✔ IP Cloaking. Your IP address will be changed to a Private Internet Access® IP address to hide your identity and location. Hide your IP address to stop data trackers, snoopers, and hackers from tracking your browsing and search activity. When you change your IP address, you can be more anonymous and blend in with the crowd.

✔ WiFi Security. With WPA and WPA2 now kracked, you need a VPN to protect your WiFi everywhere - not just in hotspots, coffee shops, cafes, hotels, and airports. If you use WiFi hotspots without encryption, your data can be seen, blocked, throttled, censored, or otherwise changed.

✔ Data Encryption. Encrypt your internet traffic with our VPN proxy. Our trusted online privacy service creates several security layers which keep you anonymous and prevent access to your data. It’s time to change your WiFi habits.

✔ Defeat Censorship. Access blocked apps or connect to censored websites. Unlock and unblock your favorite websites from anywhere.

✔ Per App Settings. Have an app that you want to let bypass the private VPN tunnel? Choose which apps to exclude from the VPN.

✔ Internet Killswitch. Ensure your internet always uses our VPN connection with our internet killswitch.

✔ Low price. $6.25 per month if you purchase a yearly account ($74.99/year) or $9.99 on a monthly basis.

✔ Reliable and trusted VPN provider since 2010. Proven no log policy. Unlimited bandwidth. Use our VPN as your proxy.

✔ Privacy is our Policy. Here at PIA, we not only provide a great VPN service at a low price, but we also support organizations like the Electronic Frontier Foundation, FightForTheFuture, Creative Commons, Open Rights Group, Index on Censorship, freenode, Wireguard, Arch Linux, and many others.

✔ We respect your privacy and anonymity.

"Private Internet Access, one of Lifehacker readers' favorite VPN service providers, makes it easy to surf privately and securely from anywhere." – Lifehacker

"There have been several Editors' Choice VPN services recently, as one product tops the next, but Private Internet Access out-performs and out-features the competition. With 4.5 stars, Private Internet Access sets the bar high and is truly the Editors' Choice, trumping all our previous favorites." -- PC Mag

“When shopping for a VPN service, it is recommended to find a service that does not log its customers’ traffic and prevents an anonymity-unmasking issue known as IPv6 leakage. Private Internet Access carries that level of security.” – Wired

Why does the app need camera permissions?
The camera is used only when you scan a QR code, nowhere else. Earlier versions of Android (before 6.0) will incorrectly report that we need this at all times.

GDPR compatibility
This application only send username and encrypted passwords to our servers as part of using this app. During signups, we also collect user-email. We not collect and/or store any other user information.

Great as far as not needing to worry while on open WiFi in my apt. bldg. Would be helpful however, to have a downloadable manual. I'm not familiar with all the tech language & would be easier to study separate from app. Information is not clear. No 'Help' button. Had it for several months and only figured out how to time it out with Snooze button it last month.

  2. Smith Myers-Jones-avatar

apk I can only use this after rebooting my phone (or reinstalling). Every other time, it goes into a "Authentication...No process running" loop (no error message shown). I reached out to PIA, and was told to uninstall and reinstall (which I have done *many* times). In the forums, some suggest changing regions may help - it does not for me.

  3. Matthew Ariel-avatar

mod apk Constantly disconnects on Android. Probably 15% of the time I go to Google something , it just sits an loads, because the VPN has dropped out. It'll come back in like a minute or if I manually restart the connection. This takes a 1 second task, and makes it a 30-60 second one, multiple times a day. Also even when I manually disconnect , it constantly reconnects itself , and then drops the fricken connection. I like the privacy but the Android app blows and is unreliable af. Going on for months.

  4. Mike K.-avatar

download The VPN service is ok but can be spotty at times. The app can interfere with the normal operation of other apps. But you expect that from a cheap service. The real problem it's customer UN-service and the predatory billing practices. If you care about your money and credit card info, i recommend finding another VPN service.

  5. Jacob Allen-avatar

review Anyway to keep settings after app update? It's inconvenient to have to change them back to my default preferences every time there's an update. Update: this may have been corrected. However, now the trust cellular networks option seems to have been removed. I would appreciate having this back to reduce data usage.

  6. karen maharaj-avatar

firestick I used both PureVPN and Surfshark for Hotstar and it always worked. Today I used Private internet access VPN and hotstar detects a VPN. I tried the settings changes to wireguard as suggested by your helpdesk. Still no use. I request a refund as it is a waste of my money as this product doesn't work. Thank you

  7. Stan DeGroff-avatar

app Will not work with my banking app !!!!! Too many problems. Very little access to setups That their windows and linux version have. Cant stream well, google hangs, etc. Also, stopped using on Winders & Linux. Too many connection issues.

  8. Nick Champness-avatar

apk free download Since the latest update the app has a mind of its own (15 may 2020). If I disconnected the VPN it will connect again by itself a minute or so later. Only if I log out can I stop it from doing so.... Very annoying. A terrible battery drainer too which is disappointing

  9. John Smith-avatar

itunes This app has been pretty solid up until recently. Lately the app has been closing and disconnecting the VPN, allowing unencrypted traffic through and exposing my actual IP. Until this is fixed, I won't be using the PIA app.

  10. Crais1n-avatar

vpn private internet access It was working fine up until the last 2 updates. It does not let me connect anymore which means the app is useless. And I know my account is fine because I am still able to use PIA on my PC.

  11. Jeffrey Grdasic-avatar

    Jeffrey Grdasic

As I am unable to contact the developer via the app, I'm writing here. There is only a knowledge base and this is useless for this case. This version is broken. It does not create a VPN. I haven't had any issues with prior releases.

  12. John Doe-avatar

Today was the worse day. Their servers are slow. Can't wait till my 2 year subscription is over. May want to rethink a long term subscription. Honestly don't waste your money on a failed VPN service

  13. Stephen Nix-avatar

The opening screens on the Android App say “protects up to 5 devices”, shouldn’t this say 10 devices? Four starts, as I just started using this on multiple devices... we’ll see how it goes on Android, and adjust the rating accordingly

  14. Darrell Sneed-avatar

This VPN really cuts your internet speed; mine in half. I like that you can connect up to 10 devices, which is needed for families. Lowered rating because speed is getting cut so drastically.

  15. Krishi-avatar

UI in app has been non-responsive for the last few months. Turning VPN off/on requires multiple clicks. Notifications are bugged.

  16. Domingo D.-avatar

Okay and all... Works when I'm connected to WiFi but NOT when I'm connected to Mobile Data? I'm running a Note 9 on Samsung Experience 2.0 (Android10)... I'll email customer service, hopefully they can help!

  17. Danielle Kenon-avatar

7-day trial is nonsense!! I downloaded to read a foreign comic on Webtoons. My comic still wasn't available through this app so I cancelled 1 hour later. Suddenly all mentions of a 7 day trial are gone. GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY!

  18. Hank Mortar-avatar

The pia app is about 1/4 the speed of my ISP, on my Galaxy Tab S4. But PIA IS REALLY RELIABLE, really secure, and the app is really easy.

  19. Alex Wise-avatar

Horrible refund policy. I had been a subscriber for 3+ years when my account auto renewed last year. They never sent me a reminder email about the renewal like many places do, and at the time I couldn't afford to renew for another few weeks due to medical bills. I immediately canceled my subscription and emailed support asking for a refund when I got the email stating I was charged. But since I was not a new account they would not refund me even within 24 hours of the charge.

  20. Mzwathano N-avatar

Very fast connection time. Unfortunately Samsung smart view doesn't work with PIA if I'm casting from my phone.

  21. Ryan LoGrasso-avatar

absolute top VPN service, cross platform period. Fast, historical evidence our privacy as users is secure/undocumented. Great customer service, smooth UI.

  22. Kent Brannon-avatar

I have also been using for years; I don't recall a single negative issue. 1) Low cost. 2) Secure, private. Web-search it for more info. 3) Now supports WireGuard. Nice. 4) Low battery consumption. 5) Have Linux, Mac, Windows, Android and multiple others (GUI). Use on almost any modern platform. For some, biggest nagative is that Netflix often blocks IP VPNs, although not just PIA.

  23. David Amata-avatar

Wireshark not working on Android 8.1.0 with this update. Will not connect to any servers.

  24. Milad Samie-avatar

Wireguard not working at all, why even bother putting it there when it's not functional

  25. Philip Gerard-avatar

Great VPN with great flexibility :10 users can be connected simultaneously and no logs. Those looking for a VPN must try PIA.

  26. Sunrider Ninety-avatar

    Sunrider Ninety

I've had PIA for 3 years now and it works great!!!

  27. James M-avatar

After recent update, vpn is frequently disconnecting. Trusted wifi feature still does not work.

  28. Daniel Grobbelaar-avatar

    Daniel Grobbelaar

Great app and VPN. I'm giving 3stars because it uses way too much battery!

  29. Ruben Jackson-avatar

Wireguard doesn't work. I restarted the app but it still automatically disconnects the moment I turn the VPN on.

  30. Guy Feldman-avatar

It takes so long to connect and even after that it keeps disconnecting and trying to reconnect constantly, I don't think Im going to resubscribe once my plan ends

  31. Jesse Black-avatar

Used this vpn for years. Use it on every device also. Just works period whether linux, firestick,or windows or anything. Like that i can lower to 256k to use less resources. Great vpn period ! One thing though is its better to use cloudflare dns instead of pia s. Pia dns just is a little slow.

  32. Grant Sugars-avatar

"Adding Routes" notification bug still present after month.

  33. A Google user-avatar

Great app I've been using it for a year and a half. They are constantly improving it as well. Keep up the great work!

  34. Tom Whiteley-avatar

Works like the rest of PIA's products. Continously gets updates with more features to help me be more secure.

  35. Jeffrey Phillippi-avatar

    Jeffrey Phillippi

I tried this VPN out and it worked so well for me it was more than well worth the price

  36. Chris J-avatar

Simpler, has more control, and more reliable on mobile than Nord. Plus, better priced. Will update review if experience changes.

  37. Bobby Stagg-avatar

Great VPN. Easy to exclude apps that don't allow VPN connections and the customer service is great. Automatically connect to best server with no slow down at all the few times I've tested it. Very happy so far.

  38. Bruce Darling-avatar

Great VPN service with a proven security focused track record .

  39. Mohammed Raouf Iqbal-avatar

    Mohammed Raouf Iqbal

App continues to autostart despite unckecking option in settings. Sometimes you have to select to disconnect multiple times for the app to disable the active VPN. The VPN service is great but the app has a mind of its own.

  40. Dipak Halai-avatar

cannot login to my android tv box. the login box clear on tv

  41. Aaron Thompson-avatar

Buggy. Frequently fails to connect, opening the app shows 'no process running' before it tries to connect again, and fails again, until you choose another server. Frustrating.

  42. Shaun Taylor-avatar

I don't think the wireguard system was 5star like you claimed it would be.. I changed my country location with PIA and it didn't work, instead I can see myself in my country. That's crazy and embarrassing. I got people talking about this app. You embarrassed me!

  43. Oliver Schmid-avatar

Great app, great service. Version 3.50 has two icons now with one saying "adding routes." I don't know if that's a glitch or not.

  44. Bob Weurman-avatar

Already for years a client and they have a good and stable network .Good product in the years it never was offline. Almost 100% uptime ...fair price.

  45. Slissa-avatar

Wireguard completely breaks google maps and any fitness tracker.

  46. manfred 1234e-avatar

not working with wifi over 90% of the time. Mobile network is no problem. This is since months now and also tried at other wifi, with new firmware etc..nothing worked. I have a Oneplus 7 GM1903 OS 10.0.4

  47. Pat De-avatar

Great app have used it for couple of yrs never had but one issue and got immediate response and solved problem I was new to using a vpn and needed help setting it up. .. been going smooth ever since Thanks for such a great VPN PIA. 🙂

  48. Scott A-avatar

Lately updates wipe settings every time! Rating increases when fixed. UPDATED: Same issue again on 04/17/2020...lost settings. REALLY ANNOYING! THAT IS JUST BAD CODING.

  49. dhiya-avatar

Worst of the worst. I paid for it. And then i can't open Netflix.

  50. Khalid Junior-avatar

I cant even subscribe for d vpn keeps telling me unsuccessful

  51. Mike Loeven-avatar

The last update seemed to go through just fine without wiping my settings so I'm restoring my five star review

  52. Kevin Lebby-avatar

Stopped working after almost a year. I paid for 3 years. Tech support says my device is not supported...

my apps have been hanging since I started using the vpn

  54. Dave Klein-avatar

The last update had messed up the VPN and my phone thinks there are 2 PIA clients running.

  55. Kacee Francione-avatar

    Kacee Francione

Hard to reset the password. You must wait for a chat or email pia then wait forever.

  56. Google User-avatar

    Secure and affordable.

  57. Simon Leuten-avatar

Unfortunately still doesn't support Androids private DNS feature albeit it being out since 2018! Most of the time I can't access any content or website while private DNS is turned on. Also, the new Wireguard feature has no setting for accessing the local network. This is essential to me and I hope it gets fixed in the near future.

  58. Trusked Dwunks-avatar

It offers a variety of security combinations allowing for specialized customization from super strong security with connectivity draw, to well-balanced standard protection for a stronger and faster overall connection! And guys, this is the BIG DRAW: Whereas many developed for appstore vpn's cost near $50 for that single phones protection from a cheap, sub par product, P.I.A. allows a TEN simultaneous device protection limit which is compatible with about any type of OS! It beggars belief GET!

  59. John Wayne-avatar

App will no longer connect and the Killswitch lets traffic through now.

  60. Phillip Lin-avatar

Cannot cast to home Chromecast when connected to PIA via Android app?

  61. Lone Ranger-avatar

I have had PIA for 8 years. Always top notch connections. PIA has had regular updates to refresh the UI as well as IP connections. Very rarely has PIA been out-of-service for more than a few hours. PIA keeps no logs, which is why I chose them in the first place. For the price of just a few dollars a month, there's not much to complain about. Keep PIA alive and working for us as only PIA can!

  62. Plutos Soda-avatar

I've been using PIA for three years, never have had issues, solid app all around. Maybe a bug here and there but upon reporting of the bug they are never slow to fix the issue. I have it on my phone and my mom's, and the rest of my family as well. They love it and they aren't even privacy buffs like I am, they enjoy though and feel a tad safer.

  63. Ozzie Oz-avatar

Priceless!! The added benefit of security with a VPN is one most people in this technological age still haven't grasped--like ALL of my coworkers. Like many, we spend a large amount of time on public networks while on the go, so a VPN is a no-brainer. We've used other (paid) VPN services for years and felt most comfortable with PIA--server options and subscription prices are well worth it. ALL of our devices, abroad and at home use PIA, including our Fire Sticks. Unquestionably...5 of 5 👌😎👍

  64. Kannan Mohan-avatar

The VPN is a waste of money. It takes ages to get connected. Windows app is good as an app. 80 % of my connection speed is lost. The android app resets the modem itself over and over again losing connection. I paid for a year and this is not cutting it. I hope they'll fix the issues. Go for express VPN instead.

  65. Tom-avatar

VERY GOOD VPN but terrible ,unreliable and frustrating app! Constantly loosing conection to the servers, sais im connected but nothing loads, you start the app and you have to select the county twice (on, off, on,) because the first time it doesn't connect to anything and the app restarts!!!! And why does the app take 1/4 of the notification center with 2(!!!!!!) Tabs ...

  66. Ian Adams-avatar

Decided to try it out again after using ProtonVPN for a year. See PIA had a wifi whitelist option. Seems to work great. Except when you go off said trusted network, the VPN doesn't kick back on. Talked to someone on Redditt that says it works as intended on iOS so hopefully the devs can look into this asap. I use Tasker to do the same thing, but I did that with Proton too and OpenVPN.

  67. Rory Martin-King-avatar

    Rory Martin-King

Best VPN by far, I have been subscribed for a couple years now, this covers phones and computers, the owners delete logs this has been proven. Many countries and servers to chose from, and CUSTOM PRIVACY SETTINGS which is a must need. All though this VPN can bypass firewall filters such as public libraries, free city WiFi to unlock sites, it is not a recommended proxy to unlock "country based IP subscription sites" for example Netflix or Channel 4. They can detect a VPN. Use this for annonimity

  68. Reverend Greg-avatar

Sometimes you lose data throughput on the Texas server only restored when I change servers. Is the app that is draining the most battery from my Android OnePlus 7 phone.

  69. Lena Galarza-avatar

I am learning how to teach myself these apps just as well for Lap Top Computers i pones i pads etc

  70. James Coyne-avatar

The VPN works but the other features do not. Randomly the VPN will infinitely attempt and fail to connect without being prompted and without always-on enabled. Trusted wifi/cellular data does not turn off the VPN when connecting and will not turn it back on when leaving wifi/data. Using the widgets also does not guarantee the VPN will actually connect, but opening the app itself kicks it into working. Pretty buggy all around.

  71. Philip Guzik-avatar

Great app, awful customer service. I had no issues until I was forced logged out of the app. After trying to get my login credentials from the support staff I'm still unable to log in. The app is great when you can use it, but the awful customer service is a huge hindrance on actually being able to use the app.

  72. Noyon Ahmed-avatar

Apr 20 UPDATE: Have continued my subscription since my review below and it still stands true. Dec 18: Only writing this because of all the bad reviews that dont reflect my 2 months experience of using PIA on an s8+. Works as described, connection speeds are fast for servers in my region and slows as the servers get further away. All the fuctions work, except the "kill switch" but the app explains to use android >8.0 built in kill switch. would recommend but subscription is relatively expensive.

  73. Jake Foley-avatar

Reset my phone, installed app on Feb 29: will not let me log in. This is nuts! And what's the deal with needing Camera Permissions? Been a customer for many years, loyal too. I'm now questioning the effect PIA's acquisition by KAPE (previously: a history in the ad space and slimey business practices) is having on this once trusted company. My renewal is coming up soon. I'm already shopping around.

  74. J.J. Valenzuela-avatar

    J.J. Valenzuela

When it's connected it's great, but the app is FREQUENTLY resetting the settings for no reason. During app updates, outside of app updates, it just happens and it's infuriating to have to reset the settings each time to make the system work.

  75. Rajaram Sivaramakrishnan-avatar

    Rajaram Sivaramakrishnan

I was happy with the VPN service. Primarily got this service due to the access to India servers. But from as of 31st December, there is no India servers present in the VPN service. Would have given higher rating if this wasn't the case.

  76. Chasz-avatar

So, had to install an older version of this app in order to be able to log in due to the new version having some kind of format problem on my android TV box's screen. Once I was able to log in I was then able to update to the new version but that shouldn't have been necessary.

Simply the very best VPN service that you can get and has been at the top of their game for a Long time now. Don't waste your time and money on these newer, poser, imposter VPNs. If you're serious about your privacy/security on the web..... This is where you go.

  78. Wazir Baig-avatar

Mediocre VPN overall. Reduces internet speed often and has connection issues despite adjusting all the settings they recommend. Security and privacy are fine. I really don't think it's worth the money over some others out there. Used on a Pixel 4 with stock android and a Windows 10 PC.

  79. Rob Steinert-avatar

Please fix your Sydney server in Australia. My download speed is 94mbps and Sydney server gives me 2.96 Mbps. Melbourne server is a hit and miss also. Perth ping times are a little high but that's the other side of the country. Please consider adding Brisbane servers as the other 2 down south are slow most of the time especially Sydney. Pia used to be out standing. Now that you guys have been bought out it looks like it's effecting there service you provide. Not happy...

  80. J Phaedrus-avatar

It just works and I don't know it's there. I still check from time to time just to McShane sure it's still running but always has been. Once in a while on my desktop I will switch to another server if it shows it's faster, but otherwise I'm pleased

  81. Aaren Win-avatar

It's not the worst but it sure is not the best, and what i mean by this is that this service as a whole is really annoying with a 'stable connection' as i find myself reestablishing the connection atleast once a day so my phone will have access to downloading.

  82. Mike Gormez-avatar

For the last couple of months on my phone it has difficultly connecting over WiFi and often the app just stops altogether! I can't depend on it any longer working on the background and protect my connection the way it should.

  83. Kris Pawlak-avatar

Who broke this app? Hangs up at boot and remains like that, blocking all net access. Well, if I wanted that I would do that. This app was working well but last two updates are junk. My susbsciption comes to an end soon and I am not renewing

A waste of money. You spend more time trying to get this app to work than the times that it works. There is always something wrong with this app that is practically useless for me. If it's not working properly, it's not secure. False advertising.

Had this VPN for a few years. It is ok but doesn't automatically connect like it's supposed to all the time especially on my phone. I usually feel like I end up going without coverage if I forget to turn it own when connecting

Ok connection have used it for years, but 3 months ago they were purchased by a dodgy company. They no longer guarantee the privacy of user data and made no announcement about it, not worth the risk. Do your research, I'm going to switch to another asap.

    Unreliable connectivity, daily

I used PIA on my old Android phone and it was great. Since moving to a device with Android 8.0 I noticed that I have to manually start the app everytime to be connected to VPA and the Always-On option does not work automatically and keeps logging off when the phone is idle

When it works, it works, so I can't complain about it's performance. When connecting to a new network there is a 90-10 chance that PIA will have 0 download speed and an above 0 upload speed. This means that PIA effectively blocks your access to the internet until you change servers or pause the app for a long period of time. Edit: changed the ratio from 50-50 to 90-10. Avoid at all costs.

It's so annoying how often I lose connection from the servers. My internet connection will be perfectly fine yet I'm constantly losing server connection consistently every 30 minutes. You're better off taking your money elsewhere.

Good VPN, but a bad app. The app always has issues connecting when I press the connect button the first time. I always have to manually switch the VPN location for it to be able to connect.

When is running, internet goes REALLY SLOW!

Used to work fine but recently I have had to stop it from being active on my phone because I get 0/0 down/up speeds. I don't know what changed because it used to be my GO TO VPN... Please fix guys!!

Perfect application. It has recommended and custom login for individual cities that you can route traffic thru. Been using it for years now. I will never stop using it.

Update : I removed 1 🌟 on 4th of February 2020 because of some minor issues. But surprisingly, I have to update it to 5 🌟 because right before I'm done, an update came in. 90% of all servers are in green zone, I tested most of the servers and they are fine... Some are slow though but I have more trust on this new team, they are really working. Some they will perfect this vpn even better than ever.

Great app. 1 annoying issue. Every time the app updates it losses my settings. For example I have the Kodi remote yatse setup to bypass the VPN as it needs lan to reach my htpc. Unfortunately when the app updates it loses that setting. Same goes for hue and a bunch of other apps. Fix is just to go and add them back. But this is minorly annoying and a fix would be fantastic.

Doesn't seem to work on Android 10 systems, won't accept the keystrokes login or password during the setting up procedure.

Best priced VPN around. Handles at least 300mbps connections without any noticeable performance degradation (no experience with gigabit speeds). Hulu and Amazon Video block me but it's the same for Express VPN which costs twice as much and offers less configuration. There was a while where this app would never connect for me but I fixed it by uninstalling, reinstalling, then logging out and back in. Works flawlessly again. Can't fault devs for the occasional hiccup during software updates.

Used to be good a long time ago. The local server (South Africa) got removed. Most times it let's no data through. What a terrible waste of money.

I would give this 5 stars. Unfortunately I work in Afghanistan 11 months out of the year. This app used to be amazing and always worked. Now I cant get it to work with anything from paying my utilities bill to getting on the disney+ app. Fix this and I'll give it 5 stars. Dont well then I want my money back seeing as I paid for a year upfront.
