Speccy πŸ“Š is an 'Audio Spectrum Analysis' tool, which visualizes the spread of sound frequencies in the audible (and inaudible) spectrum, detected through your device's microphone, using
signal processing. It supports the most languages of any similar app (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, German, Italian, Russian, French and Thai) and is the
which also lets you export audio snapshot data to the clipboard (for plotting in Excel, etc).
β€’ Assessing environmental noise for health and safety
β€’ Sound checking venues PA systems and in-car stereos
β€’ Identifying audio signals obscured to the human ear by noise
β€’ Testing the microphone on your device
β€’ Comparing the quality of different brands of headphones
β€’ Testing signal generators
β€’ Tuning musical instruments
β€’ Measuring audio signals just outside human perception. As people age over 20 years, their aural perception range drops well below 21 kHz
Speccy πŸ“Š has been used successfully to find gas leaks, test ultrasonic pest control equipment and has even used by EVP enthusiasts to try and detect ghosts! You can learn more about
.
Speccy πŸ“Š also provides the most
 of any app:
β€’ Hann/Hanning
β€’ Hamming
β€’ Sine/Cosine
β€’ Rectangular
β€’ Triangular
β€’ Welch
β€’ Blackman
β€’ Blackman-Harris
β€’ Blackman-Nuttal
β€’ Bartlett
β€’ Flat Top (Matlab coeffs)
β€’ Poisson T = N/2
β€’ Poisson T = (N/2) / (60/8.69)
Speccy πŸ“Š could also help you get into a safe with a mechanical combination lock for which you have forgotten the code: With your device acoustically coupled to the safe's dial, turn the dial slowly; you can 'hear' when a tumbler drops in, because the spectrum of the sound will be very slightly different than turning one 'normal' tick (depending on the build quality of the lock). Using this technique you can detect when you hit a correct number and start dialing the other way.

Reviews From google play store

Couple of small issues but surprisingly accurate. At high resolution, the Max power cursor doesn't seem to track the peak, close but not quite. Using the menu icons also moves the cursor, and it's difficult to set the cursor at a specific frequency. No instructions.

Appreciate the efforts that has gone into the making of this feature rich app. The two finger swipe option for zooming the frequency scale is quite useful. Would like to suggest a couple of additional feature that may be added: If it is possible to add more number of marker lines by the user for the frequency scale, people like me can use this app for extracting notes from the bass line of music. Also, if possible, displaying the musical notes on the peaks itself will be extremely useful.

This developer clearly does not know what he's doing. 0 to 1k should occupy more than half of the screen since that's where the majority of frequencies that are the most important to any sound engineer reside. These are the frequencies of human voices and most musical instruments. Most frequencies above that are overtones. Should have basic knowledge of the topic before creating an app. Or just see what other similar apps do.

I suffer from migraine headaches and downloaded this app to investigate the sounds around me that are annoying. And there is a ringing that is especially unnerving but I don't know from where it comes. First glance the app is a bit daunting but may become my best friend and save what remains of my sanity.

I have no idea what I am doing. Yet. But it's really interesting. Got a link where I can learn the basics? Quality app. Very responsive and more info than I know what to do with atm. Nice layout alsoπŸ‘ EDIT: I am messing with it right now to try and emulate a sonar app I had for an OLD iPhone. I used to use it to find the stairs in the dark...figured maybe if I figured out how to get an alternative app that I can tweak a bit, just maybe, I could get at least a crappy image of my room in the dark. just an idea. would just need to be enough to tell how far away furniture and doors are. Been bugging me I can't find a replacement app....it almost seems like they are prohibited.

I like this a lot, not too keen on the waterfall so I hid it. The analyser is pretty much spot on, this will help anyone who needs to add EQ to live instruments. I would like the ability to filter out frequencies, but I can live without it.

The sensitivity is remarkable! It will pick up a mouse fart and register it in real time. I'm no sound expert, but I am paranoid, and this app will help me detect any unwanted snooping in hotel rooms, strange places in general, and any movement when I'm in my bedroom sleepingπŸ‘

I'm using it for know how annoying I'm when I sing on my work place, don't know why they complain. Love it, simple, useful, light.

I bought this app just to say Mr.Coop is a A$$wipe. Also I tried the app out and its awesome. I got a bunch of these apps for tuning a dsp in and this works great.

This app can produce detailed audio spectrum analysis around you. Great acoustic response. Detailed settings.
