Reviews From google play store

Love all the features! But one big problem is many times when I click a tab such as "Subscriptions" or "Downloads," it takes FOREVER for the page to load. Many times I just exit the app and enter it again so I get out of "refreshing" hell. Not sure if it's just my phone. But this frequently-occurring slow loading takes away from all the great things about the app.

I've used this app for over 3 years and love it. Within the last couple of weeks, the app has started to act strange - playback is choppy or stops altogether - when the app isn't open and on top. Other than this, I would give it 5 stars. Update: with help from the developer I found a setting on my phone causing the above. The app now works flawlessly and I've updated to a 5.

I like this app and have used for years, but it uses my mobile data even though I have everything set to wifi. (I turn off my mobile data when I use this app so it doesn't use data.) Please fix this!! There is no reason to use my mobile data unless wifi is not available. Update: Developer is responsive to emails which is great! He's looking into the data usage issue. In the meantime, I am using NetGuard app and that has helped curb the data use.

Best podcast app I've used yet! Tried a lot of them, and all of them had some sort of glitch or random occasional issue with playback. But haven't had any issues with this so far. And it's really easy to navigate compared to others! Google Play Pass was worth it just for this alone ๐Ÿ˜

Love it, despite the adds on free mode. The suggestion podcast portion doesnt seem to work well for me. That why there podcast adds inside of podcasts, and word of mouth. I miss the mp3 management feature they had but it was buggy. It was removed. Very flexible and a lot of settings if you dont like the standard settings.

The developer is doing this app too well. They have lots of features and are expecting what users will want. I'm a developer myself and I'm fascinated by the quality of this app! It deserves more than 5 stars review. There negative reviews are probably stupid users not knowing how to use any app.

Smooth operation, no problems accessing podcasts, and episodes are all arranged and displayed for easy access. The interface is intuitive, and there are lots of added functionality for managing playlists and so on. My go to podcast app

I have tried a few podcast apps, this is the best one I've found for android. There are several sorting functions in each podcast list, auto play on next episode, 15s ff and rewind, sleep timer, etc. I find that this app has all the essentials I need!

Since the Pocket Casts update debacle, I've been looking for a new podcast app to switch to. Today I think I've found what I was looking for. And you can even add premium podcasts, something Pocket Casts never allowed. Way to go!

great app. return to it every time I get a new phone. easy helpful useful Used it for like 5 years now. Love it. Suggestion to devs: having an account that remembers my subs and settings would be tight for when people get new phones. Nbd but would be nice.

Using the app for its RSS for a paid, expanded podcast and it works great. Streams fairly seamlessly. Only thing is that it says there's no wi-fi to resume an episode when I have a full wi-fi signal displaying. Then I have to unlock my phone and press play in the app.

Great podcast app, been using it since Pocket Casts' horrible UI change. Only problem with this app is that it absolutely chews through battery, worse than YouTube somehow even though it's only audio.

Have been Using this app for years and it's great and keeps getting better. Easy to use easy to navigate. Have used a few other big name apps but this one by far is my favorite.

Well thought out design, good implementation. Love the virtual podcast feature. Only petpeeve is the control in notification center often not responsive or super slow. Otherwise, fantastic!

I have used this app for many years and used to love it , it was simple to use, I could download podcasts I enjoy, I love the sleep timer. It has only become more complicated, the playback always goes to the most recently downloaded podcast even when you're trying to play podcasts in a list, and most frustrating is this recent audio advertising that is not only in the beginning but the middle of the podcast. This is a deal breaker for me and I am looking for a new app.

I've struggled to find a podcast app that meets my needs. Every time I think I've found the one the app "updates" and breaks, or it's missing a critical setting, or it becomes a pay wall app. Then i was told about Podcast Republic. It's been several months and it has not given me issues, even through poor cell service, crappy Wi-Fi, and a new phone. Thank you, Podcast Republic.

So far so good. Switched from CastBox, because I get the premium version of this through Play Pass. Has a fine method for discovering new shows & has the shows I listen to. Used to CastBox but this seems to at least do everything the other does, & it also adds RSS feeds which is great. It's organized well/easy to navigate, good playback options, everything necessary for a good Podcast app. Plus, it's on Play Pass so I can skip the $3.99/3 months I paid for premium features in CastBox!

I like this podcast app. Not as much content as Podbean, but has a more practical interface and less invasive downloading options.

This is the best podcast app that I've ever tried. What I like MOST is that I can set up various playlists - I have a "run" and a "drive" and a "housework" and "recommended by my daughter" (and other) playlists. I just love this. I also really enjoy how I can tag podcasts for certain moods - "history" and "humor" and "interview" and so forth. One app can have many tags. Brilliant. I can select my listens by moods. I can even sort out the tag list so that humor is on top, or whatever I want. This app is so customisable, it's crazy. Also, fabulous. Thanks so much for making this app, kind folks at Podcast Republic! It truly is a brilliant app.

Simple, functional, and well supported. Probably the app I use most aside from a browser.

Good functionality, but there's still some space left for improvement in the UI area.

Really liking this app. Does everything I need it to. Can't pause/play from lock screen though which is the reason for 4/5 stars.

Tiesto Club Life is being recognised as a video Podcast. If I press back button, the app crashes. I don't use video podcasts. Can there be a permanent setting to only play as audio, I need to change this every single time. Would like to hide the new and unnecessary media player button arrangement (sleep timer, like, playback speed, next and menu)

Great app! Sometimes there are burps, but that happens with growth (and SO many fantastic features!). I like that these people LISTEN, and respond to "our" issues or feedback. Would you please add a "Notes" icon next to the 'heart' FAVORITES icon. I have to check ALL of my episodes to see if I have notes, before deleting them. If I'm missing something already there, please excuse this. Happy holidays Podcast Republic, (and 'Republic-ans' lol)!

Things are changed WAY to often via updates in this app. This last update was the final straw for me. I don't want to be forced to use a playlist like format. I can't even see which podcasts i follow any more. Just one long gross list of episodes of all podcasts by time. I don't need much from a podcast app. Ability to find, download and adjust playback speeds... That's it! Why make it so complicated?! Uninstalled.

Nice set of features. Been using it for podcasts exclusively for the past few years.

Coming from WP10 and the wonderful Podcast Lounge, I've I tried the top 6 or 8 podcast apps on Android. This is by far the most feature rich - one can do most anything with it AND one can tweak it in a bajillion ways. The ability to make highly customizable, auto-forming, and self-cleaning playlists rocks. The car mode is super, too. After extensive setup, daily use is fine. However, even after several weeks of daily use, I still find any deviation from my normal use demands undue effort.

I used Stitcher for years, and I'm so mad at myself for not exploring the options earlier. So many little things make This app better. Example: it remembers your playback speed per-podcast. I listen to most at 1.3x, but there are some fast-talkers I like to hear at 1.2x, and some slowpokes I like at 1.5, and some relaxing sleep podcasts I like at 1.0x. On Stitcher, I had to change this manually every time. PR just remembers. Awesome.

App is intuitive & easy to navigate and has a lot of settings so you can customize it to however you listen to podcasts. I like that the app opens to the podcasts I listen to instead of featured ones that I don't care about. All the other apps I tried first (there were several!) either had limited user options or were just confusing to navigate. No complaints yet on this one!

This is a very nice app. I've been a long time pocket casts user and just decided to play around with some new apps and recheck the market. With that said, my biggest complaint is that the mini play menu should be customizable - I don't want the skip to next track button there, I want easy access to the Fast forward X seconds button. Otherwise I very much like the app and find it to be very good competition to pocket casts, I like how it handles the 'up next' playlist mores then pocket casts.

I generally like this app, but there are a few things that make it no fun at all. For example, if I find a new podcast the only way I can listen to it is on Wi-Fi, it doesn't let me stream using my data plan. It also doesn't retain the information about whether I have listened or not to an episode, so even if I manually mark an episode as "listened to" it will still play it next. Sometimes I need to browse through many episodes that I had already heard until I find a new one.

After going from podcast player to podcast player, I finally ended my search with this one, and it is perfect for my needs! Previous players I've tried have had a 'download' option but ended up still using a ton of cell phone data, and Spotify had issues with AutoPlay when reconnecting to my headphones or car. Podcast Republic has a true 'Offline' download, and will warn you when it is using data, which is a must for me, and the AutoPlay works flawlessly.

i like this podcatcher a bunch. it has all the podcasts itunes has, it downloads clear quality audio, and the UI is super handy and flexible. i like it and i'm not getting rid of it. the bad news is i paid the little fee to get rid of ads, and once i paid that, Podcast Republic started playing audio ads in between podcasts. this only gets under my skin cause i paid for ad-free and there's ads anyway. its just irritating like come on PR, you're better than that. great podcatcher besides that

For me, the whole user experience could be summarized as "annoying". This already starts when I have to define a download location. Normally, apps give you the choice between internal memory or card. But I do not think it is convenient to ask the user to choose a path and create a new folder. This is something the app should manage in the background. Second, maybe it's the German translation but I do not understand the description and therefore the difference between the automatic and the smart download. Also, if you choose one of these options, it asks you, if it should activate it for all podcasts. But even if you answer this question with "yes", the settings of the existing podcasts still have downloading disabled. No setting whatsoever managed to download an episode automatically but the app still reports "no problem". And as the whole interface is so cluttered and confusing (at least for me), I gave up after some hours and uninstalled it.

Love this app. Very user friendly and pretty easy to use. My one complaint is that every time i download it i have to go in and change a bunch of default settings so im able to play and download off of wifi. Its a little more frustrating each time. I honestly wish the orginal settings were switched so if i truly decided not to use data i could decide myself. Otherwise i really enjoy the app.

While I appreciate that they decided to go for making almost everything customizable, it added too much complication. I don't know what the difference between a Playlist is and Up Next, which means that I cant always get something to play that I want, or things play from my Playlist and then start again in Up Next. And trying to download a podcast in my car was exasperating because there are too many settings to look through to find the one that allows me to download when my battery was low - even though I was charging. Never found that one. The flow did not work for me, maybe it will for you.

This is my only podcast app apart from sometimes using Google play. It's functional and I can always find a good podcasts. I would complain that the interface is not streamlined to my use, although I don't know how they could improve it. The default is such that podcasts tend to play in reverse chronological order, and if you're catching up on an older podcast and there's several hundred episodes, you have to go all the way down the list to find where you left off.

Well my favorite podcast player has turned to unusable. After months of emails and bug reports I still run into the problem where after about 20 minutes of playback the podcast Inam listening to starts to stutter and then stop and the app crashes. This is the only app that does this and no other audio or podcast app had this problem. I wish I didn't pay for the premium version as now am a Podcast Addict app user.

Has most advanced features for podcasts, but goes beyond to also handle radios and RSS feeds. Interface comes with bottom toolbar but still has a bunch of menus at the top, so it feels cluttered, the right hand operation is nice and unique, has EQ, silence trim, folder select, caches the show notes on device for all episodes, seek jump input, delayed deletion, but locked at 24h and extended search results, rare on these.

I can't think how you could improve the app. Really enjoying the podcasts I'm accessing. I had to uninstall the app after being a long term user then reinstall after that it has been reinvigorated and worked very well as it did but now much better than when I first installed the app. Thanks and regards.

Great app - I use it to access several hundred subscribed podcasts and now that I discovered the tagging system, managing it all is a cinch and means a no-brainer 5 stars from me. App is the best downloader and storer of any of the several dozen podcast apps I've used - important especially as I live in a place with a national firewall and many apps don't handle disconnects well. A stable app to boot.

All the features I was looking for. I tried a few podcast apps and each of them had something that wasn't quite what I was looking for. This one has every feature I wanted. There is also the option to enable/disable features to customize to how I want to listen. There are ads but they displayed in such a way as to not be intrusive.

In general, for the style of podcatcher UIs i like, PR is less buggy, and has more features! I find this style interface gives you more control than Stitcher or Spotify. PR has a very similar UI to PodcastAddict and DoggCatcher, but so far it's more stable and allows more customization with less time spent managing things. I subscribe to 102 podcasts, so efficiency is important. I like that it uses opml files and allows storage on a custom folder (I put mine on an SD card).

This is the best podcast app. I have tried a lot. And I have used this one exclusively for a long time. Not sure how long but I've been using it for years, since it used to have a different name. Absolutely the best. Every other app I try doesn't have the right features and doesn't help me find my podcasts so easily.

Two reasons to love this free podcast app. Firstly I was able to add bonus episodes of 'What a time to be alive' podcast by adding the URL I got when I signed up on Patreon . Secondly, this app works flawlessly on Android Auto. I mostly use Spoitify (Premium) but Podcast Republic (Free) works just as good . So respect and keep it up PR. I would totally pay for this app , but I don't have to , so that's a thing ....

Of the podcast players I've tried, this is the best. Enormously configurable, which can mean there's a learning curve while you get it to work the way you want, but the in-app FAQs are very helpful.

I have updated my review from a 4 star to 5 star. My issue was resolved. I love the app and the organization. It is clean and easy to use and podcast episodes are kept up to date (in some cases even faster than iTunes). Which, as a podcast host, I love.

I've been using this app for a few years now. Adds are present but unobtrusive and sometimes actually of value. Navigation is fairly easy and it works flawlessly on and off line. It's even pretty easy to port in your own unsubcription materials. The online help pages were easy to understand and useful.

Enjoying it so far. I like that Podcast Republic supports password-protected feeds (such as Wrestling Observer/Figure 4 Weekly), and I'm digging all of the individual feed settings (you can replace the feed art with your own, which is great for feeds that use the same photo by default).

Scrolling is BROKEN. I cannot take a podcast from the beginning or end and place it in the middle. I have tried contacting the developer multiple times on Twitter, and only got a response once. I'm done dealing with this issue and will simply leave this one star review. Very sad as this is an otherwise perfect app, with all the features I want and no additional bloat. But the scrolling issue renders it unusable.

The single most irritating app I've ever used, unreliable, frequently crashes and occasionally locks up phone with looped processes.

I've tried several podcast apps and this one is by far my favorite! It has more options for personal organization and maintaining downloads. Very user friendly and I just love all I can do with it!

I have tried several other podcast apps. Beyonpod (didnt allow playlists and crashed) Castbox (cant remember why I didnt like it) podcast republic just works how I want it too and doesnt crash. I opted to purchase so no ads (was the only thing that bugged me so I took care of it).

I still get the frustrating experience of opening the app hoping to play the latest episode of my favorite podcast only to find it is not downloaded so I have to wait till I am back in network range. Honestly is this so hard to get right? Just download stuff when it becomes available already.

Been my main Podcast app for years. It's fantastic, especially the ad-free version. However, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, swap the Fast Forward button and the Skip button back around please. I don't know whose idea this update was, but it's infuriating.

I really like this app. I casually tried a few podcast apps when I started listening regularly, and this one seems to be the best for my needs. I like that it has a widget, I can control it from my bluetooth earbuds, and I can add the controls to the notification bar.

I like this app it's simple to use and has loads of stuff to listen to.

Great podcast app. I love the search for episodes titles and that I can move to the next podcast episode from my car wheel controls. For whatever reason it does not go to the prior episode, I hope they will fix. Other than that is definetely my #1 on my Samsung.

I use Podcast Republic almost every day. I love that it downloads over WiFi at home so it plays consistently and without using data on my long drives to and from school. Reliable and easy to navigate.

Good until the list update. Kept freezing on its own. Please fix this.

Great Show! Listen all the time! Very insightful! They need to do a better job of speaking into the microphone when talking. Hard to hear the content sometimes. Also when callers call in, check the line ahead of time for line quality. Guests are impossible to hear when they call in. Other than that, top notch!!

Great way of downloading podcasts. Some nice features.

Great podcast player. One small irritation is if headphones are unplugged during payback and then plugged back in the volume is set to max on auto resume. Would be good to keep the volume the same.

The interface is very cluttered and hard to navigate, but I managed to make this thing behave. Has too many settings for its own good. It might be the better podcast app from the whole bunch available on the play store.

This is the BEST podcast app I've ever used (6 so far). It has all the features I've come to like in other apps with thus far no down sides or cons. I wish I'd found this sooner.

This is the most comprehensive and well-made podcast app I've come across. I'm yet to figure out how to make the skip forwards/backwards controls work when the screen is locked but other than that, it is head and shoulders above the rest.

Very powerful sorting and filtering abilities. Very stable. Unobtrusive ads. Highly configurable. I have only been using it for a week but it has all the beloved features that my previous app kept taking away.

Great podcatcher, and has radio also. The playlist plays in order from oldest to newest which is so much more convenient than trying to listen to stuff on spotify etc, the notes features and bookmarks and the like are also great little additions. Thanks!

slightly odd app navigation choices that might take a while to figure out exactly what you're doing and how to get there....otherwise excellent app for podcasts.

Was a great app, but has become very buggy since latest update. Frequently will disconnect from chromecast device and freeze up when trying to restart, no longer automatically downloads episodes unless the app is open, and often resets episodes from the beginning when restarting the app.

I am downgrading from 5 to 3 stars.I have been using this app for many years. Recently I had to re-install the app... Not clean any more. Ads that weren't there are now right at the bottom where all the operating buttons are. Distracting and confusing.... Not clean any more... sad.

All players I have tried make it really difficult for new podcasts to download and play automatically. This one was a bit tricky to setup but now new podcasts are automatically downloaded and play. Very pleased.

Re: Blue/Green circles: I don't need to know how many episodes are unplayed. I want that number to show how many episodes I have downloaded.

Anyone who recommends this has no demands for their podcasts whatsoever and is probably fine just flipping on the radio and listening to whatever is on. The is an absolute dogshit podcast app. Impossible interface, sometimes impossible to even access a progress bar to skip forward or backward in a given podcast. Incomprehensible interface for someone who simply wants their podcast subscriptions to update with the latest episodes and keep them until they've listened to them.

The app downloads your podcasts and easily lets you access the whole feed so you can binge listen without internet access. Also lets you build playlists and play at different speeds.

I like it so far but I can't figure out how to rewind podcasts. Seems like a key feature? I spent 15 minutes poking through the apo and reading the faq but I'm stumped - maybe they don't have it.

Really good app, with lots of options to help you listen to your podcasts the way you want. There's a little bit of a learning curve (nothing horrible) which some other reviewers plainly haven't tried to tackle before lashing out!

Chose it because it works with Android Auto. Kept it because I enjoy its functionality. I like to download episodes over WiFi and play them in the car data free. Then I have then set to auto delete after played. Keeps my phone clean.

I come to Podcast Republic after Pocketcasts became unusable with its 2019 updates. This is a great podcast app, very customizable and it's been super reliable for me over the last few months. I'd love a paid version without ads.

It's mostly intuitive to navigate, there are several ways to order the playlist. I miss a "download all episodes" button, but I don't know if this is lacking for a reason

I only use this app for subscriber podcast feeds since spotify doesn't support private RSS feeds. The UX feels slow and clunky., app crashes fairly often on a galaxy s10, even after changing the default wifi settings podcasts will randomly just not load. Overall the app does it job, it's just not fun to use.

I downgraded PodcastRepublic from 4 to two stars because the app, despite the settings, does not download the latest episodes consistently, causing me to miss listening to my podcasts during my commute. Tech 'no- support' was just that, ... no help.

Best podcast app. I use it several hours a day, everyday to listen to my favourite podcasts. The only thing I would add is a pc internet browser version linked to the phone app to catch up where i left.

User friendly with sensible settings that make listening in the car easy

S8. This is just a really great podcast app. It's easy to subscribe to a podcast (or use its RSS feed to subscribe), create and edit playlists, and sort playback as you please.

Great app. Many useful features. It is a bit cumbersome to navigate. Update, I am very much enjoying the app. It does everything I need from a podcast app.

I'd say it's one of the better podcast apps out there, the only thing that could really make it amazing is syncing play time on their browser site so I can continue from my PC, etc.

Love the app, can be a little tricky to find podcasts (search function is a little clunky) and the UI could be improved for simplicity but over all this is a great podcast app.

I've tried many apps and this one is the most complete of all. I specially like being able to use a podcast as a wake up alarm.

Love it. Works perfect and has all my podcasts!

Best podcast app on Android. I have been looking for something as good as this for a while now. Love the UI and was well worth the couple of quid to disable the ads.

This app runs effectively, has minimal distractions from ads, and keeps podcasts up to date. I have been very pleased with the performance and recommend it.

Great app for downloading and listening to podcasts amd some online radio stations. It could use some improvement with the search function and the in-app rating system.

All podcasts can be found here. It always works.

Easy to use. Wide selection of podcasts.

This is the ultimate podcast app. I love the way it looks but the main reason I'll continue using it is that it gives me all the options I could possibly ask for. I love the customization.

Solid podcast app that's easy to use. Love it!

Multiple devices use one account, so it's easy to keep all my stories in order. Love it.

paid for the premium version...works well overall but often when I hit the cast icon it jumps to the next track.

It's broken, you have to stop and reload the podcast because it gets stuck in a loop. Even when the podcast is downloaded it gets messed up. The player is jacked.
