What is pranayama (yogic breathing)?

‘Prana’ refers to the universal life force and \‘ayama\’ means to regulate or lengthen. Prana is the vital energy needed by our physical and subtle layers, without which the body would perish.

It is what keeps us alive. Pranayama is the control of prana through the breath. These techniques rely on breathing through the nostrils.

Anulom Vilom Pranayama Yoga: 

Anu roughly translates as with and Loma means hair implying "with the grain" or "natural". It is the opposite of Viloma Prāṇāyāma which means against the grain.

Bahaya Pranayama Yoga: 

Bahya Pranayama is miraculous breathing exercise for all stomach organs. Hernia, diabetes, uterus and prostate problems are affected.

Bharamari Pramayama Yoga: 

Bhramari pranayama is very effective in instantly calming your mind down. It is one of the best breathing exercises to release the mind of agitation, frustration or anxiety and get rid of anger.

    Very good content. Terrific explanations. The reason for the 3 stars is to encourage the developers to make that good app even better - they are missing an opportunity. When you are doing a Kapalbhati, it has a rhythm of "x" exhalations per minute. Similarly, Bhastrika has a timed inhalation and a timed exhalation for maximum benefit. If they could include that feature of rhythm in their simple timer with sound - and charge for it - it would earn 6 stars!!

    Timer is the common timer available in all mobiles. Not a useful app for practising pranayama. Steps on how to pranayama is given.

    App is informative. However the timer is not useful. We can used stop watch in phones instead. If alongwith timer, there were step by step audio instructions it would be good.
