One of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful arcade games of the 1980s is back in its Classic pixel perfect 2D form, and a re-imagined Reboot version with state of the art 3D game-play and graphics that remain faithful to the original concept. Both versions are exciting twitch games requiring keen puzzle solving skills and logic.

* 2 Fun Play Modes, Classic Arcade and Q*bert Rebooted!

* Coily and the rest of the crew are back with 3 New Enemies :- Homer, Uppercut and Treasure Chest

* 30+ New Levels in 3D Rebooted Mode

* Earn Crazy Q*bert Variants like Q*zilla, Q*bot, Q*knight and more

First introduced in 1982 by Gottlieb, Q*bert was critically-acclaimed and went on to become the one of the most successful arcade game of all time. It inspired home versions, a variety of Q*bert merchandise, numerous copycat games and even an animated TV series.

Q*bert Classic stays true to the original in all its jagged 2D pixel art glory, now optimized for touch screen control. As the title character, players jump around an isometric cube pyramid and convert each blockís color while avoiding familiar adversaries Coily, Ugg, Slick, Sam, Wrong Way and Red Ball. Levels become progressively harder with more enemies blocking your path and the tiles requiring multiple jumps to change to the required color.

Q*bert Rebooted takes the arcade classic and catapults it into the 21st century with 3D game play yet remains faithful to the original. Featuring hexagonal blocks instead of squares, Q*bert Rebooted introduces new enemies, playable characters, power-ups, traps, gem collecting and characters, and new ways to play.

  1. Ross B-avatar

It's okay. Would play best with with a controller. This is not an ideal touch screen game, your finger is always in the way of the action. Later, difficult levels would be unbearable. Aside from that glaring problem, the game functions well. The sound, characters and animation of the Classic version is just like I remember it from Atari, with HD resolution here.

  2. The Plague Doctor-avatar

    The Plague Doctor

Everything the old Qbert had (the classic game is there too if you really want to be nostalgic) but much improved & better! It doesn't lead to frustrating endlessness like the old one and I like the variety--like the new treasure box and different shaped puzzles to complete! Very addicting!

  3. B. Fam!-avatar

I would like an explanation on why you have adultry and group sex themed ads on what is CLEARLY a game that will be played by children??? Beside being disgusting it is intentionally exposing children to porn which is illegal. This was a fun and well made game until I saw the ads.

  4. Vincent Kingsdale-avatar

    Vincent Kingsdale

good, but i would like to see the back button placed at the top right or left if the screen. i can't say how many times i accidentally hit the back button while playing the game. frustrating

  5. Jason France-avatar

one of the few retro arcade games that works well on a smart phone. Even better than pac-man as sometimes the swipe control is hard to use. very good game and true to the original.

  6. Setnakt Spears-avatar

This is the Q*bert experience to get, not that other craptastic version with a "subscription" to get rid of the ads. Lots more variety here plus the classic game also.

  7. A Google user-avatar

I have always loved arcade games and all games in general so honestly I love this! Thumbs up bro!

  8. Shannon Valle-avatar

I really like this game. But when I got a new phone I couldn't transfer my progress and had to start over.

  9. Leif Irgens-avatar

Trying to maneuver by clicking the playing field is unbearably difficult vs the joy stick controls for the old arcade game.

  10. Gabe Johnston-avatar

Good concept, bad execution, especially in the controls department.

  11. sandy w-avatar

Good controls good game play good graphics options IF you don't mind a few ads.

  12. Matt S-avatar

Only works in landscape on my phone. Won't rotate screen to portrait as I rotate my phone.

A lot of fun, but crashes during play constantly, uninstalled

  15. Michael McCann-avatar

There is no way to change the controls to a standard dpad or something and it ruins the game

  46. Richard Craig-avatar

The original game is done well, but the new version is pretty blah. Lazy graphics, public domain sounds, no personality. This is your typical half-hearted modernized retro game. Tried again after a couple years and still lame. Controls don't always work right either.

  47. Steve Z-avatar

Contrary to another commentator who complains about having to tap the actual squares (or hexagons) to move Q-bert, I PREFER it; as a different version actually HAD that seperate "pad" and I found it difficult to control.

  48. Josh Clark-avatar

Wish the was a paid version to avoid the ads. Also the controls don't work exactly as I hit them, the joystick from back in the day with the original game was dead on, this method with the taps needs work but still an awesome game!! Still playing after this review years ago but the controls still suck!

  49. A Google user-avatar

'Q*bert Rebooted' brings to the 21st Century player the ever popular cute and adorable Q*bert character whom will bounce his way into the hearts of young and old alike. For those players not familiar with the character, the game screen opens with Q*bert being lifted to the top of a pile of colourful hexagonal tiles where the player then attempts to ensure Q*bert has bounced on every one. As Q*bert hops on each one causing the colour to change to advance to the next stage, he must also gather as many crystals as possible whilst evading his adversaries, the red bouncing ball as well as other creatures, whom will foil Q*bert's attempt at changing the tiles by restoring them to their original colour, which appear in later levels. The collected crystals allow the player to use them in exchange for changing character type and rewards to assist in gaining advantage throughout the game. Adjacent to the hexagonal tiles on each side of the playing field colourful discs are suspended to aid Q*bert to utilize in evading any adversary resulting Q*bert being lifted to the top of the tile stack as a means to avoid the deadly adversaries. In addition to the enjoyable gameplay, Q*bert will be heard at times complaining to himself by producing unintelligible gibberish. No one as yet has been able to decipher his quirky language, not even yours truly with my advanced intellect. Join the ever jovial protagonist Q*bert as he attempts to clear as many tiles to reach the ultimate goal. A fun game to occupy one's spare time following hours of Calculus homework. Definitely a Five Star rating!

  57. Hotepsekhemwe-avatar

Agreed. The controls suck. It could EASILY be fixed by placing a d-pad on the side the screen. They could even have an option for lefties to have the d-pad on right or left side of screen. Presently, you can control Qbert, but you have to tap ON the pyramid, in which case, I can't see the pyramid bc my finger is in the way. Frustrating!

  58. David Bugbee-avatar

The gameplay is OK, if not weird, as instead of cubes, the game has hexagons. However, this game has 360 ads, which pop-up constantly, and the game wants permission to make Calls and Track Location. What a horrible way to ruin such a classic. Do not get this, as it will push Sony and Sideline to keep up this practice. Get the PC Reboot or HD Version instead.

  59. Jon H-avatar

Only got this for the original. If you're gonna go to the effort then do it properly! Wrong music for green ball/level starts. Only a squeak for Slick/Sam, no sounds for extra life or disc bonuses, Q*bert facing wrong way at start of rounds, only one noise when losing life, Slick/Sam far too slow. Balls/monsters disappear as soon as on disc even if Coily not around. Has so much potential as the graphics are spot on. Annoying!!

  60. David Wilson-avatar

Qbert classic wouldn't jump where I was trying to make him jump when to the new Qbert I was interupted with an ad before I could do anything. Annoying ads are an immediate uninstall.

  61. roar H-avatar

The controls make this game unplayable. I could swipe in the same direction and have the character move randomly. I really like this game so it's unfortunate that the controls are so bad.

  62. Michael McGuire97-avatar

    Michael McGuire97

I don't know why everyone is complaining about the controls. Qbert is extremely easy to control, as I've completed five levels so far with no problems at all. This game is fun and easy to play.

  63. Raymond Wiggins-avatar

    Raymond Wiggins

Game crashes routinely. Classic mode isn't a very good replica of original arcade. Odd delay at start of levels. Unforgivable is that the level music for levels over 1 is incorrect. Controls are flakey, and I'm never really sure where the touch regions are.

  64. I KD-avatar

A classic game that's completely ruined by the controls. You swipe one way and it goes the opposite way of the direction you want to go. It's hard to enjoy a game where you can't control the player.

  65. Kev In-avatar

The new update requests permission to my location. I denied it permission. However the mere fact that I paid for this game only for it to ask for my location is enough for one star. Remove the requesting permission to my location and you get five stars.

  66. Karen Karmazin-avatar

I was so excited to play this game, but excitement quickly turned into pure annoyance, as I cannot even control Qbert's movements. Extremely difficult!! Not to mention there are way too many "enemies" for the first board. Like, what the heck?? After many numerous attempts, I finally got to the second board with one life left, only to die almost immediately, then the game ended. This game was NO FUN at ALL, and I'm probably going to uninstall it sometime today - but I'll give it another chance later after calming down a bit from the aggravation this has caused me. :(

  67. Laura Dickey-avatar

The Classic portion of the app is great. The Rebooted portion crashes before loading completely everytime. I'm using an S8, so there should be no software compatibility issues.

  68. Ali Rhodes-avatar

Get on to the app, immediately greated by an ad. Click play; greeted by the same ad then crashes to the first opening screen, just to be greeted be the same ad AGAIN. Gameplay is great. Controls are okay...

  69. First Name Last Name-avatar

The controlls are fine but there is no tutorial or explanation of them so that's why the other reviewers are having trouble. There are three ways to controll Qbert. 1. You can use a controller and push the joystick diagonal to move which works fine for the original Qbert but is a little tricky for the rebooted version because it uses more than four direction. 2. You can tap on the space you want Qbert to hop which works for both games just fine. 3. If you are playing the original game then you can tap on the corners of the screen to make him move in that derection. Bottom left corner is diagonal left and down ect.

  70. TJ Powell-avatar

Great job porting this gem but I think this game loses its feel when it's converted to touch controls instead of a physical stick. Nothing that's the devs fault, again, great job, but the overall feel and challenge just isn't there tapping the screen.

  71. TheBeiderbecke-avatar

Controls are a cancer to the game. Exit button blends in with low right button which causes you to accidently exit in the middle of the game. Then when you sometimes press exit, your character moves to the bottom right.

  72. Armida Avila-avatar

I can never play this game. Everytime I'm about to play it kicks me back to the main screen. It really sucks. It's a waist of time. 😫😥😡😠😤

  73. Grim db-avatar

It is qubert but way to $@#! Difficult the controlls suck but thats just because its on a phone they need like a virtual joystick in the game but it is fun if you get amazing at it

  74. Errol Banta-avatar

This game sucks, unplayable and it wants to control all options on your phone unrelated to game play. Don't bother to download, it's hArd to get rid of.

  75. Dennis Nelson-avatar

Great game ruined by an absurd control setup. Especially bad because I have a large phone screen.

  76. robert esposito-avatar

    robert esposito

Horrible controls. I have no idea why they force you to play a vertical style game holding your phone horizontally. My finger blocks the screen while I'm trying to move. Also too often monsters just drop on your head before the gameplay even starts. The long forced ads are especially annoying in Reboot mode. I chose to delete rather than pay even $.99 to get rid of them. A very poor reboot.

  77. Nica Strong-avatar

Controls did not work when you got to the bottom. Very unfortunate, as I think this would have been a fun game.

  78. boing boingerson-avatar

sad turn for an awesome game so many f**kin ads. hey! i know! why dont you add even more ads! new ad every time you turn a new square!

  79. Bing Bong-avatar

I hate the controls. I think that a d-pad is way better.

  80. Renee nikki brown-avatar

Not sure what the problems works fine on Samsung Galaxy JTs. Controls are just how I remembered. You go diagonally up and down. Kids these days. SMH

  81. ExtinctInsanity-avatar

I was excited to play this game since it was my all time favorite game but was let down when I played it for 10 seconds. The controls are all messed up. You try to go one way and qbert went the other way. You obviously swipe right and down and it goes left, up and over the edge. Cant get past the 1st round.

  82. A Google user-avatar

i bought this and still i get ads, gonna uninstall not happy - i f*kin hate ads

  83. Shane Clem-avatar

The controls suck! Put a curser pad there. It would help a whole lot. Please inform me when you put one and I'll downloaded again. I like to play the classic. Just please fix the controls

  84. Jerry Schuller-avatar

It doesn't jump where you want it to and it closes automatically. Horrible!

  85. Mike Boothroyd-avatar

Unusable controls, and wants access to your entire phone. Shame on you Google for allowing this garbage.

Horrible qbert gos where ever he wants horrible don't download!

  87. Becca B-avatar

Controls suck and ads as soon as I open the game is annoying. I can't even play the game before watching a 30 second ad. No thank you.

  88. Matthew Cotrel-avatar

Please correct the constant foreclose every time a ad goes to play and I will give a proper review

  89. Evie Naylor-avatar

  98. Serge Lauer-avatar

ITEM ALREADY OWNED. But ads are still there???? CANNOT REMOVE THEM after purchase !!!

  99. William Davis-avatar

The game would be great if the reset button wasent in the middle of the screen

  100. A Google user-avatar

I've heard the comments but I haven't played it
