The app is great. Very simple UI which I guess should be expected considering the name 😋. Anyway why I gave three stars is because there's no way to view the actual transactions. If there is it must be buried in the UI some where I can't find. So I end up using the web browser on my phone which shows transactions. Otherwise five stars. EDIT: so turns out the transactions appear when your initial deposit it's added. Good to know. 👍

Broken UI One Plus 7pro, in the Goals section when I tap to open one of my active goals the "progress bar" is at the very bottom of my device, and I cannot see the pause/resume, make transfer text buttons. The only way to "make a transfer" is to delete the goal all together. It's been like this for over two months, I thought it was a bad update, but it has persisted none the less. Giving this a 3 until later.

Joined Simple when Google Wallet was discontinued and can honestly say it was for the better. Banking and financial management in one package and they continue to keep adding features. I constantly recommend Simple to friends and family looking to get a hold of their finances. Their support is top notch as well which is just icing on the cash cake 🍰.

I'm a huge Simple fan, and the app overall is great. I do wish it supported a few additional things, however: 1) Send money to a friend or another account on a recurring schedule (e.g. rent payment / sharing); 2) Arbitrary number of protected goals (emergency fund is nice, but need more); 3) Automatic categorization based on name AND amount range (e.g. two bills from same company at different times as different expenses that are each automatically paid correctly)

The app used to be pretty good except for the fact that it refused to let me set a pin for my card. Now it takes me THREE tries to log in on mobile. Why is that necessary? It's annoying and a waste of time.

Recent updates have prevented the app from scaling/displaying goals correctly. Some show correctly, some are skewed and missing everything.

Amazing experience, extremely easy to use, super helpful, better than any other bank I've used. Did I say enough? I love this app, bank, budget. It's awesome and I'm staying! Update: Just found an amazing feature in the app that shows all of the issues they resolved and how many days between issues! Still love this app and bank!!

Best budgeting banking app ever! This bank app is incredible. The budgeting features for expenses and goals are non-existent in other apps. The interest rate for their savings account is the highest I've seen for a modern banking app, even beating out Ally at this time. Last year I requested a feature and it was just implemented this year. I love Simple and share it with all my friends!

I like it. It was hard to navigate the app at first but it's easy now. I love that it separates funds for my expenses and it spends from it as well. Leaving my STS alone. For me, thats like bill pay(a feature I missed out on because of when I signed up). The only minor issue is setting up the auto fund for expenses. I get paid bi-weekly. If I set it up for "every other Monday", for example, it always set up to fund on a Monday I don't get paid. For now, I just transfer manually.

Love this bank! I switched from a regular bank because of hefty overdraft fees constantly draining my savings. Some key features would be the virtual envelopes that you can save money in for expenses, and a seperate savings account where you can create goals and save towards them. I do not regret the switch! Banking truly is Simple now (:

Simple is my number one favorite online bank, omg they definitely own up to their name. What more can you ask for, you can manage everything easy with Simple. Their debit card is beautiful and Simple does not do fee's at all and their customer's service is great. Simple is the way of life, so be smart with your cash. ((Btw if you the type of PERSON who say "I was scared to give them my ssn", all bank's ask for your social security number DUH!!!!)).

Simple is the bank to use honestly. It's so awesome to be able to setup all of your expenses to be set aside from your direct deposit to where it's ready to be used when it automatically withdraws from your account. All of your expenses are kept in a separate tab or portion of your bank account so you know what is "safe to spend" (what they like to call it). Love love love Simple, the only thing I wish they did would be to cover atm fees (at least like $10 worth every month) like Ally does.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much Simple has changed the ways in which I manage my money. Through Simples Goals, I've been able to pay off over 10k of debt. I mean, come on. The app is typically perfect - every now and then something will go wrong but typically since I'm always kept informed by the app, when it does go wrong, I have a firm grasp on where I'm at with money and it doesn't matter. I love Simple. This is a great company and the best bank.

Cool concept but lacks important features. I thought I would be ok with having to use another bank to transfer or take pics of checks and money orders, but it's starting to get annoying. Deposits take several business days, I don't know why! If Simple bank had Zelle pay abilities it would be worthy of 4 maybe even 5 stars. Until then, it's a 2 AT BEST!

I like the free checking, easy Venmo transfers, and ability to deposit checks by taking a picture with my smartphone. Two annoying things. 1. Lack of ATM locations. 30 minute drive to my nearest free ATM. Could pay service charge at nearby BofA, but why defeat the purpose of free checking? 2. If you don't log in every few days, it requires username and password. This might seem like a logical security step, but it always, always, ALWAYS turns into drawn out ordeal involving email after email.

A Couple of Update Notes: (1.) Expenses NO LONGER sort by date, only alphabetically; making them tedious and difficult to track. Goals has a toggle to sort by alpha and date—why is it missing here? (2.) First pass at Dark Mode looks promising, but Expenses/Goals progress is shaded so lightly it's almost impossible to see; particularly if you have mild color blindness.

What I hate about this app is that I CAN'T reload my "Simple" Bank Card with cash at a store or another Bank's ATM which makes the Simple App and the Card so useless to me. "Simple" needs to work with all banks and stores to make sure that there's a CASH RELOAD/ DEPOSIT option

Needs to support API level 29 for face detection. Requirement for app updates to be level 29 was November 1st and we are still only have finger print detection.

I have left few reviews for apps. Either when they are horrendous to the point I actually am pissed and will spend time leaving a review...or when I love the app and feel it needs to spread. I've been with Simple since maybe 2015 or 2016. Love the app and the constant tweaking they do through feedback. What I love more... THE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Hands down the best I've ever dealt with!

AWFUL experience. A few months back, hey had issues with our deposits posting which left me stranded. Today, I deposited two money orders to cover my rent because that's the only way to deposit cash. Instead of being available the next day like the app said, I got a message at 7:15pm tonight saying it would have a 5 day hold. My husband and I have had this account for TWO YEARS. Now my rent is going to bounce. I'm DONE with BBVA and Simple. We're moving our direct deposits and accounts asap.

They really missed the mark on "simple". I could not dependably move cash in and out of my account without hitting "daily limit error" even though I'd might have moved zero cash that day. I gave up trying to move my finances over.

I been banking with Simple for almost 6 months now and I gotta say, I love it! It's a real and honest bank with no loopholes (at least from what I've seen) and best of all there's no risk of loosing your money. No fees, no risk, what else could you ask for? Staying with Simple for hopefully a long time.

Deposit/transfer is slower with lower threshold for holds than other apps. Demands more info than other banks without features that justify the needs. The app developers cannot address many issues for banking service because it is outsourced by a bank from Spain that does not seem to have sufficient managerial employees within U.S. to address issues. Considering processing times & restrictions, Simple has been only as quick & convenient as PayPal with its debit card.

Not Simple At All I am highly disappointed. I wanted to utilize simple to make my banking process easier. I have been trying to transfer money to my account from another bank but having linking issues for three days now. I messaged their help desk for support and cant get a response. I'm seriously considering closing my account because this doesn't give me much confidence.

I really like the access to your money this app and service provides. The shared accounts are awesome for family spending. The money management this app provides is great. Easy to audit your spending, move money out of view for saving and manage expenses coming in and money going out.

This is my dream bank account BUT they haven't sent me 3 debit cards with a broken chip! It's been a month since the newest card stopped working and they haven't figured out a thing leaving me without access to my funds. I've accumulated credit balance in the meantime and they literally suggest me to use a check... All my other cards with the chip work in the same wallet, so it's clear they have issues. The bank is great, until you need something, then you're completely screwed.

I have been using this this bank for years... One day an unauthorized check cleared from my account. ??? How does this happen? When I never ordered any checks and they even told me that they were aware of this... So they start an investigation and that was almost a month ago... And when I ask for an update all I get is that its still processing. Im out of $471 and behind on bills!!! Thanks Simple

Can't access the mobile app. Changed password, deleted and reinstalled yet can't access it. No issues signing in on PC. Tells me that username or password is incorrect. Tried several times to get in but won't work. Frustrated. No problems with bank itself just that the mobile app sucks after recent update.

Best Bank app for saving money and budgeting, hands down.

I have had this bank for 5 years now. When I started Simple I was going from paycheck to paycheck. With some hard work on my end and their simple "Safe-to-Spend" They helped me keep track of my money. Without spending time actually tracking my money. Goals and Expenditures and Savings are all taken out when I get my paycheck so I know how much 'fun money' I can spend. Simple helped me with fraud. Two years my credit card number was stolen and used at a Walmart. This app told me right away I had a credit charge. When I looked at the charge Simple's staff already erased the charge, it blocked my card and an hour later called me to give me the 411. They rushed me out a new card within days. I Really love this bank.

OKish app. Been with Simple for 2 years and have been disappointed with the lack of new features. It does not really offer anything substantially better vs the major bank apps. Minor gripe: every update wipes the credentials. Happens so often I almost know login and pwd by heart. :-)

I had a good experience with this bank until my husband lost his phone he called in and I called in and then they locked his accounts as was told his wife is not allowed to have any of his banking info.and that I compromised his account and that you're not supposed to tell your spouse this information and let her know, illegal??? I have never dealt with this before,the audacity I definitely do not feel like a valued and respected customer me or my husband, broken phone no access nvr again

I honestly can't figure out what people are complaining about. I've had Simple for almost a year if not longer and I've never had any issues. If you want everything done immediately, pick a bank that's not online? But you have to wait for deposits and what not there as well usually.

Great app. I appreciate the constant updates. Now that I have a Pixel 4, I miss my quick fingerprint login, hopefully you add the ability to use Google's smart Lock features, so I can use my face to unlock the app. Mild inconvenience for being an early adopter I guess.

I love simple! It really lives up to it's name! Way to use and responsive support. 9 days ago I suggested a dark mode and now it's been implemented! I don't know if others requested it but it's still impressive turnaround!

Applied for an account 2 weeks ago with no success because of a "hiccup" with their system. I have called twice and the issue still hasn't been resolved. Proceed with caution.

I really want to rate them a zero. They started out great. I recommended Simple to my friends and recently when I made a fraudulent claim they were great, however because of my address change and where I am currently living they won't issue a new card. It shouldn't matter where I live, everything else stayed the same, same direct deposit from the same company, my ID, SS# all the same. Definitely advertising for you... Free of charge

Simple banking has been great, very easy to use, lots of safety features, I am glad that I can use it with Google Pay & Samsung Pay. App works great. I highly recommend Simple Banking.

Could not open an account through a browser. Waited three days for someone to be available for help. Tthey told me to use the app. The app said my email was already in use. A financial institution this disorganized about signing up new members is probably not a safe place to keep money.

Horrible!!! DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT place money with Simple!!! I place $2,000 into their "goals" account a little under a year ago and know I need access to my money and now the Simple representatives told me my account is in an "inactive" status and I can not have access to my money for up to 3 days.

Excellent bank! Love using my simple bank account, great budgeting and easy customer service. Finally a budgeting system that works!! Only feedback is the white lettering on your card is nearly impossible to read.

Great for, payroll , govt benefit and or smartphone camera deposits and merchant monthly auto debits ( i.e. rent , car note , utilities , fines etc.;). Additionally this bank offers an assortment of viable savings and credit building tools.

Updates seem to have fixed the overwhelming majority of issues but I'm still severely disappointed nothing (transfers from Simple to Simple for example) seems instant like it was in the beginning.

One of the best banking apps I've used other than chime. Has great compatibility with third party services.

Last two updates state Dark theme support but no such setting anywhere to be found and my phone is set to dark theme. The Simple logo that shows for a second when I open the app is dark theme but that is all I see dark.

Everything was great at first. Then they canceled my account for no reason! I deposit money orders to refill my account and with no explanation or anything they just closed my account! It's not like I wrote a bad check because I physically bought the money order myself! Mind u I had deposited this way NUMEROUS times before....I tried to call customer service and they told me they dont know why it was closed and that it wasn't their department! Smfh dont waste your time!

As of 09/20/19 - Simple support is still staffed with human operators and account specialists that will pick up the phone and talk to you without jumping through hoops battling with an automated system.. This is good stuff. Had account for 5+ years, no issues. Not great for anyone that has to work in cash. App is clean, goals are easy to use, they got rid of direct to mail checks so you have to mail them yourself now, but other than that, easy to use, clean, simple.

Overall I'm really happy I bank with them and their app is So Simple to use ;) See what I did there.

I just started using this app But so far it's very easy, and they were very helpful to. I think I'm going to be very happy.

It’s been nearly 2 months and no one can give me any info. I have taken the necessary steps to have my money back before the holidays but nothing has been done. This is absurd that it takes this long to get my money back! I never approved any money be transferred in the first place. The signature on the cashed check doesn’t even look like mine. I was in Washington working. I even have multiple people to verify I was in Washington state. My account wasn’t only cleared completely out but this bank allowed an individual to change all my personal information to access my account with out my permission or even hearing my voice. I will be taking this to the next level to ensure my money is returned to me. There will be further legal action taken if I can’t get an answer from this bank. If I could put a negative star rating I would but the App Store doesn’t work that way.

Simple should be renamed complicated. Wouldn't allow me to link an account (tried several account several times), wouldn't take my check deposit because I didn't write "mobile deposit" on the back, won't provide updates to my phone because it's too old yet I can't do deposits from a laptop. Myriad of issues making this bank anything but SIMPLE to use.

Using Simple only for interest on savings, and the internal transfers method is really buried/hidden in the goals area (deposits go to the checking). I guess the 'selecting a goal' thing may matter if you use the checking for your spending, but using it as a savings-only w/ a Protected Goals account, choosing a goal doesn't actually count the balance in that account toward your goal? Makes no sense. Just not an easy too use app.

I was so excited about having this alternative banking solution. They let me put thousands of dollars into their bank, a few days later they froze my account because it needed verification. I have tried to verify many times, called them on numerous occasions to the point I wanted to close the account. I can't even get my money back until my account is verified but no one has given me any useful information on how to do it so it works.

I thought this bank was perfect with the 0 fees and budgeting software however there's no reason why deposits need to take three days. Also weekends don't count either so have fun waiting around 5 days if you deposit on any days but Monday or Tuesday. Not very convenient so I may search for another bank that offers what simple does without the long deposit wait.

For a bank that's totally online you would think you could do everything within the app that you could do on the web site. But, nope, you can't. You need to change that Simple. Outside of that... Simple is okay; no fees, easy to get set up; doesn't bombarded you with adverts begging you to start direct deposit like Chime does.

Doesnt even let me open an account, and wont tell me why. What a joke

This is a horrible bank. They randomly choose to hold your deposits. Even after you tell them the rent is due, they will hold it for up to 5 business days. Congratulations when your rent is a week past due and you get an eviction notice.

At first I loved this bank. However, I had a problem and had to change accounts and had a ACH deposit pending when they closed the account which I was assured would go into the new account. it didn't, that was May 31. it is now June 21st and I am still missing my money. This back found it but can't seem to figure out how to give it back. meanwhile I can't pay my Bill's or get my car out of the shop. On top of that, I overdrafted (- my deposit) and now they are threatening to close my account

Love it, try it for yourself and easy to use

Simple has really helped my husband and I to get our finances organized easily and conveniently. With no fees and instant transfers they were always fantastic but now they even have paper checks and an option for shared accounts. HIGHLY recomend to everyone for easy reliable banking.

Ive been with Simple 5+ years, recommending them to many people. However, over the past few years they have been stripping out key features (bill pay), not optimizing their savings/expense features to be usable. Support has been spotty at best recently and non-existent at worst. I recently had to deposit a large check, was forced to mail it to an address one state over. Its been 2 weeks and I still dont have the full deposit in my account. Goodbye Simple, you had s good run.

Great banking app... when it works. We'll be switching to Aspiration. My wife and I started using Simple primarily because they had joint accounts and we could make instant transfers to and from it to our individual accounts. Lately, there has been a bug with instant transfers that makes them take upwards of 90 minutes sometimes. This has resulted in us sitting and waiting for transfers to go through while trying to pay at restaurants or waiting for 1.5hrs in the grocery store just waiting to be able to check out. When asking support for some sort of compensation for this KNOWN ISSUE they did not let their users know about, we got the response of, "We're going to tell you we're sorry, but we don't care enough to make this issue right by you." Bye Felicia and hello, Aspiration.

Overall, good software. This is why I still use Simple. my main gripe is thay they removed the Bill Pay feature, so I now have to do a weird workaround to pay my auto loan. This is still a very standard feature, and it wasn't a good idea to get rid of it so soon, in my opinion. Some things in this app, like protected goals, are also confusing and unnecessarily complicated to use. Sometimes it feels like I'm serving the app, not the other way around.

I have used Simple for 3 years. Overall the experience is great. I love the app. The biggest downside was the long check holding period for the first 30 days. If you get paid with paper checks, it's a pain at first, but after that first month it's single business day. If you get paid heavily in cash, pick another bank. However, twice now a bug in the app adds and calculates money that doesn't exist. It ruins the whole app because nothing is accurate. If these keep happening, I'm out.

Notifications do not work on Android.

the activity log only shows about 15% of the money that actually goes in and out of your account, if you want information on any of the rest, you won't get it. frequently, $50-100 would go missing from my account, with no sign of where it went. And was only returned back to my account after days of sending messages to support with no response. I'd sooner trust my three-year-old nephew with my money

Simple has some really nice features like setting goals for things I want to save up for, the ability to budget monthly expenses, and see exactly what money is safe to spend so I don't cut into bill money. Main gripe with the app is that from time to time, it will bug out and not accept my password, so I have to reset the password to get it to work.

I loved using Simple at first, recently they decided to due away with the "mail a check" option. which I used every month to pay my rent. There "work around" was to tell me to pay it in cash, or give them money for checks. I decided to switch banks afrer that. Now they are giving me the run around about transferring money to my new bank. I would stay away from Simple.

My husband & I have used Simple for years and were happy customers until recently. There's an ongoing glitch that causes "instant" transfers to take upwards of 90 minutes, and makes money disappear from protected goals and safe to spend. After being told by repeated reps that it was a known issue, we had another rep tell us it wasnt a known issue and we should have been submitting support tickets every time it occured. The latest response was basically "Sorry not sorry." We're done with Simple.

I had several unauthorized transactions via ACH come through which Simple simply told me theres nothing they can do to secure my account. They couldn't change my account number or close this account and open a new one. So, I had no choice left but to close my account. If you can't protect customers accounts from fraud then people will simply switch to a bank/ credit union that can!

I've had Simple since they were originally invite only and have never had an issue. The app itself is super user friendly and capable of a lot of things. Simple as a bank is also great and their customer service is top notch. The loss of having them mail checks for bill pay recently was pretty big loss for me but there are other methods out there. Also you wont be able to deposit cash with Simple but I have never had a reason to ever need to deposit cash so its not really a big deal for me.

definitely not simple. hard to navigate, not sure what types of accounts and which. plus, was told i was given a larger sign on bonus, which was later reversed to significantly lower. do not recpmmend.

I don't usually leave reviews, but I had to say how much I love Simple. They really live up to their name -- it was so simple to fix when I lost my wallet and needed a replacement! I blocked my card right from my phone and had a new one being mailed to me the next day! Simple's customer support team is exceptional, fast, and super friendly! Absolutely would recommend to anyone.

You have no way to get money out if you lose your debit card. A lot of waiting for mobile check deposits and transfers. Lots of weird charges and changes to account activity that make no sense. You have to wait up to 21 days for a new debit card. Cancellation of transfers from one bank to the other without notice making it impossible to close the account or get money when you do lose your card.
