I don't usually leave reviews but this one is needed. I HATE this app. It used to be good, but lately I can't do a thing with it. If I bring it up, it refuses to load my dashboard, visits or anything which is a MAJOR problem when I'm trying to start my drop-ins for clients. The only time it seems to work decently is when I'm connected to wi-fi...AT MY OWN HOME. It won't work on cellular networks. What use is that when I need the app at a client's house without wi-fi?!

I was really happy with Rover and the service it provides. I mostly am, except for the fact they keep billing me on a recurring, weekly basis. When I set up the sitter bookings, I set start and stop dates and had them occur over a period of two weeks. For three weeks after, on Sundays, Rover would send me an email to remind me of my upcoming booking and charge me. I contacted the sitter (who was great) and together we would call customer service to correct and get a refund - BUT THE BOOKING KEPT BEING RESCHEDULED AND CHARGED! I found out I could only change it in the app (with customer service assistance) and not the desktop version. It was very frustrating and took away from the service's overall effectiveness. I recommend an easier scheduling interface and shared functionality between the app and desktop versions.

I have loved the opportunities I have experienced from this app. I have helped lots of families with their animals as they travel or need extra assistance and have really enjoyed it. I really love getting to meet and interact with different dog breeds, especially the larger breeds. The only issues with the app I've encountered are problems with messaging in the app of messages not sending through.

The notifications are excessive. It really should be reworked. Rover claims to only take 20% of your earnings, yet according to my records they took closer to 30%. On my $158 payment from my client, Rover took a little over 40 dollars. And with the PayPal (who they partner with) fees included, it was $114 by the time it got to my bank account. Finding reason to stay is challenging, considering I can use Craigslist ads or put up flyers for my services. =(

App is good love the setup and how easy it is to use the app. I only have one problem with it and that would be the rover fees. The rover fees are a little too high which causes me to have to raise my prices then I end up getting less interactions from people who need sitters. Not to mention I would have to pay taxes to the IRS at the end of the year and that also takes a chunk of your earnings. Would definitely give the app five stars if they lowered their fees for the sitters .

I don't like that either they take the 20% but also they keep our tip as sitters and that makes it confusing for me at least because im expecting a certain amount (doing this job as full time) and rover ends up taking more than a hundred The requests are fine but as sitter i think thats a little unfair 😓

$15/dog is a bit excessive. I have 3 dogs who need let out of crates, put outside, and put back in crates. I paid just under $50 for this to be done. Sitter arrived 2 hours late, one dog had an accident in his crate due to this lateness, wet blanket was left in the crate, so the poor pup spent a minimum of 4 hours laying in soiled linens. This was my first time booking on Rover and I am extremely upset with the experience. Pets are children to me, so the service provided was unacceptable!

I do like the ability to set pricing (should be the norm for gigs / contracts). User interface is a mess for everyone and has too many bugs. For the level of app development, service and everything Rover provides I think their 20% cut is very, very, steep. Only insurance coverage provided for dog. Would be super helpful to have Google calendar plug in capabilities for scheduling.

It's getting there... There is no way to show a pending stay so you always show available unless you book it. And you don't always want to book it until you meet the client. So it's a mess, for 20% fee there should be a better user experience. When you select to give feedback the app directs you to FAQs page which makes it seem like Rover is uninterested in improvement of the app. There needs to be more options. And directing to decline a booking but not having the option isn't helpful.

I've been emailing technical support since Oct 9th about a software issue where this app doesn't have an "all the time" location tracking on Google Pixel 4a. And it's required for creating Rover Cards. Because of this problem, I can't create any Rover Cards for any of my daily walking clients or drop-ins. I have to manually track my walks using Google Fit, take screenshots, then update my client as a message. Also everyday, I have to email tech support with screenshots of every client walk to ensure I get paid. This is extremely frustrating and feeling pointless to use the software anymore since it doesn't work properly. Rover's support team isn't acknowledging a fix for my specific issue so what am I supposed to do?
