I'm not a big coding fan on the phone. But I have found that waiting for an appointment or a train, can force you to fight boredom. So, I will load a couple of small files and, mess with them. Many of the text editors on Android are not as intuitive or functional as they are on the desktop. QuickEdit has become a firm choice for text and code tweaks while on the go. It performs well on my Galaxy S10 Edge and has never misformatted a file on save or just destroyed one either.

  2. Karl S.-avatar

apk It's a solid and dependable text editor, but with a couple of major problems. 1. It loses permission to the SD card every time you reboot. The only way to restore it is to create a file. You cannot edit and save an existing file. 2. The viewer opens linked files in the editor, not the viewer. 3. Cursor positioning is also difficult.

  3. Bob Parkinson-avatar

quickedit text editor - writer code editor Very nice editor, recently encountered a problem. I can't save files on my sd card anymore. I tried re-installing the app and I granted access to the sd card, but it still doesn't work.

  4. Michael Chaney-avatar

quickedit text editor - writer code editor apk Am I just grossly overlooking something or is exiting the document really the only way to save your file? I don't see a save button anywhere. For me this is the only difference between 1 and 5 stars. Everything else is pretty straightforward basic text editor.

  5. M Simpson-avatar

I have been using your app to make chess pgn (player game notation) files for years. A lot of pgn text files made with editors will not open in a chess app because they have the wrong and/or change file types and extensions, yours does not.

  6. Marty Biernat-avatar

The best editor I've found, even opens large files.

  7. António Pina-avatar

Good app. Could be better in some points: >Have Undo/Redo button on top menu >Rename file option on File menu >Long pressing should imediatelly enter select mode ( option such as select all should then appear on top menu along with paste, copy, etc.) > Suggestions mode doesn't seem to show any suggestion even after forcing programming language

  8. Dan Campbell-avatar

Very helpful. However, lately I've noticed that the app closes, after you save and click the Recent Apps button. Then you have to reopen it again. In other words, I can't just switch between another application and QuickEdit Pro. QE Pro closes immediately, when you try to switch.

  9. Knoaf-avatar

The UI and usabilty is nice. The app creates 'indents and spaces' that dont exist in the python file. At the end of the line, keeps syntax error tabs and spaces but its end of line. Rewrite the line doesnt help unless done in a different editor.

  10. jessica siu-avatar

All is fine except for one thing - when I edit my php file, all those color highlights changes and its hard to distinguish between code and comment, otherwise it just works wonders. But that alone is quite a bother :(

  11. Brady Tippit-avatar

The User Interface. That's the name of the game. No matter how good the underlying code is to carry out various tasks it's the GUI that the users see and interact with. A great UI covers a multitude of sins. Keep working on the UI. You can do better.

  12. James McKinney-avatar

The best text editor on Android.

really enjoy it, I can't have visual studio on chromebook and this guy really does it. Needs a few quicks such as code suggestions in html and css which is always useful and a live screen displaying the code your enter a bit like jsbin online

recent update ruined the editor. It is acting totally weird now. editor doesn't show the exact content of the file and doesn't save the content properly.

This is an honest text editor that is not sold as a service like many around here. The color highlighting is flawless.

Fine editor. Please add Asciidoc to the list of syntax highlighting. Bad shortage of Asciidoc support in Android!

this was my goto editor for programming for the longest time. it's still a great editor for non-root ops. however with root pivs, editing files that require root give false successful message upon save. I can open a file, edit it, and save successfully. However upon opening that same file aftetwards I find that my edits are gone ...as if it never happened.

While I installed this app as part of a batch test, looking for the right text editor for me, and ultimately decided against its long term use - I feel this app's robust, sleek design and broad syntax database would be a valuable tool to someone whose work was more coding-focused than my own.

  25. Oak Aged-avatar

I tried the free version but the ads are so intrusive, disruptive, and underhanded (when you try to exit it opens a confirmation window, and then right when you try to tap "exit" it opens an app ad and puts the "install" button right where you're about to tap to exit) that it's not worth using. The paid version works exactly as it should and is well worth the price. One of the few that has no problem opening text files via shortcuts, for example. One flaw: even dark mode opens in bright white.

  26. Mark Iceman0001-avatar

This is one of the best apps on Android. Being a self-proclaimed plaintext geek I use this app exclusively as a standard text editor for plain text files to increase my personal productivity. I have some extremely large text files which the app handles just fine. It's just perfect and has all the tools you need to work with plain text. Combined with a dark mode and the ability to copy to and from network drives or your SD card it is absolutely phenomenal. A big thank you to it's Developers!

  27. Sean Harvey-avatar

Doesn't provide an easy way to save files back to files opened with SAF (OneDrive). so I used auto save feature to do so and found that the changes do not get saved correctly to OneDrive (extra text gets appended to the end of the files). Also there is no easy place to give feedback (other than creating an account on xda which im not going to do)

  28. Flavio Campos-avatar

Go language Syntax highlight is not working for me, can you please fix? :) 4 stars until fix, its the best text editor for android so I really hope it gets fixed. Edit: So it seems that it deppends from a repo which provides the syntax color scheme, and Go doesn't have a decent one. So it's not the developers fault. 5 stars.

  29. Morgan Stone-avatar

Best mobile coding app I've tried & I have tried lots!

  30. gsobrian-avatar

Totally nonstandard UI. Can load from SD card but only saves to internal storage. What!!!?? Can't select text file format to associate with txt. Can't tap a txt file in the file manager to load with this program. Brain dead. What a waste of 3 dollars. Okay that ^^^ was a little harsh. I'm finding this useful and have found workarounds. The file association thing ended up being not a problem. Still think the UI is really odd but now I'm used to it I can make use of the app.

  31. Robert Dickey-avatar

Incredible app. As a Lead Software Engineer I often get called on to view edits/make edits to various websites on the go. For the longest time I would have to get my laptop out, tether to my phone, go through the normal routine...but now with QuickEdit I am able to do it quickly and instantly on my phone, or through Dex, which the app seems to work well on. This combined with OpenConnect for the VPN is a winning combination.

  32. Al Darn-avatar

Worth Every Penny! I've been looking for a good HTML editor on Android for months but been disappointed with all the others--including the text editor preinstalled on my Pixelbook Chromebook. This works as expected with cursor placement, which many Android apps do NOT, and the workspace is adjustable as it should be, but many other Android apps are NOT. It's definitely worth 5 Stars. My one request is for the built-in Storage Manager to be able to use Google Drive where my documents are archive from all devices. Now I have to move them onto the Pixelbook as a "local" file for QuickEdit Pro to work with. That will make it 100% functional.

  33. Jonathan Richard-Brochu-avatar

    Jonathan Richard-Brochu

I really like the app, have been using it for a few years and it just does what you expect a text editor to do. At the same time, I really wish there was an easier/faster to toggle word wrapping; if adding a toggle to the edit menu isn't possible, then at least a keyboard shortcut to toggle it (for when using a full ASCII virtual keyboard) would be greatly appreciated :)

  34. Severius84-avatar

I really love this editor. The tabs and simple UI make for a great experience. Features I would like to see in future updates: A running word count somewhere in the UI. I like knowing how many words I've written. Custom colors for all UI elements would also be nice. I prefer white text on blue backround.

  35. JosefK Traduced-avatar

    JosefK Traduced

I have only a couple criticisms for this app, which may be the best text editor I have used on Android. The "Save Session" function does not work consistently, and seems to open old sessions more often than not. Occasionally it will open my most recent session, but I dont see any obvious pattern in its behavior. The "Open File" dialog should at least have an option to start in the last directory used. An "Open Recent.." menu option could help with endless folder navigation as well.

Review: Used the free version for a while. Bought it today. Really one of a kind text editor I have ever encountered in play store. A slight issue is there. That is cursor's behavior is autistic. It not works quite well like any "tap, wait & select". If I want to select any text and want to move the cursor then it works just like a mad dog or cat. Points here points there. Maybe it's a bug. Please resolve this issue ASAP!

  37. Greg Z.-avatar

Very cool, an actual WORKING text file editor. It has lots of useful features too, just like regular computer editors. Unlike many editors, its search function works properly. It took me a long time to find a truly functional Android text editor. It's well worth getting the paid version. The app is now even smaller and even faster responding. The one bad thing (as others have said) is the text selection is a huge pain to do. It's often easier to hold down the backspace key instead.

  38. Velko Nikolov-avatar

This application is great as text editor, but is missing an important feature: when opening a folder to select a file, there is no option to search/narrow by filename. Right now, finding the file you need in a folder with many files can require manually scrolling through the list dozens of times, which is a real drag. If this is addressed, I'd definitely give it five stars based on its features and ease of use.

  39. Ross Mack-avatar

So far so good. So many editors with promises to perform that only disappoint. This one, so far, delivers everything a text editor should, including not crashing when editing large files. Even when performing a complex search and replace using regex. So far...If it continues to perform, I'll be back to raise the rating to 5 stars. Thx

  40. Colin Holzman-avatar

Almost there, but resume session setting is not working and developer is not responding to e-mail or twitter. I regret purchase. Maybe this will get a response? Update: resume session does work if the app is closed using the exit button or back button. Edit: why not save the session when a new file is opened? Then it wouldn't matter how the app is closed.

  41. Dj SyLambert-avatar

Brilliant app! so much so i bought the upgrade. only one thing i feel is missing, currently its not possible to access the clipboard. at the moment i have to use another text app to adjust my the contents (its only possible to paste the last item copied) I hope to see this integration in future updates! 5☆ App with or without! 🙂

I like the application, but I've found an issue that is critical for me. It recognises both internal memory and SD card but, if i connect and external memory (OTG), the SD card disappears and is replaced by the external memory. However, I cannot edit any file in this external memory. I've successfuly edited files located in the external memory by using other apps (Solid Explorer). Pocophone MIUI

  43. K Lion-avatar

At least I can save notes as text files; but placing the cursor and selecting text is an exercise in frustration. Regardless of font size, if I try to extend a selection, trying to drag one of the selection handles usually deselects and moves the cursor to the next line. Once a document fills more than the space above the on-screen keyboard, navigating becomes awful; not only is positioning the cursor extremely difficult, but text and cursor randomly jump around while you're trying to work.

  44. Kris-avatar

Works great. I use it to create/edit text files. One thing to note as FYI: You must open files using this app, if you want your changes to be saved. If you open a file using a file manager, the file will open using this app, but this app will be unable to save the file. And that's true of other text editor apps too.

  45. Dean Mazur-avatar

Works great. However, deleting a file leaves "ghost" file in My Files, but deleting the zero-length file in that app removes the ghost. Also, this is the only app on my device which supports the standard Samsung kybd but does not support the keyboard's clipboard button. Cut and paste work using the editor's button. These are minor bugs, but it would be nice to see them fixed.

  46. A Google user-avatar

Has some useful features: external SD; open from recent files list; print;auto save. Would be nice for printout to optionally have a date/time in the header or footer. Method of selecting and copying/cutting is non-standard but usable. I liked it enough to upgrade.

  47. martnava-avatar

edit :seemed to have fixed this in recent release. just purchased, registered app having problems saving changes, will select save and it says saved but when use back button to exit then open again nothing was saved. sometimes saves and other times doesn't, maybe something to do with launching through xiaomi default file manager. os: miui 10, android 9

  48. Lawrence Emke-avatar

Tried to save a new file directly to Google drive, could not find out to do it. Save appears to only have local file access for saving. Bought a Chrome OS tablet, would like to see integration with the "linux" sub-folder in the new "Files" manager appt. But nobody seems to have that. But would like to be able to save a new file directly to my google drive location. Being able to save to directly save to google drive would up my evaluation. Access and save to Chrome OS linux folder would hit be ball out of the park.

  49. Luna Umbra-avatar

Plz plz plz get rid of the "file saved" popup from autosave. If I leave the application and it saves in the background my phone opens quick edit to show the toast. I auto save every minute. It's super frustrating! Also o can't type while the toast is up. The only thing I really can't stand about this. Plz consider fixing. Android P Sony xz1c

  50. Stephen Levitt-avatar

Solid, well thought out text editor. One niggle is that it does not remember which files are currently open if you close the app by swiping it from the list of all currently open apps. File state is remembered if you exit from within the app itself.

  51. lee jes-avatar

如果有選項,可以讓"開啟中"文檔 刷新載入,而毋須重新開啟文檔,會更好。dropbox連結運作良好。此APP,我不是用於寫程式碼。it would be better, if it is a option to reflash a updated text, while the file already opened. instead of open file again to load a file update. Dropbox file sharing, working fine. I am not using this APP for Coding.

  52. A Google user-avatar

Simple and good - does what it says with no garbage, and I appreciate the preview mode for MD files. For people who can't figure out saving to Google Drive or Dropbox, go to Storage Manager in the menu to set up the account.

  53. Matthew Morrone-avatar

almost exactly what I need, with two exceptions. when you go to open a file after having opened one, the file explorer should start in its last location. also, sending native cut/copy/paste commands through a soft keyboard doesn't work at all

  54. Rod Jones-avatar

Would be FIVE STAR except I can't create a file on my external SD Drive. I can edit a file on my external SD drive or create a file on my internal drive and move it to my external SD drive, then edit that. Not acceptable for me. Waiting for a fix or another APP.

  55. Richard Lemieux-avatar

I use it every day to keep notes and edit text files. This is the best tool I have found yet for writing text on the phone. I would like a button that writes a timestamp when I add a new entry to my log files.

  56. A Google user-avatar

Extremely powerful editor, I can't recommend it highly enough. Read/write directly to SD storage is the critical feature I needed. This app has that and much more.

Works well on an older tablet. Quick and easy to use. Good functionality. After using for a couple of weeks I cannot think of any annoyances nor any features I feel are missing.

  58. Chris-avatar

It keeps forgeting my syntax selection (javascript) and goes back to auto but auto doesn't work; the code loses all color. I can just re-select javascript but having to do it over and over is a bit annoying. Still a great editor though.

  59. Richard Denell-avatar

look so far I'm fairly satisfied. I wish I could the text color and I have a difficult time calibrating my keyboard. I really need this app to work better with my DeX pad. what are it's limitations on how far it'll be able render the proper image of the code.

  60. A Google user-avatar

Quickedit free was the first android editor I tried that recognized and could utilize my sd card. I was impressed enough I upgraded to Quickedit Pro and I believe this is the best text editor I have used on android. Works flawlessly every time without frustration. Excellent app!

I paid for this and installed this for Chromebook and it works great for saving a quick text file but when you have to edit an existing text file and save it you can't because of an error that reads: java.lang.SecurityException: Permission Denal: writing

  62. Nic Daniau-avatar

Best text editor around. Knows all syntaxes you can possibly dream of, pulls and saves files to Dropbox, network shares, etc. Does everything a good text editor should do, wih no faffing around or bloatware. The best.

  63. A Google user-avatar

It's been snappy and robust in my experience. The user interface is nice and it seems to have good spot for larger files and files with different encodings, as well as good syntax highlighting.

  64. E Gul-avatar

Best text editor I could find with free version. Simple and reliable, with a little room for customization. Ads are annoying, but I don't mind supporting author via pro version to get rid of them.

  65. Stephen Little-avatar

I'm no expert but this is the best text editor I've found on Android. I was looking for something like Textpad, which I've used in the desktop for many years, and this has most of the functions i needed.

There are no differences between the free version and paid version other than the removal of adds. Auto completion doesn't work and the menu bar doesn't float over Android keyboard.

  67. David A-avatar

Brilliant editor does just what I want, opens multiple pages and allows porting of data between them. Very efficient search and replace feature and simple to use as your default editor.

  68. Jason Tyler-avatar

Use case of saving an untitled file is broken. Can open and same a new and named empty file, but cannot save an untitled file. Workaround is to save a separate file and then cut and paste contents over. Annoying

  70. Michael Ryan-avatar

  71. Ric-avatar

I own the Pro version. Best editor I've tried and purchased. Use it every day, even for simple notes. Love the black mode; saves my eyes and battery.

  72. Zoltan Koszta-avatar

Best note making app for my needs.opens quickly where the last time I left the document, and I can save my notes to desired location, which is amazingly missing from every other similar app I had tried.

  73. Aaron Goodwin-avatar

The best text editor I've seen in the store. Plus, it has syntax coloring for so many programming languages, etc.

Just a great text editor for program files e.g. on remote storage such as Dropbox. Look no further. Beautifully implemented. Very impressive includes syntax highlighting. Thank You so much. Be proud!

Excellent text editor. Auto line numbering makes it suitable for code editing. Also great for general ANSI text editing.

The free edition is already enough for my needs but I purchased the pro version to support the development of this app because this app is awesome!

Could not get syntax highlighting to work for python code on a samsung Tab A using Android ver 8.1.0. One of my criteria for choosing it. otherwise not bad so far. Stay tuned.

Dissappointed with bugs in basic functionality (e.g. copy+paste does not work). The free version actually better in certain areas.

It would be nice if there was a "keep current text in editor when app closes" feature. Or a "restore previous text when app starts".

It is a really great app, very neat! Anyway, for 5 stars I would like to have a 'save as' directly to Dropbox...

Excellent plain text editor. Has access to file system and a variety of syntax highlighters. Dark mode.

Works for me. Multiple files open at once, and easy printing. Very happy with the app.

App was running fine on my Samsung Note 4, then all of the sudden I can't save any files anywhere, be it in internal or external storage. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Very nice. This is the third editor I have tried. I feel no urge to move away from it, as I did the other two.

I paid for this text editor and it can't open large (50 MB) text files. Disappointed. Otherwise it's decent.

Good easy to use editor with lots of features. Good for editing code.

Works on memory cards now. It's back to being my favorite editor for taking notes and viewing files.

Works great, multi-device usage. Was looking for a text editor that works with Cloud-ased files and this was much more.

Excellent editor! Works flawlessly on both phone and tablet.

Super quick text editor that saves to SD card perfectly and not just internal storage. Great!

Easy to use, flexible, powerful. Combined with an external keyboard, it's easy to forget you're working on a tablet.
