Recent research suggests that exposure to blue light before sleep may distort your natural (circadian) rhythm and cause inability to fall asleep.

The cause is the photoreceptor in your eyes, called Melanopsin. This receptor is sensitive to a narrow band of blue light in the 460-480nm range which may suppress Melatonin production - a hormone responsible for your healthy sleep-wake cycles.

In experimental scientific studies it has been shown an average person reading on a tablet or smart phone for a couple of hours before bed time may find their sleep delayed by about an hour.

The Twilight app makes your device screen adapt to the time of the day. It filters the flux of blue light emitted by your phone or tablet after sunset and protects your eyes with a soft and pleasant red filter. The filter intensity is smoothly adjusted to the sun cycle based on your local sunset and sunrise times.

2) AMOLED screens: We have tested Twilight on an AMOLED screen for 2.5 years without any sign of depletion or over-burning. If properly configured Twilight causes less light emission (by enabling dimming) with more equal light distribution (dark areas of the screen such as the status bar get tinted). This may in fact increase your AMOLED screen life time.

I have eyeglasses, I read in a Computer website that I use that app for any eye issues while reading infotainment in the Information highway 🤷🏾‍♂️🤟🏾


You can customize the colour and intensity of the filter and when it is on. It also uses your location and time in case you want the filter to emulate sunrise and sunset which is amazing.


This app is good. The new update just works fine except the icon at the notification bar is too bright. Can you fix that?


If you are seroiusly considering healing your eyes from blue light and heart disease from this blue light disturbing sleep, then 5 stars from me helping you by convincing that Twilght is a healthy step in the right direction curing today's sickening epidemic with no trouble, so far, to phone's function... I've used it for a week. I am now on way of changing lifestyle. Thanks to makers of Twilight! for being my easy step of the many hard ones to help heal my sleeping pattern problem!


I've used this app for so long I forgot I had it until I got a new phone and my screen just looked wrong at night. Really great app


**Edit: totally destroys my phones lock screen and home screen photos by making them black. even when I turn the filter off they remain dark. so I've had to uninstall and reinstall to try again* Best colour filter. More red than bright orange which most filters I've used are. Never had a problem with the app


Reducing blue light in the evenings really helps in going to sleep on time. The app is always running but battery consumption is minimal. Unlike f.lux, Twilight doesn't require root. The newly added auto dark mode is cool too.
