Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

allow Wi-Fi Multicast reception
Allows the app to receive packets sent to all devices on a Wi-Fi network using multicast addresses, not just your phone. It uses more power than the non-multicast mode.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.

prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

receive data from Internet
Allows apps to accept cloud to device messages sent by the app's service. Using this service will incur data usage. Malicious apps could cause excess data usage.

After you updated to the newest layout, the performance and everything about it has turned to the negative. 1) Screensaver doesn't start anymore within the app, so if I forget to turn the my OLED screen off, which I accidentally did when leaving Spotify on, my screen now has burnt in arrow keys and pause button on the screen. Please fix this or make it an option. 2) No equalizer 3) No easy way to sort playlist, always starts with the oldest songs on the playlist 4) Sometimes the app hangs up, so it shuffles through all the album covers before you can once again change song. 5) Possibility to play songs in the background while looking at videos (realize this may be from restrictions within the Android TV software)

spotify music and podcasts for tv Latest version broke functionality on Nvidia Shield, Have uninstalled Spotifiy and re-installed (version 1.30) but still doesn't work. Have deleted cache and data and still doesn't work. Sometimes it will load the album or playlist and show the cover-art, and even start counting time, but no audio plays. Other times when selecting an album, it loads the one next to it. Supper buggy.

It is great well when it works, because I've got 5.1 system hooked up to my Sony Bravia X900e. But it frustratingly does not work often enough. I can deal with the odd crash but on almost daily basis I have to force close the app or restart the TV because there's either A) No sound while the song appears to be playing or B) I go to play any song and it's just stuck on pause at 0:00 no matter what I do. The app for android phone, as well the Windows and Mac desktop apps I constantly use. The quality of this app much worse and I don't understand

Spotify autoplay is set as default enabled within Google Home displays and speakers. There is no way of turning that off and it's really frustrating. Play Twinkle Twinkle little Star to help your kid fall asleep and then you're kid can be jolted awake by whatever rock song was up next in the queue. Love spotify premium but this needs to be figured out...

The biggest issue (and the reason for the 3 stars) is that artists and albums in the library aren't sorted alphabetically, which makes the library pretty useless. You'll likely just need to search any time you want to find something if you have more than 20 or so artists in your library. Also, this, like every other Android TV music app, is a dumbed-down version of the Android app, so don't get your hopes too high. That being said, this one is better than most of the rest (Tidal, Google Play Music, Youtube Music, etc). The "connect" feature is terrific, and something other services could learn from. Now if Spotify will only get on board with lossless audio. 2017 NVIDIA Shield TV

Have dropped to one star, as Android TV app is terrible and they seem to do nothing to correct it. Lock ups ruin it and make it unusable. Like the app when it works. Don't know if it is a recent update, or what, but it locks up on every use and will not respond to any commands. Clearing the cache didn't work, nor did uninstalling and re-installing the app. Hope they can fix this, as it didn't happen in the beginning. TV is Sony XBR-X930C.

The app is great but the performance is very poor. It hangs the TV so bad I usually need to remove the power cable in order to restart it. The more songs you play, the worse the performance gets. While you are in the app you can barely notice it, but once you try to start another app, the TV dies. Other than this it's very cool to be able to play music on TV.

Terible experience on Sony Bravia Android TV. I'm running with Android 7.0 on Bravia 4K 2015. The latest versions of the app are terrible. Once a song/playlist is played, the app crashes in about 20 minutes - the screen goes flickering, no control over the app for stopping, pausing or chaning song or volume. It is ok as far as the TV screen is turned off and you listen for a whole playlist straight. The solution is restart of the TV. So if you are listening to music and you are in hurry going out and the app is crashed, you have to take 5 or more minutes trying to stop the music, closing the app and switching off the TV. The TV is my main source for listening and the reason i've switched to premium. Thinking about canceling the premium and going to other platform.

After using 1.17.0 for a week on my Sony Bravia it actually seems to be behaving itself on my playlists. For some reason Top 50 UK hits glitched and stopped but so far my regular music is playing fine, continuously, ads work and don't break. Looking good again Spotify. 👍 I cant fault your Twitter Support team really taking the time to troubleshoot and feed back comments.

Nvidia shield - Works well but missing features. It will work as standalone allowing you to browse playlists etc however a choice for a more advanced view would be great similar to the desktop app with a slide out sidebar consistent with netflix, youtube UI. If only playing an album, there is no option to continue play after finished unless you choose repeat. No option for playlist radio. A few minor things, but I do miss them and have to perform via spotify connect.

The app doesn't handle correctly large playlist in random mode (always play the same first 100 tracks even if the playlist contains thousands of songs). The genius feature is totally absent (to have this feature on Android TV, the most simple is to uninstall this App and stream spotify via chromecast from a mobile). Additionaly, there's no way to voice search.

Subpar, compared to Spotify on Phone, Tablet or PC. Pro: -Can be used as a device from other devices even when TV is in standby mode -Widget, Play/Pause on remote work as expected Cons: - Unless used as a device to play to, app is extremely rudimental - There are no meaningful settings - Music discovery and choice is painfully clumsy, lacking a major part of the functionality of the other apps.

The app is a little barebones compared to the phone/tablet app, but it's mostly functional. My biggest issue is that, on my Nvidia Shield Gen 2, it randomly pauses for no apparent reason. Also, no radio stations or equalizer? Needs improvement, but it's still the best streaming app out there.

Very Basic app! Needs a lot of work. Browsing is clumsy. The playlist cannot be sorted by 'last added'. Doesn't have the repeat 1 option. Cannot access the Equilizer settings. Doesn't remember my last song/playlist. Search results are hard to navigate. Mobile app is Fantastic. I wish they put some effort into the TV app too.

Average. Would be nice if it could remember I logged in (either manually or via Spotify Connect), because now I still have to undertake an action to start listening to music every time I boot up my TV. Also, since my TV is connected to a hifi sound system, settings for audio quality etc. are missing!

I'll start by saying I'm a premium subscriber and I have this installed on the Sony Bravia XD93 connected to a Denon AVR-X4300H. If you've got lots of playlist folders you've created for your playlists, forget it - you can't see them in the app at all. You can see playlists only and not the folders, which in turn makes the Your Music tab look like a random mess. If you like to configure the bitrate for maximum sound quality, or mess around with the gapless play settings, forget it - there are no settings for anything at all, you can log off or on only. It plays at the default bitrate not the highest quality bitrate. I'm constantly changing the volume for different songs as there's no way to normalise audio. The voice search is welcome but it searches Spotify's entire db without suggesting songs from *your* playlists. Very annoying when you want to search your own music only. The app UI looks pretty but feels a country mile away from premium because it lacks the same basic settings found on the Desktop & Android Mobile versions. More often i cast from my phone via Spotify Connect directly to my Denon, bypassing the AndroidTV app altogether for a better experience.

Finally Spotify on Android TV, been waiting for a long time! :) The app is decent, however it could be a lot better. It's quite buggy and plays the same songs over and over sometimes when in a playlist, and the fact that you can't reach the ordinary toplists(top 50) is really wierd. The app doesn't really seem to be made for the TV, UX-wise. I'm using a Sony Bravia KD-55X8505C. Hopefully the app will see a revamp and enhance the experience of Spotify on TV.

Nvidia Shield - App seems to work okay and UI workable. However as a premium subscriber the Android TV ap is missing the option to select your desired audio quality. From what I can tell it is just using the default bitrate, which sounds absolutely terrible on my good audio system.

It's been a long time in the works, but it is not a fleshed out app. But this is common for Android TV right now. I'm not sure it will ever get better, or we'll ever get another update, but it can work. But sometimes Spotify Connect will just drop connection to it, like it does with Chromecast Audio. You can't seem to control the app on Android TV from your phone as easily as through desktop clients. If you are on the home screen and hold the play/pause button on the tile it will skip a whole bunch of songs. Seems to be some sort of skip track button but not sure. Please update with bug fixes.

No obvious way to browse content as you would with the Windows APP or on regular Android mobile devices. Settings? Where? How do I know what quality setting is active? It works. The navigation isn't all that intuitive, but it does the job. Here and there missing some animations, like when switching to the next song on an album. What's bugging me the most is the inability to play a playlist consisting of songs that are local on my PC.
