Recent research suggests that exposure to blue light before sleep may distort your natural (circadian) rhythm and cause inability to fall asleep.

The cause is the photoreceptor in your eyes, called Melanopsin. This receptor is sensitive to a narrow band of blue light in the 460-480nm range which may suppress Melatonin production - a hormone responsible for your healthy sleep-wake cycles.

In experimental scientific studies it has been shown an average person reading on a tablet or smart phone for a couple of hours before bed time may find their sleep delayed by about an hour.

The Twilight app makes your device screen adapt to the time of the day. It filters the blue spectrum on your phone or tablet after sunset and protects your eyes with a soft and pleasant red filter. The filter intensity is smoothly adjusted to the sun cycle based on your local sunset and sunrise times.

    Used for years on an old LG and loved it. Bought pro version. Battery-friendly, great red filter color. Unfortunately when I installed it on my current phone- a Moto X- I ran into two issues: 1. literally no way to close the program: pause button pauses filter while program runs, but the 'stop' button in the main app sends you to system settings and there is no way to keep it from running in the bg 24/7 2. causes games to lag and sometimes crash while running, even when filter overlay is off

    I thought I had problems sleeping when really these devices were creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. Me using the device until I was tired enough to go to sleep but the lights we're keeping me awake There is sound science backing up how this works with red inducing sleep and blue inducing awakeness modifying the screen for the users benefit I like the adjustability and options of the app as most others I've tried leave much to be desired

    I get migraines from heavy exposure to blue light. I've been using Twilight since 2018 on my android and it has been a lifesaver. I was gifted an iPhone and while trying to find the app for iPhone noticed pro version on sale. I'm fully satisfied with the free version, but I just upgraded to pro because the developers deserve the support. There doesn't seem to be another app like this for iPhone or for windows desktop and I love this app so much I wish I could use it on all my screen devices.

    The best blue light filter for Android I have found. It almost seems like a cliché, reading through the reviews, but it too used the app for over 2 years and was so happy with its functionality, overall design and convinience I switched to pro version. Great work, keep it up! Jen tak dÑl. 😊

    The app is simple to use and does what itbsupposed to be. Very straightforward t obuse, and no annoying ads. I have been using the free app for years and that's good enough for me but I upgraded to Pro because they deserve it. Thank you to the developers.
