requires following permissions on your android device.

approximate location (network-based)
Allows the app to get your approximate location. This location is derived by location services using network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine approximately where you are.

precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

pair with Bluetooth devices
Allows the app to view the configuration of the Bluetooth on the phone, and to make and accept connections with paired devices.

access Bluetooth settings
Allows the app to configure the local Bluetooth phone, and to discover and pair with remote devices.

take pictures and videos
Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This permission allows the app to use the camera at any time without your confirmation.

change network connectivity
Allows the app to change the state of network connectivity.

allow Wi-Fi Multicast reception
Allows the app to receive packets sent to all devices on a Wi-Fi network using multicast addresses, not just your phone. It uses more power than the non-multicast mode.

connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
Allows the app to connect to and disconnect from Wi-Fi access points and to make changes to device configuration for Wi-Fi networks.

disable your screen lock
Allows the app to disable the keylock and any associated password security. For example, the phone disables the keylock when receiving an incoming phone call, then re-enables the keylock when the call is finished.

control flashlight
Allows the app to control the flashlight.

Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

interact across users
Allows the app to perform actions across different users on the device. Malicious apps may use this to violate the protection between users.

full license to interact across users
Allows all possible interactions across users.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

change your audio settings
Allows the app to modify global audio settings such as volume and which speaker is used for output.

access SD Card filesystem
Allows the app to mount and unmount filesystems for removable storage.

read call log
Allows the app to read your phone's call log, including data about incoming and outgoing calls. This permission allows apps to save your call log data, and malicious apps may share call log data without your knowledge.

read your contacts
Allows the app to read data about your contacts stored on your phone, including the frequency with which you've called, emailed, or communicated in other ways with specific individuals. This permission allows apps to save your contact data, and malicious apps may share contact data without your knowledge.

read the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to read the contents of your SD card.

read phone state
Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.

read your text messages (SMS or MMS)
Allows the app to read SMS messages stored on your phone or SIM card. This allows the app to read all SMS messages, regardless of content or confidentiality.

run at startup
Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.

receive text messages (SMS)
Allows the app to receive and process SMS messages. This means the app could monitor or delete messages sent to your device without showing them to you.

record audio
Allows the app to record audio with the microphone. This permission allows the app to record audio at any time without your confirmation.

draw over other apps
Allows the app to draw on top of other applications or parts of the user interface. They may interfere with your use of the interface in any application, or change what you think you are seeing in other applications.

I have very few issues with the app, but one has popped up fairly recently. It seems like the app is hooking into the audio and not letting go until force closing the all. With my P3xl, if I am listening to sound on a camera feed, then switch to a different app my Bluetooth audio for everything is compromised. It sounds like I'm listening to a muddy fm radio station. If I totally close the wyze app, my Bluetooth comes back to normal.

January 30, 2020. Door sensor notifications come through 5, 10, sometimes 15 minutes late. Camera sometimes don't load. Main screen needs better layout options for when you have a lot of devices. Maybe a tile layout would work better? Running on a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus fully up to date on OS and apps. Home internet is 200+ mbps Comcast. Home network infrastructure is full gigabit with multiple APs.

I was really impressed until the "update" removed person detection. Solid, stable connection to my router and phone, good picture quality, but the heavily promoted XNOR integration is why I bought the cam and was considering more purchases. Now I get notifications when my dogs or cats wander into view. Bring back the killer feature that set you above the rest! Now you just have a decent, low cost cam without much to separate it from the rest...

These cams are cute. Magnetic on the bottom. Good picture. The app took a while to setup. Had to reset the cams a few times. Adjust the settings on each cam in app for picture clarity and motion & sound detection. I finally got it to send me a notification. Had to turn feature on detection. I turn off sound detection and kept visual. Will buy sd cards and may buy the subscription which is $1.50 per cam a month after free trial. Im just glad they are detecting and recording.

It's a shame that Person Detection no longer works. I really liked the notifications and ability to filter on person detection events. Not sure why it was important to force a Firmware update that breaks person detection. Oh well, the camera was only $25, so no big loss, but I won't buy anymore.

Sadly, the Cameras Never Could Sync to App. In order to view the cameras, it needs to scan a QR code in the Wyze App. Couldn't they have used simple technology like a code sticker on the cameras to enter or something? Nope. They mandate that your cameras have to scan the App's QR code. Well, it could never scan. I read the trouble shooting guides and everything. Never worked....and I had bought two cameras. A complete waste of money. I am really upset.

Incredible!! This is perfect for pretty much anyplace inside your home.. Outside as well as long as it's protected by a porch or patio of some sort to keep whether elements from it.. I absolutely love it and didn't have to pay a arm an a leg for it nor do you have to sign up with any plan.. It is all through wifi. ✨✨✨✨✨💯

This was better a yr & 1/2 ago. I have cams in my apt & @ grandma's house. I used be able to load live video with in matter of a minute from Texas when grandma is in Mexico & now takes for ever. Are these not supposed to be used outside of the u.s. anymore? Cause that's what it starting to look like. I'm fixin' to buy another brand, just to keep an eye on my grandma or whenever my mom asks "what's your grandma doing"? I'm open to suggestions if you care to fix my issue.

No more AI Detection! Bait and switch! Useless product without proper software. Don't waist your time and money! Nothing like was advertised. Company should refund everyone who purchased products from them. Cheap little cameras that would work well if the company had originally agreement with the AI Detection Software provider, but has NO DETECTION SOFTWARE now... leaving users with no detection. Cameras are useless now. Don't waist your money!

I've only had this system for two weeks, and it's already been downgraded. Not a good start. --> Video quality now leaves a lot to be desired. App crashes constantly. Doesn't seem as if anyone cares. Considering returning all cameras, and requesting refund for monthly fees.

This is a great app. Only thing I wish it had was a widget so I don't have to open the app fully to turn on/off a single plug. Most other apps have such like Kasa, but the plugs I have use wyze. Please add widgets when you're able to. Thank you in advance. With widgets I'd give 5/5 stars.

Every time they do an update the App becomes unusable. It crashes constantly while navigating through the recorded events. Very annoying having to reopen the App 4-5 times in a row to view your video. I'm about to give up and throw this in the garbage.

The four cameras I have worked great at first. Now within the past few weeks, I've had issues connecting to them. They are still recording events and notify me, but I cant access the feed. Kindly pointless if I cant connect or see anything.

  14. guest-avatar

Pathetic. I'd rate this app zero stars if I could. In 2020, the idea that an app only works for 5 seconds before losing connection is mind boggling. It doesn't matter what settings I use, 5 seconds after viewing the camera my connection drops to 0 kbps and then I have to completely close out of every app before it'll reconnect again. The camera is literally right next to my router, so this continuous drop in connection is inexcusable.

The hardware is great for the price. The software is just ok. The interface is clunky and not intuitive. Somewhat buggy at times too. Wyze should also make an app available for android devices such as Android TV/Nvidia Sheild.
