The Quest is a beautifully hand-drawn open world role playing game with old school grid-based movement and turn based combat.

In the kingdom of Monares trouble is brewing. The governor of Freymore is missing and the island is in tumult. The mages all prophesy a dark shadow looming over the safety of the kingdom. As an Agent of the king, it's your job to find out what is happening and avert any danger.

Choose from five customizable races and an array of skills, weapons, armor and enchantments, and explore a huge world of four cities and a wilderness of mountains, caves, lakes and forests – full of mystery, magic and intriguing challenges. Meet the many inhabitants, each with its own agenda and attitude towards your character. Some will be helpful, some greedy or lascivious or just plain mean. You will have many choices, including some that may place you against the law, along your way to the dramatic ending of your own choosing.

Key Features:

- Pursue a long and dramatic main story and solve many optional side quests.

- Create a highly customizable character and cast dazzling spells, enchant powerful items, concoct potent potions and persuade people to further your goals.

- Discover an open world with interesting locales, day/night cycle, weather, fascinating people, dangerous creatures, readable books, pick-able locks, repairable items, houses that can be broken into, dungeons, traps and much more.

- Play an absorbing card game with three different decks, accessible at the inns.

Great game. The only problem I'm experiencing is being unable to connect to Google. When I tried that I was forced to uninstall the game and repurchase it. This happened three times on two different systems (my phone and my chromebook). Just a warning in case anyone tries. Edit: Now that I can enchant, I wish I could see the number of points equipment has before I buy or sell something. And the ability to lock items so I don't accidentally sell them.

  2. Fifi izzasecret-avatar

I have bought all the expansions. I love it so much!! :D Basically Daggerfall with Game of Thrones esque jokes. Yes, that means there is a lot of misogyny, but I let that slide since you can indeed play as a female. Meaning that the sexism is only from the characters, not the developers. All in all, a mostly great game. 4.5 stars.

  3. Jackson Hendrix-avatar

    Jackson Hendrix

This is one of the best rpgs I've ever played, computer, mobile or otherwise. Beautiful world, tons of quests, thoughtful combat, and it does not shy away from mature content like sex and murder where so many newer games skew toward juvenile themes. If you like old school rpgs or D&D this game is a must-play.

  4. Trey Herrera-avatar

Excellent old-school RPG that works very well on mobile. Only complaint is the lack of support for resolutions higher than 1080p (there are black bars on my 1440p display, still perfectly playable)

  5. Daniel Ryslink-avatar

Nice game, but half-baked execution. For example, no way to redefine keys on tablets with keyboard. Left and right arrows are mapped on relatively useless sidesteps, while no key turns your character 90 degrees. If there were keys for all move actions, attack, cast spell and open inventory, the game would be playable, but this way.... what a missed chance.

  6. Josef Szuts-avatar

Fantastic and worth the money. Thank you Redshift for remastering the entire series! I can't imagine how painstaking it was, but you did it.

  7. Nick Mansfield-avatar

This game is great! Played it back in like 2009 maybe 2010 on an itouch glad they brought it back with the expansions i bought all 14! Hope to see this series continue you will have my money and support!

  8. Ryan Haskins-avatar

My favorite mobile game ever, was even an alpha tester back in the day 😅 but my only problem is, every time I open the pause menu to save, it crashes): this happens with every expansion too):

  9. okjacob-avatar

You pay a lot and you get unending content. I run it on my Chromebook and it feels fantastic. Great story, very tabletopesque.

  10. Liam Haines-avatar

Third time buying the game in my life, bought all the expansions as well. Look forward to playing this amazing game again would recommend to anyone

  11. Charles Falconer-avatar

Crashes when using the red back arrow in game. Hangs at the Google Play Games login. Only works with GBoard. Very buggy.

  12. Peter Miller-avatar

The single greatest grid based rpg on the store. There is nothing else like it and deserves a place in any rpg fans collection.

  13. Hunty-avatar

Game keeps crashing. (Edit). That option was turned off already.

  14. Brandon Burdette-avatar

    Brandon Burdette

Phenomenal. So much depth, and so much nostalgia. It feels like an old D&D PC game, but has as much depth and open world-ness as the latest Elder Scrolls game. I've been playing The Quest and it's expansions since about 2008 when it was an iPhone exclusive. I still haven't seen everything there is to be seen, or done everything there is to do.

  15. Shawn Wilburn-avatar

It's stuck on trying to sign into Google Play Games...

  16. Robert Cuck-avatar

Great old school rpg. If you enjoyed the old crpgs from the mid 90s then this is right up your alley. Only difference is you control a single character instead of a party. There are great adventures to be had and it's interesting to see different dialogue choices depending on race, fame, and persuasion skill of your character. Lots of fun and good role playing

  17. Kasper Ring-avatar

Absolutely love it. It's extremely Daggerfall like. You can shape your character to completely suit your play style (I.e. plate wearing mage with a 2h sword), travel the world in no particular order and decide whether you wanna be good or evil on your own. Magic isn't as open ended as Daggerfalls insane system was, but you can enchant your gear with a ton of different effects, again to boost your particular play style.

  18. Steven Plumlee-avatar

I just hate the walking controls so much... and I'm forcing myself to endure playing forward in hopes I'll get into it since Google wouldn't let me refund. Also, these stupid archers run behind bushes that I cant walk through but they can shoot through... And when those archers turn left or right and run behind bushes in a highly bushy area... The stress levels of running into bushes I'm being shot through with the difficulty of controlling direction.. I wanted to refund.

  19. Jerry French-avatar

Great old-school RPG. Reminds me of my 1990s days playing Elder Scrolls & Daggerfall. Well worth the price!

  20. Joshua Wiggins-avatar

A great game, that is, if I could download it, I have super speed internet too, ok finally got it, was the olaystore itself, I've played this game before , bought it, and now buying it on my new account, just because it's a good rpg

  21. A Google user-avatar

Love these, but was wondering if the entire classic series could be ported from iphone to android some time in the future. I miss Calimanton battles on the beach and desert. Dragon Jade too!

  22. Stephanie Mullendore-avatar

    Stephanie Mullendore

It follows old school FPS RPG structure like Arena or Might and Magic. Must BUYl!!!

  23. W Sharpnack-avatar

Very nice rouge RPG. Good graphics, story & gameplay. Perfect for on the go play. Looking forward to continuing on with the expansions.

  24. Chris Via-avatar

Awesome. Can you make it full screen for the Stylo 5? I love this game. Thanks.

  25. anthony meagher-avatar

    anthony meagher

Excellent all round. Love the card game in the pubs especially

  26. Jesse Lawson-avatar

Its an incredible pain in the ass waiting for monsters to respawn. Ruins the game before your even 2 hours in.

  27. Giuseppe Stasi-avatar

Great game, stands up even with dated graphics

  28. Glynner Me-avatar

Good, but it didnt hook me like I thought it would.

  29. Kevin Slechta-avatar's bananas that this game is 13 years old! It's a call back to the PC rpg games of the 90's and a really good one at that! You pretty much have an Elder Scrolls game in your phone here! The updated graphics looks great on new phones and it is awesome that you can play is in portrait mode! There's a lot of expansions which I will buy, hopefully they go on sale because there's a lot!

  30. Sung Rhie-avatar

Excellent Fps dungeon crawler. Has months of playtime if you have the expansions. The expansions are getting hard to manage so could you guys please make something with all the expansions together? I have them all

  31. Dan Katz-avatar

Goddamn it, I love this game since I played it on my iPaq all those years ago. Eight? Was epic then as it is now. When I bought my first android phone at 2011 I remember searching in candles for games like the quest for Android and getting disappointed again and again. Sure, games today are better than before, but I doubt anything can match the quest. 10 stars!!

  32. I L-avatar

Great game, but doesn't support 21:9 widescreen phones. I have a xperia 5 and it has extra long screen, the game sadly doesn't fill the screen. I think it worked before, but it doesn't work now :(

  33. Zasben-avatar

I see a lot of heart went into this and I respect that. From books, quests, and just the RP element. Although the game wasnt my cup of tea, I still feel it's fair to give this game this rating. P.S. Guards dont care about you. I had 2 enemy Archers and an Orc on me, ran back to town, and they just camped the entrance next to the guard, and the archers were shooting me when I was in the middle of town. I tried sleeping and they just camped the entrance. Kind of crappy on that part.

  34. Sean P-avatar

I'm loving this game. I bought it for android and pc. The gameplay is simple. The quests are simple yet challenging at the sametime. You have to think outside the box a little bit. It's a little overwhelming when you first start especially if you are used to more modern rpgs. The game seems to have a decent following and has some good forums to read and learn how the game works. The world is well laid out. it is small but there are a ton of expansions you can buy.Not sure what those are like yet

  35. Remington D-avatar

A recall to the days of Daggerfall, might and magic, and similar grid style RPGs, this is the best rpg the mobile platform has to offer. The artist did a fantastic job with the sprites, and believe it or not the game is incredibly immersive. The side quests are varied and memorable, and the main quest is quite long. combined with what looks like a ton of dlc content, you really cant go wrong if you like this style of game. I know I'd buy it again.

  36. Grand Tao Mao-avatar

Great game reminds me of playing old console rpg games only with better graphics and portability making it more fun. Although a controller would make it more engaging if you can put down the phone and play at the prefered distance your comfortable not to mention touching on screen arrows can be confusing sometimes. Hope the expansions go on sale or in bundle pack discount.

  37. Mash-avatar

After giving "The Quest" a second chance after refunding it about a year ago it has now turned into one of my favorites. To think this was developed originally for devices prior to android and iPhones (I think) is surprising as well. Lastly this game was literally the reason I bought a tablet which makes everything so much smoother, to the devs, thx, I'll be trying fire and ice shortly.

  38. Jeff R-avatar

A really great and immersive old school rpg. I was a little put off by the controls and still find them "slightly" clunky. Now the good... the game doesn't drain my battery and runs very nicely on my Asus ROG phone. There is enough story here to keep you entertained for months. Battle is fun for a first person 2D rpg. The sound is excellent, no noticeable high pitched noise with headphones. For an Android game this one is really 5*. I will definitely be grabbing the expansions! Great job devs!

  39. Metit Four-avatar

I remember playing the classic version on my iPod touch years ago, and I really liked the classic graphics and compressed music, so I was very hesitant on getting the remastered version....but THIS, ladies and gentleman, THIS is EXACTLY how you do remasters of your games. It still holds that essence of The Quest that I adored in 2012, and the graphics are lovingly painted just as they were back then. Redshift are awesome as they always are. Thank you guys, I genuinely hope for the best of you.

  40. S Limon-avatar

i just got this game but my first impression: it seems like a fun game. though i havent progressed very far (yet), the story seems interesting and it seems like theres a good variety of classes and playstyles. It would be nice if the game had a tutorial...i was a bit lost/confused before i figured out how to access the questlog. the controls are okay but far from ideal and could do with some tweaking. as others have pointed out, it would be nice if this game supported controllers and gamepads

  41. Adam Gallichon-avatar

A very well made and accessible adventure that evokes some classic RPGs. It reminded me of Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall but was still down to earth enough to actually finish the game and not get lost struggling with controls. I also loved that you could play in either portrait or landscape modes. Admittingly the combat got a little stale by the end, but as a sword and shield character it was expected. Thankfully magic wands let you mix and match spells without having to redo your character.

  42. Miles Crowson-avatar

I luv how this game has been brought to the Android app!! I bought this game on Steam expecting to play it eventually, but I saw it on Android and didn't want to wait. This game speaks to my gaming soul. I've even used its links to find & print the lost docs. I can't find anything wrong here. This is an absolute dream, thank you!!

  43. Tom Christ-avatar

I remember this game from 10 years ago in my iPhone. It came out before you were bombarded with ads and update demands and were required to be constantly connected. It's a much more authentic old school PC RPGs experience than anything I have seen on a phone, and more elder scrolls like than even elder scrolls blades. I love this game.

  44. Jean-Marc Therrien-avatar

    Jean-Marc Therrien

Old school crawler goodness! First got this game on my Iphone 3G and now years later an updated version on my Android phone! Vast open world with plenty of stuff to do but with no hand holding. You'll need to search and look by yourself. Lots of wikis online if your lost though. For the price it's THE best rpg you can get on your phone. There's also a lot of expansions to keep the game going for hours and hours! Also check 9th Dawn 1 and 2 if you like RPG's.

  45. ClassicalXD-avatar

This is a must have for Android - THE best game on the Android market. I had the old version of The Quest on the IOS and unlike the old version this doesn't have many add-ons which is a let down but hopefully they will make more! Also heres a free hint for experienced players: Rush to Mithria after making new character and cast mark, then create a wand with create food to make money, with that money buy all the training from every shop then tele back to Matras and you'll have a strong character!

  46. Olivier-avatar

This game is simply a gem in a sea of mediocrity. It reminds me of the old point and click RPGS I played on my floppy disks computer, but with much better video contents! I've been playing 85 days (days in the game), and I think I'm close to the end. I HOPE NOT! 😉😁

  47. Bradley Fite-avatar

great game for android. I havent been able to put it down! so much nostalgia. the only (minor) issue is player navigation. nothing to stress over, sometimes I find myself spinning when i try to strafe. I recommend this to anyone looking for a genuine rpg on the go, or of you're sitting at the house. great old school game.

  48. BigDrop EyeHaveAutism-avatar

    BigDrop EyeHaveAutism

I felt like I was playing Elder Scrolls Arena a game which came out in 1994 for Dos. This game I think takes inspiration from that and does an amazing job doing so in my opinion. This is by far I think is the greatest rpg app game I have ever played and still do play it.

  49. robert griscik-avatar

I experience stutering of movement when outside of town, since I cannot refund for the 2nd time, Ill keep the game in library for when I'll have a stronger device, the atmosphere of the game is good, it reminds of the oldschool games. I have a Xiaomi Redmi 5.

  50. Omar Sastre-avatar

Oldschool, Not Grindy, Actually Fun to Play instead of Free to Play. A game that takes inspiration from TES and Ravenloft. You can spend a few minutes or a few hours playing and it will still feel rewarding all the same.

  51. Sad Lemon-avatar

Although I do miss the classic graphics, this game is still by and far the best experience in mobile games. So much to do, so much to try. If you're a fan of classic TES style games then you'll love this.

  52. Jimmy Wallace-avatar

Great open world rpg. I plan to start the 1st expansion.

  53. Matt Clark-avatar

Currently having a bug with my Samsung galaxy s8 Plus where my keyboard won't come up. all I get is a number pad. Kinda disappointed that my character will have to be named 007 lol. other than that, so far so good!

  54. Kimberly Mayhan-avatar

    Kimberly Mayhan

I played this game a lot on my Pocket PC, oh so many years ago. I'm enjoying it even more on my android tablet. It also works well on my phone. I'm slowly working my way through the expansions. Keep up the great work!

  55. BroadbandLink Gaming-avatar

    BroadbandLink Gaming

Fantastic rpg! Reminds me of old school might and magic. Great game. I'm Really enjoying it! I love how you can pick your skills any play the game how ever you want!

  56. ZeriyaGaming-avatar

Amazing game with fantastic art work! Lots of mechanics and pretty decent sized world. Game crashes when trying to save which causes me to lose progress but just save more often. Wish there was an option to stop gplay sync so offline play is easier.

  57. Alexis Hétu-avatar

Great game, lengthy, with plenty of expansions to keep playing for a long time. One note: the "enable screenshot (for save)" option makes the game crash, so don't enable it!

  58. Michael Danhauer-avatar

    Michael Danhauer

Great game that unfortunately crashes regularly on my phone. It occurs when certain dialogue options are chosen. Usually unique quest dialouges. Pretty much makes it unplayable, but I'll try in the future on a newer device.

  59. Kenneth B-avatar

the I only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I'm having issues with the keyboard only allowing numbers in certain instances, but other than that, great game

  60. Hobo Timmy-avatar

Great game that brings me back to my old Amiga days. Worth the cash. Very deep character evolving. Top marks!

  61. James Berrow-avatar

Great old school rpg. Has some flaws but overall a great story line and playability. It is definitely worth the money paid.

  62. phonella-avatar

Great old-style RPG game that plays wonderfully on my tablet in both aspect ratios. And I'm totally immersed the minute I load the game.

  63. MrRoboBrain-avatar

brings back the old days. Great game, it is great to bring it to android, and paying for it is proper way to say thank you to developers :)

  64. Zane Edwards-avatar

Loved this game for years, only thing I'd love to see is some sort of system to collect some of your arrows after a fight.

  65. Aric Rusk-avatar

Always was a fan of this RPG series since its initial release on the iPod touch. Im still waiting on The Quest Gold release and maybe a collective DLC release. Overall fantastic artwork and story line.

  66. Gilbert Franco-avatar

This is an amazing game. Resembles the old Ultima games muxed with the good Elder Scroll games. I loose track of time when I play this game.

  67. John M-avatar

Well new phone 30 gb free took 10 downloads to get it working on 4 networks all stable. Finally got both working as expanaion took 4 redownloads to get working. All good now though.

  68. F N-avatar

Keyboard does not work in-game. I can't even name my character. Furthermore, this game badly needs controller support. Not going to play it, but because I tried it an hour after buying it, I can't even get a refund. Oh, well. Live and learn!

  69. Chuck Jeager-avatar

you know that rarer than a full eclipse thing that happens sometimes, a good mobile game that isn't riddled with microtransactions or adds and just charges a fair flat rate, this is that game

  70. Jack Canonach-avatar

I always come back to this game. The only thing I can think to add is more spells, other than that this game is definitely worth the price.

  71. G T-avatar

masterpiece!!!!! if you like rpgs its a no brainer...…recommended look for expansions too!!!

Cool throwback to old FP CRPGS. I only wish there was more variety in the looks of weapons and townsfolk.

  79. Jonah Collie-avatar

Pretty fun. A little expensive for what it is. If it had been half the price I would have been quite happy with it.

  80. Tucker Rowan-avatar

  81. Jonathan Squyres-avatar

This game should be on computer and consoles. But the devs don't need to. Edit: Oh, I see that $60 bundle. I will get it after another paycheck.
