In a world of fantasy, called Terra Mystica, 14 races are fighting together or individually against their opponents to gain power and territory. Using their resources smartly and terraforming wisely to gain supremacy and lead their own settlers to victory. The original digital conversion of the highly decorated Terra Mystica board game of Helge Ostertag and Jens Drögemüller. Play against other players world wide or challenge the computer opponent.

Overview:

Terra Mystica is a strategy game with a simple game principle and very little luck involved: You govern one of 14 factions trying to transform the Landscape on the game board in your favor in order to build your Structures. On the one hand, proximity to other players limits your options for further expansion, on the other hand though, it provides some benefits during the game. This conflict is the source of Terra Mystica's appeal.

Structures may be upgraded to provide even more resources, like Workers, Priests, Coins and Power. Build Temples to gain more influence in the four Cults of Fire, Earth, Water, and Air . Build your Stronghold to activate your group's special ability. Expand and build new Dwellings to have a lot of Workers at hand. Or make sure to have a constant flow of Coins by building Trading Posts.

The 14 artfully designed factions, each having unique special abilities, as well as the exchangeable bonus cards allow for a large number of possible game plays that constantly keep this game entertaining!

A formerly excellent game that now no longer works. The send priest button no longer functions, effectively breaking the entire game. Do not buy until they fix it.

I don't normally leave 1 star reviews, but I did pay $10 for this, so it needs to be seen. I'm brand new to the game, but I think I understand the rules enough. There's a bug with terraforming; I have the option to choose it as an action, and then I choose the land that's highlighted and when I do, I'm not able to choose the land on the spades screen. All the lands or some of them are not selectable. Please fix this and other game breaking bugs people have mentioned. In 2 Easy AI opponent game.

Very frustrating. The app often wants to trash my power (purple cubes) even when I have the resources to take an action. The AI gets insanely high scores and it's difficult to follow how they are doing it as there's no explanation of points being awarded. It seems like the AIs never run out of resources. Between being robbed of power and the lowest level AIs earning 20-25 points per turn it's hard to escape last place. The tabletop game isn't 1/4 as difficult.

The game is just like the board game. The graphics are ok, but nothing flashy. However, the AI keeps refusing to take their turn. It's happened 3 games in a row and there's no way to finish the game. I would play with human opponents, but there doesn't seem to be a way of I'm playing with a friend.

  5. Yotsuba-avatar

TM is a great game and the app is pretty decent but I do sometimes run in to issues like playing as Ice Maidens and suddenly the game refuses to let me take a terraform and build action.

  6. Bradley Scott-avatar

Would get 5 stars except for a few problems: 1. Game will freeze in the middle 2. Unable to save a game. If I have to stop mid game it will cancel the game 3. The graphics will screw up and wont be able to see my resources or opponents resources. 4. When asked to use free shovel, if you say yes but actually have no way to use it you get put in limbo and cant move forward or back. That's all I can think of. Rest of the game is amazing.

  7. Jonessa G.-avatar

    Jonessa G.

The overall experience is great against AI. It loses 2 stars for the following: 1. When given the option to take purple mastery in exchange for VP, you cannot view the board. My decision might be affected if there is an action still available to turn in for the mastery. 2. When playing online, I run out of time while waiting for an opponent. Why is my time affected by an opponent? I have "played" 5 online games, but never even gotten past set up because time runs out on someone elses turn.

5/5 because: It can become turn-based; you have several hours to make a move. You can play with friends and/or with AI. Everything is explained with the tutorials, if you have played TM at least once, you will get used to the interfaces really fast. No bug (I've been playing with 2 friends and with AI for a month now). No ad. You can cancel your action before confirming your turn. You can see the next income you will get at the next round. There is a scoreboard that you can check anytime.

  9. Richard Falkner-avatar

    Richard Falkner

This is the worst tutorial I've ever used. The 'intro' section just threw a bunch of characters spewing incomprehensible lore at me, and then asked me to press a button I hadn't been shown yet, in a cluttered interface I know nothing about. Skipped to the next tutorial "basic controls' and it referred to things that are not visible onscreen, and then another instruction to press a button I can't find. Spent $10, Tried two tutes, couldn't complete the first instruction of either. Pathetic.

  10. Choss Media-avatar

    Choss Media

The board game is amazing and the app does work. The UI/UX is very poor though. A good example of why the interface segregation principal exists. Every single button and text field in the whole game is 10 pixels tall on one screen. Makes it tedious to control and view info. Would strongly prefer to have separate windows to view income, the resources of other players, ect
