TrekMe is an Android app to get live position on a map and other useful information, without ever needing an internet connection (except when creating a map). It's ideal for trekking, biking, or any outdoor activity. In this application, you create a map by chosing the area you want to download. Then, your map is available for offline usage (the GPS works even without mobile data). Other topographic map sources will be added. Particular attention was given to efficency, low battery usage, and smooth experience. A large map can be quite heavy and may not fit into your internal memory. If you have an SD card, you can use it. • Import, record, and share GPX files • Marker support, with optional comments • Real-time visualization of a GPX record, as well as its statistics (distance, elevation, ..) • Orientation, distance, and speed indicators • Measure a distance along a track For instance, all map providers are free, except for France IGN - which requires an annual subscription. If you have an external GPS with bluetooth*, you can connect it to TrekMe and use it instead of the internal GPS of your device. This is especially useful when your activity (aeronautic, professional topography, ..) requires better precision and updating your position at a higher frequency than every second. (*) Supports NMEA over bluetooth During a GPX recording, the app collects location data even when the app is closed or not in use. I tried to "create a map as directed ;" it is not user friendly. There were no instructions pertaining to how to do it. Also even with my glasses on I couldn't read the tiny print; neither could I expand it for magnification.

OMG, days of searching and uninstalling horrible apps and BAM.. This one comes along and nails it. Offline contours, saved gpx overlays with descriptions. My use is off road trail riding in the mountains. I'm so damn happy 😁. My search is over

You can't see tracks that you create and I can't download large maps. The dumb thing is is that you have to download maps. Normal GPS apps have inbuilt maps. If you have the same problem as me, try Gaia GPS.

Downloaded to use when hiking to track my route and use map. I downloaded 1 map, which added over 1,000 photos to my gallery. Couldn't see the map in the app so I uninstalled. Then spent 30 minutes deleting all the photos.

Like the ideas of offline local track app to save data and be served in bucolic areas. It fits technical users but needs to be more user friendly to promote the ideas to generic users. Thanks.
