screw over artists and listeners. Buying a YouTube Music subscription shouldn't be the only option.

I've never had such a love-hate relationship with an app before. On the one hand, the access to music and YouTube remixes is unparalleled; nowhere else will you find such a vast and expansive music library such as this. If it was packaged with a good music player, it would be an easy 5 stars. However, it's not. Hitting shuffle on a playlist only plays a part of the songs, there's no way to create a custom queue without getting unwanted songs added in without creating an entirely new playlist.

After using YouTube music for a while, I will say it's okay, however as a music streaming service, it just really lacks a lot of fundamentals that other music streaming services offer. It has a good selection of music, but it just really feels like using YouTube, which isn't a bad thing, except that when your listening to music with the app open, and don't interact with the app, it just pauses your music just to ask if your still watching, which does not make sense for a music streaming service.

This app is horrible!! The premium features that have to be paid for were a given on Google Play Music (GPM). Even the simple things like turning off your phone while playing music is now a paid feature. I feel that the music videos are an unnecessary thing, when I listen to music I'll set my phone to the side. Almost everything about this app is a downgrade from GPM and now we have to pay for features we already had. I dont understand why I have to listen to ads between music that I paid for.!

Now using Spotify! I'm really struggling to see the point of this app. I use Google play music, which meets my needs fine. I listen to music with my ears, not eyes. The bit rate of songs on yt music is not shown, but in general it seems far worse and variable than play music, which itself isn't great, but is perfectly listenable. It's currently free so I can ignore it, but I really hope they're not planning on ditching play music for this garbage! That would send me straight back to Spotify.

It just doesn't work. It some times plays the next song on shuffle, sometimes doesn't bother. What it says on the front screen bares no relation what it's actually playing. (my guess is they developed it on android 11, and it's fine on that.) The app in its current form is not ready. Congratulations, you've ruined Google Play Music.

I loved Play Music, but was forced to switch to YouTube Music. All my music was already downloaded on my phone, but I had to redownload everything. Also, YouTube Music will not continue to play music unless the screen is active. If my phone goes to black screen, it will stop. If I open any other app, it will stop. Unless I pay $10/month. This is the worst forced app swap I've ever had to deal with. How the f am I supposed to play music while I do any activity other than sit and watch my phone?

This is such a disappointment. Google music app was incredible. It was easy to use, intuitive, and just plain worked. YouTube music is filled with clutter, very unfriendly user interface, and simple things like shuffle don't work properly. I expect more from Google, and it's unlikely I'll continue my paying subscription given this mess of an app.

Appalling money grab by Google to discontinue Play Music and essentially hold my music library (which I OWN) hostage. I somehow have to listen to ads in order to listen to my own music? Can't turn off the screen while listening. Sometimes it plays music videos instead of my music. If it's supposed to be the primary music player for Android phones, it should probably let users just play their music. That's basic functionality. Disappointed I have to look for other solutions.

Had to transfer from Google Play Music because it is being discontinued. A lot of the functionality and ease of use is lost when switching to YouTube Music, which is a pain. Also, during the transfer, all the songs in my playlists were now unorganized and needed to be rearranged to the way I had it on Google Play Music. There's is no obvious way to change the order of songs in your own playlist when using the mobile app. Therefore I had to spend an hour on my computer reorganizing my songs.

Just like numerous other people I was forced to switch over to YouTube Music because they were retiring Google's Play Music app, which I loved. I only switched because I didn't want to lose my library of purchased music and they assured everyone it would be an easy transition. But this app does NOT have all of the features of Play Music. There's no background play option unless you pay for premium. I can't cast. The library is terrible. It kills your battery. I'm extremely disappointed.

Its not easy to scroll through my music when i can't arrange by artist like google play music. In fact, it looks like it can only be arranged by songs in alphabetical order. Also, it doesn't seem to understand the difference between song artist(s) and album artist. I don't like my access to my music to be in different places, I should be able to listen music downloaded from outside sources and youtube music in the same app. Its difficult to use when I'm offline, and I only listen 2 music offline

Bring back Google Play Music!!!!! This has got to be one of the most infuriating apps I've ever used. Especially when it comes to downloads and trying to listen offline. There is no structure or organization with your offline DLs they're just thrown in there. You can't sort or search(if you can it is not obvious and is hidden). The app will stop playing music randomly and then going to a loading cycle where you have to restart your phone to get it to work again. If I had more space, I'd type a l

If you gave this the exact same interface as Google play music and allowed people to filter out user uploaded content, or at the very least, gave us an option to normalize the volume, then I might give this more than 1 star. The fact that I have no choice but to switch to something so vastly inferior when I've been paying for Google music for years, I can't express the level of disappointment I feel. 1 star is too generous. Fix the glitches, unintuitive interface and random song selection.

This is a HUGE step down from play music. The only way you might like this app is if you really want to be streaming every second you're alive. ( What if you get on the subway? SOL, I guess.) It badgers you CONSTANTLY to upgrade. If you close the app, the music stops. The only way to see your downloads is by album. By album. It's ugly, it's unintuitive, its goal isn't to be usable, its to be so full of proprietary nonsense that you get so frustrated you just give them money. Don't recommend.

This app doesn't work. Instead of transferring all my music from Google Play Music, it deleted all the music completly from my phone. There's no easy way to see your whole library, too. All the transfer did was move my playlists from Google Play Music (which are now empty) to YouTube Music. I now have to re-download every single song I purchased and downloaded before. I am not happy at all.

I have been forced to use this because all of my music was on Google. I should be able to go into artists and then be able to scroll through their albums. Seems pretty straightforward. This app just lists all the songs. Takes too long to find what I want to play. I have too many albums to search through to effectively use the albums tab. Please make it so I can choose albums or songs when searching artists. PLEASE.

Disappointed. Not happy about the forced move. Also the music from Google Play Music does not transfer over despite them making you. Don't like how the offline works. Not organized at all. Might have to make a switch now because it's so terrible. Would rather see them make Play Music port instead of this app. They say it's the same developer, but I can't see it. Especially since they are drastically different.

Still disappointed. I've been trying to use this one instead of Google Play Music, but it feels like a downgrade in all but one feature. Casting to a TV is easier and works well, but everything else is worse: more issues that cause the music to stop, generated playlists based on a song or artist are not always infinite, and the worst part is that these playlists end up being substantially worse in accuracy and diversity. I fear that this urge to take down GPM will take a hit in user base.

I've been having a problem with songs not playing without a connection after I download the album. I've also been having an issue after I start the app. It only happens when I first open the app, but when I go to a song or album and hit the three dots button to share or play next or whatever, the app locks up for up to a minute before it actually opens the little menu. Sometimes it asks if I want to close the app or wait, but it always works eventually. Both problems are very frustrating...

Takes forever to load a list of local music. And this isn't just an initial scan, it happens EVERY time I want to browse my music library. This issue has been around for months. I would have expected a company like Google to fix these kinds of disastrous bugs BEFORE killing off Google Play music. Why would you kill off a perfectly functional app, but only offer a buggy mess as a replacement? You've driven me off your platform.

WARNING - The app will delete your likes. Yes - it will happen to everyone eventually. If you happen to like the "wrong" (or unofficial) uploaded version from the search results (impossible to tell them apart as it doesn't list the uploader) and then it gets deleted, it will be removed from your likes and you'll have no way of knowing till later. Shame to say this but go with Spotify instead - this app is total junk. It's hilarious that they think they can get away with charging people for this for very long. RIP Google Play Music.

Not a fan. I like Google Play Music better. This app does not function the same. It always picks the same songs even when I shuffle it will start with like same 10 songs first. I keep liking songs and it does not change the list when shuffling. Also it randomly stops for no reason that I can determine. Plus I could not transfer my music from Google Play Music to this app. When trying it says they are incompatible or something. It's the same account I don't understand. Also the videos don't play.

List of good things: layout, that's it. To put it simply, most the features that you have for free on google play music is here, but you have to pay for here. Even than some features are missing and/or worse than before. This is a streaming service, not a music playing service and is basically the same as YouTube normally but catered to music. You can't turn off your device and still listen, have no ads, or listen offline without paying. This is objectively bad and would be better to not exist

This app is terrible for the music I have uploaded to the cloud. GPM has been working great for years. I can easily sort through my music there. Youtube music just has it all lumped together in a hard to find potion of the app. On top of that, I regularly cast GPM radio stations onto all the Google Homes I have in my house. Without paying for youtube music, I can't do this. This is a major downgrade is usability for me. I'm very disappointed.

I had downloaded my music, which I bought, from Google music. YouTube music will not let me download them, which means I need an Internet connection to play music I have on my phone. No connection, no music. You CAN download music... if you pay the subscription. I recommend people get music on their computer and transfer into a phone and use a different player, like VLC, as I shall.

Its frustrating enough to have switch apps whenever Google is feeling like reorganizing- which is constantly- but they're not even honoring paid services anymore! I am part of a family plan (which we pay for) that gets rid of ads and has other perks. But ever since the switch, I am always getting ads with this app!! There's no one to contact for assistance or to report the error. Not sure what we're paying for anymore, so we'll be canceling our plan soon. Don't waste your money with Google.

I don't like leaving Google Play Music for this. I liked being able to shuffle me entire library, including my uploaded songs. I don't like how this separates them and I can't listen to all of my music, or all of my music from one artist. I also dislike the fact that my podcasts aren't in the same place as my music anymore. I will be completely switching to Spotify. The only good thing that YouTube Music offers is you can listen to unlicensed songs. Not worth the money.

This app is far worse than Google play music. And here my reasons 1. Make it so that I don't need premium to listen to the music I have while my phone is off. This should be a no brainier, the fact you guys actually have it where I require premium for this makes you look very greedy for money. Music is not something I look at and I don't need to waste my battery to look at music. 2. To many ads. This is such a shame considering the ads are usually 15 seconds. 3. Bluetooth is messed up.

Forced to switch from Google Play Music. Google Play Music worked great. I would have never switched of my own volition. However Google forced its obsolescence to make all users switch to YouTube music. Why you ask? Because they want to charge you a monthly subscription to pay for the music you already own. While you don't need to pay, Google decided to make it impossible to play audio without the screen on. Basically making the app useless. I am currently looking for alternatives.

I am being forced to move to this app from play music which I really liked. I didn't have any problems using play music. YouTube music however sucks. Navigation isn't as nice as play music. Finding your Playlists sucks, and when I finally find it and go to it, it will only load a few of the songs and then stops. I have to then to back re open the Playlist and scroll up to find more music in it. Bad app and you should feel bad for making us switch. I've been using play music since launch.

I miss play music. This app pulls music from albums, but, it also pulls audio from the video. The first is fine. Just like any other service. The second tends to include the tail music that plays when the artist is showing the "follow me here and buy my music" outro. the smart down load feature saves data, but, if you happen to be moving past a hotspot it will try to update and get stuck looking for a new one. I had to turn that feature off so my 1day battery would last more than an hour.

Casting stop working, this app was working fine just a week ago. Now it no longer works, freezes and stops in the middle of songs. I verified and checked all my internet/ wifi and phone connections with both of my carriers just to make sure it wasnt just me. I pay a subscription to listen to this app. I would use it daily to listen to music on my smart tv. It no longer works when you cast music to your smart tv or laptop top..service is useless unless you listen to music on your phone only.

All I want to do is play music files from my phone. I don't want to stream. But, this app looks at the song file on my phone, and then insists on streaming that song from the web instead of playing from my file! This results in a remarkably slow experience with tons of lag and some songs load forever and don't play at all, presumably because the online version can't be found in their system. I got around this by not allowing streaming over data. It's asinine.

You need to work on playing music from the device. I'd people are supposed to move from Google Play Music to YouTube Music now, you need to be able to play songs instantly if they're stored on the phone. Currently, it takes more than a minute to load a song that is available offline as well. Also, what's with not being able to see the list of songs in Airplane mode?! If I'm in Airplane mode, I should be able to see the songs that I have stored on my phone.

Honestly I still prefer Google Play Music over this one. The app has new features which makes it easy to search for other songs that are not on the music library, which is good. But I still honestly I don't like the app, because it takes time to load my music that's on the phone, and what I've noticed is that I cannot play a single song if my mobile data is off, which makes me wonder why am I buying or downloading music if I cannot play it for free(without mobile data charges).

Unable to play just one song. No matter what I do it ALWAYS populates an up next list and there is no way to clear it, remove songs from it, or disable it. This is a deal breaker. If this isn't fixed soon the subscription i had for Google play music is being canceled. I'd put it in as a feature request but hundreds already have since the app was released years and they don't listen to their customers.

This app is an absolute nightmare. It's lacking dozens of features compared to Google Play Music, the organization of features it does have is nonsensical, it loves mixing random videos I've liked into my music, and it offers another nothing of value to my music experience. I've been a fan and happy subscriber of Google Play Music for years, but if I have to move to this app I'm done. I've been waiting for this app to improve and hoping it would be passable, but it's over. Hello Spotify.

I really dislike this in comparison to Play Music. It is in no way a good replacement. I find it very difficult to figure out which albums I have added into my library or my collection. Also, I'm just really not interested in video in this app. If I want that I'll go to the YouTube app. Please make this a proper music app, or just give us back the old play interface.

I hate it. Google play music was perfect, and y'all got rid of it for what? Yt music is too slow, it takes so long to load each song, and hasn't even properly transferred all of my music that was on Google play, and I'm really annoyed tbh. I would change to Spotify or some other music streaming service that doesn't push and shove for you to spend money, but it's too much effort at this point. All I wanted was a service where I could view all the downloaded music and listen to it offline.

Why the hell does it take so long to start a song that is ON my device??? 10-15 seconds between songs is not acceptable. But the songs from the nether regions beyond my device pull up one after the other. And I cannot play songs that were mp3s in the past that I've had for years and played on everything since until now with the "new" google play songs. So I can shuffle "new" song and shuffle"old" songs but not together. This app sucks and y'all know it and you won't fix it because it's not $$$$$

Horrible! I have several playlists , if you put it on random it will only play the same 30 songs over and over even if you have 100s of songs on playlist. Frequently it stops working. I was forced to go to this player because no more Google music. Will soon switch to something else if this is not fixed. Also hate it that you can't reorganize your playlist.

It's amazing how poorly thought out this app is. It plays music, sure. But it's designed for people who are just going to let the app play what it wants. Example, if you download albums and want to play something, the only option is to view a downloads folder sorted by album name. If you want to find other songs/albums from an artist, there is usually no option to go to that artist's stuff directly from a song. When and where links are changes depending on the screens. Similar for casting.

It works and then it doesn't. I'll link it to my car as I'm driving, and randomly the music will just pause on downloaded music. This doesn't happen for downloaded youtube videos, or the former and greater Google Play Music. I also hate that it'll put you into like music if it finishes an album. No thanks, I'm really trying to just listen to that album. Google Play Music was better.

Alright. So. I was vehemently against Play Music going away but I've run out of time to whinge about it. My opinion after 2 weeks. It's okay. It's not great. But it'll do for now on the proviso that someone makes some serious adjustments to the horrendous UI. It's disorganised and messy. There's no scroll bar on the side to if you want a letter i the middle of your album list, start scrolling now, you may be there by Christmas. ALSO! Why does it keep playing random stuff that isn't even in your library after you finish an album. Who asked for that? Who gave you permission. Stop trying to be clever and just be good, to start off with yeah?

I am not enjoying this app at all! I much prefer google play music app. I don't have unlimited data to spend on listening to music so I purchase what I want to listen to and listen to it offline. I can't seem to do that with this f*@#ing app! It is pissing me off to say the least. If I could I would leave a zero stars. I don't understand why you are forcing paying customers to switch over!? Shouldn't you be more concerned with keeping people happy and simply giving options not taking them away?

So far awful. I'm really trying but basic features are missing. It looks pretty, but usability is poor. Every time I switch between waze and yt music it pauses the song. The widget is super laggy, you can't start the app from the widget. You can't save a generated radio station as a Playlist. It goes on and on. I'm getting really fed up with it.

Who wouldn't begrudge being forced to move from one platform to another? How will the new platform be different from what I'm used to? Will there be reduced functionality? That's why I postponed moving. It's not the worst platform. But not created with music buffs in mind. It removed all the "genres". My library should be default display. Search function should search my library. No use of A-Z for quick scrolling in "Artists". Scrolling is terrible, and buffers. Can't edit song details.

What I used Google Play most for was listening to music I own and buying albums. The first half of this they do fine. However, you can no longer purchase albums. At all. You either stream(which, take one look at another bad review and you'll see why that sucks), or you listen to whatever you've already purchased. From what I've read, they don't plan on ever adding the ability to buy albums to YouTube Music. This is not a replacement for Google Play, and I'm disappointed they call it such.

The idea has some merit (why stream the video, when you're only watching for the audio?). In light of the dozens of uploaded clips however, it stinks. Visually you know to avoid that irritating live bootleg version of that one song. In YouTube Music, that's the first song you're presented with. Aside that: Play Music wasn't the best, but I cherished the ability to buy songs in relative safety and download them DRM-free. That's gone now. My money will be too.

I love google play music!!!!! Being forced to use youtube music sucks. The quality in how loud the music is, is just not there. I'm a little hard of hearing and have the volume set to max on 13 google home speakers in my house. I tried using youtube music for a day and the sound just isn't as loud. If youtube doesn't fix the sound then when i can't use my google play music anymore then I'm canceling my service I've had for several years. I'll find a new platform to go with.

Not happy with the change, but could live with it...I give this newer program one star due to the fact they force is to pay for services that were free on google music, like play lists that were transferred over. You must go to the premium level to access these playlists...I'm not going to pay for something that should be free...so until they stop being so greedy, I will not use them and won't give Google a positive review...

Sorry, but this thing needs fixing. You got rid of a perfect app that worked every single time (Google play music) and you FORCED us to move all our music to this app (which is enough of a drag) and now I'm lucky if it works half the time. The other one was perfect. Sorry but this yt music app gets a big thumbs down from me. Just make it work.

Coming from GPM I don't like it. I don't like how specific it is when sorting by artist. It breaks apart featuring artists from the rest of the album and you're stuck searching. I can't lock my phone without paying additional fees. I don't even know if I can buy new albums... Still can't lock my phone. Probably going to buy an mp3 player and, start pirating again...

I actually have this app a try. Google, i hope you get competition soon. I can't open it on android auto unless i pay for it. You also can't sort by album. Plus, it's just not pleasant to look at. It needs better sorting options and it needs to work in the car without paying for it. Or you could just throw it in the dumpster where it belongs. Make the interface more like Google music and let my library work in the car and I'll change my review.

This app is a little better than it was in it's early days. However, I bought more Google homes, on the understanding that Google play music would continue. I'm still paying for a subscription, and I guess I continue to do so for the very few times that this app seems to understand I'm asking for an album and not a miscellaneous play list. Coupled with the fact that they underpaid their artists, this makes us one of the poorer music apps.

Absolute Trash! Terrible interface, way too much going on. Like everyone else has said before me- if you are going to force this change from the perfectly adequate Google Play Music, at least aim for a better product! There is no way I am going to pay 10.00 a month for this hodgepodge of garbage with a Myspace interface in 2020. A pretty bold move from Google when our money needs to be spent very wisely in the midst of this pandemic. Update: I've honestly given it a fair shot. It's DREADFUL.

I actually really enjoyed the ability to buy an album from an artist and listen to it whenever I want, no ads ever. If they had this app while still having the ability to buy music on the play store, then I wouldn't have minded. But seriously? Forcing me to use a different app that clearly doesn't prioritize the music I have downloaded, getting rid of the ability to buy music off of the store, and making it so I can't even LISTEN TO MUSIC UNLESS THE APP IS OPEN AND MY PHONE IS UNLOCKED???

You have moved us across from Google Music to this app, which you claim to be made by the same team. I have no issues with the app or ads if I'm choosing to stream music via YouTube. But it is extremely unfair that we cannot download songs we pay for to the device and listen offline, without paying for a premium service to do so - not to mention the ads. Why should we be expected to pay for a premium to listen offline to songs we already paid for? Please consider this in future updates.

I was forced to start using this because Google Play Music is shutting down and I am finding the experience to be frustrating and inadequate. It lacks the functionality that Google Play Music had, especially when it comes to organising and selecting music from the downloaded category. The only option is shuffle all. Is that the best they could do? I will not be using this app, it truly is the worst one I have ever seen.

Only one of the 1000+ songs have transferred over from Google Play. Not even the songs or albums that I paid for. I am seriously thinking about canceling my premium subscription. The music that I'm play will randomly stop playing after a few minutes. Doesn't matter if I'm using wifi or not. Please go back to Google Play!!! I get better results by just picking someone's Playlist off of YouTube!

This app is pretty much worthless. Started using bc of the Google Play discontinuation and same issues I have with YouTube - you eventually start hearing the same songs over and over, no matter what song you start with. Seems like the algorithm gets stuck on a song you like as opposed to suggesting new ones based on your preferences. Limits the whole "discovery" aspect. Also have to confirm that I still want to listen after a little while- it's a MUSIC app. Just play while I do other things!!!

You couldn't just work the youtube features (some of which already existed) into google play music and rename it? WHY?! why fix what wasn't broken. Google play music had plenty of features for streaming, but at its core it was a media player first and foremost. It wasn't random recommendations that showed up when you opened the app. It was the music you already owned. If I wanted YouTube recommendation I'd pull up youtube. It doesnt act like a music app. It's like it was added as an afterthought

Keeps crashing. As a replacement for play music, this app is terrible. I'm paying the same amount for a flakey application which stops playing music abruptly, and even interrupts the used of my phone when I'm not using it, as its obviously not able to shut itself down correctly. If you're going to force everyone to migrate, at least make the new app as stable as the old one!

This app is utter garbage and a downgrade in every way from Google music. Widget won't launch if the app isn't already running. Google music didn't have this problem. Music won't restart after being interrupted by a phone call. Google music didn't have this problem. Music mix sucks. Google music was OK at least. Interface is less intuitive and unnecessarily different. Google music was far superior. This incesent need to change things just for the sake of change is maddening.

My songs randomly disappeared from my playlists! It says at the top there's 21 songs on the playlist, but only 5 songs show up. I'm really frustrated, especially since I pay for premium and it took me a long time to compile those songs. This never happened on Google Play Music. I have not a single complaint about Google Play Music, but YouTube Music falls WAY short. I am greatly dus in Google for this. I hope they get it straightened out before Google Play Music is gone!

We were forced to have to switch to YouTube Music from Google Play Music so that we could keep our purchases. Now we're stuck with this, and can't use it in the background while music is playing unless you upgrade to premium for $10/mo?! How ridiculous! And you can't just buy one song at a time anymore, you can either listen to it while the app is open or pay the premium price. What was wrong with letting us have a free player?

Fails almost completely at what I want. Google Music handles my uploaded playlists perfectly. This does not. Google Music allows me to download my own playlists to my device. This needs me to pay to download my own playlist. Google Music streams my playlists without gaps. This has long pauses between tracks, or it just stops playing completely between songs. Google Music doesn't forget where I left off in my playlist. This forgets all the time.' ..and its slower. I gave it a try for a month, but I have to go back to the app that actually works well.

There's some issues with the app that I noticed that are annoying. Here's a list... - Android auto mode, the app never remembers my last settings for shuffle on a current playlist, or what was the last song it played. The app restarts all from the start of the play list. - The app auto plays music randomly even if the phone is sitting idle. - Seems to be a limit of how many songs to add on a playlist. I live in California and we're stuck in traffic A LOT! Can we lift the limitation?

I hate this app. Google Play Music had its issues, but please, I would love to have it back. The biggest issue I have is when I'm using my phone and listening to music at the same time. When I go to "close all apps" and this app closes too. No other music app does that, because everyone else seems to be aware that that's stupid. Can't believe I'm actually going to have to subscribe to Spotify after managing to avoid it all these years.

Why don't you just bring back Google Play Music? I used to be able to have my entire music library as Albums. You click on the artist you what to listen to and then choose the album and songs if you want to. The "radio" feature would give you a good mix based on the song you wod start it from. I thought GPM was good and I was happy with it. It seems that YouTube Music is trying to fix something that isn't broken. I'm going over to Spotify to try it out. If it's better they'll get my $ instead.

As a happy Google Play Music subscriber from day one, I am very upset that my most used app of all time is being discontinued for this hot mess of an app. I am so frustrated with the lack of features. Things that should be simple such as viewing and my personal library are impossibly difficult. Lack of being able to save current queue of songs as a playlist. No ability to edit uploaded songs to fix incorrect tags. I spend half of a day trying to figure out how to add 90+ songs from 3 boxsets to a playlist without adding each song individually (3 clicks per song). I have well over 42,000 songs in my library and it feels like Google would rather make a product for people who only want to listen to top 40 or have an algorithm choose music for them. As a music lover, it pains me to say that this app is really making me consider other options or maybe going back to only listening to music I purchased and leaving the world of streaming music behind.

The process for searching and playing your own music that you have uploaded into the app is overly complicated. If I have music that is uploaded and I want to listen to a specific artist I can't just do a search for the artist because the search defaults to YT streamed music vs what I already own. This means 1) I have to listen to ads 2) I can't turn the screen off while listening to music. They need to enable a function in the app so that you can choose if you want ONLY uploaded music.

I do not like this app. I try to play some playlist consisting entirely of songs that I paid via Google Play Music, and they still put some ads or randomly stop playing between two songs. I understand if you're listening to some free music (same thing on Youtube, if you don't pay, it's normal to have ads), but for the songs I already payed, I really don't appreciate having ads. Also, when I set my playlist to auto-repeat and shuffle, it will sometimes pauses and start playing again a few minutes later. Also, I somtimes listen to some meditation/auto-hypnosis that a health professional recorded for me on my phone. Guest what: yep! Ads! Dear Google, I know you want more money. But come on! On stuff I already paid or on stuff for personnal use? Give us a break!

Frustrating experience. This app seems more geared towards a casual music listener, or someone who has music more in the background. Browsing through your own library of songs is basically impossible. It only loads a few dozen artists or albums or songs at a time in the library view. I'd have to type in the name of each song I want rather than scrolling to S and picking sufjan stevens for example. I think my biggest struggle is that it just doesn't feel like a music playback app.

Poor substitute for Google Play - takes forever to load files that are already downloaded to the device and even then it still has trouble playing them. You also can't search for songs in the device files folder which is extremely frustrating. I also find it extremely irritating that every time I open the app it tries to get me to subscribe to YouTube music. If you're going to make this your primary music app you've got a lot to fix. Google play is far superior.

I'm glad to see that so many people are talking about how this is a major step down from Play Music. The app is dull looking and the UI is inconvenient. Some features like shuffle are broken and the recommended new releases are completely removed. I now get music recommended that I'd never listen to so it clutters up the page. It's so unfortunate that this is a forced switch. It's simply inferior and and just horribly designed for a music streaming app, even with the paid premium features.

I will be switching to iTunes. This app is absolutely embarrassing at the moment. All of your downloaded playlists or any downloaded music for that matter cannot be found by artist by album etc it's all just a scrambled mess of individual songs. So you will not be able to search for an artist or listen to a specific album or artist while in airplane mode. There are a lot of my songs that sound like a microphone was put in front of a cheap stereo system and recorded. Terrible!!!

In standard Google fashion, they force you into an app that isn't ready. The list of things that are wrong with it have gotten quite lengthy for me. The inability to lock the app to only play downloaded music like Google play music head is super annoying. Usually I don't notice that I am using my data to play my already downloaded music until it is too late. Navigating through the app is a complete joke. They should have simply built off of the play music app. About to cancel subscription.

It's not the worst I've used, but isn't close to complete enough to force us off of Play Music. It constantly tells me I'm offline when I'm not and the recent changes to the automatic mixes made it worse. In my liked list today, I had the exact same version of the same song play twice out of 3 songs and my New Releases mix is filled with relaxing rain and meditation songs. I also can't seem to view any of the lists before they play like I was able to do before.

Rather unimpressive. You would think a replacement for an entire branch of Google's music service would at the very least be as functional as the previous iteration. Regrettably there are a lot of little things that bug me, like the inability to fast scroll by sliding the right side of the screen, or the way the app doesn't load spaces for all your albums and titles first so you don't have to keep flicking to get to stuff at the bottom. As it is right now, I can't recommend Youtube Music.

If I could give this review zero stars, I would. I'm coming from Google Play Music and it's hard to believe the developers messed the transition up this bad. You can't search for your music while in offline mode (Google, search, see the link here?). Also, putting individual songs in the Recent Activity area is just nonsensical. It's also super annoying that music stops playing when you close the app, Google Play Music didn't do that.

Had to switch from the Google play music app and the transition has been bad. The app can't send any title/artist info via Bluetooth, so I can't see what songs are playing while in my car. There is a noticeable lag in skipping songs compared to the play music app, to the point where I sometimes hit skip again and it skips twice. The cast button is not on the "now playing" screen. I have to go back, cast, and then return to the current song view. Overall not impressed

F'ing terrible. There's no way to search your uploads only, so to get to a song that starts with "W" I either have to sort through an entire internet's worth of songs, or scroll through the 24,000 songs in my library. Not only that, but the app MAKES me sign into my online account before it will show me the music I purposely uploaded for offline use! And then of course there are the ads. Every other time I tap something the app tries to get me to buy a subscription or get more information. F-

Google, what are you thinking?? How could this be the replacement for Google Play music? Transferred my extensive music library as necessary and what a joke. Now when you select an artist, it simply lists all the songs you have under that artist rather than listing albums. You have to scroll through, select a song, and then go into its menu and select "go to album". So stupid. What am I supposed to do now, give up on the whole Google/Android ecosystem after happily using it since 2008?

Look, if you're going to do a force move and consolidate Google, then make sure the app your moving too is optimized fully before you even start the shut down process: •All of my music from Google play is in a separate location from the device files. It needs to be 1 library, you know like your old player. •Device files, if skipped over take a length of time to load, even when they're on the device. FIX. THIS. NOW.

Oh my God is this thing slow.... I can redo my playlists that's not a big deal, but the extreme delay in between each song and through navigating between screens is just unacceptable. The Google play app is nearly perfect. I don't understand why they're doing this. I hate how YouTube keeps telling everybody how great they are. That should be your first warning that something is going to really suck. I won't be surprised if I get ads in between my own downloaded music

Forced to switch from Google Play Music, which was so functional and perfect. This has forced ads, bugs you for a subscription, and removes some playlist functionality. Beyond unhappy at the switch. I suggest adding features like a "recently added" automatic playlist, which is a bare minimum feature for any music player. Do not swap people who use this app for library management back to the streaming tabs automatically on browser close. Options to manage what stats are seen at a glance, such as number of plays, should also be added. These features already existed in your other product, how can you expect people to be happy when your forcing them to take a downgrade! There is a reason why some people want to have and manage a music collection of their own: to not participate in the decline of industry brought on by streaming platforms, such as YT music... On a positive note there is SD card functionality for phone downloads, which at least is present. This is the only app I could find (other than obviously Google Play Music, RIP) that has a browser player synced to a phone player and SD card functionality. It's insane that this is the case in this day and age and pretty much the only reason I will have to continue using this app. Please give people the option to revert and keep GPM alive!

I switched to YouTube music from Google play music as Google is phasing play music out. YouTube music is terrible. I downloaded albums and then went back to remove a couple songs I did not care for only to find out you cant do it! If you don't want specific songs from an album, you have to go through and download each song individually. This is such a terrible feature that every other music service allows. What the heck?!!

The music selection is great and everything in my Google play music carried over, but the shuffle feature is garbage. The app only shuffles the first 20-30 songs from my play list every time I use it. If I am being forced to get rid of Google play music, and continue paying for a subscription, I expect it to work, at a minimum, the same.

Google Play Music allowed me to listen to music I had purchased through Google Play store conveniently, while still being able to listen to songs I uploaded. Now the new system makes my purchases a waste. The process to listen to music I already own is convoluted and ultimately a pain. It seems like another money grab, one that has nothing to offer to me, at least not yet. Really disappointed and usually I love everything Google does.

This app is inferior to Play Music. I have about $300 worth of music that I can no longer play in my car. You have to keep the app open to play your music, there is no switching apps. If this is supposed to be a replacement for a passive music player, make it that. Don't expect people to carry over music they've already paid for and pay another premium just to have the option of switching apps and having music continue. And really? Ads in between music I've paid for? Really really?

Dark interface, playlists play random songs not on your playlists, impossible to tell if playlists are playing randomly or in order because the button looks no different. I've spent $$$$ supporting my favorite artists by buying their music, now I can't even see what I've purchased. I can't buy music anymore either. Yes, I can play things that were only on YouTube now on my playlists. The sound is supposed to be better, I can't tell. Good bye to the friendly orange and white. Hello darkness.

Song queue is automatically filled everytime you play a song, you cannot turn this off, making it impossible to queue up a few songs you want to hear without making a playlist. You also cannot remove songs from the queue. Swipe to remove does not work and there is no menu option to remove them. Adding songs to queue adds then to the end of the list and you can't even rearrange the list.

Seamless transition. I'm very pleased with my subscription. When I choose an album I already own not only does it play that album but also other songs in the same genre that I haven't purchased. Really opens me up to artists and music that I wouldn't have otherwise known about. I can choose to thumbs up any song I want and add it to my favorite list so I can listen to another time. Extremely pleased. I cancelled my Siriusxm subscription.

I love the big inventory of music on this app. If you are listening to techno, you will find more stuff on here than on Spotify. However the app pisses me off so much when it is stuck loading music for minutes and minutes. It will constantly buffer even though you downloaded the songs. It forces you to go to an offline mode and even then it won't load. Should be way better for a company that big, kind of embarrassing. Phone: OnePlus 6

I gave you two stars because, I enjoy the music I get to listen too, but I am very appalled by the fact that the a group of folks at Google thought this application was a good enough replacement. It was quite foolish to replace an app that allows you to listen to music in the background with one that contradicts the point of being a music app. Why do I have to pay for a background music option? Honestly, it left me completely dumbfounded.

If it wasn't for youtube premium I would cancel my subscription. Google play music was great and I never had a problem with it. This app is a buggy mess. Barely works. It has issues even playing my download playlist. The repeat button doesn't work unless it's repeat one song. My playlist will end at random times and start playing songs that I know I don't have in the playlist. This app also has issues working with Android auto as well. It is not an enjoyable experience

This app needs a serious overhaul if Google Play Music is being discontinued. Searching through your own files is a basic function of any music app. At this moment searching only produces results on YouTube. Nothing from the device. If it is possible to generate a search of the device, the method to enable that needs to be more clear. If not, it needs to be added immediately.

Not nearly as good as Google Play music. I DO NOT like this app. It shuts off the music every time I want to use something else on my phone at the same time. It won't play in the background like Google Play music always did. I prefer to pay for songs I want and support my chosen artists. I do NOT want an ongoing subscription. Google why did you do this? I am going back to CDs now!

Frustrating experience switching from Play Music. I can't remove "favorites" from my dashboard, even though they are really not my favorites. How do they calculate that? Can't switch from dark mode to a lighter screen and it feels very negative to me. That's not a big deal, but would be such an easy feature to change. I'm glad that there is a setting to turn off video, but other than that I'm so disappointed in this as a replacement for another Google service. I dislike using it overall.

As a long time user of Google Play Music, I find it hard to believe that youtube music is made by the same people. I really don't like the fact that we are being forced to switch. But this app is SOOOOO bland. There is absolutely no visual appeal just a plain looking screen with some cover art. I like that my playlist carried over but I like to listen to my music by genre and that is not a option in this app. I hope to see more improvement in the months to come, until then RIP Google Play Music.

Google Music user being forced to migrate to this new app. I get it. From a business perspective, it makes little sense to maintain redundant products like this. However, unlike the Google Music app, this one does not play in the background, or even if you lock your screen. Goodbye batter life! Ads play after every song seemingly. I liked the Feeling Lucky function when you're jumping in the car and don't have time to fuss, you just want to press a button and drive. Gone! Hate it! Boo hiss!

Rubbish!! The fact that I have to listen to ads between songs I have already paid for is so wrong. I refuse to pay a monthly subscription to listen to music I already paid for. I've been using Google Play for years, and I primarily use it when driving because it was easy to do so hands free, this is not the case with YT Music. I won't be using Youtube Music. I'll be downloading my music to a USB drive and deleting these apps from my phone.

Doesn't show up in my list of apps, so I have to open Google play music, navigate to the place where it tells me GPM is going away to even open it (tried reinstalling it many times). And then when I get to it, it sucks. GPM is way better, and I'm invested in it. It created work for me to figure out that it sucks. What is the goal of doing this? The result is that I'll switch to Amazon music, unless Google reconsiders replacing GPM with youtube music. Please. Stop.

Google play music recently got rid of their app and made you switch to this. There is a lot less functionality in this app. With google, you could download radio stations for when you don't feel like going through the effort to create your own playlists song by song. You could sort downloads by artist, album, etc. None of this functionality is available here. I'm very diappointed and if they don't make these features available soon, I'm definitely finding a better music service

I've made the move (begrudgingly) from GPM to this and I HATE it. It takes so long to get to my prebuilt playlists so then I just use the music it suggests at the top. 7/10 times clicking on a song will begin some type of continuous playlist. 3/10 times it will play the one song and nothing else. The "start radio" function is much the same, 7/10 times that starts a radio station that is seemingly endless. 3/10 times it'll play 15 songs and just decide to be done. There's no consistency.

For the most part it's pretty good. Unfortunately for folks like me who are on a seniors fixed income and don't have unlimited data plans it's inconvenient for creating or changing play lists. Or searching for a specific song in my library unless I'm on line. It would also be nice if albums in my library were displayed in alphabetical order at the top of the page instead of "recently played". Downloads are in order but very small and hard to see.

Google Play Music is just better! After reading all the reviews, it seems that is the consensus of all the people who have left reviews. I'm being nice with giving it 2 stars. YouTube Music app is so frustrating and you can't even rename or edit song names/info. I really wish the developers could answer that question on something as simple as that. I REALLY wish that Google Play Music was not ending.

Hate it because Play Music was great. Switching back for as long as I can! UPDATE: Still hate it. I've been playing my music uninterrupted for years now I'm stuck with BS ads in between MY MUSIC! Also need to update your star rating so people can select a 0. Oh yeah, and I can't move to other apps while playing music without it stopping with a reminder that if I give money I don't have to do that. Holding music hostage, sounds like the Patriot Act might cover that for terrorist activities.

As a Premium subscriber - not enough characters to list the advantages GPM has over this service. GPM has: sorting options, play counts, the ability to view purchased/uploaded/added songs together, the ability to scroll through a list reasonably quickly, the ability to buy music. This is a typical Google move - forcing a half-finished product onto people expecting better. I expect them fix these problems one by one over a period of a few years until it eventually becomes a good music service.

Updated review: you can't clear your queue so it sits in the way of viewing other playlists. Their neediness for wanting you to watch videos in the app is bothersome and annoying. Doesn't cache music so if you end up in an area without service goodbye music. There's too many different ways to scroll between songs (vertical) and albums (horizontal) which is bad for your eyes and plain stupid. This is such a disappointment, I miss GooglePlay, and I'm looking into alternatives because YTM ain't it.

Update: Since I last used the app it appears to have gotten marginally better. It still does not have content parity of Play Music. For example - search for Jimi Hendrix in both applications. Unfortunately, the reverse is true for other artists. It still seems half-baked and the effort invested in monetization instead of user experience. I don't get the 5-star reviews honestly. I guess it's like saying carob is amazing if you have never had real chocolate.

Transfer from Google Music didn't work. Playlists are empty. When I contacted google/YouTube for support they sent a link to their trouble shooting page (not very helpful). App is also slow and cumbersome compared to Google music. Really disappointed. May have to find a new streaming service. Update:. I'm trying to get used to it but it sucks so bad.

Certain songs sound like they are playing far away inside of a can at poor quality, never had that problem with google play music. It must have to do with the app using youtube videos as a source for the audio. There are more things I could list, but I could summarize it by saying give us the options to maneuver through and play music like google play. Google play has 5 billion users, YT music 500 mil, its just dumb to kill google play on that reason alone. Its a no brainer, 5B angry people.

Has ruined my "likes". Won't easily move between different playlists without freezing and causing me to force stop the app to just listen to my music. Massive disaster. If I didn't have thousands of songs in my library, I would have chosen another service by now. Can someone please tell me why they eliminated Play Music, which was an infinitely better service. Also, the connection to my tv and other sources has become ridiculous. I used to be able to connect my music easily to my tv or speakers

App closes as soon as you lock your device. Finding your music is harder than it should be. The apps sole purpose is to get you to pay for that subscription that will not go away. Google Music was so much better and you'd think this would at least use that as a jumping off platform- depressingly no. Adjusted to 1 start because you can only use YT music.... Otherwise it turns off. And they're forcing you to use it. No way to buy music anymore- even itunes let's you buy music to own.

I'm a little disappointed. Google is pushing hard for me to switch over, but this isn't near as user friendly as Google music was. When connected to android auto you can't voice search youtube music. It always responds, "we can not play video on this device . You can't search albums via Android auto. Also, on th phone app there is not sleep timer. I don't feel this is ready for people to use exclusively. Oh yeah, please bring back decades in Moods& Genres.

Surprised that they are replacing Play Music with this. 1. Playlists don't cycle through the whole playlist on shuffle, only your most played tracks. 2. You cannot see the playlist/next track on android auto. 3. Takes longer than GM to get to your own items. The landing page is recommendations and favourites. 4. Recommendations see really off! The app is functional but far from great. First time since I found GM that I've needed to look at what other services are out there.

Worse than Google Music. If there is a way to play local files, it's so obscure I cannot discover it. It takes more effort to get to my playlists. In exchange for losing these conveniences and features, I get the ability to watch music videos for the songs, which would be great if I cared about music videos or the songs I like had them. As it stands, this is a forced downgrade from google music, and I do not understand why it's being forced on us.

Works 50% of the time, the audio will just cut out randomly every 5 minutes or so. While when I switch over to Google play music it plays just fine with 0 issues ever. Feels like a good lay out and easy to use, but with that audio issue I don't see a reason to switch over compared to play music. I have a pixel as well and would hope it would work better here 🤷

Transferred my music collection from google music. App is far inferior. Music that I have purchased and uploaded, will now be prefixed with ad. The non-premium service limits song quality to an upper limit of 128kbs, for me there is a noticeable degradation in the sound quality. Google music was a good, functional application. The push towards YouTube music is clearly to try and create another revenue stream. I am not happy, and will be looking for an alternative.

I hate this. I hate this so much. I've used Play Music since it came out. I was happy to pay for that functional service. Then Google MADE us all switch. As soon as I transferred my stuff from PM to YM, my Google home speaker groups disappeared and it wouldn't let me make new ones. Now the speakers won't play music at all. I can't ask Google verbally, I can't cast from anything. I spent over $200 on speakers that no longer work. You lost a lifelong customer, Google. I'm switching to Spotify 👋

This move on Google's part is a disaster for users like me who wish to legally COLLECT music rather than renting it. Play Music had been my primary source for purchasing music for over a decade. The transition to YouTube Music permanently ends that. While access to my library has not been completely lost, it has been made more difficult. If I search for an album WHICH I OWN, the results that come up are on the streaming service, with intrusive ads. If I want to listen to my own "copy" of the exact same content, I have to scroll alphabetically through my entire collection to find it. Also: Google punishes those who don't have a streaming subscription by requiring that the device screen be left on while playing music. This is wasteful, petty, and adds nothing to the corporate bottom line. It just degrades the user experience, and gives users a reason to turn to Google's competitors.

Sadly disappointed, forced to switch over from Google Play Music and I could play music without having my phone screen on, very helpful when running. Please note, I can play my library of music with my screen off, but not anything I had not purchased. This is frustrating because to have a quick playlist start playing via saying "Google Play music," you have to keep your screen on because it defaults to a YouTube playlist. Much like Google Play Music, but now I have to have my screen on, or touch my phone to play my music, and if running, that is more difficult than it was with Play Music. Now the ability to play with the screen off requires a paid subscription. This really encourages me to use other music services that have this feature without having to pay for it.

Shuffle is terrible!!!!! Seriously how hard is it to make shuffle work. Apple had it down in the early 2000s how are we still working out kinks. Try to shuffle a Playlist it plays the same 5 songs over and over. If you listen to more than 2 songs shuffle turns off. Why is this app so bad. All I want is to shuffle my music. Please give me back google play music.

Honestly this app was not ready for the switch over from play music. It randomly stops playing and you have to manually press the play button to start the song. If you are listening to a radio station based off a song it does 80% songs from that band, 15% from a similar band and a few other songs sprinkled in, where as play music had a good variety in which I found a lot of new favorite. Plus if the band you are listening to has a random small band with the same name on YouTube it will mix them.

Music pauses for no reason when I'm connected to my car. Another thing that's frustrating is I'll be listening to country or heavy metal and it will throw in music that isn't related only because I listened to it at some point. I prefer my genres not to be mixed together. Google Play Music is a much better app. And where is the music that I bought located in the YouTube Music app?
