RetroArch is an open-source project that makes use of a powerful development interface called Libretro. Libretro is an interface that allows you to make cross-platform applications that can use rich features such as OpenGL, cross-platform camera support, location support, and more in the future.

This is a special 64bit version of RetroArch, for those with 64bit capable devices! Not only will you notice several cores being significantly faster with this release (such as Beetle PSX), some cores actually require a 64bit version of RetroArch, such as Dolphin.

Of course, it is totally possible to have both the 32bit and 64bit versions of RetroArch installed at the same time. There might be specific cores that run better on 32bit and vice versa, such as PCSX ReARMed. There will be more information to come on our Libretro Documentation site later on.

Reviews From google play store

After game is loaded, onscreen overlay (a,b,x,y, start, select, etc...) does not appear on my device (Meizu M3 Max)

Ultimate emulator backend for every console out there ...easy to configure ...very well supported ...interface is very basic

Pointless app, doesn't work

Its wonky, but working with great progress. You can't beat the price for a modern M.A.M.E. interface on a mobile device. The UI control logic is horrendous, but beyond the learning curve manages to produce feasible results. [non-intuitive, needs menu controls introduction/guide]

Thank you! It's awesome!

This emulator's Database checking feature is what turns me off about this emulator, it won't show certain games like DKC, and because of that, It's not an emulator I could recommend.

It's a bit techy-friendly ui, but that's not necessarily a bad thing... The over simplification of UI's is something I think is a pervasive problem. Still. A bit technical to set up could have an install wizard for what chores you'd like, if you have a gamepad, etc

My current MAME app stopped working properly with game controller after I updated phone to android 10. So I moved on to retroarch. Still tweaking it but with time i will have it working 100%

I downloaded marvel super heroes but it didn't support it

I don't know guys, this stuff seems copy pasted hard from linux version. Streched ui everytime the screen auto rotate, back button non functional, messed up screen dpi and ratio... It's good on desktop, but here? Sorry to say, but it incomplete hot garbage. Oh, and months without update, it's abandoned.

onscreen controlls are horrible in sense that you cant visually remove or customize layout.

Good emulation but could do with a smaller controller lay out as it's a bit big.

Works great

So far so game. Except the game cube part doesn't work

Retroarch is a good idea in theory but in practice it's a convoluted clunky mess. I'd go with standalone emulators, this is way too fiddly.

Ridiculously horrid menu. Insanely imbecilic. If you have 1000s of games good luck scrolling through them as the scroll feature is retarded and there is no alphabetical navigation. I can't believe people who built such an app couldn't make scrolling decent. On top of that just clicking once will start loading a core whether you expect it or not, you know what I mean. Most unintuitive menu award goes to this app.

Controls -10/10. They are all the same for even NES games which makes pressing B a pain.

YMMV. Steep learning curve, but powerful when set up. anything you don't like can be changed in settings. runs PlayStation and n64 games like a champ

I tried playing Jojo: heritage for the future on it but it doesn't have any arcade overlays that work for the game.

Great emulator, difficult to set up and use

Still great aside from a few crashes probably down to how much RAM I have

This is a great emulating application frontend for all systems that android can currently run (except maybe citra). I am having a problem where when I rotate my phone from landscape to portrait, the menus are messed up.

title has fixed width. crash on screen rotate. no search function. no way to pause or stop scanning

Does not work with Android 9. Screen rotation blacks out the screen with no way to back out.

I could not get my controllers to work with this at all. 32 bit seems fine.

The interface is really incredibly awful. Words cannot describe how useless the interface is. If you manage to load a game, the app works really well, but it's not possible to change settings.

Well I just downloaded dolphin core and tried to play Loz Twilight princess (which I already can play on the dolphin app) but here, it just crashed

When i install this app and press load core it fails (displaying "downloading cores: task failed") on both 32 and 64 bit version of this app. can someone guide me on this? It used to work before now it does not work

Please insert a option where the display is fitted in screen, 16:9, or immersive mode,

Great emulator and controls. Poor navigation. Can you please add a search window? Edit: Controls get messed up during auto rotate. Need to refresh them Everytime Some of the NDS games were buggy ended up installing Drastic which is great.

User interface is absolute trash on phones, okay for TV.

It's really powerful but it needs a few changes. For example the directories. It's in a root folder by default but it can be easily changed by editing the retroarch.cfg file located in Android\Data\com.retroarch.aarch64 Edit: Looks like they fixed the directory issue. Keep up the great work!

I want this to work but dolphin keeps crashing when trying to load through retroarch.

A great multi-console emulator that is awesome for playing older systems on the go. From my experience, games from my childhood (SNES, NES, GB, GBA, MD) run flawlessly depending on the emulator. The aforementioned systems require very little tweaking to emulate. However, some emulators crash with no reason given. And this can be frustrating if you want to run games quickly without any hiccups. Some emulators require a bios. It would be perfect if the app could ask for that before proceeding.

Would have given 5 stars, but there are issues with landscape/portrait views as well as using a bluetooth controller. When using controller, it is hard to do away with the onscreen buttons.

loving the emulator. longtime fan of it. however the cheats UI needs to be MUCH more mobile friendly - would like to be able to enter codes manually.

it is not working retroarch64

it runs the games well however, the menu requires two things. the first thing the menu requires is save changes button the second thing it needs is a load previous set up button

Everything is great except for the control layout. It supposedly launch games in landscape mode, but it launch in portrait mode (with landscape control layout). The rotate button doesn't work, it only works for the control layout. Saving a state also make the game stopped working. 4/10 almost unplayable

I love how many emulators it can support.

great framework for emulation, thank you everyone working on libretro and all the emulators available for it

I only have a complaint with the n64 overlay, the A button does not work when I'm playing games. if someone can help me with that or fix it I would be happy

Not compatible with SHIELD TV, which is 64bit! What a shame!

love it

Force close when.. -change resolution -change input on dolphin core -save state/load state on psp core i really love this app, its very smooth in every core i try even a wii game.

This is one of the finest projects i have encountered when it comes to emulating old games. Retroarch is can be difficult to fully utilize but when you master all its functionality you will be blown away with what this can do to enhance your gaming experiance. This app always had better shader support than any other emulator and it has been ported to every system imaginable. I can only say thank you for your hard work.

crashes when loading iso ganes which works on the dolphin emulator so its an isuse with RetroArch

Gud emulator but bad ui

too complicated :/

can you add 18:9 ratio?

interface is aggressively terrible. core loading menu does not allow for scrolling without selecting items, and if you load one by accident there is no option to uninstall. it also reloads blindly, but if your connection is not metered this is a minor annoyance. most apps allow you to use back button to, well, go back. not so here. but it DOES work.

Everything worked fine until the app started crashing on launch.

free emulator with no ads takes a while to set up but working

the most bad n hard ui ever, hard to understand the function n hard to navigate, there's no customization in touch pad, this emulator is only for expert user

great program.. easy to use.. i just love it.. keep updating and enhanced this great emulator..

really love this app and the games run smoothly as well

Unfortunately crashes a lot when turning up volume or just trying to launch something

64bit version of retroarch has some bugs. on my note 8 (android 9 pie) if i press the volume button on the phone while playing a game, it crashes retroarch. this does not happen on the 32 bit version or on a friends note 8 using android 8.

Extremely hard to use

Incredibly ambitious project that does so much. I hope it can continue to evolve, eventually adding even more emus (ti-99/4a maybe?) & perhaps auto-config ability where u simply choose a rom & it auto-loads needed core (based on file type), guesses best core version for ur device, grabs art for that rom if needed, etc. i still can't get amiga games to work on Android w/ either version of retroarch, but it's probably due to my own ignorance so i'll look 4 a guide. Thanks for all your hard work.

little bit hard to use & not user friendly

Absolutely amazing app

Refuse to give a good rating to these people just for porting over good coding from other people and slapping it behind the most unintuitive, terrible gui I've ever had to deal with on android. This is the best if you are choosy about things like accuracy on older stuff but seriously just use a frontend if you dont want to waste huge amounts of time configuring every single game with every system only still to have the garbage on screen display and menu ruin the experience.

nyc apps

just app is so great you can have every console all one in app

it's amazing but can you add more emulators( ps2, GameCube, Xbox)

This is the best emulator to have on your phone for an array of games!! The only problem I ran into is that when I play a PSX game that uses the select button on the controller my PS4 controller is rendered useless, as the share button nor the touchpad act as a select button!! I don't have a different bluetooth controller, and I absolutely HATE touchscreen controls!! Could you please fix this??

UI just horrible.

Abysmal UI.

Definitely a great application. A bit complicated but once you get the hang of it it works perfectly!

Awesome, bug change icon XMB mode,i hope future ps2 support.

bro all this features but sucks on the design and navigation ui.tell me why I wanna go to the top left corner button for just to go back.make no sense android already have back key so yeah fix

scroll screen could be better, how to remove installed core?

A one stop shop for everything, a bit hard to understand setting it up but there's plenty of guides out there.

Nice way to play mGBA on my phone. Lacks a couple system specific niceties but makes up for it with the overall quantity of emulators available.

keeps crashing

Emulation all in one place on android = amazing. Great job to the devs! but, not being able to load roms stored on an external otg usb is a no go for me. the file browser sees no external devices crippling you to your internal storage. for gaming... this is highly unfavorable. Unfortunately, this is a google problem, not a Libetro one and will likely not be fixed so device manufacturers can force you to buy the larger storage option when buying new phones. I do however, feel there could be a workaround for this... Some apps support NTFS without the need for additional apps. Any chance we will see this integration in the future?

u must add ps2 cores and the GZdoom core to the RetroArch list.

Impressed with these programmers. I honestly hope they have good paying jobs. To achieve this level of emulation is stunning. They should however take advantage of the amount of users and use it as a consumer experience and improve on it based on those results. Consumers are not into forums that's kinda old-school. I expect programmers to be old_school but imagine you could marry the two. This would be a living brand. Basically I'm saying this is not living upto it's potential. Awsome software.

the original retroarch appb works flawlessly for me but for whatever reason, this version can't run anything at all! Either i get a black screen or the game runs at an unplayable framerate. I'm using a note 9 so I'm kinda surprised that i couldn't get anything to work.

after loading a rom, cant access config to change settings with an onscreen button or use back button to stop or pause. also, default file ext filter is broken. the libretro emu code is good which is why its so weird that the android app cant just make the config frontend work and auto detect the filetypes and cores and unzip on the fly, maintain a library, etc. i still dont know how to get the onscreen buttons normal. i guess its an engaging open source project that could use some help. haha

RetroArch on my pc. RetroArch on my phone. Lakka(RetroArch) on my pi. RetroArch on my cat..oh wait.

live and love retro games this app does it best..

there is no 3DS engine even after i check online update for core engine.

kind blurry but ok

Very nice emulator

doesnt remember my settings, randomly locks up, suddenly stops properly recognizing my xbox one controller and either repeats inputs too many times or doesnt pick them up. attempted to use this on a galaxy note 9.

Everything wrong with standard RA, plus the added problem of older games ony displaying in 16:9 regardless of settings. RA on desktop is a 10/10 experience. It's not worth your time on mobile.

This app is fantastic as we can have all our emulation needs in just one place. I havnt encountered many issues and usually things just work however I can't get the dolphin core to work whatever I do. I have downloaded the required files from your site and I believe I put them in the right place (retroarch/system), but everytime I run something the app just crashes. I have oneplus 6. Other than that it works great with many other major cores and it's a really nice app when set up correctly.

Works good but can't be installed on Shield TV without sideloading, hope this is fixed soon.

What a nice idea? You have really tried. You have got talent so keep it up Man!

It was hard how to use it at first but after watching and reading countless guides from previous users you get the hang of it, though there are some that aren't compatible depends on what device you use. I would love to see and play a ps2 engine within this emulator. Nonetheless, this is one of the best emulators to use by far.
