Reviews From google play store

Spent a lot of time struggling with this wreck and found that it's completely useless. It's extremely hard to get it to connect. Remote trigger requires a dedicated WiFi Direct connection yet it can only copy thumbnails. Unlike other cameras, Sony's can't join an existing WiFi network or communicate with anything except this dumb app. You still need to transfer the real files with a USB-C cable or card reader. A recent update turns off the WiFi Direct connection when you leave the app so that your networking doesn't remain broken. It doesn't turn it back on when you return to the app and the reconnect button usually doesn't work. You have to dig through the camera menus and scan the QR code again. So what might work? After much struggling you might be able to use it like those old IR remotes that had a few adjustment buttons and a big trigger button. Forget about it and use the camera's built-in delay timer.

Intuitive is not the apps strongest point, but it does work. My main point of confusion is why, when it is nearly 2020, we can't transfer raw files wirelessly. You could transfer raw with the old app and firmware, WiFi is plenty fast, even Bluetooth is fast enough to grab a couple files to throw into the Lightroom app, edit and share. Why do we need to use a cable, OTG adapter, and a third party file browser to transfer raw files? Sony?

Poor. I've been having problems with this app for over a year. I have the sony a 5100 and the a7iii and none of the videos I recorded will transfer to my devices. I have installed this on the Samsung tablet and two iOS devices and yet it still does not work. All three devices have plenty of storage. Sony you are a multi million dollar company and this is what you offer when your customers buy 2700 dollars of your product?

It is a nice App, can perform very Basic operations and not more, is ok. Connecting to the camera is a little slow and not straight forwards, I had to try many times until it worked. Try to make this app come to the standard of the other Sony products. Put more operative functions, most important is to make connecting to a camera a better easier experience. 2.5 ☆

Could do so much more for such a brand like Sony. It is a pity that we cannot transfer raw files and original video files. The stability of the WIFI connexion is not optimal. The interface is not intuitive. And it would be great if we could delete picture from the app to the SD card to cull pictures on your mobile device.

How can Sony make this kind of poor performing apps. Functions such as live camera view, file transfer etc... are working. But stable connection to the camera is not good. Also the user interface is such a waste and it look like someone created this app when doing android app development training. I beg Sony to update the UI and connection interface of the app. Your cameras are great.

The app works. But that's the only positive. The UI is definitely not the best one. Selecting images from camera for downloading is not friendly. You are supposed to click on the checkbox to make a selection, if you click on the thumbnail, the picture will maximize. The pictures you download from camera are compressed a lot. And for some unknown reason they are sometimes duplicitous.

One of the worst apps I have ever used. The old Play Memories app did at least work even though it was still rubbish. This new one is just so infuriating, it might connect briefly in an hours worth of attempts then randomly disconnects. Can't believe an electronics company as large as Sony are so clueless about apps.

I tested my Sony action cam 2 weeks ago before coming on holiday and it was all working.I get to my destination and take the camera Scuba Diving and then try to download my photos and videos to my Android smartphone using this app.The phone connects and shows how many photos and videos I have taken but will not let me see the thumbnail or transfer it. Very unsatisfying.Sony is supposed to be a world leader in technology and yet produce such terrible app,The camera is rendered us useless. 😡 😡

I would give this 0 stars if possible. Come ON Sony, this is just pure laziness. Take a lesson from other companies on integrating focus features into the app. No eye-af control. No ability for touch screen as if using the back panel. You can easily fix this and you really should. No sense in not offering a quality app to match your high quality cameras. Get to it, please. I'd be happy to test beta for a new development. I just want to be able to use my A7Riii for my self portrait project.

app will not work unless granted access to the device's location. There is no reason it should need that. Gave it another try, and college projects are better than this. Sony should be embarrassed. It's terribly slow, non-intuitive, and just clunky. A cabled or wireless remote is a better option and this is awful for viewing pics on a mobile device

I have a Sony DSC-HX90 camera. The app works well enough, making it easy to transfer photos to my phone, but also to use the phone as a remote control to take photos. One major annoyance, and the reason I've marked the app down, is then when I send photos to my phone it seems to transfer them in a completely random order, ruining any sort of intended order. I don't know why this happens, but if that's fixed the app would bump up to at least 4 stars for me.

RAW shots from camera were copied and compressed to JPEG, then transfered to my phone. That's essentially my only gripe with this app atm. I want the full RAW file. Some shots don't require photoshop to achieve my desired look. Lightroom mobile would due just fine, but there's a loss of information in shadows and highlights that's made obvious when images are beginning to be edited. Would be using this app much more if this weren't the case.

Was expecting a lot more from this app. The connection to my camera (Sony alpha 6400) is frequently interrupted and the design of the app is not thought through: E.g. for controlling the camera with a phone the screen of the phone has to stay on all the time, and leaving the app, automatically disconnects the camera. Like this, I cannot use my phone for anything else while doing e.g. a long exposure. The same principle applies to transferring photos from the camera.

The app is unusable without the instructions. And the instructions remind me of Microsoft tech support circa 1995. The instructions are completely accurate, and completely useless. The app does connect to my RX0M2 but the first time took me 4 hours, and the second time 2 hours. I suppose the trend is in the right direction.

Can't get it to connect with the camera. Using the app isn't intuitive. Lot of jargon. Hugely frustrating. I've had Playmemories which worked, but Imaging Edge is a non starter. Can't even get it to update to what I understand is the latest version.

Perhaps it is because of the most recent update on this ap, but I find that my download pictures to my cellphone LG 30K are significantly DARKER though not every time just most of the time. I find this a major irriation with this ap because it did not use to do this. I have had this camera for 18 months and this problem started just 6 months ago. It could be the phone too, but I don't see it as the cause yet. To the question Does it make me happy? It is both yes AND no!!

Loved the older app. The one where you could properly control the camera. Fps was terrible but made good enough for one person operation. This disconnects faster than the BBC being asked tricky question's about the 1970s. Sony with their legendary user interface team have done it again. This time making it unstable as well as terrible. So forget remote mounting your camera and triggering it.

Most basic features missing.. Like brackets went can't we bracket photos from the remote app. This could be stuck a powerful add on but so far it is a crippled Canon mobile app. could be useful for remote shooting if it worked with all the features of the camera being enabled.

Ever since this app changed from playmemories mobile to imaging edge mobile I can never get my ILCE-5000 to send any pictures, and yes I have already tried this with multiple android phones. Please look into this matter as this feature was the reason I bought this camera in the first place. I have also tried the methods of changing the saving destination, but upon changing nothing seems to happen, the saving destination path is still the same.

When it was Playmemories I had no trouble downloading from Sony a6000 camera to Android tablet. For months now this procedure, which should be so simple, has become increasingly unreliable. I travel a lot and want to be able to download images on the fly. Now it can take up to an hour of trial and error to get the camera to talk to the tablet. Ridiculous.

Was working fine in PlayMemories Mobile & highly enjoyed the ease of use & stability. This new version is very poor - unstable & disconnected during middle of transfer, there wasn't an easy way to check what was sent vs. not; what used to be a few mins click, now it took 3 attempts + a whole lot of eyeball checking to try to send some images (I just gave up after 30 mins doing so). Considering changing to other cameras because of this poor experience.

App cannot find my camera, despite both tablet and camera being on the same network. The previous Sony app worked well, why was it replaced by this half-baked offering? Photography should be fun, not the ordeal associated with trying to use this app! Typical Sony, they can make great products, but fail every time with the accessories. I would be embarrassed to release such a project in my name! I have removed the app from all my devices. I won't waste my money on another Sony camera!

Ridiculous that you are required to turn on your GPS to simply run the app! If you run the app, it tells you to turn on your GPS. Click OK without turning it on, then it exits the app. Useless. Maybe I want to take pictures without Geo tagging them. Useless. The old app was far better and less restrictive. Extremely disappointed in Sony.

I used the image transfer all the time but it stopped connecting to my galaxy s8 after I upgraded my A7iii to ver 3.01. Update: I just learned that lookout security app provided by tmobile is what was keeping my gs8 from communicating with my camera. I disabled it and i now get instant transfer as soon as I open the app. The app is still terrible for camera control. No focus control, shutter lag is horrendous. I don't understand how this app is so far behind...

Updating my review... finally got it working. Now able to use the location tagging feature as well as transfer images to my mobile device. So I now consider the app acceptable. It really needs work with regard to help and installation guides to explain how to set it up in conjunction with the Sony cameras. That would save users tons of time and frustration. Based on my experience I can't rate it higher than three stars, but since it now functions, bumping my rating from one to three stars.

This app DOES NOT have ANY of these most basic functions: 1. Must be able to see focus points on remote app live view 2. Must be able to touch-focus and touch-focus&trigger through the live view screen 3. Do not disconnect app when exiting app for a very brief time/switching off mobile screen temporarily. 4. burst/continuous shooting via press-and-hold rather than sliding the shutter button Please address ASAP

Why do I have to pay $10 to be able to timelapse? The functions in this app are shoot at a 2 second or 10 second delay. Something like timelapse could and should be included in the options of this app to make it useful for anything more than transferring jpgs.

The app transfers fine, but disconnects automatically when you leave the app even for a second. The app shuts down sometimes mid transfer. What really annoys me is not having proper raw support for images. Using the camera for raw shooting is one of the main advantages of using a proper mirrorless camera, but not being able to shoot raw and then transfer it makes this app useless for me personally, and perhaps others who value raw shooting. I might as well use my phone camera.

With the previous version, play memories app, I can easily control my camera using my smartphone and transfer photos. But now, it only can live show the image (which is useless to me) and I also have to turn on location (which I dont think you need that) just to activate the app. My camera RX100m3.

Allows me to remote control the camera and is very responsive. A nice feature I am missing in another brand/app is a preconfigured button for zoom. There were 3 buttons for zoom in/out options rather than just a +/-. The camera would then zoom smoothly to your zoom choice. Please consider adding that.

Pretty good if you ask me. I use this app while I have my a6000 mounted to a 130mm telescope which is located on my deck and that means ANY movement = micro vibrations = spoiled pictures. I highly recommend this app. The remote connectivity is amazing. I set up, then walk inside the house, away from the equipment running outside. Only wish I could turn off live view to save on battery life with this app.

almost perfect!!! I would also add the feature to preview and rate images in the app without downloading them to the phone or somehow send ratings from phone to camera. Another problem - you shoot 100 images and transfer them and then you continue and shoot another 100 images and want to transfer them too but the transfer starts from scratch so you need to wait till all 200 images are downloaded. Imagine if we would be talking about several transfers during the photo session - each time you have to start new transfer from scratch. You could definitely make it so that the app checks for the existing images and does not re-download them.

App got dumber. Requires location to run even if you don't want to share your location with the app. App automatically shuts down when wifi is disabled to save power. Tried to connect to wx350 on phone. Didn't work. Have to Send to Smartphone on camera, then it'll connect. Connecting is not always reliable.

Works fine, as it should. One star subtracted, because the app forces 3:2 picture aspect ratio on the camera when remote shooting - why? I can't find any setting that would switch that feature off. Also, what is the use of the ability to switch to manual focus, if I can't change the focus from the phone?

Is your connection failing since the update from playmemories to the imaging app? This is the solution: go to the settings (3 dots, right upper corner) and click on the saving location. Now the imaging app will update the 'saving location'. This will solve your wifi connection issue. When set, the connection is solid and transfer of images is a breeze.

There is no way to connect the phone to the camera. It can't scan the code, and this app forces to disclose my location(what for?!). And, I am supposed to use another app (some kind of memories), but instead, this one pops up and makes me install it. And, there is still no NFC or wifi connection. Frustrating!:(

Doesn't connect to the camera. I use the camera as a helmet cam for my motorcycle. Each time I put the camera on I check the live view and make adjustments as necessary. Not only is this app useless, it makes the camera useless as well. Anyone know of a work around?

The Play memories app worked fine and somehow an automatic update burned me. My a6500 won't sync no matter what I try. I like Sony hardware but all of their software, not just this idiotic attemp, feels like the absolute minimum they think thay can get away with. If I could give zero stars I would.

I was unable to link my camera which I wanted to do in order to use the phone's GPS. I followed the instructions in my RX100M6 manual but ended up with the phone saying it was connected by Wifi but the camera simply displayed "connecting..." So the phrase "Location Information Linkage" never appeared.

Great when it works, which is never. I managed to get it to work once or twice in the past year (I don't know how) but for a while I just can't establish the connection. Tried it with 2 different phones, one brand new. This app is basically useless now.

I have A6000. 1 thing that are not available is to shoot with 10s delay. This app only support 2 second delay, which is not long enough. I need this app to take picture of me (selfie), with 10 second delay, so i have enough time to hide the smartphone, after i push Shutter button on this app

Wow Connectivity So Far.. Unlike earlier Play memories app, the photos sharing from camera mobile ( that too original photos) is a breeze..i use Alpha 6300. 1 star less is for inability to share videos ( only photos can be shared via this app to smartphone ).. it would be great if we can share videos as.

I used to be able to transfer, but now the wifi doesn't hold and disconnects all the time. Also, why can't I transfer videos?? Why can't it figure out what i've already transferred so i don't need to check each time? Why is Sony so terrible with mobile apps??

No idea why the rating is so low on this app. I have had many many Sony cameras & I used their apps as a remote for night photography. This is super easy set up, clean & clear controls in the app. I love it. Light years from the old Sony play app that was 15 minutes of messing around before you go out to shoot. Nice work!

**VERY IMPORTANT TO EVERYONE** Until SONY fix his mess, do the following: First you have to uninstall the IMAGE EDGE MOBILE. Second, go to the site "APK MIRROR" and search for SONY PLAYMEMORIES 6.3.0. Download and install (you may have to allow installation from app outside Play Store. If you don’t know how, search Google for the way to do it in your phone. After, pay attention to AUTO UPDATE. If updated by mistake, reinstall from your copy after deleting. . Hope this help! :)

It's an ok app. Given how good Sony mirrorless cameras are, i had higher expectations. Specifically, i would kindly suggest that Sony extend functionality to include full raw support so that i can wifi transfer my full-size image.

Requires location for no reason and asking too many unrelated questions. I don't even care about damn online stuff of this stupid app, just want to have a bigger viewfinder. I really regret purchasing FDR x3000 R version, its remote is totally useless and now this useless app.it doesn't even recognize camera Bluetooth connection

This app used to work fine before when it was play memories. Since it changed to this new one, I keep having problems with saving images to my phone. It's so frustrating. Play Memories used to work perfectly, can we please go back to that one Sony???

This thing sucks. Sony should be embarrassed. If you're going to cheap out on GPS, your app needs to work every single time. It isn't close to that. Sometimes it does...most of the time it doesn't.

I upgraded my phone from a Pixel 2XL to a Pixel 3XL. Now the app won't let me transfer images from my Sony RX100vi to my new phone. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it to no avail. It won't connect even though both devices are apparently paired. It used to work with the Pixel 2XL.

This app is free! It allows me to get pics from my camera to my phone while out in the field. Can't tell you how cool it is when you capture a great photo of someone that you might not know and be able to share it with them right away! Yes, the app is a little clunky, but it works and I didn't shell out any 💵 cash😊😊

Bad apps, i never found an error during transfer from camera to my phone using play memories mobile, BUT..! After i update the apps n it becomes imaging edge mobile, i cant transfer any longer, i hope you and your time fix this problems as soon as possible, cause now i find dificulty to transfer from my camera to my phone, thanx n good luck

Crappy app, does not deserve the quality of Sony cameras. Transferring images from the camera is unreliable, disconnects in the middle and requires multiple attempts. The very basic functionality that must be rock solid for this type of app.

Used to be a perfect app; now it just, constantly cannot syn between phone and camera; this is the perfect example of "if it not broke, do not touch it"

Absolutely useless as others have said. I had it connected to my camera once and now it no longer works. Tried reinstalling the app, wiping settings on the camera, etc. My phone connects, but then the app doesn't actually connect at all to the camera. All I really want is an easy way to transfer raw files from my camera to the phone, even if it's over USB. You'd think this wouldn't be hard but apparently it is.

Really, Sony? If a startup made up of college kids with $28.56, 8 packs of ramen, and a garage can make an app work, I'd hope one of the most reputable companies in the world could figure it out. My A7iii feels like 1997 Kodak with a better sensor. Get it together, Sony.

Happy with the recent update as the app was very limited with for my Sony A7 before it. Now it allows changing all 3 exposure parameters and focus point with one touch. Hopefully future updates will add more controls, eg built in filters and modern UX.

I have used this software for years and find it useful. Unfortunately it does not work with Android 10. This app was the only one that broke when the upgrade to 10 on my Pixel 2 occured. I will miss it.

PlayMemories do a lot better. This app didn't allow your phone connect directly with the camera, only option for connect via access point only???? Use with Rx100mk3 with Samsung note10plus

After downloading the app again, has improved, I have now been able to use (as is supposed to do in first place) the remote controls of the camera, still, the need for location is unnecessary.

It's ok but functions are seriously lacking. In order for this to be usable for any serious shooting and video work a few functions should be added. -Support for connecting via USB to avoid lag. -Support for picture profiles (how could this seriously not be included already?) -Zebra display I feel like there is so much potential with the app if it weren't as limited as it is at the moment.

Useless app, you cant scan the qr code because its to small (using a sony mobile) nfc seems not to work. I dont had problems with previouse versions, but somehow sony makes their stuff worse every update. For me that means, im going back to canon!

So far works great with my new A7RIV. My biggest con with the Sony line was the inability to rotate the lcd to face the subject. This app solves that and takes it to a whole new level of creativity. Thanks Sony.

Play Memories used to work flawlessly until I upgraded to Imaging Edge. Now I can't connect to my a6000. That makes it worthless. I'm uninstalling today. This makes me very sad because I will miss the convenience. After reading the huge number of negative reviews I know it isn't me or my phone, it is this app. I can only hope Sony sees the trend and fixes the app, or at least re-releases its predecessor until a fix can be implemented. Sony, shame on you for inadequate beta testing.

It technically does what it says on the tin. I wouldn't want to be a professional, I find this app very basic, very clunky and unrefined. Disappointing considering my a6500 is such a nicely made piece of kit.

Garbage, going round and round in circles trying to connect to the Sony Rx10 mk4 the app is useless and Sony can't seem to get anything right, making it overly complicated. Olympus was much easier.

A phone transfer app is a necessary part of a modern camera ecosystem. This one is painful to use. Not intuitive to select multiple images for export, WiFi transfer is ok, but it isn't obvious that bluetooth isn't an option. camera control isn't obvious, I'm about to resort to youtube. Constantly complains about being disconnected, yeah well, I left my camera at home. Needs a really big manual, and some development time. Nikon's isn't great, but i didn't need to look up basic functionality.

Ever since the major updates and rebranding I can no longer connect my Sony camera. The code scanner does not function (throws connection errors) and it does not allow me to manually enter the Wi-Fi connection code. Forces you to enable location services. Unfortunately it went from being a mediocre, but functional app to being completely non-functional.

I've always had a great experience and have been able to connect fine until I got Samsung 10+. It doesn't appear this app supports the 10+ device??? (at least I can't find any support or help to make it work) I'm super bummed, I downloaded photos from my camera to my phone via the wireless connection regularly. Now the app is worthless to me. :(

Can't transfer images. It says if I want to transfer to change the settings but there is nothing in settings to allow me to transfer, just use a remote which I don't want.

The app is not stable, i have Xperia XZ2, NFC or direct connection is almost not usable, location activation is mandatory which is rediculous. other functions of Camera also not supported.

The app does not connect to the camera, with every attempt failing. Tried the troubleshooting guide but it did not work. My GF has the same problem after updating her app recently on IOS. Sony, fix it!

What are you doing SONY???? Latest update and Change of logo and now thanks to some fault with the App a previously seamless connection between my Sony G and android phone is impossible! Despite numerous efforts and a day Trying to connect the reason I bought the Camera for no longer functions, Why? One doesn't expect such haphazard faults from such a large and usually efficient company. change the Logo? I've deleted this app and if it isn't sorted the camera will follow, it's useless now!

+ The app is fine for downloading photographs on the go. nice, convenient interface. NB: no full size, no raw. - Frequent disconnects. Android 7.0, incredibly hard to establish connection. (worked fine on Android 5). App refuses to work without location permission, which is simply strange: you're not waze, you don't need my location.

Works well for transferring the photos taken to the phone for review, but it stops there. It's very limited. Needs more control over the camera settings, focus control, bulb timer, in-app focus peaking just to start. I do some food photography and I like to be able to shoot without touching the camera. Worked with Canon until now, which had a very complete app, switched to Sony and I'm very happy with the camera but very disappointed with the app.

This app barely works for my RX10; it is even worse than previous Play Memories Mobile (worth 3*). After much fiddling about I can send raw preview jpgs to Samsung Note 9 (location not necessary) if I select "choose from mobile or camera" and select manually RX10 direct wifi (no longer auto switches to this). I find that this app is only useful for sharing photos on social media. So very limited functionality as everyone says. Hope this is useful.

Are you guys serious? I bought a Sony video camera because I thought you knew about cameras. This app is a travisty. Where is the remote focus? Where are the audio levels? Where is access to the various settings shown on the camera lcd screen? If I wanted a toy I would have bought one and I bet it would have come with a better app. I look forward to the revised version.

What the hell Sony, you had a great app. I cannot change manual settings on my rx100ii with this new app. Also I want to shoot in bulb mode but it does work. Really feel like I need a canon camera avain

Sonyyyy!!! You have released new update but, it didn't figure out our issues. So I wanna thank again sony for this awful app. I was happy with play memories, it was practical. This app has to be updated as soon as possible by SONY. It is impossible to connect my camera. If I connect, 2 seconds later it is being disconnected again. (By the way my phone is xiaomi redmi 4x)

Updated app in July and no matter what I do, I cannot connect phone to camera via wifi. This should not happen! Sony is one of the biggest multimedia companies in the world, and you can't develop an app that properly works? This needs to be fixed immediately and Sony needs to really look at how it handles these app updates. If they don't fix this in a month or two, my Sony A6000 is going on eBay and I will never buy Sony again! What the heck Sony?

It seems there is no way to change as/SS/iso within the app, which necessitates going to the camera, exiting the app, changing settings and reconnecting. Also, it seems to only take JPGs. Used with an a7rii.

my a6400 doesn't connects with my Samsung note 9. Geo-taging doesn't work, file transfer works, I still have no idea what the nfc on my camera does... I thought it was meant to help me connect and transfer files but no. All in all, like everyone else says, this is a pretty useless app with a terrible user interface. Uninstalling it ASAP!

Tested on A72 and A7R2. Some issues: 1. Location Tagging seems to have gotten lost. 2. Using the Remote with the image transfer is cool however, it locks up the camera while the JPG is being tranferred. This means you get 1 shot per 20 seconds... so not usable. 3. No way to stream images other than using Remote Connection. 4. Launches but doesn't connect to the camera on a Chromebook. 5. No BlueTooth support, WiFi forces constant WiFi switching 6. Connecting via USB connection doesn't work.

I'd give 5 stars if they were actually trying to think of a name that you absolutely will not remember when you're out trying to setup your x3000 camera. It's even worse than it being called Play Memories

Doesn't work. We have 20 Sony handyman cams with WiFi remote control access. However every camera we have tried doesn't work. We have tried multiple phones aswell just doesn't want to connect.

Doesn't stay connected to my phone - have to reconnect with every photo I want to download. You should take a look at Canon's app. Their download process is SO much better!

Good app but will be better if we can see focusing point and also able to move it from the app like touch AF. Most other brands can do it.

When transfer pictures from camera to smart phone , you can choose between 2M ot Original Size for "Copy Image Size" function, please please add more choices - 4M and 6M in case the user need something in the middle.

Allow option to transfer camera photos and videos wired from camera to phone, also by sd card to adapter to phone. I have this sd card to USB c adapter and wished this app could copy it for a faster transfer. Only a few apps allow me to truly use my adapter to get my photos and videos. Sony you can easily make it easier but you choose to make it more difficult. Allow Raw Files to be transfered too

Not able to connect my phone to the camera in any possible way. Tried WiFi, NFC, from phone to camera or the other way, got all the passwords correctly, reset my phone, nothing....and I went through instructions..... sorry this is useless for me. I use a Huawei P20 Pro, it shows that is somehow connected with the camera, but I can't send photos from the camera to the phone. And when I try again, the app informs me of an already existing connection even when there is no connection.

Horrific app! Impossible to connect to 1st and 2nd generation Sony cameras like the a6000 and a7ii. Works OK with the a6400 because of QR. The older version of the app was far superior.

Still cannot transfer still images OR videos from my Sony A7 to my Samsung Galaxy S9. as a new youtube vlogger this is a serious issue for me. Will have to find another camera firm that actually supports my hobby better. Sorry Sony. You failed big time.

I'd choose zero stars if that was an option. I use a Sony RX10 M4 for shooting cricket, and with the Play Memories branded software, I was able to get images off the camera quickly. Post rebranding the time it takes for images to be selectable appears to be related to the number of images shot, and with 2000 images it can take up to 5 mins to be able to select an image. This is utterly useless in a sports situation. Secondly the images are not transferred in filename order back to the phone.

Interface is convoluted, for such a simple task. No easy integration to Google Photos / Samsung Gallery. But with some work I got the photos out of the camera.

My camera does not have a QR code it has a passcode, so I can not connect my new phone to the camera. The old app worked great! Why did they change it?

This app is incompatible with the NEX 6. Play Memories used to work fine for transferring photos, but this new app doesn't support the camera. Forced obsolescence. Shame on Sony.

Cannot connect my phone to the camera! 99% of cases I cannot connect to the camera with this app. Seems like it's unable to switch from home wifi to camera wifi, and I'm not going to forget my home network every time i need to connect to the camera. How does something buggy like this ever get released into production??

This app is completely useless. Unable to connect to my phone at all. Before Image Edge Mobile my camera used to pair flawlessly and effortlessly. now this garbage app has single handedly ruined Sony's reputation and made the only reason I bought my Sony a5100 pointless. Seriously Sony nobody wants to share their location. nobody wants the useless app. Give us back the old app.

So inconsistent! Every time it works, I feel like I won the lottery. Add an option to keep the wifi connection longer.

precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.

view network connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

pair with Bluetooth devices
Allows the app to view the configuration of the Bluetooth on the phone, and to make and accept connections with paired devices.

access Bluetooth settings
Allows the app to configure the local Bluetooth phone, and to discover and pair with remote devices.

send sticky broadcast
Allows the app to send sticky broadcasts, which remain after the broadcast ends. Excessive use may make the phone slow or unstable by causing it to use too much memory.

take pictures and videos
Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This permission allows the app to use the camera at any time without your confirmation.

change network connectivity
Allows the app to change the state of network connectivity.

allow Wi-Fi Multicast reception
Allows the app to receive packets sent to all devices on a Wi-Fi network using multicast addresses, not just your phone. It uses more power than the non-multicast mode.

connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi
Allows the app to connect to and disconnect from Wi-Fi access points and to make changes to device configuration for Wi-Fi networks.

disable your screen lock
Allows the app to disable the keylock and any associated password security. For example, the phone disables the keylock when receiving an incoming phone call, then re-enables the keylock when the call is finished.

GET ACCOUNTS
Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

full network access
Allows the app to create network sockets and use custom network protocols. The browser and other applications provide means to send data to the internet, so this permission is not required to send data to the internet.

control Near Field Communication
Allows the app to communicate with Near Field Communication (NFC) tags, cards, and readers.

run at startup
Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.

control vibration
Allows the app to control the vibrator.

prevent phone from sleeping
Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

modify or delete the contents of your SD card
Allows the app to write to the SD card.

modify system settings
Allows the app to modify the system's settings data. Malicious apps may corrupt your system's configuration.

read Home settings and shortcuts
Allows the app to read the settings and shortcuts in Home.

uninstall shortcuts
Allows the application to remove Homescreen shortcuts without user intervention.

write Home settings and shortcuts
Allows the app to change the settings and shortcuts in Home.

receive data from Internet
Allows apps to accept cloud to device messages sent by the app's service. Using this service will incur data usage. Malicious apps could cause excess data usage.
