Stellarium Mobile - Star Map is a planetarium app that shows exactly what you see when you look up at the stars.

Identify stars, constellations, planets, comets, satellites (such as the ISS), and other deep sky objects in real time in the sky above you in just a few seconds, just by pointing the phone at the sky!

This astronomy application has an easy to use and minimalist user interface, that makes it one of the best astronomical applications for adults and children who want to explore the night sky.

Stellarium Mobile features:

★ View an accurate night sky simulation of stars and planets for any date, time and location.

★ Dive in a collection of many stars, nebulas, galaxies, star clusters and other deep sky objects.

★ Zoom on realistic Milky Way and Deep Sky Objects images.

★ Discover how people living in other regions of the planet see the stars by selecting the shapes and illustrations of the constellations for many sky cultures.

★ Track artificial satellites, including the International Space Station.

★ Simulate landscape and atmosphere with realistic sunrise, sunset and atmosphere refraction.

★ Discover 3D rendering of the major solar system planets and their satellites.

★ Observe the sky in night mode (red) to preserve your eyes adaptation to darkness.

Stellarium Mobile contains in-app purchases allowing to upgrade to Stellarium Plus. With this upgrade, the app will display objects as faint as magnitude 22 (versus magnitude 8 in the base version) and enable advanced observing features.

Stellarium Plus features (unlocked with in-app purchase):

★ Reach the limit of knowledge by diving in a massive collection of stars, nebulas, galaxies, star clusters and other deep sky objects:
  • All known stars: Gaia DR2 catalog of over 1.69 billion stars
  • All known planets, natural satellites and comets, and many other minor solar system objects (10k asteroids)
  • Most known deep sky objects: a combined catalog of over 2 million nebulas and galaxies

★ Zoom almost without limits on high resolution images of deep sky objects or planetary surfaces.

★ Observe in the field, even without internet connection, with a "reduced" set of data: 2 million stars, 2 million Deep Sky Objects, 10k asteroids.

★ Control your telescope through Bluetooth or WIFI: drive any GOTO telescope compatible with NexStar, SynScan or LX200 protocols.

★ Prepare your observing sessions using the advanced observation tools, to predict a celestial object observability and transit times.

Stellarium Mobile - Star Map is made by the original creator of Stellarium, the well known open source planetarium and one of the best astronomy applications on Desktop PC.

Love this app! Much better than other star maps I've tried. So much detail and works so smoothly. Actually gives you a graph of how visible specific objects will be over time! Crashes sometimes but it's not a big deal. One feature I wish it had was to "flag" certain stars so they were always highlighted. (I want to see where two stars are in relation to each other and you can't really do this because once you search for the 2nd star you, can't see where your first one is

Turn the app on and the night sky immediately comes into view. There's no excess stuff: just the sky and it's celestial bodies. Click on a point of light, and its name appears, whether star, or moon, or satellite, or... The constellations appear as you move the app across the horizon. If you're in the northern hemisphere, the celestial bodies of the southern hemisphere are super-imposed on the surface of the graphic earth. The entire image is simple and beautiful.

Overall very good, although the device compass calibration never seems to be able to advance beyond 50% (I am using a Google Pixel 4a 5g). Additionally, it would be nice if the "visibility" tab gave a little information on how visible an object is at any given time, especially for the planets whose visibility varies throughout the year. It'd be immensely useful if it gave a quick estimate of where on the Bortle Scale you need to be to see an object.

I rated this app earlier and it was suggested to me to make sure there were no magnets nor metal pieces around my phone. I checked thoroughly, there weren't. I also just for the heck of it downloaded 2 other star maps. One was very basic, one very much more detailed but BOTH knew exactly where north was as well as all other heavenly bodies. Sorry Stellarium.👎

First started using the web version in an astronomy class, found it very facinating and useful as I continue to study astronomy on my own. I had a few questions regarding the accuracy of the program over the long spans of time tracked in the web version and further information of solar movements.

UPDATE: I HAVE PURCHASED THE FULLVERSION. have not tried it but is to be compatible with NextStar controllers along with network controls. Very appealing visually in normal and night modes. Just found out a couple of days ago that I can zoom in on major planets, and app automatically shows / identifies moons. That is a huge plus IMHO. When looking at Saturn I know I am seeing it's moons, but other than Titan it's hard to tell which is which. Earth satellite identification is also really neat.

Really awesome app, one of the best on the store. My only issues are the occasional impurities in the photographs of the sky (I'm assuming they're reflections of the studio, equipment, etc.) and wish they would be edited out. That, and I wish there were more 3d models of major stars and deep sky objects. If those small things were fixed, this app would be perfect.

Great app!!! Highly recommended! Beautiful displays of the constellations' graphic overlays of their classical images. I love the way you can navigate through the night sky by dragging the charts to see what will be coming up next. I do wish there was a way to turn on more of the classical image graphics grouped together, instead of just the one, two or three images visable at a time, to be able to see all of the interrelationships of the constellations to each other. Great learning tool. Thanks

I plan on buying the full app next month , that way I could see all that I'm missing, oh yeah my husband got rid of that trampoline, just like he dose with everything that makes me happy 😩is ok God keeps an eye on me.

Incredibly user friendly and it works immediately after installing and it did not require any type of calibration like other star apps I've used in the past have. I absolutely recommend this app over any other. I rate it 5 stars only because thats the highest amount it allows or id have given it more! >8^)
