This is a great program, I'm glad that I have found it. Easy to set up. Its free. Covers all the retro systems I grew up with and more. A uniformed user interface, this make gaming on the phone painless. It has Touch controls and supports Hardware Controllers. Its is also cross platform, you can use this program on multiple devices. I play on my phone, but it can also be on a TV box, Pc, Raspberry Pi, etc.

  2. Harlea Maria-avatar

Pretty good, the only things that are missing is to be able to delete / install cores, having option topve the controllers to make it more personal and having it look like the actual control like for n64 maybe make it colorful and remove some buttons that isn't needed (like control would look like) other that I would recommend downloading it. I have no problem playing the games

  3. back udog-avatar

As emulators go, this is one of the best! Has run everything I've thrown at it no problems, great for retro gaming on your phone/tablet.

  4. Android fun-avatar

Pleas Add 6 button controller (most of the Sega and NES games need this), also 4way directional pad working only not the 360 one, so please fix this

  5. RayManta MantaRay-avatar

    RayManta MantaRay

Retroarch64 is phenomenal. It's a big improvement over the original, sure it's not perfect but it's the best of it's kind. Let's talk about some minor flaws: the search option doesn't work, on Atari 2600 games some of the controls doesn't work I suggest for each core, the controls change (ex. if you're playing an NES game there should only be the b and a button and the d pad) and deleting cores takes a longer process than necessary. That's all. Great emulator.

  6. Jake Simons-avatar

I was shocked by flawless cross-platform multiplayer capabilities of retroarch, didn't even know it was possible

  7. Justin Hallford-avatar

    Justin Hallford

Has it problems here and there, but the best hub for all your emulator needs. Lazy retarded people who cant think for themselves will be critical. If my 50 year old uncle can figure it out.......

  8. Lenny McLebby-avatar

Well, it has Cave Story and Doom on it so it would get 5 stars from me already. (To play these though, you have to download the files separately. A simple "___ Retroarch" will do the trick.) But that's not what this app advertises. I've had no problems playing arcade games such as Fantasy Zone II DX, and Genesis games like Alien Soldier and Thunder Force IV. However, maybe it's the cores or roms I downloaded, but I can't seem to get Sega CD games such as Sonic CD and Keio working.

  9. Bruhplays-avatar

Pretty good but the Dolphin plug in doesn't work for me. S 10+

  10. AetheralMeowstic-avatar

Game Cube roms crash every single time I try to play them. Before you even ask, yes, I'm using the Dolphin core, but RetroArch64 crashes every single time.

  11. Doug Budny-avatar

It would be nice to have a menu options to force landscape or portrait mode for the whole app. Some people have less than fully functional phones. I like RetroArch but can't really use it unless I can force it to landscape. Would give it 5 stars then.

Apps works amazing. Best way to learn how to properly use is YouTube. Love the ability to play old games in high definition. 1080p and 4k resolutions. Also love how it's all in one for all your favorite emulators. Emulations works perfectly.

  13. M. G.-avatar

Brilliant on PC, great on Android, the only issue I have is when I connect bluetooth controller (DS4) to mobile phone (Note8): the lag between input and reaction renders controller useless. Please fix.

  14. biln3-avatar

I can't get the Intellivision part to work, it just closes when i choose a game to play. The others work fine.

  15. Hayden Plumley-avatar

It used to be really great but nowadays it crashes when I select cores and go to different tabs hopefully it gets more stable so I can use it more often because I really like retroarch.

  16. Abu Bakar Khan-avatar

One stop for all the retro games and even few modern retro like psp and ps one emulation support but the only problem I face is to change overlay control of core each time I load my rom

  17. Benjamin Smith-avatar

So I've used emulators before, and nothing I've used comes close to this thing in quality, options and ease of use. It is simply incredible.

  18. Louis DePalma-avatar

Great compatibility and high configurability. Turned my phone into the ultimate emulation station! This replaced a full screen's worth of emulators for me and the systems I have configured are workinging very well.

  19. Lainey Face-avatar

Runs my games really well but it keeps forgetting my settings and key bindings which is making it really difficult to use.

  20. Cahyo Kusuma-avatar

I love this emulator so much..but please fix force close when i'll close psp game...i use asus zenfone max pro m2...thanks for your best emulator...

  22. Akshat Jain-avatar

Man!! Its mindblowing awesome superbly fantastic...Am just speechless that such a great emulator with so many settings and modification and terrific graphics ❤❤

  23. Joel Hernandez-avatar

I love this app because i can relieve my childhood and play classic games i love that you can change the controls to the console your playing on i gave this 5 stars cause this app is amazing

  24. David George-avatar

So good! I'm so glad you made the 64bit version available on Chromebooks.

  25. THIS IS SUPERIOR-avatar

Ppsspp core doesn't work good it gives glitches or even closes the app after i start ghost recon predetor I also happens with ps1 core. In epsxe and ppsspp runs best

  26. Chio Saephanh-avatar

Mame 2003-current controller reconfig crashes when i try to update the button assignments to work with the xbox one s controller. Please fix

Update 25/3/2020: everything now works after the update. Thank you

  29. Phoenix the II-avatar

Sucks on DeX. (Can't maximize) You're better off with individual emulators from around the internet too

  30. Liam Mania-avatar

The be all end all of retro gaming on the go (or on your PC and other devices!)

  31. Rexcel Oclarit-avatar

Some emulator like Dolphin will make the RetroArch suddenly close while Im loading the game

  32. Stuart Atkinson-avatar

    Stuart Atkinson

Great emulator but I would really like to be able to move the on screen settings like dragging the dpad and buttons around, along with dragging the screen to adjust. Would make DS games way easier to play since they span into the space where the controller is. Other than that, great emulator and I can't wait to see what other games it can play

  33. Lotus cola-avatar

huge list of problems, very ambitious

  34. nolan mods-avatar

The gui looks amazing... I wish they put as much time into the menus though.. not intuitive at all... very difficult to navigate. And dolphin keeps crashing.. I will just stick with all of my standalone emulators until they can figure this out...

  35. William Gee-avatar

Confusing and better out there The menus are so confusing, needs to be simplified. I just want to play Roms i don't want to be messing around for hours just to get it to work. When i manage to get the game running the sound is awful, and i can't seem to get it to work.

  36. David Tenser-avatar

Bug in recent build, not sure where to file a bug report: the on screen menu can't be hidden via the mapped controller hotkey combo. Retroarch is otherwise outstanding. Love that it connects and plays both on the TV (via USB C dongle) and directly on the mobile screen. It's perfect and allows you to switch between different modes depending on the situation and location. I wish mapping keys and changing settings were easier though. There's no way to reset an individual setting or clear a hotkey.

  37. Tridip R. Hazarika-avatar

    Tridip R. Hazarika

Love the concept but the UI is not optimised for touch input and it works best with a controller. E.g., touching a core will automatically download it and there are no additional buttons or confirmations (using the default menu driver meant for Android). While using an on-screen controller overlay works just fine, the UI needs to be more touch-friendly. I think that RetroArch is better on PC.

  38. Ethan Green-avatar

You've come a long way. I've watched this project since 0.7, when you still looked like something out of DOS and could only go up to the GBA at the most advanced. Now, you can play all the way up to the 3ds/Wii, and have per-core settings, network multiplayer, cover art, advanced shaders, and functional touch emulation

  39. Benjamin Salas-avatar

This app is amazing. I really enjoy having an all in one emulator on my phone its perfect for controller use. But my one problem is that I installed the ps4 format and I can only navigate through it with a controller. Touch screen with this format is impossible to navigate the app I hope you guys can fix this soon. Other than that and wanting some more cores this app is truly one of the best!

  40. Owen Smith-avatar

It's a bit techy-friendly ui, but that's not necessarily a bad thing... The over simplification of UI's is something I think is a pervasive problem. Still. A bit technical to set up could have an install wizard for what cores you'd like, if you have a gamepad, etc

  41. Surya Dila-avatar

I love this application. I installed it in my smartphone and laptop, I can play nostalgic games with my brother. Superb! I have a question. I download melonDS core but it cannot load any DS game. It is saying "failed to load content". Any solution for it?

  42. Kevin Reems-avatar

I tired all of the menu drivers and zero of them seemed to be written specifically for Android. The default driver kind of works but it's sluggish, clunky and doesn't conform to standards of the OS. It doesn't matter how good an app is under the hood if the UI stinks. Considering that all this is is a frontend I really don't see the point. I may check this again in a year or two because I like the concept.

  43. SIG7 Proficial-avatar

Well, I give it a 5 stars because it is a good emulator because lots of people like it, but it keeps on closing on first contact or a few seconds later plz help, on Samsung Chromebook

  44. Karl Milner-avatar

Recent bug that's affecting me, whenever I get an on screen notification, or exit out of the app. Retroarch crashes completely. This only happened in the latest update.

  45. Neil Messelmani-avatar

    Neil Messelmani

Crashes at launch, the regular version works fine though. I have the pocophone f1.

  46. Rogério Neves-avatar

I love this multi machine emulator, it's quick and intuitive, although I still need some help choosing the best cores and adding missing snapshots, the overall experience so far is very positive.

  47. Donny West-avatar

I love Retro Arch, both the concept & functionality are unmatched. This build is much better than the last... a few crashes here & there for the more CPU intensive games but much more playable! Keep up the great work!

  48. Garrett-avatar

I can't even upload ROMs. The scan feature only lets me scan inside the apps directory, not the phone storage. And yes I have the storage permission turned on.

  49. Lukely-avatar

This app is confusing as all hell. First of all, the interface is fugly and I couldn't even load a rom onto this damn thing. Unlike most people who download this, I have a life and am not a dithering geek who sits in front of a monitor all day.

  50. Jumpy Game-avatar

    Perfect, multiplatform and perfect

  51. Ben Not Here-avatar

As an experienced emulator user this is awesome.

  52. iday raD-avatar

Perfect, save time from installing different app to play different console. Maybe the app should be hide advanced ui options for the default settings, though.

  53. s0ulss h4x0r-avatar

Feature rich, awsome, a great all in 1 solution to emulation on android..

  54. Gio-avatar

Running a Pixel 3a. Works great with GBA games. App crashes when selecting GameCube games, even when preloading the Dolphin core.

  55. TheCuteSpider-avatar

I downloaded this because the original couldn't play Pokemon Diamond. It didn't change anything.

  56. AccuracyIsGone-avatar

Amazing application. It basically turns your Android device into a whole new gaming console

  57. Rebecca Stokes-avatar

I still have problems running this app on my new device but on my old device I still love this app I just guessing it's not compatible.🤔☺️👍🌹

  58. Ian Schorr-avatar

Crashes constantly, even before loading games

  59. Rajat Kumar-avatar

For being free its amazingly good. One of the best all around.

  60. Sahir Shaikh-avatar

  62. Rafi Muhammad-avatar

Please update desmume to get JIT working

  63. RZRREDD-avatar

Guys, if you don't know how to get games running properly, don't complain and insult the application and its users. That's on you if you waste your time on something you have no knowledge on.

  64. Franky Flowers-avatar

please allow for install on 64bit chromebook. i love the normal version of this app.

  65. Ayamalach-avatar

Excellent Emulator you just need an Excellent phone or tablet as well lol!!

    A.Reza T.Soltani

The interface is still complicated and it needs more modification. Different GUIs are not compatible with all phones. The inputs and overlays lag and the cores are crashing sometimes. The instructions are not accessible through the menu. However, this is almost the only app in google play to gather such various retro consoles in one place.

  69. Abdulrahman Alhagri-avatar

    Abdulrahman Alhagri

A must for emulators users. Thank you RA developers. 👍

  70. Pete Fury-avatar

    Great all-in-one emulator!

  71. Adarsh Nagrale-avatar

Oh man😑! NDS core lags on assassin Creed game😬, PS2 core don't opens my tomb raider game😫, the dolphin Wii/GameCube core crashes after opening crash bandicoot game😭, the squirrel Java core don't opens my games😵, it needed something else called summer coot rom😦, I prefer standalone emulators😃! Guys don't waste your time here😁! I also don't like giving bad reviews!😊 Please do some extra work on 6th generation console cores(Emulators)🙏, and make them playable on low specification phones!

  72. SUPERMEGAB1Z B1Z-avatar

This program is free, no ads, works with almost every controller I have (minus the PS3 controller because I don't root). If we could get a fullspeed PCSX2 and No$GBA port onto this hub, then I'm sold, as this is by far the best mobile retro experience I've had. Now... If we could just get a working WLAN VM in some of these programs...

  73. Jhet-avatar

So far, i'm loving it! I love this app. It makes me don't install a lot of other emulators because i can just play here all the emulators i want to play. Thanks for creating this app! Just one thing, can u add more graphic settings?? If yes then i'll be happy about that!

  74. Jose Arce-avatar

Best emulator over all. If you dont want to have many apps for the same this is it. Some other apps are simpler but this beats everything by doing everything

  75. James Johnson-avatar

A huge curve of setup than just loading rom. Also there's bug where when no matter what position my phone is in, going from portrait to landscape or vice versa , the screen goes black. Only way to get the screen back is to tap recent apps button and reselect RetroArch. Annoying...

  76. Sowmya Ranjan Nayak-avatar

    Sowmya Ranjan Nayak

confusing as hell...interface is all geecky.

  77. Katherin Brown-avatar

Once you get it all tweaked and set up it's honestly great, but the learning curve to get there is quite extreme and then even still things will still just randomly crash at times for no apparent reason even in the app menu itself. Some instructions could definitely be provided to be more user friendly and some bug fixing is for sure in order.

  78. Román Rodríguez-avatar

    Román Rodríguez

This is so confusing and complicated to use. I can't even load a save state because it just keeps creating other ones and I can't go back to the first state. Maybe you should try Lemuroid instead, it's so much easier and simpler to use.

  79. D-avatar

    1.8.4 keeps crashing.

  80. Chiến Đinh Lê-avatar

    Chiến Đinh Lê

The menus could use a little work but overall RetroArch has been my go to emulation heaven for years. My only complaint is that the 64 bit cores seem to crash me back to the main menu. Outside of that this is my favorite. Kudos Libretro!!!

  81. Jia Yuan Lo-avatar

Although this "thing" tries to shoehorn every emulation solution out there, it kind of complex to use, physical Back button does not work, melonDS often fails to recognise titles to load, but really appreciate there's this "thing" available on Android

  82. Anon R-avatar

When playing on android I notice there's a sensitivity problem with when you want to save slot(GBA) It just skip right to main menu, maybe add a delay when the retro symbol was pressed so no double tap happen?

  83. Joe Drew-avatar

This is the best emulator to have on your phone for an array of games!! The only problem I ran into is that when I play a PSX game that uses the select button on the controller my PS4 controller is rendered useless, as the share button nor the touchpad act as a select button!! I don't have a different bluetooth controller, and I absolutely HATE touchscreen controls!! Could you please fix this??

  84. Ben Kress-avatar

Emulation all in one place on android = amazing. Great job to the devs! but, not being able to load roms stored on an external otg usb is a no go for me. the file browser sees no external devices crippling you to your internal storage. for gaming... this is highly unfavorable. Unfortunately, this is a google problem, not a Libetro one and will likely not be fixed so device manufacturers can force you to buy the larger storage option when buying new phones. I do however, feel there could be a workaround for this... Some apps support NTFS without the need for additional apps. Any chance we will see this integration in the future?

  85. William Bowen-avatar

Would be great if it didn't constantly crash and not be so buggy. Takes forever to get things setup properly. Many menu options at least.

  86. dean luna-avatar

Possibly one if not the greatest emulator app in mobile. Finally able to play the fantastic OpenLara offline. There are a couple of hiccups in the UI but nothing major.

  87. The Nickle-avatar

A great multi-console emulator that is awesome for playing older systems on the go. From my experience, games from my childhood (SNES, NES, GB, GBA, MD) run flawlessly depending on the emulator. The aforementioned systems require very little tweaking to emulate. However, some emulators crash with no reason given. And this can be frustrating if you want to run games quickly without any hiccups. Some emulators require a bios. It would be perfect if the app could ask for that before proceeding.

  88. aibi 0608-avatar

It was hard how to use it at first but after watching and reading countless guides from previous users you get the hang of it, though there are some that aren't compatible depends on what device you use. I would love to see and play a ps2 engine within this emulator. Nonetheless, this is one of the best emulators to use by far.

  89. curran parker-avatar

Emulators like dolphin and play work better without it

  90. daniel evans-avatar

This app is fantastic as we can have all our emulation needs in just one place. I havnt encountered many issues and usually things just work however I can't get the dolphin core to work whatever I do. I have downloaded the required files from your site and I believe I put them in the right place (retroarch/system), but everytime I run something the app just crashes. I have oneplus 6. Other than that it works great with many other major cores and it's a really nice app when set up correctly.

  91. Human-avatar

Basically, this emu are great can play many of different emu but its not optimized as one emulator and then the setting are make me feel confused

  92. nxyh dila-avatar

interface is aggressively terrible. core loading menu does not allow for scrolling without selecting items, and if you load one by accident there is no option to uninstall. it also reloads blindly, but if your connection is not metered this is a minor annoyance. most apps allow you to use back button to, well, go back. not so here. but it DOES work.

  93. Matt Kasdorf-avatar

Having some issues with a Note9 on Android 8.1.0: •Screen rotation blanks out the screen, will do so when starting in portrait or landscape... have to hit the power button to get the screen back. •Downloading the large MAME thumbnails zip file crashed app dropping me back to the app store, where I started it.

  94. Insta-avatar

Great port of RetroArch...Almost. It has some major quirks in the way it handles touch input, all ranging from the on-screen gamepad disappearing at random to the overlays being hit or miss. I'd strongly recommend it if you have a wireless gamepad or on-device gamepad, though, if not for its XMB UI then for its features.

  95. Fahmi Anwar-avatar

Everything is great except for the control layout. It supposedly launch games in landscape mode, but it launch in portrait mode (with landscape control layout). The rotate button doesn't work, it only works for the control layout. Saving a state also make the game stopped working. 4/10 almost unplayable

  96. Cine Emote-avatar

Wonderful emulator, works very well with most games. That being said, it has problems with Non-Nintendo platforms, especially with changing the overlay controls. Even with the NDS emulator, there are many issues. But other than that, my only suggestion would be to add a turbo button. Great work.

  97. Thomas Terranova-avatar

    Thomas Terranova

Incredibly ambitious project that does so much. I hope it can continue to evolve, eventually adding even more emus (ti-99/4a maybe?) & perhaps auto-config ability where u simply choose a rom & it auto-loads needed core (based on file type), guesses best core version for ur device, grabs art for that rom if needed, etc. i still can't get amiga games to work on Android w/ either version of retroarch, but it's probably due to my own ignorance so i'll look 4 a guide. Thanks for all your hard work.

  98. Lulu DeBlanca-avatar

after loading a rom, cant access config to change settings with an onscreen button or use back button to stop or pause. also, default file ext filter is broken. the libretro emu code is good which is why its so weird that the android app cant just make the config frontend work and auto detect the filetypes and cores and unzip on the fly, maintain a library, etc. i still dont know how to get the onscreen buttons normal. i guess its an engaging open source project that could use some help. haha

This is one of the finest projects i have encountered when it comes to emulating old games. Retroarch is can be difficult to fully utilize but when you master all its functionality you will be blown away with what this can do to enhance your gaming experiance. This app always had better shader support than any other emulator and it has been ported to every system imaginable. I can only say thank you for your hard work.

Really getting a lot of use out of this when I'm on the go
