I loved this dictionary, because Noah had given explicit definitions of words he and others had used in writing the constitution of the United States, including its Bill of Rights. But this version has had definitions edited out. Noah had included the meaning of "bear arms". Isn't it interesting how dictionaries today make no attempt to define this phrase that is so controversial today? The cowardly liberals don't want anyone to know their rights.

Older dictionaries are increasingly important at a time when powers that be are busy polluting our language with "verbing" and other corrosive, debasing and nauseaing trends they promote—and then normalize in subsequent dictionaries. Webster 1828 is an excellent alternative for people who realize, for example, that "gift" is not a verb except for natural or divine endowment of a power/faculty. This app is not a complete version of Webster 1828 and contains errors, perhaps even alterations.

The original 1828 Noah Webster Dictionary is truly amazing, but this app is an abridgment making it a pathetic offering compared to the real thing and almost useless. I have the hardcopy (available online from Christian Book Distributors) and the entry for "sin" is like three full columns, nearly an entire page in a big huge book. This appears to be part of a deliberate agenda to rewrite history -- a republication of something 200 years old with the salient detail edited out.

Quick word search and no permissions necessary! The only problem (and its a big one) is that there is no way to copy the definitions!

This should be the standard version of the dictionary. When they updated past this version they took God out of the dictionary. When you take God out of anything it can't truly be complete.

Wonderful companion for studying the King James Bible! References scripture, and contains "archaic" English words that won't be found in some modern dictionaries. Must have!
