Reviews From google play store

Nice app that is very s-l-o-w opening. Some emails do not fit the phone page. Those emails run down the left side of my screen. Double tap to zoom, in hopes of making the page fit, equals a page way to big. Cant 2-finger expand page when needed. No way to advance to next email after deleting, or moving a mail. Could be a real nice app, love the security, just rough around the edges yet.

The only issue I have is there is a lag between recieving the notification of a new email and it showing in the inbox. I have to keep tapping on "inbox" before it will show and sometimes i even have too quit and reopen the app before the email will show in the inbox. This should be looked into and fixed. Other than that its a good app hence the 4 stars

Tutanota is better than ProtonMail from my experience, it let you create more πŸ“‚ folders keep up the good works tutanota team. I'm not sure about custom support services in comparison and I have not contact tutanota about any issues yet. ProtonMail customer support services are suckπŸ‘Ž slow slow like snail 🐌... mail βœ‰ from my experience, it took them like a week, I almost forgot about the issues.

Fast, simple, secure and does not seem to drain battery. I just wish you would get app or email promts/reminders about your saved events in your calendar. Edit: Yes, it works as a reminder now. Thank you.

It looks like you don't want any more customers. I'm trying to sign up for a premium account and every time I get the message "an unexpected error has occurred". I guess I'll go to the competition. :) I am using a One Plus 6T Android 9 , if that helps.

The brand-new dark theme is MUCH better. Please keep this one. Your name (Tutanota) still looks stupid on my CV, though. When I hand my CV to people sometimes they have a weird look on their face when they see my email address.

Great concept. Fix Bug and will give 5 stars. "Bug" is really just that the time delay for sensing a press and hold action is too short. So EVERY TIME I scroll through my emails, it goes into multi-message selection mode. This is VERY annoying. Please fix. PS: And maybe get people of all ages to beta test, not just 26 year old programmers. Not doing this is probably how "bug" happened.

Could not create account on app, repeatedly tells me there was an error. Had to create an account on my browser, then log in on the app. Will see how this email works

I can log in from my desktop but not the app. The app error is "invalid login credentials". I would like to use tutanota as primary but won't go premium until this is resolved. Thank you.

Trying to use this as much as possible, but push notifications are coming in 6-7 hours later, without battery saver.

A little sluggish and a little non-intuitive when deleting emails. Nonetheless, it has almost all the capabilities as the desktop browser equivalent. My issues are with the notification service. I will sometimes get push notifications for new emails, even after I open and read the emails. Doesn't matter if I rad them via the app or desktop site. Also, I am not a fan of the way emails are viewed. There is no zoom capability and the way it goes to the next email after deleting an email. Otherwise, this is still a great alternative to most email providers.

So far I really like this email service, however there are a few things i would change, particularly about the UI. 1. Animations feel too sluggish. Transitions take too long and could use easing 2. The way things are organized is unintuitive. I would only have one main drop down menu, and put everything under that in categories. Settings, for example, creates another drop down on the left where one would think the exit would be. 3. Theming! (edit:I meant custom themes but I wasRunningOutOfSpace)

I think, it's the first time I write the feedback on playmarket, I just want to say "thank you". I have been looking for such a service for at least 5 years, meanwhile struggling with setting up my server, editing DNS, forwarding my emails to and from GMail, etc. You ended my misery in half an hour. And, ye, it costs me an euro per month (while simple VPS is around 4). Thanks you.

I don't like how they treat your payments, so every month I pay a £€1.20 fee and they invoiced me but I've not been charged through PayPal or anything its been days overdue and I like to pay on the day of the invoice, payments are extremely vague.

Unable to access email account a few times recently. Error: "A temporary error occured on the server. Please try again at a later time". Availability needs to be improved to be of use as a main mail address. Same error via website (Win10) by the way so it seems to be a server issue. Disappointingly unreliable.

The notification system is not working properly. I have to check my new e-mails by starting the app every time. I checked my phone's notification settings and everything seems fine but, still, I do not get the notifications directly. ----------------------------------------- I did what you said. Although it solved the new mail notification problem, now the app shows notifications for no reason and only for a moment. Then, it disappears. Probably I'm not going to use Tutanota anymore.

Great product..love the idea that you can encrypt email to non tutanota users with the password key option. The layout is simply and easy to use with not too many useless option that most people never use. Still getting use to it but I'm more sure I will go for the paid option because I like what I see so far in..

I love the app, including the whole security concept. Definitely worth my support for a few aliases. I'm fairly new to Android and idiot@keyboard apparently, it took me some time to realize I had to go to system settings, notifications, to make the app give me my preferred audio for email. :o)

So far I adore this app!! I only have two minor suggestions to make it a bit more fun and user friendly: the ability to "star" or somehow mark messages as "important", and color themes (appearance options) besides light and dark. Other than that, big kudos to you! I purchased the premium account, by the way. 😊

App currently has serious bugs. You're forced to repeatedly login & logout before new emails will be displayed. The zoom capability (or complete lack thereof) is awful – you need a magnifying glass to read many of your emails. The folder functionality is working well thoughΒ°; and the time-saving feature of not having to constantly manually re-type the email address of contacts (like you're forced to do in Gmail) is very handy. Β° Although the bug of being locked into a fixed folder needs fixing.

Why there is a white line on right side of the screen on new dark theme (ver. 3.60.12)?

Great email provider app. The app works well and is well designed.

Love the app so much! I just wanted to say that I would have happily joined the paid version by now if there was the possibility to access emails without internet. Beside that, everything else is awesome! Bravo

I've been using Tutanota since years now, and i like the fact that they put a lot of concern regarding security, what i don't like is that some Emails that are important can end up landing in the spam folder, that costed me some money once.

Why do you encrypt emails with AES 128 instead of 256 ? I tried to make the switch, but this product is missing 2 major features that I want. AES 256 and timed email like protonmail does. I will not switch for now, but I will reconsider if you have this features. Overall this application seems awesome after all. Sidenote: AES 128 is good for now, but will be broken in few years with the arrival of quantum computers.

The app failes to display most emails correctly, just like the desktop and web version do, too. I really hope this will be fixed, because I very much like tutanota in all other ways.

I can't receive push notifications even though I enabled notifications for email, enabled auto start and disabled battery saver on MIUI settings. The only way to receive is when opening the app. I have a Pocophone F1.

This is a great email service! I love the easy interface and the encryption.

Its a great encrypted mail service. I love how the email address ends 'tuta.io" short and neat. Love the services.

Will you consider adding offline support? For both emails and calendar, that's really something you feel the lack of when travelling.

Very secure. No more junk and phishing and spam. Very happy with service thus far.

This is an amazing email service. Hands down, everything works as expected

New update that was suppose to fix the eternal loading bar with no new emails....and it still yet to be fixed

Slow loggining, slow loading, very often server errors... edit: 4β˜† because of continue updating and added email scaling.

Excellent, most secure email application ever!

Previously free features are now available only for the premium users e.g. email search older than 1 month.

Buggy app, always seems slow. Overall very unpolished feel.

Why is the Tutanota App forcing itself as my main email application on my Android device? No matter what I change it to, it defaults back to Tutanota.

Now viewing emails through this app on my device (S10+) has improved with latest update, the app works as promised. Thanks Dev.

All feature awesome but contact exporting and importing feature missing ... Please add it

Excellent gmail replacement, encrypted and save your time from setting up your own email server

Keeps vibrating my phone with fake notifications even though no new letters are in.

Weekly outages and constant updates make this unreliable.

I forgot my password. Can't get in my account since your website keeps asking me to put security code and I don't lnow whay security code they want! Please you just send link to my rmail address? I want to log in my account! Thamkyou!

Highest level of a secure email account and service on the planet!

Good email no need for phone number verification.

Has potential. Love the idea. However, I have not been able to receive alarms/notifications which means the calendar is not so useful. Even with battery optimization turned off, on android 9, it does not work. I also downloaded the desktop client and never received notifications. Seems to be some issues with setting alarms as well. I understand that in the past there was the ability to import contacts. I believe that said that it was a bug and they were repairing the problem. I have been checking for weeks and there has been no change. Many people would love to get away from google, Hotmail/outlook, and others, but are not going to want to enter contacts manually. I was considering the premium service, but there needs to be a response to something as critical as a problem importing contacts. Therefore, without a calendar with alarm/notifications, and no simple way to import contacts, I have uninstalled the desktop and Mobile app. You have great ideas, it just needs work. Good Luck.

After the last update it's working well now. Thanks!

I really like tutanota email for long time But suddenly now I cant"t access neither the app nor even the website here from Egypt for a while I can' access my emails anymore now Please I need help as this email account is essintial to me

Best update for horizontal and vertical fix

Seriously needs to be fixed. Everytime I am writing an email and switch windows on Android to copy something from a browser to paste on the email message, I end up losing the email message I was writing. The app logs in again every time a window is switched, and information is lost. I appreciate their commitment to privacy and security, but this is just too big of a problem. It needs to be fixed urgently.

Excellent Signing up proces. Works well except the notifications on my Asus smartPhone. It works only if I'm already logged-in. The message informing a recipient at a different provider that he/she received an email needs visual improvement. Excellent start! Please continue improving it. Allowing up to 2 aliases to free account would make it the best choice. European expat in Canada thanks you for this secure service

The app doesn't allow you to zoom in and out so all my emails are displayed improperly. Double tapping doesn't work either. I like the email service, but the app sucks.

Terrible. Use Protonmail instead.

The app experience is great and the idea behind this project is exceptional. Nevertheless, there's one huge problem, I need to access the app in order to see new received emails whereas in other apps I simply get a notification in the taskbar or notification bar. If you fix this I'll give you 4 stars

Is this app written using Electron? It's very slow and ugly. How about building a real Android app?

Has this email service been hacked? I received an email from suppot@tutanota "tutanata" telling me my emails did not meet guidelines if I did not login to a foreign server.

Great app never had a problem with log ins at all always been perfect even when not using for a while, only 4 stars due to that fact it cant push notifications so i have to check everday instead of getting a notification only downside

I think it's suspicious that a privacy email service doesn't allow subscription payment even using pseudonymous cryptocurrency. That feature was promised years ago, and still somehow nowhere in sight on the devs' priority list. Seems like the clearest indicator that the talk of significant privacy at Tutanota is just talk.

Nice and secure encrypted email service

I was still using Google for the Calender, now I can completely diss them the new Tuta Calendar is awesome easy to use and with a side of Encryption if you need that, it is not that I dont like Google I just dont like they have so much power over my data.

Keep up the good work! Amazing app, very responsive and lightweight. This is one of many email client app that's small in size and also function really well which I really like.

Just transitioned to Tutanota as my primary email provider and I'm loving it so far. It is comforting to know that my emails aren't being used for advertisements or tracking purposes. I'm excited for what new features Tutanota will reveal in the future!

This app locks up when I enter a text message on my Galaxy S8

Emails such as forgot password or anything in general that you need right away take forever to arrive in your inbox. terrible service, you can't refresh manually, and you can't even multi select emails. ive used this garbage for over a year now and it's time to switch.

Tutanota is a fast, simple, free, encrypted email provider, which in my opinion offers the best alternative to other unsecure and not-private email services. The addition of the new encrypted calendar makes it even better.

Great service. Eagerly awaiting UX improvements with regards to zooming and scrolling.

great app ,great UI , but needs more improvement... sometimes the server is not accessible for checking your emails.... otherwise everything is great..

LAG, LAG, Lag City! Whenever I go to type a reply or a new email, the app takes about 5-10 seconds to pull up my keyboard and then when it does, input is TERRIBLY jerky and lags.

Good thing your release notes for this update say you fixed an iOS database issue. Pretty important since we're on Android, not iOS.

I have been using Tuta for a little less than 5 years now and I'm really grateful to the people who have been putting so much effort into developing it. Thank you :)

Excellent service and a good app. I experienced no issues. I recommend trying it out.

App is so Slow and unresponsive on Samsung. Deleted emails never disappear until app is reopened!

Garbage. They don't give you an email nor respond when you contact them to fix it. Don't bother

They keep blocking my registration

User friendly and secured

Having labelling system would be great, folders can be limitating.

please add a feature to check sender's full email address to prevent phishing scam.

Calendar functionality !! time to switch from Proton.

Everything is ok, all I want to see is good UI update.

A really good privacy based email service.

I like the app, easy to use. I am very excited for more new features.

Great secure mail app, easy to use :-)

Just perfect and in every way better than Protonmail

Quite love with this app, keep improve.

Works well. User friendly.

One out of the best most important e-mail systems that is easy to use. If it can be somewhat usable while offline, like Gmail, it will be very much in demand. I like its black background or dark mode, its message adjustment between Confidential and Unlocked, and the fact that it is free with at least 500 MB of storage.

Awesome mail client!!

Overall it's a good app. However, recently (after the last update) I was forced to deduct 1 star as Tutanota is no longer syncing correctly. EVERY SINGLE TIME I need to clear cache and do a forced stop before it'll begin working again properly. Furthermore, its overall glacial speed is really getting on my nerves – sometimes I'm waiting for 3 or 4 minutes for the darn thing to display new emails πŸ“§. πŸ‘Ž Note to developer: all the 'details' you need I've already outlined here.

App in its current form is almost unusable. It NEVER saves your login details. The developers at Tutanota headquarters are clueless. They're so condescending that they wanted me to send them a video proving that I was selecting the 'Store password' checkbox. I kid you not! This app has been broken a few iterations back. Moreover, the scrolling and zooming is horrible – despite the developers promising to fix it at the start of 2019. πŸ‘Ž Stay clear of Tutanota – it's not fit for purpose.

It is quick to sync and I always have my latest mail. Nice simple design with a feel of security. Although without a security pin to unlock the app, it does feel like a compromise on their security. Besides the lack of a pin the security feels solid and the method of sending encrypted mail works well. I would also appreciate an option for contacts and calendar to integrate in Android local callander and contacts app. If these two features are added it would be the ultimate Mail app. Thanks.

No Longer works properly. App says I have a message but when I click on the notification there are no new messages and the sync icon is constantly on. My phone is telling me this app is a constant drain on my phone. My phone went from lasting almost 2 days to only lasting 10-12 hours. What ever was done in the last 3 or 4 updates broke this app. The calendar is now unusable. It has the same events 10-20 times a day and I can not delete.

Excellent mail service. πŸ‘

Quite frankly appalling performance. It always seems to cease working for hours at a time right when I really need it. Somehow the app is far more stable than the Web interface but even the app too faces a lot of downtime. I was honestly considering paying for this service back in the early days but with every future update performance gets worse. Doesn't matter if I am on 4G or WiFi. At the time of writing neither the website or app work. Definitely do not recommend.

I would love to use this service but the level of functionality, particularly folders and filtering doesn't come close to matching that offered by FastMail. If I was to switch I'd really miss regex filtering and automatically clearing folders, (who wants to delete old, expired, emails manually these days?). FastMail is perfect except for the lack of encryption and secure contact forms, reach feature parity and I'll switch.

I love this app, encypted email and Calendar that can connect between desktop and mobile The only thing it is missing is the ability to set a pin lock on the mobile app. Otherwise a great service

i used the service for about 9 months.. i paid for the pro version. then suddenly they canceled my service because of spam. In my business all I do is send emails to customers of banks and credit unions that agreed to recieve emais and all the emails said please contact me regarding your vehicle insurance claim maybe 2 to 5 a day at the most. I don't see this as spam. Their reply was we don't care no refund for the 4 months you had prepaid & they blocked from replying to their email. Bad service

Love it. I feel like I have a third party making an Email service purely for me. Individul in its purpose backed by a secure core. Also a refreshing change seeing any updates and tweeks are a result of the communitees needs. Start switching now!

Good app, however I think it's worth pointing out that there are often delays in notifications coming through about having received an email. For example, today I was using the desktop version on my laptop and received an email, however the notification didn't come through on my phone until almost 2 hours later. Otherwise, it's a very enjoyable mail app.

I feel a bit annoyed, I thought it was just a matter of time until it is more comfortable to use... But with Tutanota you can't conduct a search through your emails, for example. You'd have to scroll down endlessly to get to old things. All in all I feel stuck with it because I'd have to do some research again for another provider with similar security features which I at the moment don't have time for, then redistribute a new address to all the lists etc. Meanwhile I'm paying for a service that doesn't seem to be worth it, since I avoid the use of this uncomfortable email software. (On PC and phone both)
