Music for everyone

Spotify is an online music service that lets you play songs from a library of more than 20 million tracks, build playlists, and get recommendations from other members or from Spotify's own suggestion engine.

The free streaming option lets you listen to any artist collection or playlist—you cannot, however, play a particular song on demand. For that, you'll need to upgrade to the $9.99 per month Spotify Premium, a tier that also grants unlimited skips, commercial-free music, the new Running tool, and an offline listening mode.

The app (free, with an optional $9.99 per month Premium service) opens the door to collaborative playlists, on-demand music playback, commercial-free listening, and cool new features for runners.

Spotify features a panel-driven layout that makes it a breeze to browse the various genres, which include Rock, Decades, Urban, and Pop Culture. There are also a few others, including several videogame-themed stations (something Slacker Radio lacks).

Tapping a top-level category opens several subcategories. The Urban section, for example, has dozens of playlists such as Hip Hop Monsters, and Produced by The Neptunes/Pharrell. Swiping left lets you access playlists, your friends list, and other areas.

You can stream or cache tracks at a deliciously high 320kbps, called Extreme Mode. Regardless of the bitrate you select, you'll enjoy loud, crisp audio. Spotify also supports gapless playback and cross-fading between tracks so there aren't any abrupt pauses.

There are millions of songs on Spotify. Play your favorites, discover new tracks, and build the perfect collection. You’ll find readymade playlists to match your mood, put together by music fans and experts. Hear this week’s latest singles and albums, and check out what’s hot in the Top 50!

Sorry excuse for a music app. It's just a big cash grab, only giving you the minimum and getting you to pay for the rest. You'd think it could at least play your songs from your playlist, but do not be fooled. Once your songs have all been played through, it just gives you random songs that you never asked for. The limited number of skips is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of in my life, completely unnecessary and stupid. It's also loaded with ads. But of course, YoU cAn GeT pReMiUm!!!

  2. Ryan Apro-avatar

apk download The latest update ruined it. This used to be my favorite app, but I'm cancelling my premium membership now because of the following: *Offline mode doesn't work anymore. *Music stops every 10 minutes for no reason *I have started getting ads, despite being premium. I've cleared the cache and reinstalled, but nothing works. I'm not going to pay for a product that doesn't work anymore. I will be more than happy to resubscribe and change my review if things get fixed.

  3. Carlos Ornelas-avatar

download Great app. Lots of great music with stupendous audio quality. However, it is very confusing when trying to create a playlist or when editing a playlist. There should be a coherent way to view and edit a playlist. It feels like I am not in full control of the playlists I create. For this reason I must take away two stars from my initial review. I hope you all consider my plea. Thank you.

  4. Keith Perkins-avatar

apk I enjoy the service but it is still very clunky. What frustrates me the most is how long it will load just to look at an artist's profile, or to even load my own playlists. Also, editing playlists is a hassle. Either Spotify will randomly say "Go online to see menu" when I'm clearly connected, or even while playing a song at the same time. Also, while in edit mode there should be check boxes to remove multiple songs at once. Also, can you please be more descriptive with your updates??

  5. Rene Uhlig-avatar

I originally had Pandora, but the choice of being able to make my own playlist brought me here. I really like Spotify. I'm giving 4 stars because I can't download my music on my playlists without having Premium. Since I love listening to music and go on tripsfrequently, this is a major bummer. If everyone could download music, that would raise my ratings. Thank you.

  6. Chelsea-avatar

I've only just started to pay for Spotify premium and it's 100% worth it. You get to download your music offline and there's no advertisements. My friends & I get to save our data by not using it to play music, so it's a huge money saver. We also have a way better time playing music when we're out, as we don't have to rely on a poor internet connection. I've also discovered lots of new musician's and genres. I've recently gotten into French and German music, thanks to Spotify.

  7. Sevy Doggo-avatar

Very Ad Aggressive (Non-premium User). I feel that when it gives you the option to watch an ad for 30 minutes of ad free music and you skip it, it feels like you are punished with 4 to 6 more ads. I've had premium before and it only felt that it was only good to get rid of the ads and the addition of offline listening. To me, it's not worth it because we are in a time where we are always connected. Before I liked it, now I just feel that it's not worth the money. Student discount is the best.

  8. McPrime-avatar

It's just plain the best streaming app to exist. The newest UI update is gorgeous. I'll admit I hated it at first but that's just because the older one was around for so many years I was just used to it. Download and play offline. Crystal clear audio. There are so many podcasts I have to prioritize listening due to my little available free time. That crossfade of tracks feature is wonderful. And there's even a family plan for premium service.

  9. Kyle Merith-avatar

Putting down 3 stars. I have been using Spotify for months now and for the past weeks, I started having issue with the log in. I'm always connected to my social media on this app but recently each time I try to launch it, it will take me to logging in when I log in, it always say something is wrong, I clear the cache of the app then re-log in but still the same. So I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the app just for it to work. Please do something about this issue.

  10. Esi-avatar

Beside being the best app for music, I have problems with the app. The music stops after a while and never comes back. I searched through the google why the cause can be and it came up with the power mode causing the app to stop playing music. I'm using spotify for 3 years with the power mode on and it has been working fine. Recently it sucks that it stops no matter what. I won't waste my battery because spotify won't work. It shouldn't affect at all. Please resolve this situation!!

  11. e s s y-avatar

I loved it at first but after the update you can't play individual songs on repeat, pick what songs you want to play or even listen to them in full until it comes up on your playlist which can only be on shuffle. There is a variety of playlists, songs, and podcasts you can choose to listen to and there isn't anything wrong with the quality of sound or the layout of the app, but you can't listen to songs offline unless you pay for premium. There are also ads that play inbetween(not good for sleep)

  12. Medali Castro-avatar

My review is not related to the music service, just the app for being the worst. Sometimes it won't open. Sometimes it will randomly go offline for no reason. Other times it won't stop playing after I've hit pause. Heck, I'm adding an extra star because sometimes it will continue to play even after force stopping the app which is kinda creepy and I find it funny.

  13. Ryan Rabaca-avatar

The UI on Android is and always has been absolutely terrible. It's not intuitive. Features and options aren't available where you expect to find them. Try to unsubscribe from a podcast. Try to find your subscription settings. The options aren't where FAQs or support articles say they should be. The UI is designed to steer you toward Spotify's sponsored content and create barriers to nearly everything else. I'm only using Spotify because it's the best option among a bunch of bad ones.

  14. Antoinette Smith-avatar

    Antoinette Smith

Worked great until the most recent update. Playback stops intermittently. You have to go in and out of the app restarting just to get the screens to load. Error messages appear stating I have to go online to view certain things even though I am connected. I have been a premium subscriber for a while and this is the first time I've had any issues. Please provide an update to fix your last update.

  15. Luci Taylor-avatar

I love my Spotify! You know the saying never leave home without it? I never leave home without my Spotify. I have ALL My FAVORITE songs on it. I love how I can make a library of all my favorite types of music from the 60's & 70's, too the best of the 80's and 90's. From Country music to Christmas to Elton John and Journey. It's truly the very Best!

  16. Amin Malekpour-avatar

Don't get premium if you're on Android, it's a waste of time and money. For the past 2 months the app has been completely dysfunctional and the developers seem to have taken no action to fix it despite many people contacting customer support. There are also constant updates that have no practical use and only change the cosmetics of the app while making it even more unusable. Prior to this year I would've given the app a 5-star rating but as it stands I plan on moving to a different service.

  17. Nylodale-avatar

The music experience is, as expected of a music app, excellent, with a few minor issues here and there. The podcast experience, however, is subpar, and doesn't really encourage me to come back to them at all. Living in Mexico, I have a hard time finding English podcasts, because Spotify is configured to only recommended Spanish ones and you can't change that. Even within Spanish podcast, discoverability seems to be so bad that I never find anything I like. Switching podcast providers right now.

  18. trey lorence-avatar

I love the app and everything it does, but I keep getting forced off of it no matter what and it has been happening from September 2019 till March 2020 and nothing has changed. I have a new device, I deleted and redownloaded the app, I've taken all the normal steps, yet I still have the same problem. The app says I'm offline when I know I'm not because when I swipe off the app and come back on, it goes back to normal. I mean. Come on. I know other people have the same problem because of reviews.

  19. Rachel-avatar

I'm also a premium member who loved this service for streaming music, but just the other day (presumably after an update) I also started having the background playback issue. If my phone turns off, I might make it a minute into the song before it pauses until I turn my phone on again. This has never happened over the past several years of having the app and is an issue I hope gets fixed soon.

  20. Bradford Calendar-avatar

    Bradford Calendar

Nice enough app. Watching ads can earn a 30 min non-stop music reward from time to time. But only allowed to listen to music on shuffle unless you pay money for the privilege of listening to a particular song you want to hear. Us poor folks have to wait and hope the song plays because you can only skip songs so many times each day, and it's not often. STILL with the drawbacks it's one of the best apps out there of its kind.

  21. 2791dles-avatar

Kind of seems this app had gone the way of Instagram, in that subsequent updates have brought about more bugs than improvements. Keep it simple Spotify! 2 years ago this app was glitch free. Now, it gets stuck loading up an album to play requiring you to go back a step and try again. Also keeps telling me I'm off line when clearly I'm not. For a paid service I expect it to do the basics, play music on demand. It's barely doing that at the moment despite clearing cache and other hopeful ideas.

  22. Dee Watts-avatar

For a year or more my rating has been 5 stars period. But now there's just too many ads in another language. Nothing wrong with that but I don't speak that other language and I'am not a part of the group that does.. Very very annoying! But it's ok I guess cause I turn the sound down completely on them so they never get clicked anyway. I'm still going from 5 stars to 3 for now.. 😏

  23. cassidy adams-avatar

I personally use this all the time and it works great for me considering i use the premium version i totally dislike the regular one but it's really a great place to listen to your music One major issue ive run into recently though is that i can't listen to the music I've downloaded offline. I'll turn it to offline mode and it won't play the music I've downloaded until it goes back online. There's really no point in downloading then is there.

  24. Jonathan Weeks-avatar

That's it! I'm deleting this app and unsubscribing from Spotify. I've been using this app for over three years and I'm fed up with the songs that won't play, the search items that won't load, and the lack overall degrading stability that comes with every new update. I've been flirting with Deezer recently and I've had zero connection issues and I find the UI is more organized. I can't use this pathetic excuse for an app anymore. Spotify, I'm done.

  25. Neil Jim-avatar

I've used spotify for a long time and it's still dreadful, each update either improves something and overcomplicates things, or just breaks something. Clicking an artist isn't an option. It just gives the "try again" error. Also not to mention, why do I always have to select to start a private session? Can't it just stay on or possibly make it super more convenient to access easily?

  26. Luke Abbott-avatar

No, I'm not a bot, I genuinely recommend this app to anyone on the fence about it. It's a phenomenal app. I use it every day, and the monthly price is A LOT less than I would be spending if I bought each individual song. I have about 800 songs in my main playlist, and at $2.99CAD a song, I would have spent thousands on music. But with Spotify, I spend less than $10 a month and can add any number of songs I like to my library and download them to listen to them offline.

  27. Isabel Woodward-avatar

    Isabel Woodward

I love the music choice!! It's amazing!!! But hear me out... The adverts get super annoying... I hate it so much some times I just wanna walk up to the creates house and scold them!! They used to have a 30 minutes free of adverts if you watched one but now I have to watch like four in a row just to see more ten minutes later. On top of that they are all the same adverts. Either ones for cars ( I don't know if you would get car adverts or something else) or ones to promote Spotify premium!!! Stop

  28. Xena-avatar

Since the update, it has a huge crash bug on my Roku tv. You can't scroll through your playlist all the way through it, without getting a pop-up saying something went wrong, and having to start all over again, only have it give you the same. "Oooops.. something went wrong, please try again..", message. FIX THE BUGS!

  29. Dominique Baldwin-avatar

    Dominique Baldwin

The "lyrics" feature is rubbish. I have it set not to show me unavailable songs yet when I'm looking in an album can still see them, useless feature. There's no way to know if a song does or doesn't have lyrics, it's only seen when the song is playing. Also the little info about the song shouldn't be interrupting the actual lyrics and should be available somewhere else.

  30. Colin Beatty-avatar

Spotify used to be the app to beat for music streaming. I'm happy to pay for the full version despite some of the clunkiness of the app. But lately its been buggy and just... Not friendly. For some reason, the app will take minutes to boot up after being open a minute earlier. Or you'll randomly not be able to access your offline music because you're... Offline. My current favourite bug is whatever is stopping me from viewing an artist... I just get non stop error pages. Fix your stuff, Spotify.

  31. Edgardo Pagan-avatar

I Love Spotify and love the recommendation system and the algarithm that uses to search for songs I like. I don't give it five stars because the app itself is a MESS! The app is horrible to work with. It's sloppy, takes too long to even load even on WiFi, and it freezes frequently. I HATE IT! Even if the app is on background and you skip a few songs it freezes even on a 150 Mpbs WiFi... yeah that terrible. Other than that, the service is really good. Just hope for them to patch the app soon.

  32. Glicerio Montano-avatar

Spotify seems to have slowed down tremendously. In the past it was fast. However, it has slowed down after subscribing for a full year. I tried troubleshooting by clearing my phone's memory, uninstalling and reinstalling, checking internet connection (connection is fine and slowing is limited only to spotify, other apps are working fine) and using my spotify account on other devices to check for device specific issues. All of which did not work, and my spotify account is still slow at streaming.

  33. Dick McManus-avatar

Persistent major bugs create for a frustrating experience. I'd suggest looking for alternatives. A) Randomly pauses music. This requires a lot of troubleshooting to fix and can reappear randomly. B) Often will not connect and present an offline mode only option, even when all your other apps seem to manage the internet connection just fine. C) Using the search function will force a crash. Literally every time. Requires an uninstall and reinstall to fix, and has still reappeared.

  34. Jalexis Stephens-avatar

For some reason it will not let me view an artist to look into their music. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, signing out of the app and back in, turning my data off and back on. Maybe this is something that can be looked into. My last problems were addressed please address this problem. I have increased the star by 2. Overall great app the bugs need to be doubt with.

  35. Timothy Leigh-avatar

Spotify has changed my life more than any other app in the last two years. It has renewed my confidence in music; made it easy and simple to find music I enjoy listening to, and helped to expand my listening repetoir. it also is so simple to share muisc with friends and family. My favourite feature is the 'radio' feature which plays similar music to a track you have just chosen so easy and so great for discovery. Thank you!

  36. z shock-avatar

Pretty weird experience with Spotify overall, as much as I enjoy the app, it has one glaringly obvious issue with seemingly no resolution for a long time, the app randomly starting to play songs when I don't want it to, if I close my phone, music, open my phone, music, open an app, music, force close the app, 5 minutes later, music, as much as I enjoy music, it gets a bit tiresome having to either stop the music or close app everytime I try to do anything.

  37. Proto-One-avatar

Interface is pleasant, Suggestions are intrusive to what I'm trying to use it for. After leaving wifi it will basically refuse to stream. I check YouTube to see if that works and it does so just fine at high settings, go back to Spotify and it's "spotty" 😛. I have to force stop the app and retry, often times it works right away as if it wasn't actually a network issue or phone issue all along!? I only use it because of the podcasts that you've brought on to solely be on your services. 😑

  38. Sahil-avatar

I use this app for multiple hours a day and I think it is great for the most part. The only things that need work on are 1)song selection: multiple songs should be allowed to be selected i.e. when adding/deleting to a playlist. This is a feature of many other music apps so I'm not sure why it isn't included here. 2)auto rotate: I'm not sure why, maybe it's because of the number of playlists I have or something, but auto rotation does not work when I'm on the main current song screen. This is frustrating for me since I'm in the car for 2hrs every day and can only mount my phone horizontally.

  39. Moon Aeri-avatar

(Don't mind my rating, spotify is a great app. I just gave that rating so that the devs can notice my concern faster.) Everything about spotify is great and all but I don't understand why the app closes on its own when I play songs on offline mode. I have a premium account so that's why I think it's weird. I hope you can fix this soon.

  40. Vanessa Russell-avatar

I absolutely adore my Spotify premium. 100% worth every penny to have. I use it daily between driving to work, help sleeping at night, in the background as I clean, etc ... It's even better for bonfire season when you can let everyone throw whatever songs they want on the queue through the evening. Probably my favourite app on my phone. I love no longer needing to buy CDs to support my favourite bands.

  41. Stefan Sarmiento-avatar

    Stefan Sarmiento

Brilliant for music, free to use but the premium is definitely worth getting as it allows you to download music so you can play your favourite songs without the need for an internet connection, also syncs with Facebook so you can connect with friends and see what they are listening to. That is all optional of course, if you value privacy there's no need to merge your Spotify or Facebook accounts

  42. Alan F-avatar

I hecken love spotify but recently, I have no clue why this is happening, randomly during the podcasts I've been listing to some super random music that I've never heard of will play. I'll have a timer set to turn them off after I've fallen asleep but I'll wake up several hours later to a random synth (or other music but mostly synth) song(s) playing. I have the suggested music option switched off but it's gotten quite annoying especially since I have a timer on and it doesn't turn it off.

  43. Griff-avatar

Really doesn't like working off-line - despite having off-line mode, won't load anything I've downloaded, won't display artists /albums. And the Bluetooth is still annoying, it just butts in when you connect, doesn't matter what you're using Bluetooth for, Spotify thinks that it must stop you from doing that because obviously Spotify is more important. Wrong, I'll just disasble it again.

  44. Heaven Leigha-avatar

This is a great music listening app, although I can't see the artist's music anymore. Why can't I do so? I kept reopening spotify, then restarted my phone...nothing decided to work. So I uninstalled and installed spotify and I still can't see the artist's songs. This is ridiculous and absolutely mad! Why can't I see what the artist has?! I go to the artist because I find different music everytime and I like to get to know more of theirs. Please fix it!!

  45. Ciaran Redmond-avatar

The app is good but starting to annoy me now, I don't have premium because I don't have the money for it but I'm meant to get 30 minutes free music And I'm only getting 15 or 20 minutes before ads pop up, I'm actually annoyed with it and it's super frustrating, this has happened on multiple occasions and it has got to be fixed please.

  46. SimpIeton-avatar

Has great features, like volume unification, and music queueing, so that you don't have to stop your current shuffled playlist to play that one song. Also has moronic omissions and bugs like for example the inconsistency in landscape availability throughout the app. Can't do it in track view. When queued music starts playing, you can't use your car's music buttons that otherwise work. This is especially annoying because queued tracks can't be navigated to after they're over.

  47. Uncle Jerrry-avatar

Spoyify is great, it's my go to for music streaming, but the playlists are broken to all hell for mobile. Once you make a playlist of any number of songs, you can't PICK WHICH SONG YOU WANT TO LISTEN TO. Instead you have to tap shuffle and hope for the best, and if you land a different spng than the one you wanted to listen to, you have to skip songs, but Spotify only allows 6 skips PER HOUR. It says to 'personalize your playlists better'. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO IF I HAVE UNLIMBITED SKIPS

  48. Rachelle Lybarger-avatar

I can no longer use Spotify at all. I receive the "something went wrong" error. Online it told me to uninstall Spotify and re-install it. Well, I did that and lost all of my downloaded songs. I can literally do absolutely nothing. I have tried all the troubleshooting. It is not a network issue. It is a Spotify issue.

  49. Rob Tovey-avatar

Love Spotify but please for the love of everything holy, stop with using radio shows for music! Voices & speach over songs isn't good. I would turn the radio on for that and it's free! Group Therapy is a prime example, jingles used on the start of EVERY track has become very tedious very quickly. Spotify if there was a way to block this type of content (and them) it would be handy, as the current blocking feature doesn't allow this sadly! EDIT - Still having the intensely annoying Group Therapy

  50. A Google user-avatar

I tried this app on the recommendation of a friend. I like the app and all that it offers for the price. The HD setting (320) is excellent via the Dolby ATMOS on my Galaxy A20. Even older music pre-stereo sounds good. I tried competitor apps and so far this is the best I have ever used. The UI is confusing at first, I had a difficult time finding the settings tab. Overall this is better than any of the streaming apps out there.

  51. lilacxblood-avatar

I've been using Spotify for so long now and I love it. Then came the update. It's still great but what really bothers me is that I can't see the amount of songs that I have in my playlist anymore. This might be such a minor thing to many but it's incredibly important to me. Please put it back in. And the 'Artist' parts was so much better and more handy before. Edit: After another update it keeps restarting for no reason.

Amazing Selection of music, by far the most extensive. However this is all undone by the fact that there are experience interrupting bugs which have existend for a long period of time and are yet to be fixed. App not playing music at proper volume of device. Not able to load playlist offline. Etc. Disgusting that these issues are yet to be fixed..

It's okay. When Spotify works, it works great. Over the last year though my Spotify playlists will freeze even when they are downloaded. That's is extremely frustrating and when I contacted the help center I never got any reply. So overall it's fine but I'm looking into other music apps with better functionality and customer service

  54. Sh0k T1LT3R-avatar

Great songs, good quality but the ads are a joke. 30 mins with no ads is more like 3 mins without interruptions, all the ads are the same and there are too many of them in the ad breaks. I understand they need the money from advertising, but with this many users and even with 1 advert in 30 mins it would be fine.

  55. Alec Achen-avatar

Just get a normal music player. You need Spotify premium for this to even function decently. Without it they basically make your playlists for you then don't let you skip much if they picked horrible songs for you. Spotify premium shouldn't even exist, it should be Spotify then beneath it Spotify Lite. When they say "premium" they imply you're receiving above and beyond what a normal music player would provide when in reality all it does is make the app less annoying. Not even good. Adequate.

Tbh the app has been getting worse, the amount of ads has increased alot, it use to be only 1 ad but now it's 2-3 ads, the whole "watch this ad for 30 minutes of uninterrupted music" often it'll only be a few songs and ads start playing again, I'd buy premium through phone credit to get rid of ads if that was an option as i don't have any of the cards required to buy it, the app randomly pauses and stops the music, putting in music from artists I've never heard of into shuffle

  57. Yesenia Morales-avatar

    Yesenia Morales

I rerated spotify, mostly because with the new updates, it only recommends new artists and you cant really just play random shuffle on all the saved songs you have. It has to be through a playlist. Although i pay premium, i still have ads for albums that i dont even listen to and genres i dont listen to. However i still love the app overall. Old review: 5 stars I love it. I love the relevant playlists they give and they always have space to give you new music to listen to.

  58. Renee K-avatar

Not worth $10 a mth unless you have constant internet and then who needs it??? Glad it had a 3 mth free trial! Ads are sometimes VERY sexually explicit and are totally inappropriate to be on the air, imho, but I tend to mute them when I'm in the gym anyway. Doubt I'll keep this much longer as I can create a YouTube playlist and listen just as efficiently, lol.

Experiencing lots of issues with Spotify Premium lately. I have to uninstall and download to get the app to register my internet connection. When I make a playlist it continues to its own recommended set of music instead of my chosen songs. The song plays for 5 seconds then the sound stops. I'm a bit disappointed. Hope it will be fixed, I might move back to Apple Music.

This is the best app on Google play, but do you know what could make it even better? Light mode, that'd be the best, I have all my apps with a white background, and I think it'd be better to see the final app on my phone with a light mode. Just an idea and just putting it out there. But overall it's the best app on Google play, it'd be the cherry on the cake to see this though. :))

  61. Esper Moves-avatar

I used to give credit where credit was due, for spotify truly being the biggest and best streaming service. Software is still good. But I feel their refusal to adopt high resolution audio in any way shape or form really has me 2nd guessing my continued subscription to this service. If after exploring other platforms that do offer high-res audio like tidal and seeing whether or not they have all my favorite artists, I'll end up switching because 320kb in 2020 is pretty laughable.

  62. Ng Wilson-avatar

Most people probably dont stay long on this app's UI, but its super bad. Not intuitive at all. And it lags like crazy when im manually clicking to shift songs to other playlists ---- Update: Best part, I cant even find the way to delete 1 song from my offline download. I can only remove the entire album from download. Why would you design something like that? The fixes i found online dont work because its a new version now. Genius.

I love listening to music and the variety of songs this let's me choose from is awesome. Only flaws are the ads that act like its optional to watch an ad and get 30 minutes ad free. It's never optional and if you dont tap it you'll get an ad anyways but not get 30 add free minutes listening. That's a bummer but other than that I understand it's how you make money when people arent buying premium so thank you. (:

Don't even bother paying for premium for something that doesn't work. It's been a year of spotify having problems left and right. With all the updates they have you'd think something would get fixed. I have to wait at least 10 minutes for either a playlist or podcast just to load. And that's with me opening and closing the app several times. I've cleared my cache and uninstalled and re installed the app and yet nothing has worked. Spotify used to be great but now it's just a joke.

  65. Alex McLachlan-avatar

I recently had to downgrade my rating of this app from 3 stars to 1 star. For some reason, who ever manages spotify cannot seem to properly work out the major bugs with the app. The service this app provides is good. However, it does a terrible job at providing that service. The app is extremely glitchy, crashes often and takes forever to load songs and playlists, even if they have been downloaded. My phone does not have issues with any other app but this one. It still needs a lot of work.

  66. Ryan Kody-avatar

Spotify... Your service is amazing but your app is garbage. I am constantly having issues accessing music that I have downloaded. Why do I have to turn off my data for artists to load instantly? Why do I have to skip to the next song and then go back for a song to start to play after first launch of the app? Why do my downloaded songs randomly appear to not be downloaded? Please fix your issues!

I have been using Spotify for my business and personal use for 3 years and it was great until I got my Samsung S9 two months ago. Since then the app won't load music, the different Playlist don't show the songs or titles. Most of the time the app just shows the loading circle forever. This happens both of my phone is using data or wi-fi. I'm going to have to find a new music service soon if this doesn't get fixed soon. It's too bad too, Spotify used to be the best around. Please fix this issue.

This app is really good but I hate the insane amount of ads every 4-5 songs, also I've been having problems with searching up artists and everytime I do it just ends up saying something went wrong. I turn the app off turn it back on and it still says it I even searched it up a couple days later but nothing works, this app isn't so great anymore.

Every time I get into my car it starts playing over my car radio. I have turned off auto connect but still does it. Not worth the trouble. There seems to be no way to stop it.and pretty sure reason why is that everytime it connects it shows as someone using the app and then that info is used to show perspective ad customers false numbers of customer usage.

Something went wrong... Have another go? For such a well known app that isn't exactly cheap, I'm surprised just how often what you'd think is a fairly straight forward system goes wrong. No doubt this has revolutionised the way many people listen to music, it's a great idea. But error messages are just so frequent. I currently can't even search for artists, the app just won't do it. I thought it might just be my phone, but my friends who all have different phones have similar issues...

So far its still the best music app for me, despite the adds. If youre just a simple person who doesnt mind the adds playing once in a while then youre good to go, its really a bonus if you'd subscribe to premium, you'll appriciate it more if youre on mobile, and if you like to travel a loy. but if youre a desktop person then, you can skip and choose songs you like. Keep rocking Spotify <3

  72. Mango Graham-avatar

What's wrong with this app? i used to played this day morning and it plays so well but this night? somethin went wrong and it happens to all of my playlist. When i play one of my track it plays different song..i dont even understand why it happens all this night. I hope you do something to make the user be comfortable again in using. Too bad for this app. Feels like horrible and dissapointed. I gave you 2 stars right now.

  73. Dominic Bates-avatar

Big fan of Spotify. Although the app could use some improvements specifically when searching though songs/playlists. Can you let us sort songs alphabetically like on desktop? Also when I am trying to add a song to a playlist, the ordering is completely random, so it's impossible to find the playlist I'm looking for (i.e. It's not alphabetical, and it's not ordered by most recently used?!)

  74. Tom Witzman-avatar

Things i dont like about app: You need inernet. Adds. And it gives me an ad to watch for 30 min of no interupted listening, well can go like 2-5 min untill it shows me that again. One time it made me watch 2 ads. Might not have all songs. It says i can watch shows, so i type in a show i want to have. Songs. Just songs. It rarly shows lyrics. Ect. Things i do like about app: free. Tons of songs. Shows behind the lyrics. Mabey ect. Even amozon music you have to pay for is better. Its ok...

  75. jaideep dadi-avatar

Good music app. Nice UI, but the thing is, the ads are far too long, like 30 seconds or so and having to go through a long ad just when you're favorite song is about to come up, makes you want to close the app and listen to the song in some other app. If it doesn't bother you like me, you'll really love it!

  76. Marc Earnshaw-avatar

It does exactly what I expect from a music streaming service but with a few nice to have included. The only real drawback is the slightly limited catalog and the Flow feature (both in comparison with Deezer). Having said that, I moved to Spotify from Deezer and haven't really looked back. Thanks for helping to maintain my sanity 😁

  77. Eric Cantin-avatar

I would give this app zero stars if possible. Constantly crashes, switches my podcasts while I'm listening to random music that I've never heard of and never want to hear again. Ads and getting people to purchase their premium versions are spotify's only focus. This app was my main way to consume podcasts, but after 3 weeks of this low level of simply not being able to play a podcast for 5 minutes straight, I'm deleting this app and finding another.

  78. SHADOW xGAMING-avatar

I would go for a 5 star but the one thing I don't like about this app is that they add songs to playlists that you don't want. If I didn't want the songs to be there, then they shouldn't be there. If I remove them, they still add songs that aren't even there. It's honestly kind of annoying. I try skipping the songs and it says "Instead of using your skips, edit the playlist to songs you like." But if I tried doing this, it wouldn't let me. It adds songs I don't want. Please stop doing this.

The "your library" playlist is completely messed up after the update. It was perfect before. Now I can't figure out how to pick a song I want to listen to from my playlist. And when I listen to the songs, they stop playing after I let the phone go to sleep. And what's up with the ads now? It keeps playing songs that I don't want to listen to and I can't skip them. SPOTIFY IS JUST TRYING TO MAKE MONEY FROM THE ADS NOW

  80. Filip Kalas-avatar

The app is super illogical: 1) why havent you still brought the back the bar to look up a song in a playlist?! Makes no sense to have to look for this option. 2) what is the logic behind the ordering of your personal playlists? It is shuffled according to your use and history, which makes it impossible to know every time where every playlist is placed 3) when viewing someone else's playlists, all playlists are shown, including the folder names, without offerin any differentiation between the two

  81. Aaron S.-avatar

I migrated recently, solely to follow some podcasts that (sadly) went exclusive to Spotify, and over the past weeks I've been continously let down. Compared to all other apps I've used, Spotify comes in dead last, except unfortunately in certain content. The app can't trim silence, can't alter playback speed, can't alter drawer app controls, crashes, adding to a queue is a premium paid feature, "suggested" songs play automatically regardless of data settings. I'd go on, but the word limit.

  82. Jeran W-avatar

Chromebook App is frustrating to use when looking at playlists or artists. The top picture or background takes up half the screen and I scroll through songs on the smallest imaginable portion of the screen. Everything else works great, however, that is not great. Or I can't figure out how to change it (always a viable option)

  83. Pranav Bhasin-avatar

I subscribed to Spotify because of recommendations and access to multiple playlist. Apart from that the UI has been pathetic especially for the last 2 months. The app takes so much time to even load downloaded songs and I don't understand why the app needs a strong Internet connection even for downloaded songs. The graph is just going down by the day.

  84. Brian Collura-avatar

The Chromecast feature is buggy as all get out. It frequently forgets it's connected and plays my next selection locally; the volume control is jumpy and sometimes leaps to maximum; it can only be accessed on the "playing" screen, but you can only get to that screen after pressing play - therefore you have to press play, press pause quickly, press Chromecast, and then listen from 0:02 onward 🤦‍♂️

looking for an alternative to Apple Music because it's not a great app. used spotify years ago and it was alright. try it again today, sign up for an account, a month trial, add a bunch of artists, start clicking on the artists to add their music, won't load the artist page. so I delete the app, reinstall, try again, literally the same problem nothing is solved. I get that there's a global pandemic, but that doesn't mean you can just plop garbage down in front of people. 0/10

  86. David C-avatar

Coming from Napster but finding Spotify lacking. The ui is horrible, doesn't categorize by artist you have in your library. You should be able to pull up an artist in your library and have all the albums/songs under that. Not terribly impressed yet, unfortunately the rest of my family is on Spotify so I'm kinda being forced. But I may just stick with Napster. Spotify, check out Napsters ui and learn some things.

Spotify Has been a great asset until recently. For some reason when I play a song or a station. especially when I'm at the gym the song only plays when the phone Screen is on . Once I close The display screen after 10 sec the music stops . Hopefully There is a update to Correct this problem. It's very irritating and is forcing me to use other music apps instead

Serves it purpose and has a good library of songs. It lacks some features that I really enjoy on other music players, but is good overall. Edit: Changed from 4 to 2 stars because the app crashes every time I try to open up a library of podcasts. It doesn't do with other playlists or libraries, just podcasts, and it doesn't seem tied to any particular show or network. Used to only happen once in a while but it is now all the time and I'm unable to listen to podcasts on here.

My app goes offline unexpectedly. I can't search for music. I can only listen to my downloaded music. I have to uninstall and reinstall. This happened after my last update. Knocked this down to 3 stars. Was 5. Especially after I already contacted someone, and they supposedly fixed it. Not impressed right now.🤬 I pay money for this service would be nice to have it running smoothly again

Update* I have Spotify Free and everytime I get "30 minutes of ad free music" my music stops and I have to close the app and restart it. Then they shove ads down my throat. Very disappointed with Spotify. Upgraded to Premium when they had their "Free 3 Months" promo and was charged the first month. False advertising! Might just take you to court for it.

  91. Daniel Horton-avatar

Ever since the new UI, I've had so much trouble navigating through music, that's it's barely worth it. Could you give us the option to use the old UI please? I have over 800 songs saved, but only about 200 of them show up in my albums section. The only way to see my liked songs is through the playlist, listing the songs in chronological order and forcing me to basically only listening to my oldest music, unless I brave scrolling through for 3 hours to get to the bottom of 800 artless song names.

Me and my friends share a playlist on spotify and modify it all together! Our friends and we listen to it very often! The problem is we can't work all three on it and lock the operator mode just for us 3. We only can choose if its a public playlist or not. When the playlist is free for all the problem is that random people put songs in it. There should be a mode where it can be a public playlist which is supportet by us!! Just like a group chats on wa where only admins can write an rhe rest read

  93. Hannah Rayner-avatar

Its usually great but for some reason the app has been spontaneously switching to songs not on my playlist and putting them on repeat?? ( specifically pretty heart breaker by ginvade- but there was another one before this song). I'm on a premium family account if that's relevant . I have to keep switching back which is annoying and it's probably messing up the algorithms.

  94. Ariana Vargas-avatar

Before updates I get this "you discovered a premium feature" in offline mode even though I am paying for premium (message in some albums). Then I go online update and the album is not available after update... why? I read the update fixed but where can we get information about the not available albums after each update? This is the second time it happened. 🙄🙄🙄

Spotify, please fix your app, there are way to many ads at once now, we don't want to hear 3 mins straight of ads, next stop making us go into the app to receive 30 mins of ad free music not only is it annoying but sometimes we are working and we can't click that if we can't reach our phones in time and we shouldn't be punished for it with a massive amounts of ads and there have even been several occasions where I do click it but don't get the 30 mins and NO ONE wants to save ads, please fix this

  96. Julie Jordine-avatar

As of the last update, I can not get my music to play for more than a couple of songs or less before it stops. It doesn't just stop playing, but it disappears from my lock screen, forcing me to unlock my phone to push play again and again. I pay for premium, so if they don't fix this issue soon, I'm going to have to cancel my subscription and find a different app to listen to my music. Please, PLEASE fix this soon

  97. Adrian Mitchem-avatar

I think they updated if they did I can't even listen to my playlist it will play a song on my playlist then I might go on another app then once that song is over it will play a whole different song(off my playlist)and I can't even just click on a song. I liked it the way is was!! In a couple of days if it does go back I'm deleting this app!!!

Awesome. The fact that it can run while I do other things on line at the same time is great. This way my life is in happy mode whole working on line. I am a new customer and I suffer from life's experiences but need music to save me from deep migranes from thinking too hard. I have lived my life listening to music and doing chores all day uplifts me and lightens my load off my shoulders. A tremendous therapy for me to be able to saved upbeat songs to quicken my pace at work is awesome. Thank you

I love the app so much! I just kinda wish they had boy versions of songs, like "I Kissed Girl" from Katy Perry, and such as "Candy Store" From Heathers. Not only that, but I do wish other songs could be added like: Blackbear, "Fashion Week" (but it's a different remix) and the original one too. Oh yeah and I do have a problem with one of my favorite songs, "Strip That Down For Me" From Liam Pain. For some reason, It's a different version and It's from "Grant Richards"? Hope you can fix this, Ty!

I'm eating specifically for the moble app, not spotify in its entirety. I've been using spotify ever since I was in HS (over 5 years ago) and the quality of the app is horrendous on so many levels. The structure and how everything is set up is good, but nothing ever loads. It doesn't matter if your phone is connected to the internet, data or saved on your phone. Typically, the screen will take at least 5 minutes to load and sometimes play a single song. Dont bother with the headache.
