Good start and could become a great mobile browser. Two things I'm noticing that need improvement: - Currently uses 60hz refresh rate even if your phone is capable of higher (OnePlus 7 Pro - 90hz). This isn't an issue on Chrome. - "New Tab" shortcuts not available on homescreen. Also would be nice to have the ability to long-press the "tabs" button and have a menu pop up with "New Tab", "New Incognito Tab", etc. like the new versions of Chrome (Android). - True full-screen mode (immersive) would be a nice option

This is incredible! I already use it for my laptop and now it's on Android! It would be really cool if you could add chrome browser extensions as an option for mobile just like the desktop. Tab Sessions are great too and would be really cool with mobile. Nonetheless, can't wait to see what you do with it. It's only Beta...

  3. Tahmid Faiaz-avatar

Switched to vivaldi from opera on pc and its been great. On android however, not so much. Lack of customization options (cannot switch tabs to top, cannot close tab by sliding up/down) , adblock is pretty weak and leaves a gap. I will be staying on opera on my phone for now. But hopefully this browser will improve so i can use it as my daily browser on both pc and phone.

So far so good. It work perfectly and seems pretty snappy. Couple of features that I'm looking forward to seeing are customisable search engines (like the desktop app) and a way of making website appear in dark mode (currently I use an extension in the desktop app). Otherwise, I think it works and looks better than the other browsers out there I have tried.

(29/1/20) The problem of new tabs only opening as part of a group seems to have resolved after uninstalling and reinstalling. Please consider implementing customizations to help with one-handed use. With the new Edge, I can hold my phone in one hand, use my thumb to swipe up an options drawer, and access several important functions from there. For Vivaldi, I have to use a second finger to tap the V in the top right corner- not convenient when my other hand is occupied. Also, extensions. Vivaldi Android has been in beta for a while. Good job so far, but people aren't willing to wait forever it to come out of beta and have the functions they want. For now, it still feels too much like Chrome to make it a standout.

  6. AH Muro-avatar

Great overall. Obviously beta means that there are still work to do. The main problems I see right now are: 1. the huge speed dial icons/thumbnails. A mobile device doesn't need such big icons, three or four columns would be nice instead of two, to have easier access when there are many sites saved. 2. The arrangement of the menus/buttons need a lot of polish to be more comfortable and accessible. I never use the browser 'back' button, but I would like easier access to share or bookmark.

  7. Wtarm Kantoni-avatar

I have been using the desktop version for several years as my main browser. The sync function with the mobile app worked at the first attempt. Pages load faster in this app than in other browsers I have been using. I find it easy to use and the speed-dial and bookmarking functions are so much better than other mobile browsers. Only minus: Far more ads appear using this browser than in the others I had been using. Therefore 4 out of 5. Great for a beta version. Hope it keeps getting better.

Guys, a lot of improvements are required. Would love to use it as the main browser, but can't, sorry, needs integration with password managers (keepass, 1password, etc) - not usable without it. This is a major issue. Somewhat smaller issues: Needs dark mode. Back button shouldnt close tabs if there is no previous page to load - I can't tell you how many tabs I closed unintentionally. Needs speed dial in private mode. Needs to stay in private mode when closing last tab. Otherwise, very promising

  9. Harry Ferguson-avatar

    Harry Ferguson

I love this browser on my desktop and laptop, and the ability to edit the user interface and sync favorites is great, so I've been waiting for the Android version. With this Beta release there are a couple of minor issues, but even in its Beta form this is a great browser, without the concern of Google tracking every website visit. With the DuckDuckGo search engine, it's another tiny step in shutting the malevolent company out of my life.

  10. Lilac Milton-avatar

    Lilac Milton

Underwhelming, especially in comparison to Desktop Vivaldi. It's lacking in the extensive customization and tab management features of the Desktop browser, but lacks the more in-depth privacy features and Adblock of Brave. Its only defining feature is the ability to pull up tabs open on another device, as well as the- and the sync, assuming you already used Vivaldi on your PC, is the ONLY reason you'd use this. Since you're even looking at Vivaldi in the first place... Just use Brave Mobile.

  11. Yevhenii Yarmoshchuk-avatar

Please, add possibility to edit grid size of the speed dial. That what is now look like it was made for almost blind people. What is the sense of such a giant elements? There's a bug with the Google search bar in a desktop mode. The text is located above the search bar.

Well, it *is* Beta, after all. I'm a happy user of the Vivaldi browser on both my PC desktop and my Linux laptops. So I had high hopes for this Android effort. It worked about 3 times -- long enough for me to fine-tune the Speed Dial settings. After that, it crashes every time I start it. And that's been more than a dozen times. (Developers: it's a Samsung Galaxy J727V running Android 8.1.0) And, yes, I've rebooted the phone. I'll keep it installed but go back to another browser and hope that the updates Vivaldi will get on the way to a release version might take care of this.

Had to Stop Using It I couldn't take it anymore, I became too frustrated with not being able to click on things. If the address bar is showing, when you go to click on some word or link, you always have to click on the word above it because everything is off by 1 line spacing. After searching with the address bar, you have to move the page up to hide it so you can properly select a link. This just occurs in the android version. Hope they fix this, I love Vivaldi for the desktop.

  14. Lennart Bentz-avatar

    Lennart Bentz

As a user of Vivaldi on Desktop I'm really enjoying some of the features, like e.g. the search engine shortcuts. Customisability and privacy are still lacking, however. Most importantly to me personally, there doesn't seem to be a way to turn off autocompletion in the address bar. To me transmitting any URL I'm typing to a search engine for completion is a dealbreaker, so I will not be using this browser until this becomes a setting. I'd rate this higher, if I didn't care about this.

  15. András Ács-avatar

    András Ács

It's probably still an early version, but what struck me is the distinct lack of meaningful customization, the so-so overall UX, the giant speed dials, and the lack of ad blocking. Syncing with the Vivaldi account I haven't tried, but can't think of any other feature to recommend right now. Will keep an eye on it anyway.

  16. Hristo Tzekov-avatar

    Hristo Tzekov

Seems nice so far. They listen close to our feedback and integrate much requested features quite quickly, which is great. I can also recommend the desktop browser of theirs, been using it for a year or so now. A custom background picture on the home screen would be appreciated.

  17. kyle contorno-avatar

    kyle contorno

Development please consider! So like many other users here, I am a huge fan of the desktop experience. This beta for Android shows great promise but there are a few flaws keeping it from encouraging me to switch from my current browser. 1. Not sure if others are noticing this but my Google feed does not display through this browser and I get a message saying location not available. 2. Needs true dark mode meaning web pages background show as black 3. Need light theme w/o orange accent

  18. Bronze Factory Productions-avatar

    Bronze Factory Productions

Always liked Vivaldi. What I'd like to see is an inbuilt VPN like on the desktop version A viewable news feed screen when opening the app, similar to the Microsoft Edge/Opera & Google instead of having to go into the News tab to see a feed. Then, I'll be happy 👍

  19. Leif Rudd-avatar

    Leif Rudd

my favorite desktop browser finally for Android... but sadly falls short on two details: reflowing zoomed text, and no resizing of the speed dial tiles. [update: beta 2 still doesn't address these issues.] also far fewer configuration options than expected, given the lavish array for the desktop version. a great beta milestone for core functionality, with no page errors, odd behavior or missing content.

  20. Ruby J. Scheme-avatar

    Ruby J. Scheme

Once again: freshly updated, yet, it does not solve my issues. 1. It doesn't work on my Asus Zenfone 2: it does not reach any webpage (even though other browsers do). 2. It doesn't locate correctly where I touch the screen of my Huawei M5: I have to click 5 to 10mm above the links. (@dev: FYI, I have the same problem with only one other app: Race for the Galaxy)

  21. Insta-avatar

A very good mobile browser capable of living up to its brand. Syncing works like a charm, and being able to continue any browsing session from any device is top notch. I just wish it worked with password managers like LastPass, that's the only thing keeping me from giving it a five star rating.

  22. Jenn Lyons-avatar

    Jenn Lyons

This app is absolutely, undeniably NOT ready for wide consumption! It's slow to "learn", so often doesn't show proper search results especially if you want something very specific. BUT~the most annoying thing is every time I click on a link on the result page after a search, the link below it opens! It's absolutely weird! And it's every time. If there's more than one link to click on, such as a recipe list on BBC Food~the next link below opens so I have to remember to click one link above. Nope

  23. Hannah K-avatar

    Hannah K

Yay new version! But can't use my speed dial in a private tab? Very sad! Would be cool to have an option to use private tabs by default and maybe disable Notes and Synced tabs. Speed Dial sometimes uses site favicons as full images, which are resized/REALLY blurry. Awesome accessibility options. Excited for the future of this app.

  24. River Vasquez-avatar

    River Vasquez

Decent browser experience, no LastPass support. Have been using this since launch in September, immediately frustrated that URLs aren't visible to LastPass for it to autofill. Made do for three months assuming an update for a critical feature like this was coming. Couldn't find any blog posts indicating it was in the works, so back to chrome for now. Most other aspects of the browser are nice and intuitive.

  25. csibesz07-avatar

My main concerns are about one hand usability: Please put the address bar from the top to the bottom of the screen, it makes search button not needed, also back arrow is the same as hitting back key, not needed. There could be button to shift the entire app rendered to the bottom half for one hand use of larger screens. Tabs menu needs to change, that list view requires 2 hands to reach. Old style android tabs menu is the perfect (scrolling pages) and smooth.

  26. romix-avatar

Now browser even more solid. Good progress guys. But I want to point up with you that top right button for menu is not that usable. Make all buttons at the bottom like chrome. And I wish I could customize them (change position, hide some or even add my shortcut (history or url bookmark). Thanks

  27. Joel Zimmerman-avatar

    Joel Zimmerman

I know this is beta, but do you all plan on doing any updates soon? Speedy but needs work. Needs an add to speed dial setting, needs a drop down selection on the address bar to quicky access other search engines, need to shrink those humongous speed dial icons. They are way too big! Keep getting "your connection was interrupted" between every page load. This is not quite ready for prime time.

  28. Axel Inderbitzin-avatar

    Axel Inderbitzin

Very slow and unstable. When in Twitter, it chokes and crashes after watching some videos. When browsing images in Google, it's very hard to zoom in, it takes a long time to react. Chrome is much, much faster and snappy.

  29. Senthamil Selven-avatar

    Senthamil Selven

It has become very slow recently. Page state is not maintained when using other tabs. When I close the last open tab, it takes a few seconds to open the default tab with spead dial. It feels sluggish overall.

  30. Pete M.-avatar

You need to enable add-ins/plug-ins, please. Also, it would be nice to be able to edit the speed dials - I have been unable to determine how/where to do so in this Android beta. Thank you. I LOVE the windows build and anticipate the Android build's maturation!

  31. Laura Betteridge-avatar

    Laura Betteridge

I like it as it is as highly customizable as it says it is, it's not something the developers are saying just to get you to download the app. I also liked what I read about the guys behind Vivaldi, I loved that color is as important to them (Philips Lights integration) as it is to me.

  32. Martin He-avatar

    Martin He

Been a fan of Vivaldi since the beginning, but occasionally when trying to scroll (e.g. on iCloud Notes or BBC News) Vivaldi demonstrates erratic behaviour or simply doesn't scroll. Edit: also I am a frequent user of Lastpass but Vivaldi just doesn't work well with it. Please fix :) Will update to higher rating ;) when resolved

  33. Viperision-avatar

Request Edit: - Long-hold link menu to allow scrolling/seeing whole URL. - Settings for disabling the zoom-in effect when selecting/highlighting characters. - Address bar search engine shortcuts settings (e.g. I want to set Google to "ggl" instead of "g"). Excellent progress for an early browser. Already surpasses other browsers with setting features by far. I'd still use Opera for some ad-blocking but this is a definite improvement to everything else.

  34. Anonymous Watchman-avatar

Use the browser on my desktop as my go to. However using my phone for a bit by pc being down. I would have to say #BlockAdvertisements should be a mibile option for users. That or just recode the entire chromestore addons to work on mobile devices. Other than that i do like and use Vivaldi as my browser of choice. Have totally stopped using opera and chrome.

  35. Jeremy Davis-avatar

Blocking Autoplay videos doesn't work. I constantly have it playing videos on news pages etc and it is frustrating even though the setting says so. Also password managers do not function with Autofill service inside of Vivaldi at all. Works in Firefox, Chrome, Edge just fine.

  36. Andreas Fritsch-avatar

    Andreas Fritsch

It's ok. A few things are still missing. No option to block third party cookies, no extension support or at least built in adblocker. Why do there have to be two UI bars on the top and bottom? One with menu is enough.

  37. Sir Fredrick-avatar

The App is perfect on my Google Pixel 3, couldn't ask for more. However, the browser closes constantly on my Samsung Chromebook 3. Maybe its an issue with Android 7.0, which it currently runs?

Fail! Congrats, I can be tracked with NOTHING BUT YOUR LAME USER AGENT STRING! Why bother setting a cookie i might clear, no need! So how do I set a generic user agent? 3 stars for being a breath of fresh air. Your stars will expire soon. Please fix your browser. You are not the only browser with this problem, but if you put so much work into "do not track" tech, why not start with the low hanging fruit? Next how about self-sync? An encrypted profile saved to my sd card would be nice 👍.

For crying out loud. Make a one step "delete history" button already. I love your browser, but saying this is an improved chrome browser, but still requiring users to click 5 levels deep to delete the history/cookies/whatnot is just ridiculous

Experiencing a weird bug. On my tablet, I have to aim for one line up from the text I intended to select, the touching positioning is off in this browser. Also the sync is flawed. When I log in this mobile version, the bookmarks on my PC version browser get messed up with outdated entries.

  44. John McConnochie-avatar

Very promising. It needs a built-in adblocker and automatic data clearing on exit, but otherwise it's great. Support for extensions would be nice at some point, but it's not a deal-breaker.

  45. Mike Gard-avatar

    Mike Gard

Terrible. Everytime i try to log in i get told my username can't be verified and my password is always refused. Shows promise but needs work on the useless log in process. When i try to contact Vivaldi i get asked for my username which is then not accepted multiple attempts result in being locked out. Can't be bothered anymore.

The only thing that bothers me is that Lastpass is able to detect it as a browser and take fill in my passwords. Chrome does it smoothly. Last pass detects vivaldi as an App and don't fill passwords for the websites.

Has touch screen issues with clicking hyperlinks and etc below the location of the actually depressed zone of you finger..only for my Samsung tablet...annoying usability experience because of this. Before I had Edge as my default browser, but after the last update today, I switched to Vivaldi as my default browser. The web experience is a lot better now

Good start, but obviously more work to be done. Which is perfectly normal for app still in beta.

Definitely needs extension support. If single man Kiwi Browser could do it, I see no reason why Vivaldi team couldn't. Recent Samsung Browser like video assistant would be another nice feature.

Great so far. Fast. Needs: adblocker! Ability to resize icons on speed dail screen, smaller preferred. Ie. Look at Opera.

Works well, but I'm really looking forward to some features implemented that truly make Vivaldi different from Chrome on desktop - keyword searches please!!

Great browser on desktop, now available on mobile and complete with sync. A great alternative to chrome, and must better than Firefox on android.

Needs tabs reorganization to change the tabs order. Tab groups like on desktop would be very useful or saving sessions. Edit: Thanks for adding drag and drop to reorganize tabs

The touch position is below my finger on my tablet. Very hard to navigate when you have to tap above a link or button.

I gave it 4 stars and one star short of perfect because the browser does not wrap the texts when zoom in/out.

I love desktop browser but I can't justify using web browser without adblock function/extension even on smartphone. I will stick with mozilla and brave for android for now.

Search suggestion missing; also text selection menu should be customizable, 'web search' option should be visible.

No Reader Mode? They indicated that Vivaldi has reader mode, but I don't see it anywhere. Since Chrome just dropped this feature I'm looking for a new Android web browser
