Reviews From google play store

Seems like they've removed a lot of features like the top 40 songs by country / world etc.. I used to use it as a radio on trips. Also, there is a connect to spotify ad that always shows even tho I'm already connected to Spotify. The song detection is quite poor recently and slow. Shazam is much better at this. App has gone way down hill in my opinion, and I've pretty much switched to Shazam at this point... free Shazam is now better than the Soundhound app I paid for :(

was pretty excited when I got it and paired it with spotify. I wanted to be able to play a playlist in spotify and it show up in soundhound concurrently. you have to go in and play the song in spotify, open the sound hound app, and hit the button to recognize the music and then you get to see lyrics. not what I was looking for.

Please remove the obnoxious new lyrics panel or at least make it optional! The old lyrics display was fine, there was no need to push those terrible lyrics panel right into our face each and every time a song is identified. And to make matters worse, the screen stays ON while the lyrics are displayed, draining the battery. Worst update in a long time 🤬

For the past three iterations the app is a huge battery drain on an Galaxy S10 even though I don't actually use it and it's always asleep. Otherwise the app is a bit bloated anyway with voice commands and too much social stuff which should all be optional.

Had an old version from Amazon. Had used this app for years and it did a great job for me. Unfortunately, it was no longer supported through Amazon and pretty much unusable. Customer service quickky jumped in to help. Keep up the great work. Thank you!

Very poor at identifying songs. And when it finds them and I click to "open in spotify" it tries to search for nonsense html and won't find the song. I used to love this app. Not sure what happened but it's not very useful anymore.

Excellent app. It works mostly. Sometimes it doesn't recognize songs. It would be nice to allow to copy the lyrics and translate the lyrics from and to other languages.

It was a good app but more recently it has been crashing for me when playing a song inside the app. Please fix it! I love the world map discovery tool!

Drains battery (running background), but why? When I press the button the widget is not working, but the app listens in the background? And song recognition is poor now... What happened to this app?

This app used to be awesome. Unfortunately, now, for whatever reason, it doesn't recognize songs anymore. Please fix and I'll revise my rating.

Update since 11th sep has broke the app. Won't work keeps closing and reopening saying there was an error.. Used to be the best

Absolutely hate the new interface...can't link anything to Spotify...have to leave Soundhound and manually search for the song in Spotify....hate hate hate this version

Premium version is worth it... even though it is unclear if it is a one off payment or monthly subscription..

6 Stars. I had a little glitch after upgrading to Android10. Best customer service ever. They jumped on it and gave me accurate advice.

The SoundHound ID Now widget keeps disappearing from my phone every time I reboot it. Please fix so the widget stays on.

Features have been removed. Used to give artist bios, album tracklist, photos, etc. Now it only shows lyrics. This is not the app that I paid for.

Does not work as widget anymore. Has less songs to buy than shazam. Lags a lot. Hate you

Sound detection needs serious work. Some really quirky detection

How can a simple music id app be 34mb? Unless filled with bloat!

Can you please add more options to open the searched song. Eg Google or YouTube music

First of all good app, but please give it multi window functionality.

It was the best app for music recognition, better than Shazam. I don't know who ruined it, but definitely did it on purpose. Shame that I spent my money on it, now is completely useless.

They disabled landscape mode... Why, think about it. How do you read, how do singers sing, how do you look at song lyrics? One line of lyrics at a time. So why would I want to be forced to hold my phone so that the line is broken? Why do the devs need to break the app to add tighter integration with $potify? Maybe nice feature to whistle for a song but I'm not paying for another premium subscription to find out.

My Music Map no longer works properly. First time it recognises the song it now shows Discovered in: null, GB. No actual place. After I exit then go back into the song, My Music Map disappears altogether. This was working fine before. Please fix as this feature has become useless now. It used to be good to know where all the tunes were discovered but that all seems to be gone now. Leaves me disappointed as the earlier version just worked and looked great. This new version sucks in comparison.

this app is really starting to suck. I paid for this app and it still doesn't identify a lot of songs. I've been trying to identify this song that's been coming on the radio pretty frequently and it still won't identify it. starting to dislike it.

Infuriating app that basically is just a tease. You can't just play playlists and have the lyrics displayed. This app requires a damn babysitter. Every song requires 10 clicks. Some trolls made this app which could be great but is in the end is just too much handholding.

Bring back landscape side turn ability and I'll give you your five stars back. I've been a strong supporter of you. Especially over Shazam. That one change makes me want to bail. Please fix or you'll lose more than me

This app was great. In 2012 when Google doesn't kick its ass in recognition. I paid a dollar and I wish I had it back. This app is less convenient to use compared to just pulling out the Google assistant.

Always runs in the background, drains battery and crashes constantly, interrupting phone usage. Was good till last year. RIP SoundHound.

not working like it used to and the widget seems to be malfunction now. paid for this app almost 10 years ago and it's never failed until the last month or so.

Connects directly only to Spotify. No support for GPM, YouTube Music or Amazon Music. You have to go through those apps' stores first even if you have their music players. Music recognition is still great.

Crashes on my Pixel 3 several times a day. This has been a problem on and off since January. Been hoping with every update that it would finally get fixed, but it never does

I buy songs through Amazon. something's changed and i can't buy songs anymore. if it's an error, glad to change my rating, but this is a potential deal breaker for my purchased app.

widget doesn't work anymore, main reason why I bought this.. might as well use shazam... sing recognition isn't what it use to be

5 stars for the quality music recognition. Still the best in my opinion, especially for remixes and covers.

widget isn't working on my S9+ since pie!!! I've had this on all my phone's since Android first came, never had an issue till now

Love the 50s music but not having any luck with any searches, always saying that it doesn't recognise any tune

How to enable SoundHound as Assist & voice input to quickly open it with double tap or long tap on home/power button?

My experience has proven this to be more accurate than other music identifiers, plus I love how it follows along with the lyrics

Been getting high battery usage when not in use, my S9+ keeps telling me to put the app to sleep. I'm trying an uninstall and reinstall, I'll report back.

I paid for a free program and no thank you... and some songs are not recognizable, but rivals identify easily.

Widget stopped working (running Android 9, One UI on Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus)

Spotify through here doesnt work. taking away landscape mode wonder why im sticking with it as well

Is it me or does this app only recognize songs Half the time now?

Wished lyrics worked more constantly

A great App, but the recent update eliminated landscape view. What a major disappointment.

What's the actual difference between this and free version

Bug fixes and improvements

why doesnt work properly keeps crashing

can not connect to soundhound plz fix

It works great, but like a bad guest, it doesn't know when it's time to go away. You can get rid of it by running Device Maintenance, but it's a pain a user shouldn't have to endure.

Love the app! Really handy when your on the go and just cant think of the name of the song you had heard, are listening to or want to listen to! Good stuff!

Why do you force people to keep pressing buttons in nested menus? People want to identify music QUICKLY and SAFELY.

I've had this for several years, I got it back when google did the celebration sale. It was a much better app before. Now the app takes much longer to load (often missing the song entirely), and it doesn't even appear in the apps last used section to recall it quickly forcing a restart every time you leave it. I've noticed that it fails to notice songs far more often than it used to as well. I have Shazam pro too and I may have to switch to that as my default music search.

Freezes and crashes alot. It often takes longer to load up than the song lasts. I had an older version which came with a tablet I own, and that worked great. This version is so slow starting up that the song frequently ends before it begins to work. I went back to using another app which has an annoying amount of ads, just because it works quicker. For $5.99 I expect the app to work without issues.

The ID Now widget does not work properly. It's meant to identify immediately, which it does in testing, but when I use it for real, so many times it doesn't. By the time I see the stupid thing needs to be told to ID, the snippet of music has passed. So fustrating. Whats the point of the widget then?

Advertisements in a paid app, shame on you guys. Take a look at the FREE Shazam app, works faster and has a clean interface (no ads in your face on the main app screen) and best of all it's FREE. Sorry I wasted the money on SoundHound infinity. I wrote in and complained, the next day the ads were gone, the day after they came back. BOOOOOO

Although it doesn't seem to be quite as "sensitive" as a well known rival (especially when limited background noise is present), it has had an extremely high success rate with identifying a very large proportion of mainstream music as well as (nicely surprising!) a lot of the lesser known indie music, each time that I've used it. Really simple to use and nicely presented.

Tried to avoid the MANDATORY login with Spotify but kept getting error messages. Finally gave in and created a Spotify account and it refuses to sync properly with SoundHound... resulting in my SoundHound account logging me out because it can't sync my searches properly. This is beyond dumb! Why is required to sign up for Spotify?!?!?!?!

Core function is great, but it has gotten bloated and annoying. Here's my most recent use: 1. Wonder what this song is? 2. Get out phone, start SoundHound Infinite 3. Get full screen pop-up trying to get me to link SoundHound to Snapchat of all things. 4. Finally find X in corner of ad to dismiss. 5. Try to ID song 6. Listen to "match": wrong song. No worries, I'll ID again. 7. Can't get the "match" to stop playing - it shrinks instead, making new IDs impossible. 8. Original song stops playing.

I love this app so much that I bought the full version.

Used to be the best of the bunch, upgraded to "infinite" years ago. Now, though, I get repeated log in errors, strange Spotify demands (I don't want to use Spotify) and the Google Play Music integration is scatter shot... Sometimes there is a GPM button, sometimes there is not.

SoundHound used to work on pretty much every phone I used it on. New updates have become laggy, buggy and horrible, and now I'm asked to sign up with no option to use my Google account to do so. A real shame, as this was one of my favourite apps in the past.

By far this is the ONLY music app helperTO USE! very UI friendly, hands free for driving comforts, CAN and DOES ANYTHING you need with little user effort... Also, keeps a record ALL searches, allowing you to leave them as a discovery or favorites... if possible I would DEFINITELY GIVE IT A 10+ RATING!!! Great job Soundhound Inc. Keep it going!!!!!! A Music Lover ❣

This is the best sound recognizing app, much better than the other famous one. I bought the pro version just to support the developers, the free version is also good. Integration with spotify is also good. I recommend it to all!

I paid for premium and stuck with Soundhound to be able to add songs to a Spotify playlist automatically. The widget doesn't do that, and now we can't even do it manually by clicking on the search results. Shazam seems to work better.

I've had sound hound for a long time and on many different devices and it's never let me down in any way. I've discovered a lot of great music with this app. I've tried others similar to it and none compare. I highly recommend it.

Sucks sucks paid for the upgrade every other time I turn it on it completely crashes and why can't you leave the app with the music shutting off it's stupid waste of money I want a refund I bought the upgraded version cuz I enjoyed and really liked the regular version that was awhile ago though now it just sucks refund I want refund

Very poor with electronic and foreign music Soundhound probably works OK for pop music. But who cares? Who needs help finding that? When it comes to electronic/edm/foreign music, Soundhound is basically useless. Multiple times now has Google Play Music identified Japanese edm songs that Soundhound fails at. Uninstalling, because this app is useless.

Lyrics do not sync (time delay) with actual song. Lyrics do not change font to help listener follow.

this is an extremely expensive app. I have been using it for quite a while off and on and the Recognition rates are terrible I do regret buying this app because Shazam does better for free. I feel like I got ripped off with the high price set so I do not recommend you buy this app

Fast ID time but gets it wrong often when it displays results that quickly. Frequently shows results for the previous search. Works best when sampling from the middle of a song. Hopefully the latest update will fix

I used sound hound when it first came out and it was great, but after a while the app doesn't find the correct music. Very disappointed after spending money on it.

Flagged for using mic in background. Android notified me. Uninstalled immediately. I have been using soundhound for years with no problems. This is a rather worrying development.

Could be great. Main reason I installed was to check the year a song was released. Instead of the original date, SoundHound often returns the "latest" releases (i.e., Greatest Hits). Original release date please!

Paid for the app, now i wait for the ads to disappear off my screen so i can ID songs. I'm pretty sure that defeats the whole point of a paid app. Please stop the ads for those of us who paid you for the app. Thanks!

Looked up this app on and it turns out to be sending a ton of data to a ton of servers, often even unencrypted. What a sleazy operation SoundHound is running.

It used to be pretty good, but now, songs recognition is useless. Every song that it failed to ID, was picked up by Shazam (free).

The best of its kind! Fast and accurate song recognition with a clean and easy to use interface. I love it.

literally won't identify songs anymore. An ad pops up. Click "close" to see what song you identified and it didn't.

Works very well. I listen to a lot of black/death metal, and surprisingly it's 100% correct every time.

I bought the infinity sound hound and it doesn't even find sounds for me anymore . it's annoying. please fix

Hate the updates! No spotify connection, no saving of searches when there is no network available, no good! Please fix.

completely useless. doesn't even identify the clearest recordings of some of the most popular songs spanning generations.

After a lot of update seems to be back in top form and can use it with deezer! loved it!

Great app purchased 8 years ago, decided to install again. Has many more features than it used too.

Works great, except that this paid app is now advertising. Getting greedy.

It has started crashing on launch as of at least 2 days ago, if not since last update.

Useless app, tried it whilst watching AC/DC live. It failed to identify 90% of the songs.

Better than Shazam as it has no ads and is not owned by Apple.

Great in general but Spotify connection drops regularly

Paid for this app twice, once from Amazon, then purged all of my Amazon apps so I paid again because I loved it. Now I'm getting ads? What the hell?!

I just wanna know why yall took the play music, to get to the music faster!!!!! now it just sucks

Great app, but does NOT create a Recents List entry on Galaxy S3 running Android 4.3.

Would be a great app, but it's full of bugs...

no music was heard... regardless of Mosaic volume, the app doesn't recognize music lately.

All these years running and now latest update has spyware.???

Third time my favorites are erased after an upgrade (over 700 songs each time). When will you add an import/export option?!

pay 5 dollars for an app that works half as good as shazam.

Some songs under, "Rock" ain't Rock.
