Great App!!! There could always be an improvement here and there on every app. But in my experience with these astronomy type apps, this one is about as easy to use and informative as they come. It is loaded with options and information, and the customizing of exact location makes it work great for what to expect in yur nightly skies, both now and in the future.

  2. Walter Adams-avatar

    Walter Adams

I like the app a lot, but has notifications for events. Great, but they keep coming even if I have them off. Now it's started notifications with a ping noise. I'm keeping the app for now, hopefully this is just a big or there's a notification option that I missed, but if this keeps happening, I'm going to have to drop the rating and delete the application.

  3. Norman Young-avatar

    Norman Young

Excellent for a relative beginner, like me. Have always enjoyed astronomy, dabbled in it some, but never really studied much. This app is very easy to use and learn from. It is simple to configure to the immediate subject whether it is the planets, constellations, the moon, phases of venus, you name it. Excellent. Thank you for spending time to get it right.

  4. IVLVS Biscuit-avatar

    IVLVS Biscuit

This app is amazing; however, I find the camera mechanics to be quite jittery, and it'll sometimes jump back and forth, it's honestly sometimes hard to control. I would consider Giving you guys 5 stars if you look more into the mechanics. Otherwise... I love this app!!!

  5. Akbar Ibragimov-avatar

    Akbar Ibragimov

It's an amazing app. Not only for photography or astronomy, but also for other things, feelings. Whenever I feel myself alone or sad at night, I just use this app and I can't describe it. It heals my pain. Music, stars, everything. Love this app. Love 💞💞💞

  6. Phill Green-avatar

    Phill Green

Decent app, key feature doesn't work. The compass feature that would allow me to locate things easily doesn't work. On two separate devices (Pixel 2XL and LG G8X), when using the compass it oriented in the totally wrong direction (ex facing north, it would face south west).

  7. Samuel Taunton-avatar

    Samuel Taunton

Seems simple enough to use. Sometimes I feel the music is a good accompaniment, other times it is an annoyance. For which I have a mute! 😂 Nice to see the pictures of the constellations with the stars. Can be difficult to pick out planets when they are clustered together, but will be the same for any app for the non professional / experienced enthusiast.

  8. Peter Evans-avatar

    Peter Evans

Great app EXCEPT for the fact that I had an annoying and totally unexpected sound occurring on and off for weeks and eventually traced it to this app's notification of planets rising (which I had not selected) and which isn't listed in sounds. Caused me lots of wasted time to trace

  9. Darlene Rea-avatar

    Darlene Rea

This app is phenomenal! It is by far the best sky viewing app available. It is the only one with a live sky view for free. I also love the calendar choice of viewing any night in the past. The graphics are great. The color is sharp. The plus and minus to view deeper in space is wondrrful. I could go on and on. Thank you so much! I really appreciate what you have done.

  10. Ankur Rajora-avatar

    Ankur Rajora

This app provides you with more than your expectations. It took me about an hour to know all the main star ,planets and constilations using inbuilt compass and time utility . This app gives you height from sea-level as well ,that you can find in setting option . I'm not yet into 24 hours since downloading the app and have used it for couple of hours mainly to trace sun ,moon , Jupiter , Saturn, Mars ,Ursa Major , Betelgeuse , Polaris and Orion belt . Came to know about the name of a red giant.

  11. Diganta Mondal-avatar

    Diganta Mondal

I already had a Sky gazing app and was not sure if I should install this app. But once I reluctantly installed it, I was like , "WTH!!". This app has all the features I was expecting it to have and few very unique features which I never thought it could have!!! It's a feature rich, intuitive and smooth flowing app. In a word, this app is just a perfect peice of art. Deserved the 5 stars.

  12. Ron Pickering-avatar

    Ron Pickering

Used for comet observation, clouds blocked the view. Only 20 +/- seconds view. App correctly targeted location. Easy to use, pleased with how easy, intuitive it is. First time user, looking forward to continuing usage. Looking for purchasing a telescope. Great tool to introduce science to children. Ease of use makes it fun.

  13. N. R.-avatar

    N. R.

I've had this app just a couple of days, but so far so good. The compass feature is great, and helpful for locating objects in the sky. Nice features and UI. Night mode makes things red to reduce messing up your night-vision. Look forward to learning with this app.

  14. Leandro F. Tarosso-avatar

    Leandro F. Tarosso

Beautiful plattform. Easy working. No disturbing add in the free-version (a very respectfull item!). Ambient sound sucks and it is on by default. But it is easy to deactivate it. Works with limited tools if smartphone does not have a N-S magnet. It'd be improved if user searches were on a list to easier new selections of them. A list a favorite itens would be interesting.

  15. Rahul Mondal-avatar

    Rahul Mondal

It's the most beautifully designed sky app I have ever come across. Wonderfully built with a lot of diverse settings to choose from to enhance your experience. Given the mind blowing visual, it is also filled with info of almost everything in the sky, as far as telescopes can see. Definitely recommended for an enthusiast.

  16. Sayon Pal-avatar

    Sayon Pal

This is an outstanding application (seems to be The BEST in the play store) to recognize and study about stars, planets, galaxies, messier objects, comets, meteor showers and many more. Just if you have a compass enabled phone, this app will work. This application will show you the position of astronomical objects with respect to your location. A lot of data about those objects is given by this application. I'm really happy after installing it. 😀😀😀👏👏👏

  17. Korvin McKernek-avatar

    Korvin McKernek

Very beautiful and useful app. When you want to know what a stars you see overhead it's easy with this app. But it does not accurately determine the position of the planets in the zodiacal constellations.

  18. Ivan Fuentes Hagar-avatar

    Ivan Fuentes Hagar

It would be BY FAR the best sky map out there, if it wasn't for its lack of AR... most others do, the iOS version does... I'm puzzled as to why this one doesn't. It's got the best interface, featureset, looks... but because of the places I usually visit, mostly surrounded by hills and/or mountains, augmented reality is a must for me.

  19. Esther oommen-avatar

    Esther oommen

This app made me feel even more better! I like this app, it has all the features that I wanted in a basic and educational app😊 I have been using a different app for many years but after I got this app , it stepped up!! I like the way they have kept the different types of horizons, really nice😁 I like the one with mountains and all those crazy features!! Worth of 230MB👍🏽 people who have been using or want to use an app like this they should really try this. It's worth gazing...😉

  20. HarrietL Plyler-avatar

    HarrietL Plyler

This app is delightful. Very peaceful music, flawless movement of the screen, and spot-on location of constellations and direction. Great search function, too (eg pinpointing a particular constellation or comet). I have told everyone I know to get this app immediately...whether they care all that much about star watching or not!

  21. Katsura Kotarou-avatar

    Katsura Kotarou

sky safari is the best free sky observation app that ive found. it does not have any ads. there are various settings to make the app more suitable to your liking. the sky map is pretty accurate even though in the compass mode it tends to lost its calibration. when a star or planet is selected it gives some details about them which is quite handy.

  22. Joe Bloggs-avatar

    Joe Bloggs

Stellarium compass works perfectly. SkySafari compass on my Galaxy A8 phone, is not stable and jitters (shakes) star field view. Adjusting settings does not remove jitter. Problem with your app needs fixing and reading other reviews, I am not alone. Would be great app if you fixed the bug or offered additional user setting (that actually works) to tweak compass sensitivity. Uninstalling app for now, but watching and waiting for an improvement.

  23. M 7-avatar

    M 7

Ok for a reference chart and it has a fairly large catalogof objects, but the compass mode is way off. (On Samsung Note 10+) Devs, please add an option to manually adjust the compass heading. Recalibration would be cool if it worked, but manually setting north is probably easier to add.

  24. عمر بن منظور قریشی-avatar

    عمر بن منظور قریشی

This is a pretty fine app. I am in love with it. Always guided me. Proper location everytime. But nowadays i am facing a problem. Whenever I click on the compass option, it shows nothing else than a bunch of names and jumbled circles. I am confused. I don't know how to solve it.

  25. Demon Slayer-avatar

    Demon Slayer

Wow, very empressing, this is one of my best sky companion in several years, its easy to work and no bugs at all, Also i caught few meteor showers because of this app that allows you to track where is the meteor shower and when which i found myself some Lyrids Meteor Shower and Eta Aquarid, its such a great app.If you want some help at discovering night skies then you should probably download this, most good about this thing that it so easy to use and u can learn more about deep objects and sky.

  26. Cristan-avatar

I'm absolutely in love with this app! Honestly I feel guilty having to know that this app has **so** many capabilities and yet I'm using it for free. I wish I can financially support already but I'm still 16 years old so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Anyway, I'm 1000% thankful for this, everything works wonderfully, I totally recommend this to anyone who loves astronomy!!

  27. Mardens Ark Avian Refuge-avatar

    Mardens Ark Avian Refuge

Very easy to use, I tried several others, and they were either very obnoxious with ads, or were not easy to figure out. This is very intuitive and offers a lot of information and features other apps only give with the paid version.

  28. Heather Crinean-avatar

    Heather Crinean

Cimpass doesn't work. i have a Google 1000 phone with Gps on and it shows the opposite direction as my sons phone standing beside me. same settings. same everything. uninstalled reinstalled. wifi on wifi off. correct lat and long. camera is facing the correct direction. rapped compass. nothing. not happy. kind of pissed actually

  29. Joseph Ridener-avatar

    Joseph Ridener

I'm not sure if it's the magnetometer or the accelerometer that is failing but my screen would match the sky behind it and now it doesn't do that and not sure why . I still gave it 5 stars though.

  30. K N-avatar

    K N

Amazing! I love this app! I was (unsuccessfully) looking for the Neowise comet when I came across this app and I can't get enough of it. If you are interested in astronomy or curious about learning more, this app has it all - information, excellent graphics, loads fast, doesn't drain the battery. I can't say enough about it except give it a try!

  31. Kevin Hayworth-avatar

    Kevin Hayworth

Love the app! The compass view has helped me to find the comet neowise and all the other heavenly bodies in the sky! I like how you can fast forward to track the movements too!

  32. Ange-avatar

Love this app so much. I've found so many meteors, comets, satellites just through being able to turn it on after seeing something when outside & also checking out the search icon on the app for interesting nightly happenings & as to look out for.. Such a wonderful addition to family stargazing without it feeling intrusive & like technology is clouding such a beautiful, fun experience. Thank You X

  33. Martin G Miller-avatar

    Martin G Miller

Works very well. You can find all sorts of things easily. I deductedc1 star because the android version doesn't do A.R. Also, it dims quickly and when you touch the screen to bring back the full brightness, it freezes up for a few seconds. I could not find a setting to change the timing for the screen dimming.

  34. Sally-avatar

This astro app is simple and pleasant to use. It tracks stars and planets in real time and shows the name and a description just by holding your device upward toward the sky. It has a little lag time if moving your device too fast, but has a nice focus and interface.

  35. MARTIN BAILEY-avatar

Works ok, but no NGC search and loads of common names missed out of the search, like California and Pacman nebula, so I have to look up another designation on the web, before I can search. I'll stick with Stellarium.

  36. KH Moriyama-avatar

    KH Moriyama

i use stellarium on a PC. but on a phone, sky safari is better; it is easy to see and use. it would be better if it has the equatorial mount mode and the display of grid lines (RA/DEC, AZ/EL).

  37. bigtrukk-avatar

The first thing that I like about this is the relaxing mellow music in the background as you're viewing the stars in real time. And there is quite a bit of information for whatever you're looking at.

  38. Note Guy-avatar

    Note Guy

Descent app but way too many ads and they over ride everything! I don't mind ads as it pays the developer, but I was watching a movie and it locks and minimizes it or puts a ad that blocks use of your device until you click the X and the ads are less than a minute apart. 👎👎👎 A one is very best and I'm very fair. It locks placing the feedback 5 times while I was typing. Horrible

  39. Alma Liss-avatar

    Alma Liss

It's a good one! Lots of info about stars in the descriptions (some more that others). The music could be turn off-on. Sometimes takes a few seconds to aligns when scanning the sky but overall has been my favourite app for the summer. Wig you could record your favourite stars for later location.

  40. Davina Wonderling-avatar

    Davina Wonderling

I love being able to see what's in the sky even during the day when the sun is up! SkySafari lets me know when the space station and space Hubble telescope will rise, and I like that because I can plan accordingly. Thanks for a great app!

  41. George Rowe-avatar

    George Rowe

Great app, helps me figure out what I'm looking at and what would can expect to see on any given night and time. Helps in planning where and what to look for.

  42. Diana Walter-avatar

    Diana Walter

I've used this app almost every day in the two months since I downloaded it and can hardly believe how much I've learned. The user experience alone is exemplary; there is so much information packed into it but I never have any trouble finding what I want to know.

  43. Chad Crowe-avatar

    Chad Crowe

Amazing app for any stargazer. Locate stars, planets, and deep sky objects with ease. Being able to search (tonight's best) or manual along with ability to adjust time to plan for a great night, weather permitting... Thanks and clear skies

  44. Frank Aguilar-avatar

    Frank Aguilar

As a newbie to SkySafari, I'm really enjoying using this app. I'm still figuring out and discovering "how to" (how it works) but I'm finding it's useful for tracking meteors. You can use it from your living room or you can use it outside. I'd recommend you try it, you'll like it.

  45. Tara Plum-avatar

    Tara Plum

Really great software I had tried another one but it wasn't nearly as intuitive and was missing a lot of objects. I love how easy it is to cycle forward a few hours too to see where your targets are going to be

  46. Nikola95inYT-avatar

Great app! Though comets C/2020 P4 (SOHO) have not been visible since August , but this app shows that they still are at magnitude 0, which is a big mistake! This should be fixed and false information must be removed.

  47. Brandy Bauer-avatar

    Brandy Bauer

THE BEST! I have had multiple star gazer apps. This one is the best. Fast forward, rewind times, search for stars, planets, satellites, meteors, comets etc. All in real time.

  48. Gary E-avatar

    Gary E

Both my wife and I, have this app. We like 👍 it. Only issue is, she can see neowise on her phone, but I can't. She has a Samsung 10 plus and I have a note 10. Same Android operating system. What gives? That is the reason for 4 stars 🌟.

  49. zaib eliii-avatar

Best app for "Every single thing you want"❤️ Just one more: 1-no ads (thanks 😊) 2-all facilities ( thanks 🥰) ...... Problem... 1-when ever I zoom into a planet (mercy/mars/...) It's good that we can zoom in but The images are not that much clear..... Please make it much clear 😢 I would love to give 5stars review 💯😍

Love this app, very user-friendly, tons of information. Lots of help when I'm out with my telescope locating points of interest! Highly recommend

  51. Geoffrey Mullett-avatar

    Geoffrey Mullett

Some times it's hard to navigate. If you search for an object it often only gives you the center option, which is a total pain. You should always have the locate and center options available, otherwise what's the point of the app?

  52. Jeremy Herbert-avatar

    Jeremy Herbert

I like the app, but one thing that really annoys me is the notifications. I don't want them but can't seem to disable them. Even turning them off at the app and permissions and notifications level I still get the notification sound but no actual notification. How is that even possible?

  53. Mary Hardy-avatar

    Mary Hardy

Love this! Identifies stars and planets I see in the sky. So many tease you and won't identify anything without paying for a premium and even then, nothing. This app gives you information on the star or planet.

  54. Richard Anderson-avatar

    Richard Anderson

It's a reasonably good app, but the compass does not accurately calibrate to north, and it's incredibly annoying that i have to keep tapping my screen to keep the app alive while using it. Really would be helpful if those could be addressed by the developer and fixed

  55. Joseph Alcock-avatar

    Joseph Alcock

Outstanding features within the application platform. The accuracy is impressive. Awesome graphics that proforms smoothly. I enjoy the music that prolongs me to watch. It is a great learning tool to learn the words shown.

  58. David Leather-avatar

Easy to install and navigate. Check first that your device has a compass/ gyro installed to get the best experience. If your screen goes blank, just zoom out. I had zoomed in on a blank part of the sky by mistake.

  59. Zac Ical-avatar

This app is the best! I love gazing at the stars at night here in Belize and it helps me learn all the star names. It is easy to configure. Amazing app!

  60. Scott Dixon-avatar

Great app for beginners and experienced people alike. Only app that I have found that has placement spot on. Takes a little bit to load. Great learning experience and fun facts.

  61. St Badhon-avatar

    St Badhon

It's an amazinh app! Learning so many things. It'd be better if you could add some info like you can't see pluto in naked is and other useful info will definatley help. Plus interesting facts about stars and planet and a voice will read out the info would be amazing!

  62. Michael Castaldo-avatar

This is an excellent app. It answers my, "What is..." and "Where is..." questions perfectly. It also gives me a significant amount of detail describing what is out there in the sky.

  63. Andy Rathman-avatar

Easy to use! It shows the sky where you look, and will point out specific objects if you like! A little slow on tracking, but a great app!

  64. broken biscuit-avatar

The app is great. The sound constantly going off, even though i have turned all notifications off, is making me want to uninstall. Why does it have to not be in use for "a day or so" for them to stop? Terrible coding.

  65. Juliana Ventura-avatar

This app is amazing! It's a great way to learn about astronomy. The only downsides are that it's very American focused, and you can't select constellations. I'd like to see a wider variety of stories as well, bit just classical ones

  69. Ed Canellas-avatar

    Ed Canellas

Fixing The time for a leep year on this app. Normally on the app is set one day behind. To fix this problem, turn off automatic time zone in your phones settings time and date, and reset to correct date.

  70. Book_ Davies-avatar

    Book_ Davies

I like this planetarium app best, so far. I've tried a bunch of them, and this one wins. I'd add an ecliptic indicator and RA/DEC grid. Other than that, super! (I haven't compared to Stellarium yet.)

  71. Nola Ann Crews Horne-avatar

GREATEST SKY APP OUT THERE!!! This will show you where you need to look in the night sky. Everything from meteor showers, planets, comets, stars, asteroids, etc. I have tried them all but this is the best of the best!!!🥰🥰🥰

I used the app for the first time lastnight. It's great especially with all the different things that were going on last night. We live near Edwards Air Force base. Its really dark up here .Great for stargazing.

I would put 5 stars but it doesn't move to show me what my phone is facing in the sky like it did on my old phone. Very easy to figure out. Lots of good facts to learn about everything in the night sky

An excellent guide to the night sky. Very customizable so you can control the level of detail that's displayed.

It is a fine you adequate knowledge about space but only problem is that you can't find anything you want..there is a limitation but that limitation is not brief and you'll enjoy it

I could revise this to 5 stars, but I just got this app and am still exploring it. Great features for a free app. I love the display customization. Great catalogue of objects for free - including comets, which is why I was looking around for a new sky app. I would like to be able to scale the opacity of the classical constellation art separate from the constellation lines.

  78. Bill P-avatar

    Bill P

Pretty cool but.....neowise wasn't shown. It also didn't show the moon when it was visible in the sky. Not that I needed it to show the moon when I could see it, but..... Other than that its nice.

One problem: object name text, including stars, is too large. I know the brightness of the text is adjustable; still, just, too dang big!

Everything I expected from a free app and ad free. Easy to use, full of useful information on sky objects and really like the night sky view where the screen turns red. Unable to comment on GPS as my device doesn't have the required hardware. I use an orientation compass and match itv against the compass points on the app instead.

Absolutely 5 stars. Used this app to find the ISS and Neowise and worked like a charm. The UX is not perfect, but the utility of the app makes these small imperfections seem like nothing.

SkySafari has helped so much with learning the night sky and identifying objects. Much easier to use than star charts, and with greater functionality for me. Friends and family have appreciated my passing on information about this app, and I'll gladly continue my word-of-mouth recommendations!

  111. Joshua S-avatar

Nice interface, but it failed to identify where NEOWISE was in the sky. That, and too much advertising for SkySafari products makes it not as worthwhile as other more accurate, free apps.

This is awful. Compass works fine on every other app except this one. Emailed developer for a refund.... no response. All they want is your money. Other apps are much better, clearer, and work. This one simply doesn't.

  116. Joe Mondello-avatar

    Joe Mondello

Disappointed to learn that the screen will timeout based on your home screen settings and NOT stay on even while actively viewing the app. Developer says feature only available in Plus or Pro version. Not cool, something as basic as this should be a normal feature. If I'm looking at the app and enjoying what's displayed I should NOT have to touch the screen every 30 seconds to ensure it stays on. And I shouldn't have to adjust the screen timeout feature on my home screen settings just to honor this app's unusual behavior. No other app paid or free I have does this!

  117. Shelley Holloway-avatar

    Shelley Holloway

While it gives you the names and positions of stars and planets, the calibration is so off I gave my location (by the GPS provided) and the sun is at my back, I'm pointing it toward my left shoulder, app telling me that the sun is in front of me. (Oh yeah, I was in the shade)

Just started using it. But so far it seems pretty good. I got it to find the neowise comet. It shows it on the app but i havent seen it in persin yet. But i like how it shows you where the stars & planets & things are & where they are in the sky by holding it up to the sky.

Download it and do this. Go into settings, set constellations to only display the zodiac also turn the IAU boundaries on and set the the date to mar 21, 2600. The sky map shows the sun entering the Age of Aquarius.

A little lag time and adjustment of the compass direction (up to 30sec to find bearings), though this could be my older style Oppo phone. Other than that it is intuitive to use, easy to navigate and a pleasure to learn from.
