It does the job but is a bit rough. The app runs even after you close it and you have to navigate a poorly designed UI to figure out how to shut it down. It could use a lot of optimization or even just a decent competitor to force it to innovate more. But it gets the job done so I can't complain too much

  2. George Dimitropoulos-avatar

    George Dimitropoulos

Consumption calculation should return zero when throttle is 0% and revs diminish alongside vehicle's velocity, since this implies deceleration in gear, in which case the ECU obviously cuts off injectors' fuel supply. Please add a carburetor option where this is not the case. Consumption calculation takes into account displacement, RPM, intake temp, boost and assumes λ=1. Averaging did not produce anything yet although trip is known. Prompt to set displacement on app startup during first run.

  3. Claudio Fagundes-avatar

    Claudio Fagundes

I love the many features this app has if I had one complaint it would be that under settings switching the units from kilometers to miles and temperatures from Celsius to Fahrenheit does not seem to work on every display widget unless I have yet to figure out how to do so

  4. welshy 46-avatar

    welshy 46

Doesn't hook up to my odb2 reader and it seems the whole purpose of the app is just to harvest all of the data on your mobile. An odb scan tool does not need access to your phone's images, video and call information to read your car's ECU.

  5. Rowan Sharman-avatar

    Rowan Sharman

It works but the UI is terrible. Tap through several menus to get fault codes. Display positioning is buggy and widgets don't snap into place at all. Why is this the OBD app that people talk about, there are so many better ones?!

  6. Luis Carrillo-avatar

    Luis Carrillo

Has plenty of different themes that you can download. The dashboard mirror display is pretty cool. As far as codes reading it's been amazing and also included alot of other readings like o2 sensor viotages, mpg, gps vs comp speed temps and all that.

  7. Jas Nepaul-avatar

    Jas Nepaul

Didn't read my WiFi adapter whereas all the other apps do. This isn't down to 'a cheap eBay/Amazon adapter' as the software warns you of. It's an issue with the software itself.

I have expensive software that could not clear the "check engine" light on a Mini Cooper R56 but this free lite version of torque did it without a problem.. my respect.. if no other then only for this reason I am buying the paid version. Thanks!

The app and it's functionality is great, but I'm giving 1 star because once you open the app, you can never close it. It always stays in the notification tray with "torque is idle", slowly chewing it's way through my battery life. A quick Google search shows this bug being discussed back in 2011, and almost a decade later it's still not fixed. I was considering upgrading to pro but I don't want to uninstall the app (and lose all customization) every time I want to not use it.

  10. James Rolls-avatar

I wanted this app, for now, to monitor turbo boost on my Colorado Z71 Duramax Diesel. It would also be useful if I could monitor exhaust gas temps to be informed about regens, but I have yet to figure out how to get this up. I also am not able to project a combination of readouts I want to see, but I will be researching all this on the links provided in the app later. Up till now, I haven't had any codes to read, and I am thankful for that. Maybe later, after more research, I will do the Pro.

  11. John De Leon-avatar

Using the Wi-Fi connection feature. Never connects. Always just says "checking protocols: automatic search". Unable to perform any functions or view any information. Only says not connected to ECU.

  12. Mark Wojcik-avatar

Works. With a cheap Bluetooth OBD reader, will give you important information about your car & save you hundreds if your garage is difficult. Interface is sort of experimental, but usable.

Hi I love your app but I cant find anything in the app that let's you monitor misfires as the car is running i was reading the reviews and saw were you had posted if there wasnt something in the app to suggest it and you would try to add it misfire monitoring is a pretty important thing to help diagnose your cars problems it would be awesome if you could add this in the app I dont no maybe the pro version would have it but I would hate to pay for it and it not be on that app either

This app could be great.... but it isn't. themes won't load and the setup is weird. I haven't had any issues with force closing or freezing. Connects to my cheap ebay elm just fine

Tried the lite to see if it's worth upgrading. It's not for my Galaxy S8 plus. The units always go back to (default) Celcius from Farenheit. The (Large)Dials seem to slowly drift upward when phone is in any orientation. I'll try to swipe it but it will go to next page and all pages will be not centered. I have to reset all and do it again anytime I exit out of app to text or check GPS navigation. I return to a less then good experience. Not able to move around added dials. They default to cntr

I ran this app for a while on my old phone. When I upgraded the app permissions changed, and I am just not OK with some of your permissions. It does work well to read my 12 dollar chinese OBD bluetooth device. But is just growing too permission invasive for me.

  17. Mark Richmond-avatar

Very simple installation. A warning about a Bluetooth conflict, but it didn't apply to me apparently. Also designed for a previous version of Android, but seems to work just fine on my newest of the new. Very simple integration, and immediately cleared an unnecessary engine warning light. Excellent!

  18. Sam Wagstaff-avatar

    Sam Wagstaff

Update: Now it is reading my radiator temp over 100 degrees lower than before. Other apps, continue to read my radiator temp the same as it should. Not this app. Not sure what changed......This is now on the display and the dial. Good thing that I did not pay for this. I like the ability to change and re-arrange the displays and types. I just installed this and testing it out. I noticed while using all 3 types of displays for the Engine Coolant temp, all 3 do not give the same temp. The graph shows the temp alot lower. The other 2 show the same temp. Not sure if this happens with other sensors yet, but it does for the Coolant. So far I like it. No problems connecting to Bluetooth and staying connected.

Couldn't ask for more from a free obdii tool. It would be nice to backup layouts but honestly not a deal breaker. To exit the app, use your back button.

  20. Cameron Turner-avatar

    Cameron Turner

Yes, you can shut it off. In the app go to the menu at the bottom select exit. In giving this 4 stars, probably should be 3 partly for this issue, the app is not very intuitive to operate. Also the free version does not allow toggling controls. I'm going to try the pro version.

  21. Christopher Richard-avatar

Blank screen when opening the app. Doesnt have any buttons to address issues. The app should have a button to scan for its own devices nearby.

  22. Gola Voda-avatar

It just showing one thing correctly and it's RPM gauge, otherwise it's just wasting of time to ad all that stuff such a RPM gauge, fuel levell etc. to display. Can't find a fault code at all, after I install Torque Pro it find it right away and everything what you need is already added to displey.

3 mins including installation time and the app told me why the engine light was on. It was an old problem that I had fixed years ago, so i hit clear fault codes and boom! No more check engine light. This app is wicked good!

The software is good, but look and feel is kinda old, not very intuitive and clean (I prefer Car Scanner for dashboards) and the developer is not actually very responsive/supportive (I think I was blocked on the forum just because asking about bugs)

App is OK to get basic information. Worked on an old Nexus 7 tablet with Android 6, but not on Pixel 3a with Android 10. It caused the Settings app to quit whenever the Bluetooth setting was accessed so impossible to pair.

  38. Robert Taubman-avatar

    Robert Taubman

Like many have said, the user interface is clunky, confusing, and hard to use. Very little help is available. You have to know how to use a scanner to figure out what you need. However the price is free and you get just enough functionality to tempt you to buy the full version which supposedly corrects many of these flaws.

  39. brian gordon-avatar

    brian gordon

Pretty good so far just got a bluetooth adapter to use this with and it was a bit confusing with the dials and display. I do think a standard setup should be used to give users an example of what they could do with the app. But it is the free version. I didn't see a tutorial "may have missed it" I like it enough to buy the paid version after I test it for a few days.

  40. Geoffrey Hurley-avatar

    Geoffrey Hurley

Great app. Works well with my cheap chinese elm327. Most gauges dont seem to work but am happy with mpg, voltage & temp on my Chrysler. (Shame no oil pressure though!) Doesnt matter as I want it to find out why the occasional & pesky 'engine' warning light intermittently light illuminates.....(. hasnt yet come on since OBD reader fitted! Typical!!) May buy the pro version once used to the functionality.

I have to continuously keep adding the displays that I want on the screen every time the app closes. If I close the app all displays I set for my car disappear and I have to put them all back whenever I restart the app. This is not a good design. It is very frustrating. Uninstalling and finding a different app.

I leave one in both my cars at home and I have another obd bluetooth adapter I use at work to check and clear codes... This app is just awesome.... I do not even need the pro version. But I am going to buy it to support the app... I am sure the pro version is much better...

Didn't work at all for my Vauxhall Ampera. Paired with a Torque Pro ELM 327 purchased from Amazon, with the special mention "works with your Vauxhall Ampera", as soon as it connected with my phone car went absolutely bananas! I didn't got to access the app so see how it works. Just connected Bluetooth with my S 10+ and BAM! Lots of faults "Engine unavailable please service" and like 5 more. Car went dead! It costed me 100£ RAC breakdown to get it to run again. This app should come with a WARNING!

cool app.. Why does your "Permissions" need to see my phone number??.. Why do you need my device ID? Why does your app need to see if a "call is active" ?? Why does your app need to see the "remote number connected to the call? I'd call that "spying" ...but other terms are possible... ***Disable the unnecessary Permissions in these Apps & its worth buying*** since you keep them on in the paid for versions....

I'm no expert, but it serms to pull some basic info on my Hyundai iLoad. The user interface is easy to follow but needs improvement. Some suggestins to the developer: 1. Make moving gauges easier, similar to android desktop icon move procedure 2. Allow changing a display from one type to another, rather than having to delete and add again 3. When picking the gauge value from the list, it would be nice to see the current value next to the item so one can see if the gauge value is supported

I wish i had more room to write! I was blown away with what this app could do with a $10 interface from Amazon, it out performs my more expensive hand scanner! I had EXTREMELY low expectations when i got this but i was dead wrong. So much more available data then i expected, so many customizable options, never mind its faster than my hand scanner. I used the app for 1 day then bought the Pro app just to support the developer. I never pay for apps or write reviews, so what does that tell you?

  55. Tony Tuite-avatar

Works well enough, but the interface is clunky and dated. Default "dashboard" is multiple instruments stacked on top of each other, and unstacking them means tap/hold for a full 2 seconds, select "move" from menu, then tapping again. App could do with lots of modernization. Otherwise works great.

I got this lite since j got a cheap little reader.found out the reader Didnt work. So i got a different one and it worked. Liked it so much that i upgraded to pro. I wanted to leave this review to say the looks and all the stuff are confusing but to do the simple thing of checking the code on the check engine light and resetting it is what i needed. This app made me feel like to buy a real good reader. The new expansive reader has its own app i always use this app to for find out the codes and reset them since its easier on this one. I was reading reviews that the app would disappear but for me it has never been the case. I got the pro version a few years back and still shows up as paid even after getting a new phone and having to reinstall it.

App interface needs work, requiring long press to move displays around makes it long and annoying, especially considering evertime the app updates, I have to re-input my displays. Incredibly annoying as you only find out once you start the app when you need it. Searching for alternatives as I have had to redo the displays 4 times in the last month alone....

  58. Kris Bryant-avatar

App runs constantly, even when not using the OBD2 module and when its not open, and kills my phone battery super quick. Also, the main screen/dashboard of the app moves halfway off of the screen whenever my OBD module isn't connected so i can't see half of my gauges/displays or adjust/delete any of them without my car running which is very annoying. Fix these issues and it will be a 5 star app because other than those issues, it works fine.

This is a wonderful App; which has a full range of options that include: Checking/erasing fault codes, Diagnostic monitoring of key engine and transmission components, Engine RPM/Speed, water temperature and the list goes on. Perhaps the greatest value is its price point in comparison to other over the counter scan tools.

Now phone shuts off ALL DAY LONG! Literally on/off every 5min. or so. I hear T-Mobile restart jingle all day. Need APP to fix car. Uninstall after 4 sure. Get real gauges instead. PROS: Gauges and scanner saved me $$$ within 5min. of download. Would've changed wrong part. Looks nice PLZ FIX! Samsung Note9

Torque Lite recognized my "OBD KEY" Bluetooth adapter without issue. It allowed me to diagnose a DTC on my wife's car, and clear it. You must enable storage permissions for must functions to run, which is understandable. Why the app needs phone permissions is unknown, but I disabled it and WiFi. Bottom line, my Bluetooth OBDII adapter from 2011 worked as advertised. Now, I want to try out some of the "normal" features, and maybe pickup the paid version.

This app has saved me soo much time & money! Easily one of the absolute best gizmos I have for my cars, and possibly my favorite app. It simply works the way it should. Thanks for a great product! (doesn't give fuel pressure reading for my Jeep but I need to look into that)

It was great 5 stars until the sender stopped working. Now nothing works. And I can't buy another sender. Because it doesn't have a option to purchase another unit. And can't purchase another unit because the company still thinks I have it. And system still thinks I still have the sender. That's pretty messed up. Tried to start over new but it won't give me the option. So 1 star for lesson learned

Free, reliable when you need it, and the OBD2 plug-in is cheap and goes to power saving mode when not used.

Cannot get the app to clear codes on ECU. There is an option that says clear fault codes but it doesn't turn off the check engine light! Thought they had that in th past.

the app does connect to my obd2 bouetooth adapter and it has some other nice features, but the interface is real bad. For example, I have to add every dial/graph/etc back every time i get in the car! That just doesnt work for me. 2010 Lincoln MKZ.

This app is A-1. Find the codes. Inform you on the problem and delete the codes. I use it with the 20 dollar Micro Mechanic from target and it was just what the Dr ordered. Is also does a boat load of things that I'm not interested in at the moment. I love it. Thanks

Get the full version it is worth it! Worked on Toyota Highlander, Sienna, Corolla, Camary, Subaru Impreza and Chevy Impala. Reads timing, radiator Temp, rpm and Maf data very well accurately. It clears codes and actively scans for them. Wish I could see transmission codes and do some real time recording with app. Like seeing transmission shift points and where the clunk is. Works with cheap ebay blue colored plugin adapter, think it's a clone adapter. Adapters sold separately! Also wish app dials we were adjustable on the fly. Very cumberson way to set them up on screen readouts. Also diffrent cars need diffrent readouts for sensors. Takes a long time to figure out which cars have what sensors working. And if it is available on app read out. Although once setup it works great. Wish I could record realtime data.😕😆

USED to show codes, even identify a few. Now has a BLAND look/skin. (display is hideous) it doesn't show much running then if & when codes pop up, it doesn't recognize them or identify any nor has the ability to delete them. Why does everything have to be a trick fu..k?

for the most part this product for my vehicle which is a Chevy Cruze it reads my problems pretty decently only a few times to give me a cold that is not exact what's wrong with my car but I think it has nothing to do with the product sometimes I think your car problems maybe invert from another problem he needs to be taken care of for example I had a PCV valve cold but eventually it was the purge valve that was actually bad but in reality all of those is tied into the emission system so sometimes

I use this for the first time, it connected right away show me the problem, which I almost knew hundred percent what the problem was, exactly, I needed a new gas cap it was leaking, and it told me exactly what I thought perfect.

Major flaw makes it annoying to use. Frequently resets dash setup and you have to rebuild the layout from scratch. Big waste of time. Pro version has same bug. Needs an export/import dash setup feature, not just import the style of the layout.

this app is a godsend. has saved me a ton of money in repair fees by essentially forcing me to learn to fix my car my own self, and I'm thankful for it. tons of features for a free app and works like a charm everytime. thanks torque!

Tried this Torque Lite couple days and almost send my OBD2 gadget back for refund, because it was like 3-10 sec delay from OBD2 sensor. Keeps reporting "your OBD scanner is faulty", no matter of settings or tips on screen. Then tried other apps and I see all is good, no delay. Appears to be my OBD2 scanner ir in perfect condition! If Torque Lite its so rubbish app, Im not even thinking about Torque Pro. So angry that this Torque app misleading people to think that something wrong with OBD2 sensor

Amazing app had ignition issues and needed to clear before restarting engine with new plugs and coil pack. Also picked up another code which was a breather pipe that was disconnected from the supercharger intake. Car now runs perfect and the codes have not come back.

Works perfect with my Ford and a free market no name Bluetooth obd2. Great app. Great help. Turns off only when you push the "quit" button. If you close the app without pushing "quit" the app runs in the background and sucks your battery empty.

Unless you don't listen to Pandora while driving your sweet ride after you just fixed, steer clear of this app. Ever since I downloaded this app Pandora has never worked the same for me. even after uninstalling and messing with all possible settings. pandora just stops streaming. Never had an issue before. My advice is to return the product and just get a regular scanner.

I have had Two cars fuel pumps guit immediately after scanning. One was in for a no spark issue and the other for a timing belt. There is no reason for this to happen, my other scanner says that it now has an open loop on fuel pressure sensor. This is costing me more money than it is l worth

Excessive permissions requested! This app is on the slippery slope toward spyware. It should use bluetooth and location, that's it. Had it on my old phone but I won't tolerate apps requesting unnecessary perms on the new phone. Too bad, it was a good app.

Perfect OBD2 reader app, but it's in need of an update. Does everything it should, works with every $4 OBD2 adapter, yet it severely needs help in the UI department. On an 18:9 screen, nothing is clickable when trying to use the app full screen.

I paid for the full version put it on my phone then had it on my tablet sat nav so removed it from my phone and it removed it from my sat nav. I ain't paying twice I'm gutted. If you pay for an app and uninstall it from one device it should not remove from all devices
