Love this text editor! Have been using it for years now. The only thing I find frustrating is saving - the auto-saving isn't as robust as I would like, and manually saving requires navigating through a sub-menu. It would be wonderful if there was a one-click way to save - perhaps an option for a dedicated button, or by clicking on the filename at the top of the screen? Edit: love the new toolbar! Does just what I want.

apk Update: After all of the latest updates it's more stable and usable than before. Kudos to the developer! Review: Used the free version for a while. Bought it today. Really one of a kind text editor I have ever encountered in play store. A slight issue is there. That is cursor's behavior is autistic. It not works quite well like any "tap, wait & select". If I want to select any text and want to move the cursor then it jumps here and there. Maybe it's a bug. Please resolve this issue ASAP!

Latest update that introduces a toolbar on the bottom of the screen takes up valuable screen real estate. It does not move the menu from the top to the bottom. It adds another menu to the bottom and it has some overlap with existing menu functionality. Need to be able to disable this new toolbar. If this is the "folder drawer" feature found in settings, disabling it does not work. Xperia X compact Android 8

Great app; however, the color coding often times is incorrect. The only remedy is to save, close out the app, and reopen.

QuickEdit Pro is great for small code writing and other text editing needs. I wish the Pro version offered better search and replace capabilities such as as saving important searches. RegEx search formulas are hard enough to figure out once, but it is disappointing to discover they are gone when needed again. Also, need character markers for characters like: Line-Returns, Tabs, Spaces, etc. I often need to search & replace four Spaces for a single Tab for code indent.

My preferred editor. I actually use it to write prose. However, it appears that spell-correction/ihighlighting is unavailable (understandable, given the code-centric app focus). Nonetheless, I would appreciate having the ability of using the app as a plain-text/writer's app, inclusive of a dictionary and spell-checker utility.

Paying even a few dollars I would expect it to be flawless but it is not perfectly free from glitches. While it is not bloaty I would prefer fewer features and flawless performance. The syntax highlighting is incorrect sometimes. The ribbon on top is erratic sometimes. Still it's the best I've found so far. Thank you!!! Other reviewer was not able to locate files. I have not had that problem. But overall the app is slightly janky which sucks.

Update, 06/16/2020: After uninstalling & reinstalling, everything is working fine, now. Thanks. Update, 05/26/2020: I'm no longer able to highlight blocks of text, to copy or delete. If you point and hold, it doesn't do anything. If you point and hold in other applications, it gives you those two Select bars, that allow you to highlight blocks of text.

Got it so I could edit local webserver on the fly, on my phone, without needing a computer. I updated an html file within minutes of installing. Pretty easy to configure and use. Some of the permissions are iffy, but could be related to remote file access and not data mining. Also like that it is updated regularly.

I mostly never buy apps or their pro versions in general, let alone text editors. This app however is special, it is amazing!! This is the best editor in android, as it states in it's desc it remains blazing fast even with the largest files I open in it, the direct google drive interface is also superb! The UI is fantastic with tools like insert color, date built into it, definitely reccomended

Unfortunately for some reason the PlayStore didn't allow me to update my review on the non-Plus version so I am writing here. This app is excellent, simply the best editor there is. As for my previous question, I believe you dev is correct, because I observed the same behaviour in 95% of ALL Android apps. Just a small request/suggestion: I understand this is meant to prevent unintentional exit while editing a file, but please add an option to disable the double-tap on the "Back" button to exit.

QuickEdit Pro, Android 9: I love it and it is absolutely essential and indispensable. Thank you! Quick suggestions to make it ever better: 1) When saving file note.txt, create backup file note.txt~ of how it was before it was saved. 2) Enable search dropdown list of previous several search queries. 3) When user positions cursor and then long-touches to copy or paste, hold that cursor position; currently it does not hold, but moves to the long-touch position.

Best txt app. Suggestions: (1) Swiping body of text to left: Shows Preview (like PureWriter app & many other .md apps). + (2) Basic "Dark Mode for Preview" option in settings (even if only for markdown). (3) Preview icon in top toolbar (+Android Menu button should show the top-right 3 dots ... menu, as is standard on many apps). 5* this is the best txt Android app.

So far, so extremely good looking. Especially sweet: Using external fonts ... <3 Two requests: 1) Please let indented lines wrap so that the indent is kept. 2) Files opened from Dropbox should be updated automatically if changed on another device. Currently they have to be manually closed and re-opened in the app for external changes to be reflected.

I paid for the Pro version but it is unusable. I have no ideas where my files are stored. I searched using my file manager found the one file I saved but when I try to open it, I get an error saying none of my installed apps will open that file type. This app sucks big time.

I bought QuickEdit+ for my phone, no ads and it does all I want. Now months later I want it on my tablet. ALL the QuickEdit products suddenly are so full of ads they are unusable; I cannot even pay to get rid of them. Strange: Windows10.GooglePlay is showing a payed no-ad version for GBP 2.89!

See my positive review on FREE version. Note: Save and Save as work fine after selecting folder there's a plus sign near bottom to create subfolder or file name. I recommend saving a blank file so you can open with that and save as different name later

Excellent text editor for utf-8 and more. Question: do I *really* have to buy the pro version for each device? I bought it at my phone, and it still requires me buying it at my tablet. Deliberate or a bug? This is not the usual play store behaviour. - My bad: seems like play store takes a while to register purchase; ok now.

This is a great and reliable app. I depend on the auto save function. I would like to see an option for it to be silent (rather than popping up a distracting "File saved successfully" message, it would only pop up the message if the save fails). Thanks!!!

Having migrated over from.iphone recently I wanted an android text editor that writes actual text files, ideally also with spell checking and also very importantly with UNDO and REDO. This app has all those functions built in. I can Undo with just two clicks. Hooray! This easy to use editor is perfect for my needs and so far it works perfectly on my Samsung phone.. I hate ads in apps so I went the pro route. Well worth the purchase. Thank you ! A great app.

LG G8 running Android 10. This is my favorite text editor in all of Play Store. I purchased the pro version years ago after using it only a short while it has never disappointed me very powerful whether you're doing a simple text file a list or actually writing code. The developers are great always refining and improving an already great product. So feature-rich and easy to use very highly recommended

Session restore is fixed, mostly, Thanks. 'Mostly', I get varying results depending on how a file is opened. From stock file browser and/or OI file manager it's fine, from Root Explorer it's no joy. Quirks, eh? Not complaining, just commenting. - - - You can't possibly build for every possible combination, I get it. - - Tying to be useful; it's a lovely text editor, rather like Notepad++ for Android. It's on all my 'droids, one of the first things I install. It should be built in.

Incredible app. As a Lead Software Engineer I often get called on to view edits/make edits to various websites on the go. For the longest time I would have to get my laptop out, tether to my phone, go through the normal routine...but now with QuickEdit I am able to do it quickly and instantly on my phone, or through Dex, which the app seems to work well on. This combined with OpenConnect for the VPN is a winning combination.

Very cool, an actual WORKING text file editor. It has lots of useful features too, just like regular computer editors. Unlike many editors, its search function works properly. It took me a long time to find a truly functional Android text editor. It's well worth getting the paid version. The app is now even smaller and even faster responding. The one bad thing (as others have said) is the text selection is a huge pain to do. It's often easier to hold down the backspace key instead.

So far so good. So many editors with promises to perform that only disappoint. This one, so far, delivers everything a text editor should, including not crashing when editing large files. Even when performing a complex search and replace using regex. So far...If it continues to perform, I'll be back to raise the rating to 5 stars. Thx

This application is great as text editor, but is missing an important feature: when opening a folder to select a file, there is no option to search/narrow by filename. Right now, finding the file you need in a folder with many files can require manually scrolling through the list dozens of times, which is a real drag. If this is addressed, I'd definitely give it five stars based on its features and ease of use.

Almost there, but resume session setting is not working and developer is not responding to e-mail or twitter. I regret purchase. Maybe this will get a response? Update: resume session does work if the app is closed using the exit button or back button. Edit: why not save the session when a new file is opened? Then it wouldn't matter how the app is closed.

Brilliant app! so much so i bought the upgrade. only one thing i feel is missing, currently its not possible to access the clipboard. at the moment i have to use another text app to adjust my the contents (its only possible to paste the last item copied) I hope to see this integration in future updates! 5☆ App with or without! 🙂

Totally nonstandard UI. Can load from SD card but only saves to internal storage. What!!!?? Can't select text file format to associate with txt. Can't tap a txt file in the file manager to load with this program. Brain dead. What a waste of 3 dollars. Okay that ^^^ was a little harsh. I'm finding this useful and have found workarounds. The file association thing ended up being not a problem. Still think the UI is really odd but now I'm used to it I can make use of the app.

I like the application, but I've found an issue that is critical for me. It recognises both internal memory and SD card but, if i connect and external memory (OTG), the SD card disappears and is replaced by the external memory. However, I cannot edit any file in this external memory. I've successfuly edited files located in the external memory by using other apps (Solid Explorer). Pocophone MIUI

Worth Every Penny! I've been looking for a good HTML editor on Android for months but been disappointed with all the others--including the text editor preinstalled on my Pixelbook Chromebook. This works as expected with cursor placement, which many Android apps do NOT, and the workspace is adjustable as it should be, but many other Android apps are NOT. It's definitely worth 5 Stars. My one request is for the built-in Storage Manager to be able to use Google Drive where my documents are archive from all devices. Now I have to move them onto the Pixelbook as a "local" file for QuickEdit Pro to work with. That will make it 100% functional.

  44. Karl S.-avatar

It's a solid and dependable text editor, but with a couple of major problems. 1. It loses permission to the SD card every time you reboot. The only way to restore it is to create a file. You cannot edit and save an existing file. 2. The viewer opens linked files in the editor, not the viewer. 3. Cursor positioning is also difficult.

  45. K Lion-avatar

    K Lion

At least I can save notes as text files; but placing the cursor and selecting text is an exercise in frustration. Regardless of font size, if I try to extend a selection, trying to drag one of the selection handles usually deselects and moves the cursor to the next line. Once a document fills more than the space above the on-screen keyboard, navigating becomes awful; not only is positioning the cursor extremely difficult, but text and cursor randomly jump around while you're trying to work.

I have only a couple criticisms for this app, which may be the best text editor I have used on Android. The "Save Session" function does not work consistently, and seems to open old sessions more often than not. Occasionally it will open my most recent session, but I dont see any obvious pattern in its behavior. The "Open File" dialog should at least have an option to start in the last directory used. An "Open Recent.." menu option could help with endless folder navigation as well.

  47. Kris-avatar

Works great. I use it to create/edit text files. One thing to note as FYI: You must open files using this app, if you want your changes to be saved. If you open a file using a file manager, the file will open using this app, but this app will be unable to save the file. And that's true of other text editor apps too.

  48. Severius84-avatar

I really love this editor. The tabs and simple UI make for a great experience. Features I would like to see in future updates: A running word count somewhere in the UI. I like knowing how many words I've written. Custom colors for all UI elements would also be nice. I prefer white text on blue backround.

this was my goto editor for programming for the longest time. it's still a great editor for non-root ops. however with root pivs, editing files that require root give false successful message upon save. I tried the free version but the ads are so intrusive, disruptive, and underhanded (when you try to exit it opens a confirmation window, and then right when you try to tap "exit" it opens an app ad and puts the "install" button right where you're about to tap to exit) that it's not worth using. The paid version works exactly as it should and is well worth the price. One of the few that has no problem opening text files via shortcuts, for example. One flaw: even dark mode opens in bright white.

Works great. However, deleting a file leaves "ghost" file in My Files, but deleting the zero-length file in that app removes the ghost. Also, this is the only app on my device which supports the standard Samsung kybd but does not support the keyboard's clipboard button. Cut and paste work using the editor's button. These are minor bugs, but it would be nice to see them fixed.

This is one of the best apps on Android. Being a self-proclaimed plaintext geek I use this app exclusively as a standard text editor for plain text files to increase my personal productivity. I have some extremely large text files which the app handles just fine. It's just perfect and has all the tools you need to work with plain text. Combined with a dark mode and the ability to copy to and from network drives or your SD card it is absolutely phenomenal. A big thank you to it's Developers!

I'm not a big coding fan on the phone. But I have found that waiting for an appointment or a train, can force you to fight boredom. So, I will load a couple of small files and, mess with them. Many of the text editors on Android are not as intuitive or functional as they are on the desktop. QuickEdit has become a firm choice for text and code tweaks while on the go. It performs well on my Galaxy S10 Edge and has never misformatted a file on save or just destroyed one either.

Doesn't provide an easy way to save files back to files opened with SAF (OneDrive). so I used auto save feature to do so and found that the changes do not get saved correctly to OneDrive (extra text gets appended to the end of the files). Tried to save a new file directly to Google drive, could not find out to do it. Save appears to only have local file access for saving. Bought a Chrome OS tablet, would like to see integration with the "linux" sub-folder in the new "Files" manager appt. But nobody seems to have that. But would like to be able to save a new file directly to my google drive location. Being able to save to directly save to google drive would up my evaluation. The UI and usabilty is nice. The app creates 'indents and spaces' that dont exist in the python file. At the end of the line, keeps syntax error tabs and spaces but its end of line. Rewrite the line doesnt help unless done in a different editor.

Solid, well thought out text editor. One niggle is that it does not remember which files are currently open if you close the app by swiping it from the list of all currently open apps. File state is remembered if you exit from within the app itself.

Simple and good - does what it says with no garbage, and I appreciate the preview mode for MD files. For people who can't figure out saving to Google Drive or Dropbox, go to Storage Manager in the menu to set up the account.

Would be FIVE STAR except I can't create a file on my external SD Drive. I can edit a file on my external SD drive or create a file on my internal drive and move it to my external SD drive, then edit that. Not acceptable for me. Waiting for a fix or another APP.

It's been snappy and robust in my experience. The user interface is nice and it seems to have good spot for larger files and files with different encodings, as well as good syntax highlighting.

All is fine except for one thing - when I edit my php file, all those color highlights changes and its hard to distinguish between code and comment, otherwise it just works wonders. But that alone is quite a bother :(

Am I just grossly overlooking something or is exiting the document really the only way to save your file? I don't see a save button anywhere. For me this is the only difference between 1 and 5 stars. Everything else is pretty straightforward basic text editor.

There are no differences between the free version and paid version other than the removal of adds. Auto completion doesn't work and the menu bar doesn't float over Android keyboard.

I have been using your app to make chess pgn (player game notation) files for years. A lot of pgn text files made with editors will not open in a chess app because they have the wrong and/or change file types and extensions, yours does not.
