SnapScan is a mobile payments app, providing South Africans with the most convenient way to securely pay with their phones. After installing the app load your bank card, add a secure pin or fingerprint authentication and then scan a SnapScan QR code to make payments with your phone. 

With SnapScan you can: 
- Pay with your phone
- Shop in store and online
- Settle bills (via invoices and in-app)
- Make donations
- Buy electricity and airtime for you or a friend
- Send money to friends
- Load up to three cards
- Utilize the wallet option for budgeting 
- See a list of previous transactions

What you need:
A valid credit or eCommerce enabled debit card (SnapScan works with all South African banks and most international credit cards).
A working South African cellphone number

Requested permissions:
- Contacts: only used to fill-in your own details during signup (if you select the option). Your address book is never uploaded to us.
- Bluetooth: used to detect SnapBeacons. Bluetooth is only used if you enable the SnapBeacon feature.

    I keep getting the "connecting to your bank" message for the last 20 minutes. I've closed the app, still opens to that message. I've even restarted my phone and it's still on that page/messaging. Surely it should timeout at some point? I'm not even sure if the payment will go through.

    I paid my R2 and when I wanted to open SnapScan from Playstore AGAIN I am expected to load my card AGAIN? How much is it going to cost me to just get going??? I lost info from the bank so did not complete the registration. I am assuming, though only R2, it will not be charged for my next attempt. Thank you for your quick response.

    Why is there no option to stop a transaction. I've been stuck in a reconnection loop for at least 20 minutes. I updated the app and all but you can't stop it. I cannot undo the transaction or stop the reconnect loop until it decides to say transaction failed. The app wants an Internet connection and I have one (since I'm on here rating the app) but it won't connect.

    I recently changed phones and installed the app on my new phone. However, everytime I attempt to use the app, it says that my bank card is invalid? How is that so? I used it on the old phone and it was fine.

    Nice app, but can you please add the option to be able to delete old transactions, it's annoying to have a long list of old transactions. Also add the option to be able to share your transaction via various channels, like email, whatsapp, etc. The Masterpass app has all these functions!

    Amazing app for personal and business never go wrong ... most people in south Africa dont take Diner club cards but with this app you just load you card details on and whoever has the scan can pay so easy cant wait till every1 knows about it... thank you

    Don't bother you will load money and there are like no outlets that use it. All or most use zapper. Waist of time and money cheers. And your money also doesn't stay linked to your card in the wallet.

    When I go through some review thought it's just one incident to a particular person, unfortunately it prove to me that one reviewer was right the 30 minutes wait to verification sms actually is true and probably more than 30 minutes I experience same thing

    I was very satisfied with the app until I had to download it a second time. When I am informed that a one time pin has been sent, it does not arrive on the cell. So I am stuck. Send the pin to my email. When leaving the app to check my messages, I have to start over again when coming back to the app. Now the app us useless to me. # After posting this review I was contacted by the Snapscan team informing me the problem is with the bank. I really appreciate your speedy response. 5 stars for that.

    There is absolutely no justification for the app to require access to your location. When you install the app, read the justification for why location is required, and then consider the privacy that you're giving away in exchange for that "offering"

    Installed app. Followed prompts to register. It then takes money off my account to test, ref: SnapScan Card Test Cape Tow. I then try to make a payment, the camera focusses on the code but nothing else happens. I tried a couple times and gave up. App seems dodgy to me so i removed it, afraid they might do more tests and deplete my credit card without my permission. I gave Zapper a try, worked first time to do a payment without any of the issue experienced here with snapscan.

    had to load a new card. went well until end when I needed to load current pin. but this is a new card and there is no current pin!! I wanted to enter a new pin for it. tried 3 times with same result. got charged 3x R2.00= R6.00 and still not working. going to uninstall!! not happy. totally embarrassed at the vendor. had to borrow from friend to pay

    I have been using SnapScan for a while, but when I try to set up SnapScan on my new phone I need to re-verify my email. However when I click on the link emailed to me, I get the message "The device verification email is not valid anymore". This happens everytime. So.... SnapScan not working

    The app is great! I just wish I could give the cards an alias since I have a cheque and credit card loaded I have no idea which one is which without having to memorise the last 4 digits. Please correct me if there is a way to give an alias then I'll gladly make it 5 stars

    Doesn't work anymore... Not sure what's going on but it's just stuck in an endless loop of validating with my bank, and restarting. Exceptionally frustrating. I've tried unintalling and reinstalling, still have the same issue. Have moved over to Zapper with zero issues.

    So disappointed! Been having issues since last year with adding my card details. Everything goes through, but after verification, the app goes blank and I can't do anything. I've emailed Snapscan last year already and still no feedback with regards to my issue - terrible customer service from your part!

    Used snapscan successfully on my previous phone. Just tried to download it and it refuses to completely load my card, and now it simply says ive reached my maximum alotted number of card changes... No, it just wont load properly the 1st time.

    I love the app but it's not getting 5 stars as the wallet balance does not transfer when you get a new phone and reinstall snapscan. Looks like the wallet is bound to a phone not an account. Please fix this! I lost R250....

    I deleted this app because it does not have the simple security mechanism of a PIN or password to OPEN it before using. FNB app now has the same thing, but if SnapScan adds a initial PIN requirement, I'll use it again.

    Put money in my wallet but when I tried to make a purchase it use money from my bank account and there seems to be now option to use the money from the wallet. Why have a wallet if the app doesn't use that money. (edit) the option still doesn't help because the vendors are unable to scan the code on my phone making it impossible to use the wallet feature still. Why isn't it possible to scan a code and then the funds be taken from my wallet and not from my bank account

    Was working fine until it started hanging when attempting to connect to the bank. It retries continuously and theres no way of stopping it. Really frustrated Haven't been able to make purchase for last few months.

    I would rather use easypay / Masterpass. this app is the worst! Being trying to get the MY OWN money out of the wallet till now! Seems like a plot to get people to load money that cant be used without stresses & struggles first! Use SID payment or eco pays are waaaaaay better

    Doesn't work for me! I get the verification codes from snapscan and my bank. After inserting the verification code from my bank the app goes blank. I have tried this a few times.

    the most frustrating app. tried to load my cr card, asks for OTP from my bank app, great, but once the OTP comes through on my phone and focus is restored to snap scan app, it asks me to take a pic again. cannot load my card!!

    SnapScan is the best mobile payment option in SA right now. I mainly use it at restaurants, for online shopping and paying at markets. I find it to be quicker than swiping and much easier than finding an atm, drawing and carrying cash around.

    Please add manage card functionality. You can only replace a card. The option to cancel a card should be made available. I had to clear my details so the card I loaded could be removed

    Cannot use the app, as it doesn't want to add my card! I have a Standard Bank cheque card that is active, but every time I try to add card it says the bank could not authorize it. Please help fix this

    Works well, prefer snapscan to carrying a wallet. One feature I wish for is to log the time of day (HH:MM) of a transaction, not just the date.

    Telling me my phone is rooted every time I start the app gets a bit much. Not enough merchants make use of snapscan.

    Open the app add a Card I get Card Error , Clear the cache and data add card I get Card Error , Uninstall the app - Open the app add a Card I get Card Error (Note tried two Cards all with positive balance) - double checked my accounts but still Card Error 😤😤
