Best VPN I have tried. I use it on Android phones, windows laptop and desktop. I just configured my options and leave it running. Very rare to notice and impact to speed or performance (in Europe.) Obviously if i connect to a server in Americas or Asia it's a bit slow.

apk No need to prove anything, it's the best! Safe, secure, honest with details, trusted and very effecient. Thank you teams for making this excellent app available (even with a free version) to the public. You are the real stars.

protonvpn secure and free vpn service for protecting your privacy So far I've been very satisfied with the app. Occasionally I need to disconnect and reconnect, but that's easy with the quick settings shortcut. Any plans to provide users with the functionality to choose their own DNS provider in the future? This is a feature I miss coming from Speedify where I was able to block ads using Adguard. Keep up the good work! Edit: my banking app, Ally, does not work when the VPN is connected. Any suggestions?

  4. guest-avatar

This new version of the app won't let me log in... After entering my username and password I get "something went wrong" after it hangs for a while. I really hope this is resolved soon so I can use the service again. EDIT: I still can't log in on my Android 8 LG V20, but I can log in on my Pixel 3a XL on Android 10.

It was so good before now it has became buggy and disconnects, slower than before. Need an update to make it better.

A suggestion for anyone having trouble with connections: I believe that Google's Datally may somehow interfere with ProtonVPN (and maybe all VPN) connections. Even without actively using Datally -- with the app just sitting there, "idle", no key icon in the status bar -- it seems to prevent other VPN connections. As soon as I force stop Datally, ProtonVPN connects like a charm -- no problems whatsoever. I'm not sure why this is the case, but that is how it seems to work for me.

Keeps disconnecting me saying "I've exceeded the number of allowed connections" even though I have only ONE connection on ONE device. Proton VPN also regularly displays my "current location" in Google Weather as "Washington DC" & "Abu Dhabi" even though I'm actually connected via a secure, encrypted tunnel to their secure servers in the Netherlands. Is this "normal"? If so, how is it normal? Who is it possible that I can exceed my login allowance when I'm only ever logged in on one device?

  8. guest-avatar

I'm very delighted with the upgrade of the VPN. With the previous version, even using a VPN, foreign websites knew that my search had come from Australia. Now, using open VPN, you have managed to bypass the surveillance of the Australian government. Australia has one of the most invasive surveillance systems in the world, outside of communist countries and dictatorships.

I rate this VPN the highest. I have used many different VPNs and I believe ProtonVPN cares and does more about security, privacy, and reliability than other VPNs and that includes NordVPN! ProtonVPN has a top team of IT professionals at the helm. I recommend ProtonVPN to my son. That tells you everything about my confidence in, and opinion of, ProtonVPN. You should download ProtonVPN and signup today.

Due to issues with billing and invoicing, privacy concerns by users, and poor support experience I can not support anything Proton at this time. The Android VPN app (this) is FINALLY open source after much user outcry. A good thing, but for now I would still use a 3rd party OVPN Android app for the service. I experienced tunnel drops while the app showed connected. Proton appears to be trying, so thanks for that at least.

I'm starting to be convinced that this app just has problems with the Pixel XL. The previous version would disconnect and stay disconnected, seemingly at random (though only when my phone was not being actively used), and now this version is doing the same thing (and I haven't even had it installed a full day yet). This app (and its predecessor) are great when they work, I just think they probably don't work right on my phone. (I should say that the developers did spend a long time troubleshooting with me on the previous version, so the staff are top notch.)

Doesn't connect to any servers. Not from the list, not from quick connect, not from the map - buttons just don't respond. The old version works fine. EDIT: There is a character limit here so I had to remove a part of my original message. I poked around a bit and it turns out that it doesn't work when the old application is installed and set as "always on VPN". SOLUTION: Disabling "always on VPN" fixed things for me. I also sent a email with bug report to your support team.

Hey, love the new app, but I miss the "disconnect" button on the notification bar. If possible, please add that back, its super handy. Edit: it's back thanks

The new update is amazing, I love it, this is literally the best free and paid vpn in my opinion, I can only recommend it. But there's the same personal problem as before as far as I know, the fact that I can't pay with Google pay stops me from paying for it, since I'm not a huge friend of sharing my credit card information online and don't want to pay in bitcoin I'd welcome this payment method, but as I said, this is just a personal problem and shouldn't stop people from using this vpn!

  15. guest-avatar

Its a good vpn but there is something that bothers me and thats when I want to disconnect it from the notification bar, its notification just doesn't go and it only changes to "disconnecting" remaining in notification bar until I click directly on it. I also suspect that it might be a software bug concerned with it; because the button keeps quivering in the notification bar as soon as I get connected. Please fix this.
