Will not play any music. Won't sync. Often crashes. Usually won't even connect to the server. Skips every song and flashes an error saying unable to play item. Error shows on screen even after force closing the app. Have to restart phone to get rid of it. Then repeat... Nothing works. Some days, magically, it will be ok, but still not great.

apk I always wanted to be able to hear the music on my computer at different places but I never could figure that out. Now with Plex I can load things into my server on my main computer and anywhere I have internet I can listen to it. I have it on my TV, on my phone, and on my tablet. Any file I have on my computer I can have on Plex. There is so much content available with Plex Pass, which is only a few bucks a month, I have not seen it all. Podcasts, news, etc. I love it.

Every time there is a major update, many small things go wrong and the accumulation is really annoying. The last update on Android TV broke my homepage and reset my preferences, the highlight for the selected episode in a season is barely visible. When you reach the lastest episode it displays it as "up next". Too many things are obviously untested with each update. It is still a good app but doesn't deserve 5 stars until they figure out how to properly test basic functionnalities.

If you're using this in conjunction with your Plex media server, you're gonna have a great time! I don't use the phone app the watch anything as I haven't yet splashed out for the premium package (don't really have a need to), but to use as a remote while I watch on my PC/PS4/PS3, it works like a dream

  5. Steven Gardner-avatar

The app works well in conjunction with Plex server. I am now able to stream my media library wherever I go. My only complaint is that sometimes it won't save my location on movies. Often this happens when I am transitioning between a WiFi network and 4G, so it may be related to that. Other than this issue I have no complaints. It is a well organized and well thought out application.

No matter how many times I turn on the automatic play feature, once it stops the first time I can never get it to start automatically playing again. I have to go into settings and disable and re-enable it to auto play 3 episodes again.

For a paid app, this is horrible. And it's the app that's horrible, Plex in general is working fine for me, for example in a browser on a desktop computer. The app often crashes or locks up and asks to either wait or force stop it. It often also just stops responding in an anticipated way and effectively locks up, requiring a force stop through the settings. The worst part of it? It SOOOOO often just simply stops playing music mid way through a song. If you're quick enough you can open up the app, press pause and play and it will continue. If you're too late, it will start the song from the beginning. It usually does that on a bad connection, but it has OFTEN done this for me sitting on a table with a strong WiFi signal, so it is the app that is at fault. Want to go back to the previous song? Be prepared to press back ~10 times as the player will skip back to the next song in the list, the one you were trying to skip back from. Even though it does show the previous song, it automagically displays and starts playing the next one again. Android 11 and the notification shade player controls? In ~30 hours of phone uptime I currently have 3 players from Plex with only the last one (first one in the list) actually displaying playback controls with the other two just cards showing me a random song that was played last before the app decided the playback controls aren't relevant anymore? Pressing on any dead playback control just throws me to the app with the song that's actually on the playlist. And it IS the app as NONE of these issues happen with the browser app on a computer. The performance of Plex over there is flawless. Plex overall is awesome as it enables me to chromecast things to the TV from my server without any fancy apps, devices or anything, with the much nicer control interface to actually search for the content (the phone) compared to a TV remote. And then you just fling it over. It enables me to listen to my music basically anywhere. But these issues with the Android app are aggrivating.

  8. MOD1T MOD1T-avatar

it's great but the adverts are ramping the volume 3 time louder than the regular movie viewing volume you need to stop that happening therefore 3 stars until you make the adverts play same volume level as the movie, all it does is force people to wear out the volume button on their remote control via overutilization of the volume buttons, and the number of adverts dropping is too much.

  9. Troy Prill-avatar

Great base app for a centralized 'Bring Your Own Media's platform, but missing a few key elements. Songs should be able to be filtered by BPM. The 'Related Artists' feature is cool, but we need to be able to build playlists off of that information. Podcasts seem to be pretty half done. Example: Freakonomics only populates the most recent 23 podcasts. Why not let us see all of those (and download them)? Movies and TV are well done.

  10. Patrick Robertson-avatar

    Patrick Robertson

Lacks polish in a few key areas to make this app really stand out. Podcast playback/downloading is really buggy, and the app struggles when offline or over unreliable cell networks. Plex need to focus on fixing these core issues before adding more things to the (already very long!) feature list.

  11. Elliot Leonard Price-avatar

    Elliot Leonard Price

Edit: new update, still same problems. Plex pass is worthless. Offline sync doesn't work at all, generating errors for every song in the album or playlist when trying to play synced music when online or offline. When server is online the app works nice (for all music that is not synced)... but that part of Plex is free... none of the paid stuff works.

I use plex as video player for movies here and there but also been using it as as daily music player with terrible experience with some many issues below it makes this plex terrible, its like it got stuck in beta for years without any progress. Issues: 1. Offline mode, get loading message when trying to play sync’d files 2. When an incoming call comes, i answer and after ending it, the plex app disappears from notification and therefore doesn't auto start playing 3. Random crashes, no error, nothing, it just as if it wasn’t open 4. Sometimes controls from notification panel or within player won’t work and plex will just keep playing 5. Sometimes it won’t register my Bluetooth headphones play, skip track commands, if I open another music player and try play it receives all commands. 6. It doesn’t cache album artwork well, tends to show default artwork till you press on album and it connects 7. Sometimes it will play but no sound would come out, even skipping track or loading another album

Best not to use Plex, they strip features to force you to subscribe. Don't update and improve on things you want and only add random garbage. Jellyfin is much better then Plex, I regret having a year subscription to this nonsense. Thanks for removing the ability to listen to MY MUSIC to when in offline mode because you want to force people into your Plex pass only app. the developer cuts content to force people into yet another subscription for tidal In this app. What a joke

This app is unable to play back a video if a srt subtitle is selected. Not about displaying it, it can't playback the video at all. To bad, it was promising but unusable like this. I cancel my subscription.

love plex but i feel they have lost there way. They like many business have forgotten what was making them number one. they have forgotten what direction to go. If i want a streaming TV app i would get one , the same goes with integrated movies. It clutters the look and feel of the app. It confuses people and if your are dead set on keeping those things they should be there own app. Concentrate on the the flagship app and make it like no other. Would love the plex TV or PlexMovies app.

Getting better and better with every release but still a long ways off. If you have a large media library you will experience MANY crashes. The gallery viewer/media player also leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully with time these will improve and I will raise my review score.

Use this app all the time and will continue even with the couple problems it has. Fix these for a 5 star review. Problems using Pixel 3xl: Android 11 media from drop menu keeps adding new players. Need device restart or I'll end up with 20 players. Casting content that should start where left off sometimes restarts. I haven't been able to figure out a pattern, but happens about 1/5 times. Casting sometimes disconnects and won't reconnect without restarting media being played.

Clunky cluttered interface. I have honestly lost track of how many times I have accidentally closed this app using the back button. It is difficult to navigate to my personal server. That should really be the first choice, not an afterthought that is buried down in the menu. Overall I am happy with Plex. I just hate the Android UI. It is overly complicated. At least give us the ability to turn things off.

My own personal Netflix. Imagine a streaming service, accessible anywhere there's an internet connection available, that only has stuff you want to watch. That's what you can have with Plex. I've set up my NAS at home and I use Plex to manage my media. I have also shared my media with friends around the world and they can stream to Plea as well. So far, live only used the free version but will upgrade to PlexPass soon for even more features.

App works pretty well on some devices, but it's unusable on others (keeps hanging, crashing, losing Wi-Fi connections). But even when working, they still need to improve the Live TV & DVR functionality! There's A LOT of little DVR improvements that users have been asking for FOR YEARS! The DVR feature is the most valuable part IMO. Most of the other third party add-ons are mostly useless to me - either old or obscure nonsense.

I use Plex to play movies from a home network storage device, and to play my local music. I run a Plex server on an old Linux laptop, and this Plex client runs great on my Android devices, Windows and Linux laptops, HiSense Android TV, and Roku. One notable feature is that it lets you allow friends who also run Plex to watch your media from their home, and vice versa. Love it. I don't use the free movies and shows that Plex provides.

This app it's dependable, works really well. Having good upstream internet connection on your home network is imperative to having good mobile stream quality. I can watch live TV in HD, with really good quality on my phone from anywhere. The Plex channels are a bonus. Plex is one of those apps, you start to wonder why you didn't install earlier. My reason was simple - I got into the connected home game recently and if that's your thing with a lot of media - jump right into Plex. It works awesome for my music and movies with my Roku, Firestick, Chromecast audio devices and more. When we have movie night at home, people ask whether Plex is like a Apple TV / Netflix provider - because the meta data and intuitive UI organization is second to none. In fact even at work where Spotify services are blocked, I can access Plex easily and stream my music while working in my bubble. I have also created sharing options for friends and family - sometimes we watch movies together - thousands of miles apart. This is the first thing you should get if you own a NAS that supports Plex. I rated Plex 5 stars, but my real rating is a 4.5 star rating. I took away half a star due to the costs - Plex Pass or App installation on mobile devices charge a premium, over $100 at the time of writing this (For Plex Pass) to get use all their advanced features. If it was $50 I would be inclined to do so, but the free version suits my needs for now. Get Plex. It works. Meanwhile I'll wait for Plex to throw us a bone of a half off coupon someday :)

  48. Robert Myers-avatar

Absolutely terrible and frustrating experience. Chews through data unnecessarily, and have no idea why (and neither do they apparently, based on the forums.) Downloads and syncing is atrocious. Supposedly synced content will not play, or sometimes stop playing with the dreaded yellow spinning circle in the middle of the video. For some reason the synced content bounces around in its status from synced back to the syncing process. Cannot believe I paid for this.

  49. Haden Odom-avatar

Very unintuitive. Several minutes in, and I still don't see content from my local plex server in the app. Tried putting in my server's information under manual connections in the settings, and it still shows me content from some other location. Then it pops up and wants me to pay 5 bucks for something called Plex Pass - very odd, since the whole point of plex is self-hosting. So why does your app make it so hard to connect to my plex server, and try to make me pay for someone else's server?

  50. Mireya Hardy-avatar

    Mireya Hardy

Easily the most glitchy app I have ever used. It used to be pretty good but over the years, it's progressively gotten so much worse. The search function is practically useless. It's constantly throwing errors or just not working at all! Years ago the app was intuitive to use but now, they have made a simple task extremely complicated. The fact that the search function barely works is the most egregious problem. Fix that and at least I can deal with the other annoyances.

  51. Anthony-avatar

Few years ago this would have been 5 stars. But now after an update about a year ago, you can no longer use on media sever without an internet connection and DLNA does not work. Being active military deployed with server up to 8 months a year I have no internet and can not use the server portion. Half the country still has no stable internet, to force this is unacceptable! Half the community is upset about this issue and plex refuses to listen! No longer support or endorse this app or software!

I love the app and use it across multiple platforms. One thing I hate is how it handles vobsub/pgs subs. They display fine on my tablet and phone but don't display using a roku. For the roku I have to try to find srt subs. This is a huge pain. Also, the LG plex app built in to their TV's STILL after years has the same problem of being able to watch something in HDR or using subs, but you can't do both. If you enable subs it switches from HDR back to SDR. This is a known issue for years!

  54. Nacho libre-avatar

Constant crashing, lots of syncing errors, very little control over the software, new features often have nothing to do with local media. I bought a plex pass a while ago for 100$ just for syncing my local media to my phone. It works like half of the time, getting stuck or giving error without skipping to the next one. There are soooo many feature requests and bug fixes from 5+ years ago that aren't going to be added. At least fix the bugs and crashes.

great app, couldn't live without it. recent update has made viewing episodes in a season frustrating. they've tried to make it the best of both worlds but it's really the worst of both. at least give us the option of deciding what view to use! more than just aesthetics however is that i can't see which episodes have multiple copies as you used to be able to. would also be nice to be able, like on the ps4, to be able to 'play version' when there are indeed different copies of an episode.

No way to disable crossfade when skipping tracks. Also, when using the scrollbar on the music page, the letters don't match up with what actually shows up on the page. Still a great solution to a self-owned music collection but there's work to be done on this app.

3 star because when I switch the "Automatically adjust quality", the buffering issue becomes worst. You'll have to switch it manually. As a plex pass subscriber, their services is not worthy to spend your money. bunch of issues and limitations you'll encounter compare to its competitors. I tried Plex a few years ago and thought it had promise, but needed some work. More recently I tried it again, and have been very impressed. I use it the server on my pc to share pictures, music and videos to my LG webOS TV. The app works great also on my phone to remotely see my media. Plex is seemingly constantly in development, improving their software, adding more features and reliability. I will be using them for a long time. Keep up the great work!

Use this app to stream media from my computer to mobile and tablet. Works great and better than any alternative I know. I'm not amazingly tech savvy but managed to work out the basics fairly easily. Some things I can't figure out though. A TV series I have 5 seasons of, 1 season is in the movies section. It's stored in exactly the same way as the other seasons. Also the auto identification it does is great, but when it doesn't work I can't edit. Playback on app doesn't resume where you left off.

  62. Matthew Shapiro-avatar

The UI has been updated to strip out features, while also changing the flow to try upselling their own service, even for paid users. Why can't I see ep summaries in the season view anymore?! No longer can you tap on an actor's name to see other films in your collection in which they appear. No longer can you see the size and bitrate of your videos. Instead, they made the interface more "flashy", while removing -- for no apparent reason -- some of the most useful features. Frankly, it's a waste.

Plex is a great app to store your media on a server and easily have access to it on whatever device that has the app or can use the web app. I recently bought Plex Pass for the 2nd time and planning on buying a third month. I really enjoy the app and all of its extra features. As of making this post, I've been having an issue with playing back synced media and the app crashes. (I've only tested this on Android.) Other than that, this is a really great app and I recommend it.

Pretty awesome to be able to access my music and video collection remotely, give access to friends and family, and take advantage of the free content Plex is serving, too. Once we were able to upgrade to a fiber-based ISP, Plex was supercharged. It's the upload speed that makes a difference. Overall, having access to my NAS from anywhere is amazing and the app is nice and intuitive.

Audio doesn't work at all, the voices are mute. It's been an ongoing issue with no help from Plex. I guess that's the danger of buying a "lifetime" subscription, you don't get the help you deserve. Response to your reply:. It's been on the forums for YEARS with no response. I found it right away, so if you can't even find it on your forums you have bigger issues than just Android audio issues I guess. Edit: I'm not sure how you're not able to replicate the issue when it's all over your forums

Audio playlists work fine until you sync them. Then they fail to play. Playlists stop randomly, repeat tracks other times, forget their place when exiting. Sometimes the app will continue in the background, sometimes it doesn't. No pattern to the actions at all. This app seems to have been developed in a rush. Having to pay for it is an insult. I'm looking into other option. If you know of any that allow friends to also access your content, please contact me Blairchurchill at Gmail.

Chromecasting for music is broken. If you are connected to the Chromecast device after loading up your queue or having a queue already set (even just a single album) the music will not play until you disconnect from the Chromecast device, empty the queue, reconnect to the Chromecast device and set up the queue again. This means that if playback ever stops while chromecasting, it is very likely that music will be unplayable and you'll have to repeat that process. Long running issue.

Perfect for my own server. Not sure why so many are complaining since I haven't had a single issue with the app on mobile or on my roku tv. I created my own server, linked it to my tv, done. Everything is organized, plays perfectly, nothing is cluttered, and I can add friends if I wanted to.

Tried to use it in Android Auto (as a replacement for Google Play Music which is going away) and it's a disaster: 1. Forget playing your music if it isn't in the 'Recently added' or 'Recently played' lists (no way to select an album, artist, or song otherwise). 2. It never resumes where I left off so every time I have to tap through multiple layers of menus to get back to the recently played album, which then starts over with the very first song. 3. It only shows music that I've synched to the device via Plex. Any songs that exist on the device's own storage or SD card are simply ignored. 4. If you play a single song and it ends, the app just dies. You can't do anything any more until you switch to a different music app and then back (all while you're supposed to focus on driving).

Some films are out of sync with voice of the actors which I find very annoying👎😕. Just updating my first review and after several weeks of not being on Plex I find it a little worse than before. Not that I'm interested that much about the ads I find that even they are being affected with problems. Sometimes the ads play just with the sound if anything at all. Sometimes parts of the film are a bit jerky too so instead of three stars I'm going to give it two. 😒

TBH its fantastic when it works. Truly. I'm connected 2 my brother's server in Tokyo and I'm in London. He has a great collection. My only gripe is it's not consistent. I'll be watching a movie and all of a sudden it will skip and its jumped 45 mins into the flick. I have watched without interruptions but unfortunately more with. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the distance? Logically I think 2 myself it shouldn't? I'm not a tech person but wouldnt that be irrelevant?

Provides more frustration than entertainment. The first problem is a bad server connection no matter what kind of internet connection you have! I've seen the yellow running circle for up to 15 minutes with a perfectly good internet connection! The second problem is the ads. You are already watching a show on Plex, yet it keeps advertising itself! How idiotic is that?! Do they pay themselves to show their own ads?! The same ads also keep repeating over and over and they are not interest-based.

  76. Hello-avatar

So I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews here and I'm not sure why. It does what it says it does, has constant updates, and is always fixing bugs. Is it as great as Netflix? Well that entirely depends on your server and what you load onto it. Connection issues? Read their FAQ, it's VERY detailed. If youre still having issues it's genuinely not the apps fault. Been using it for 2+ years.

Unstable and buggy. Struggles to handle video files split into parts, regardless of Plex file naming convention being followed. Some videos had the incorrect length and stop early. Zero codec support as Plex's version of ExoPlayer is two years of out of date, Google will not accept bug reports on Plex's ExoPlayer version because it is not being kept up to date. Subtitles can often appear low quality and hard to read. Lots of improvement required.

6 months ago I wasn't really impressed with Plex, I found it a bit buggy and intermittent to use. But the Plex developers along with Users have really turned things around in the last couple of months. I'm not saying that there are no issues and that everything runs perfectly 100% of the time, but I believe Plex is the most advanced Streaming App out there (In my humble opinion). I downloaded the latest Plex for Android version yesterday ( and I was blown away with all the improvements the Developers have made. The biggest grumble I got from people about using Plex was that you couldn't see the cast and crew in TV Shows & Movies, that has been rectified now (2 thumbs up) Another improvement I and others I know like is the the changed TV Show layout. All the seasons and episodes are more accessible and easier to see, very nice. There are more improvements, but the 2 listed above are the ones I liked the most. Every App is a work in progress (No App is perfect), there are always going to be issues. If you find any, submit them to the Developers so that they know about them and hence can then work to resolve them. And No I'm not a Developer, I'm simply a User of this fine App.

Will not play more than one song or tv show at a time. If you want to see/hear the next thing you have close the app and reopen it each time. This problem that has been reported to Plex many times but they have never responded to any request for assistance.

Good concept but need some improvement, Well I like it and I use it but there isn't enough personalisation on the app and on the web server, you can't properly choose what you see in your home page, you can't make categories in categories, it has a really hard putting seasons of a series together even if thy are in the same folder named and numbered. But the biggest problem is that you can't really organize your server and your content and yes this is the best option but still need work.

Few bugs I've encountered for the past 2 months; -if I switch songs too quickly on my server, it will take a few minutes to catch up and load... Or often times crashes the software. -If I'm listening to music from my server in my car via Android auto, same as the first, as well as if I re-plug in my phone, and do not force close the Plex application... It doesn't work at all. Mostly to do with the music side of the server, essentially cannot be safely used while driving..

I think my favorite thing about Plex now days is the need to sign out and back in, just to get the interface working again. Otherwise, my phone can't ping my server. Oh, and resetting all my customizations, every time is cool too! The whole Plex ecosystem has been over engineered to the point of not working properly. Constant layout changes that aren't intuitive make things fun, too. Man, it used to be awesome. I miss the-Plex-that-was.

When and I emphasize when the movies play quality is excellent. I understand ads and revenue but literally every 10 to 15 minutes there's a series of 4 adds that attempt to play and locks up the movie, to where you have to restart the app and try to pick up where you left off. It sucks when it takes 2 and a 1/2 hours to watch a 90 minute movie.

I wanted a way to stream my video collection from my PC. I tried many other apps, most of them now defunct. This was always a step ahead of others. When they started going more mainstream I feared they would just get bloated and not add anything of substance but that has not been the case. I actually have watched many things from their streaming service and I made good use of their DVR function. This is the foundation block to any cord cutter while still working great if you don't.

Bought the Plex Pass and the Hdhomerun Quatro tuner. It's damn near as good of a DVR experience as my old Dish Hopper! Makes organizing all of my media simple and it looks great. The reason for 4 * is ONLY because- In folder view, on smart-tvs, would be good to have option to View files in list or detail view. Makes it much easier to see the folder at a glance, or find a file; rather than scrolling to the end. Currently, files appear in 2 rows, each row showing 6 files. But instead of scrolling up-down, it moves sideways. I personally find it a bit annoying as I use Plex more than 50% of the time, in a day.

I do have some issues here and there, hence the 4/5, but no big deal. Definitely recommend and I look forward to more updates, hopefully more frequent ones! Away from home it's about 50/50. Half the time it's ok, the other half it's aging without any sound coming out until I reboot the phone. Overall, Terrible. What's with the ads? Ads just for watching other stuff in plex over and over again. Sometimes they are blank so we watch a blank screen for a minute. Spending hours/days to try troubleshoot software you pay for every 3 months is for the dogs! Plex used to be good, but now it's a joke! Do you watch TV or movies? You should have Plex. It is that simple. You can just watch the free content that comes with it, watch content from a friend's server, or run your own server. If you have an old computer sitting around you should be running a Plex server. Keep all your media in one place and watch it anywhere. Why are you still reading this?? You should be downloading Plex by now. Get Plexamp if you like music and want to listen to full quality music instead of lossy mp3s.

"An error occurred while trying to play this item." That about sums up my experience with the Plex app for Android. This app works SOMETIMES, but you literally never know what is going to break next; only that inevitably something will. This latest set of "features" included an unlisted "benefit" which makes all synced content unplayable, and is the final straw for me with this half-baked amalgamation of garbage code that Plex dares to call an 'application'.

Keeps giving me alerts demanding that I buy the app over and over again otherwise it randomly stops working. There's no automated system for dealing with this persistent problem, it just prompts you to send an email and the response is completely unhelpful. Does not "play well" with Android Auto. With Google Play Music it would remember where I was in an album and resume play when Android Auto launched again. With Plex, this just does not happen. This is not a device memory issue, most recently the only thing I did between uses in the car was make a phone call but Plex just forgot where I was in an album. PLEASE FIX THIS! This is the worst experience I've ever had with a music and video streaming app. Buffering videos is horribly slow, and using the -10s or +30s buttons often freezes playback and the app needs to be restarted. Most music loads but just freezes and doesn't play. The on-demand streaming service in the app is horrible. The selection of shows and movies to watch is extremely limited, and there are so many ads. For some shows, I've seen more ad runtime than the actual episode. Don't use this app.

Plex used to be an amazing app for streaming your local files. It was simple. But with the most recent update it now requires an account, a login, and starts littering your home screen with stuff you could watch online. I wanted this app for one thing - streaming of files on my local network without requiring internet. I don't need a cloud. Your best bet is to find an older apk and install that and hope it works with the server. Or people keep suggesting something called Emby.

Why is the android Plex app still a streaming pile after years of development? Why does music playback fail more often than work? Why can you pause with Bluetooth but not unpause? I've tried it on about a dozen devices and it sucks on them all!

Plex...where we like to have as much clutter as possible at one time crowding your screen and make you click a multitude of times just to get to your content, which might work or not. But, if you get lucky and it works for you (depending on the moon and sun cycle and server and streaming device) we'll be sure update it shortly and break something else. Plex is one of the best things you can have and I would say it's a MUST OWN APP for anyone. Even if you don't want to use the app, the website works great as well. But either way It stores all your different types of media as well as has a bunch of its own now, which is newer features added on. The perfect movie streaming app. Plex is literally the best streaming app I've ever used, it's intuitive and user friendly and just straight up works. The ability to share servers with other people is something I never realized I needed! The fact that Plex automatically grabs the movie art and ratings and descriptions really earns it this review. Great app, but has several quirks on Pixel 3. Resume frequently fails when pausing a video and coming back to it, resulting in it starting over from the beginning. Killing the app and restarting it sometimes helps. The app sometimes loses connection with Chromecasts when casting content, losing control of content until manually reconnecting. The app feels a little outdated with not supporting logging in via fingerprint. Google Assistant can only pause/resume. Launching content would be nice.

The app is disappointing. I need a replacement for GPM. Thought Plex might be able to replace it, and even paid the $5 in-app purchase to be able to stream my home library on my phone. Already refunded it because it would randomly disconnect from the server many times in just one day to the point where I simply couldn't play music, even though my home computer was on and connected. The UI is not home library friendly either-- it takes 4 clicks or more to get to my albums.

I love PLEX, but the app keeps failing when playing playlists. It won't play your downloaded content without a connection either. Tried PLEXAmp as an alt for music, but that started failing too. Please please fix the music portion of your app. You guys are awesome, but this is killing me. I really really don't want to migrate to something else. Do you guys take bribes?

I am a big Plex fan (I have a lifetime Plex Pass subscription). But Plex has really let down Nvidia Shield owners. Plex refuses to play 4k content. No other app has similar problems. Since support is non-existent, I am reduced to writing 1-star all reviews.

Okay when it works, but it keeps forgetting that I activated it, limiting play back to 1 minute.

Constantly can't connect to the server. Main reason I paid for the plex pass was to stream my music on my phone and to cast to a chromecast audio. It just fails too many times at those two things and I really don't care about those free movies /shows.

Not able to get all audio for surround 5.1 files on chromebook using android app. Very frustrating that i can not use this app on chromebook for offline sync as can't listen to all audio... plays background sound but not voices or other sounds. I would be more than willing to show you issue on a call of some sort.

I don't understand all the negative reviews of this app. I've literally been using Plex Media Server and this app for years and years with very few problems that weren't of my own making. This is hands down the best solution for watching your media from your home network anywhere. I do have a Plex Pass and it's the best investment I've made.

Changed my life. Not sure what i would do without Plex during this pandemic. This review is only for home server usage. I have not used the free movies, or live tv features. All of the movies I've converted from dvd over the years are now streaming right to my TV from my home server. I'm sharing the content with a few select friends and they're loving it too. Thank you!!

Update: Ha! You think I'm going to get Plex pass to use this garbage? Bye Felicia! I left Kodi because I've gotten tired of constantly "tinkering" with it to get it to do stuff it should by default- it's 2020! But at least it worked. Plex buffers CONSTANTLY even on a 1 Gb home network. On the TV, it usually works, pretty well, but this Android version is horrible. I think I might go back to Kodi.

Biggest issue: this needs a skip commercial and skip into button for Chromecast ASAP. This app often malfunctions, ignoring input, requiring the use of Back and then trying again, or closing the app entirely to get it to work. Please get some of the team who worked on the Plexamp app to fix this one.

It won't play mkv, MP3 DVD eg VIDEO_TS.IFO format, or avi - no problems for VLC. It takes ages to start - too much time wasted spinning the orange disc. Free video gets to ad 1 of 3 and locks up. I was thinking this had potential but not going to pay more as free doesn't work. Need more control over being to navigate to folders on my device rather than relying on what it finds and watch the orange spinning disc. Can't view my pictures or play my music files. Disappointed 😞.

Starting to use to replace Google Music. However the downloaded Music is very flakey and often will not work if the phone has no internet connection, which is the whole point of having it. If Plex want to gain all subscriptions from users looking for a replacement for Google Music they need to fix this ASAP

Where do I start? I love this app and everything it stands for. No ads, it's cheap so I don't have to worry about paying for it, I can watch my library anywhere (thanks to my fast internet), and it does all the organizing for me. Im a huge fan of Plex and I recommend it to everyone I talk to (literally). I'd highly recommend getting the server set up and trying the system out for yourself.

Just bought and after 2 days stopped working. No support help from email listed just get a no reply message. No live help or chat listed on link given. Every thing seems to point to community forum help only. Starting to regret buying. -UPDATE 7-24- Well they did reply below, saying post on forums. I of course did that already, but have got no answers as to what might be the problem. Could still use help....

This app is awesome, i use it almost every day, I had been looking for something that meant i could watch movies and tv shows that we have after storing them on my computer, first first it works awesome, my parents use it for their shows and i use it for the movies i have moved from dvd, the only downside if anything is you can't use ut direct to your phone which you can change for $7 per account which is very reasonable, awesome app won't use anything else

I'm a life time member and I can never get this thing to work properly. Starts to play music and then cuts out. Only way it works is from my desktop. New update is horrible! Nothing works........I would love my money back. This app hasn't worked right for years

Plex pass member. Constantly getting error message while playing audiobooks Plex failed to play the selected item. Drives me crazy as it restarts the track or in my case chapter sometimes an hour-long chapter restarting makes it really difficult to find out where I left off as the displayed time in the notification is usually much further back than where I am actually at.

Be a little patient and get your hardware, firewalls and config right and Plex is the bomb. You never have to think about it once you get it right. My advice? Use a dedicated (can be old) white box PC with an SSD for Windows and Plex and a couple big dynamic mirrored drives for your content and you'll be fine. I'm using an old AMD Phenom II 6 Core whitebox desktop with 12GB RAM and it rocks, converting media on the fly at 3x+ for phones, NUCs and whatever else we're watching on.
