Debian, and Kali.
- No need to root your device.
- Use a built-in terminal to access your favorite shells.
- Easily connect to VNC sessions for a graphical experience.
- Easy setup for several common Linux distributions, like Ubuntu and Debian.
- Easy setup for several common Linux applications, like Octave and Firefox.
- A way to experiment and learn Linux and other common software tools from the palm of your hand.
UserLAnd was created and is being actively maintained by the folks behind the popular Android
application, GNURoot Debian. It is meant as a replacement for the original GNURoot Debian app.
When UserLAnd first launches, it presents a list of common distributions and Linux applications.
Clicking one of these then leads to a series of set-up prompts. Once these have been completed,
UserLAnd will download and set up files required to start the task that has been selected. Based on
the set-up, you will then be connected to your Linux distribution or application in a terminal or
VNC viewing Android application.

The best way to install Ubuntu, Arch, and various other Linux distributions, since I can no longer hack myself into these distros using Termux. It is no longer being updated and their servers are unreliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This app is just as fast. For a virtual machine running inside of Android with a 2GHz processor; it is compared to a dual core 3GHz desktop once it has loaded. However, I wish it was native and built the file system in a terminal. It would be faster.

Have not a single problem! I knew very little about Linux and ULAs overall, but being able to use this on the go has gotten me learning Python, Java, and more with my spare time.

Early stages were the best. The app was working perfectly until just a few days ago where it suddenly all of a sudden had a problem while resolving the Kali Linux repo. I tried using Ubuntu and it actually also gave me the same errors...Besides this, there's nothing else I have a problem with and yes,the application is easy to understand and use even if you're just a little bit familiar with Linux just as I am

For those on Android 11 that have issues with /sdcard/Android/data (permission issues) I've found another method. If you download FTP server (by: The Olive Tree) here on Google Play, setup the login info, etc you can access /sdcard via FTP When using FTP from the Linux environment do the following: (Ensure the FTP server is running) run the command: ftp (device ip) (port) and it'll ask you for your login info After you login you'll have full access to /sdcard

It worked for one day. Next day when I ran ubuntu on this App, it would work for a few minutes and closes and it you can't such run ubuntu again unless you restart the phone! After restarting the phone the same problem happens again and again. It is not running for more than a five minutes!

Works pretty well, reasonably document. Advertisements are displayed all the time you are using a desktop that reduce the screen size and move. Apparently no way to pay to get rid of them.

This is garbage compared to what Termux offers. Accept no substitutions. If Termux doesn't work for you, bring a small Linux laptop. While your milege may vary, do not assume that installing this and XSDL Server will turn your Android tablet into a usable "linux-ish" environment. It will not.

It works, and it works well. Thats all you can really ask for, considering that most apps are garbage chutes that are all ripped off each other. I dont ever have lag, its fast to download more stuff and its got a lot of options to choose from. So i would say that the fact im taking the time to write this review should say enough if you want an app like this

Why hasn't this been updated. Kali won't update due to wrong key and it doesn't come with gpg so can't update the key either. Pls update this to resolve this issue.

Extremely useful. Debian distribution is more stable than the other ones. I use a separate app as terminal.
