    Randizzle Forshizzle

The app itself is good. But everything about it is ridiculous and invasive. Ads pop up on the phone when the app isn't even open. It even has a screen that pops up when the phone is unlocked. I've disabled all permissions and yet it still finds a way to allow pop up ads. I got a brand new S9 and it started doing the same thing. I immediately deleted it because I don't need that kind of viral or hack technology on my new phone. I haven't used my old phone in days but I still keep it charged and out of nowhere this app allows a video pop up that starts playing while the phone is locked. It bypasses my lock to open and play this video. There is something wrong with this app and I don't think it's safe to be on people's phone that hold personal info. I also find it funny that this app is still rated 3.9 stars on the app store when dozens of people are having the exact same issue as me. I think bots are giving 5 stars to this app to keep it in good standings. I hope someone takes care of this problem because this app is doing things it should never have access to do.

  2. Arthur Cole-avatar

This is the most invasive app I've had on my phone. Not in the sense of personal details invasive, but it randomly pops up adds when you haven't used it. The ads often lag far behind when you have closed the app. In some cases I have used to the app to turn my TV off at night, close all apps on my phone, go to work, get home, start playing a game a solid 20 hours after I last used it and it interferes at the most inopportune moments. Pop-up ads are common now, but you don't want an app that will flood any app with it's pop-ups. No app is good enough to justify that.

  3. Bob McGee-avatar

This app is pretty good for its function as a remote control. It works with basically any TV and comes in handy. But I have to give only 3 stars because of all of the ads that play, even on my phones home screen and the app isn't open. And it gets annoying when I plug my charger in and a message saying "Goodnight" or "Good morning" pops up. Any way to disable that?

  4. John Shaskas-avatar

ADS, ADS, ADS, ADS, ADS! too many! and the lock screen widget never comes on when I actually need it, only when I'm trying to do something else, and then I have to back out of it 6 times just to get back to whatever I'm trying to do! the remote functions are great, all that stuff works as it should, but as far as the rest of the junk they cram in there goes, it's unnecessary and annoying... 2 stars for good remote functions, low rating for the issues I've mentioned..

  5. Maria Polinsky-avatar

The app itself is fine. I use it for multiple devices. The ads and daily insistence that I rate it is not. Ads are not just in the app but pop up on my phone even when I'm not in the app. There is only a subscription option, not a one time fee, and we have this on three phones. I refuse to pay indefinitely for an app. So, decent app design, crappy business model

  6. Scott Ceeney-avatar

This app would be 5 stars, but the full screen ads that appear when I'm not even using it got way out of hand and just too dam annoying to warrant me keeping it. I could understand and maybe even forgive ads appearing while I'm in the app, but to appear randomly while unlocking my phone multiple times a day just got too much. Saying that though, functionality and interface is appealing and user friendly. Easy to setup, but I found that I have to be connected to Wi-Fi (And so does the tv??) Maybe one day I can give the app the 5 stars it deserves.

  7. A Google user-avatar

I hated that this app hijacked my phone with ads, even when I wasn't using it. Ads would pop up constantly when I was trying to do other things on my phone, which is infuriating. Show me an ad when I'm using the app, not when I'm opening my camera or checking my bank accoun, doing things totally unrelated to this app! And it would force me to watch up to 4 seconds of a video before closing the ad. Ugh, thumbs way down.

  8. Der Summer-avatar

It hooked up fine. works the way it should. the reason why im giving it a 2 stars is because it randomly places ads and if you're playing a timed game, it's gonna cost you. lol. it brings you to a whole new page & have to click the close button. Too much ads and it's very inconvenient. Even when I turn on my phone, theres an ad before I can even get to my swipe screen to unlock my phone. It will also randomly wake your screen when the ad comes on. Ads all the freaking time.

  9. jerry ramirez-avatar

I do not like that it pops up adds even though it has not been opened. It will have an add running the minute I open or unlock my phone. It works fine other than that. Adds are part of most apps, they shouldn't run on their own though. And the app shouldn't be the first thing to open up on my phone either. It will start up on it's own. And I can't fully delete now. Awesome!

  10. Crystal Kornmeyer-avatar

    Crystal Kornmeyer

I love this remote. It works for everything I need to use it for. I don't have to worry about prying the "real" remote out of my man's clutches after he falls asleep watching something. My only complaint is the ads. Anytime I unlock my phone I get a pop up ad. The big annoyance is that it also pops up an ad when I get a phone call. I've missed more than one call trying to get the stupid ad to close.

  11. Chef Southpaw-avatar

Your borderline spam app automatically covers up the "emergency call" button on my lock screen. I found this out the hard way when someone was unable to use my phone for an emergency call. What a joke. Luckily that person is ok or you would be hearing from my lawyer. The intrusive pop-up ads were one thing, rendering emergency features useless should be illegal (and it may actually be, this is still being decided). BEWARE OF THIS APP

  12. Greg Savage-avatar

Full screen ads pop up at random times. Sometimes I will unlock my phone and it will pop up, sometimes I'll close an app and it will pop up and my "favourite" is when the phone is locked and on charge at night and it wakes my screen and pops up. This happens when the app is not even open on the phone at all. The single most intrusive ad system ever. I emailed them to ask if this was a glitch but have not heard back.

  13. Sophie Newton-avatar

uninstall unless u want ads all the time every where on your phone. it took me ages to work out where the hell all the ads were coming from. They pop up when ever at What ever point in your day. It's over kill. And makes you feel like you have no control over your phone what's so ever. managed to uninstall!! time to re think. because you are losing customers.

  14. Jax Ince-avatar

This app appears to be automatically installed on my phone. For whatever reason, the app developers feel it is appropriate to allow ads to pop up at any given time. Unlocking your phone? Have an ad! Thanks but no thanks! As I am unable to install the app, I have disabled it, reset to it to its factory install and disabled auto updates! Hopefully now it won't be able to give me ads left right and centre!

  15. Catalin Soare-avatar

One of the most annoying apps I've ever had. And, unfortunately it comes preinstalled on my S6. If you want to use it, you actually never close it because it stays in the notification bar. Honestly, I only want to control my TV/or other media when I'm close to them. If you never open it (I just reset my phone), it still bugs you with ads that even cover your lockscren. Horrible experience! However, if you can get past these awful design decisions, it does have an impressive device db and works

  16. Adam Jester-avatar

I have a couple of issues with this app. First, in its latest version it takes over your lock screen after a while forcing you to close a separate screen (with ugly ass wall paper) before you get to your lock screen. Second, this app seems to interject adds into other apps, even when it is closed (for example youtube. And yes i know youtube had ads too, but those are formatted differently, they only take up the video player space. These take up your whole screen). 3rd in order to opt out of ads i need to pay every month!? Look i get that its just $1, and i understand paying to opt out of ads. That isn't the issue. The issue is that its a monthly payment. I would rather make a one time payment and be done with the ads for as long as i use it, than pay every month. Again the price isnt the issue isn't the method. And fourthy there is no way to permanently turn of notifications. Bitching aside the remote itself is pretty solid. I would recommend the remote if it didn't highjack your phone, but it does, so i wont.

  17. Shannon R-avatar

Don't download!!! Wish I could put 0 stars. This app plays full screen adds several times a day even when I am not using it. I dont mind little adds when I use the app, but I got so tired of the ads literally interfering with my phone usage that I tried to uninstall it. After trying to uninstall the app it would not let me. I have finally come to the conclusion that I will need a new phone just to escape the ads. Thanks peel. It would be nice to not have to get a new phone just to escape the ads.

  18. Rachael Kuhr-avatar

AVOID THIS APP. I am unable to delete the app entirely, it continuously auto updates even though I have that function turned off, and the continuous barrage of ads is frustrating and makes even just sending a text difficult. The ads pop up in the middle of what you're doing, so if you're in the process of typing you will end up clicking the ad. The ads also freeze my phone. I have no need for this app, I don't want this app, I didn't even download the app, yet I can't get rid of this trash.

  19. Faith Williams-avatar

It works great, but when I decided I didn't want it anymore because of the popup ads, I uninstalled it, but it just keeps reinstalling itself!! After about a week, there it is again constantly popping up ads out of nowhere interrupting me while I'm doing other things on my phone. It's wrong for them to reinstall it on my phone after I've uninstalled it!'s SO frustrating!!!

  20. Wilson H-avatar

I can tolerate small ads on my screen when i'm using the app, and I can even put up with watching the odd video or 2. However, when I'm being suddenly forced to watch ads when i'm NOT EVEN USING THE APP, or when my entire lock screen is taken up with ads I don't want to see, it's a bit too much. I HATE this stupid app and will be looking for an alternative.

  21. Scooter 2478-avatar

If it were only the in app ads it would be great but its not just app adds. It's horrible, every time my phone goes to standby I get a lock screen add so I'm not able to take quick photo's. I really like the app and I'm tempted to remove it, but I like it enough to deal with the lock screen adds. You can't just purchase the app because there's a monthly fee of $0.99. I feel the app would be rated higher if it had a purchase fee of $4.99 to $10.00 and no monthly fees, which I think would sell more and make the app #1 in it's class.

  22. Shannon Brown-avatar

The absolute worst application I have ever installed on my phone. I am an IT technician that specializes in home theater. This application is invasive. This application is convoluted. When installed, this application, forces ads to pop up on your phone even when the application is not running. These ads can interfere with other applications that are currently running. Oftentimes, the application will lose connection with the television for no reason. It will become unresponsive, randomly.

  23. Michael Lavengood-avatar

    Michael Lavengood

it works great. unfortunately, this app has THE MOST INTRUSIVE ADS I'VE EVER SEEN. This app will change your own lock screen into an advertisement. or it will throw up a full page ad in the middle of a Netflix show. yep. It actually paused a show I was watching, and threw up a full page ad. even though I wasn't even using the app at that time. so my advice to you, is to make sure to uninstall the Peel App after you are finished using it. I have never seen ads that are this annoying.

  24. Natasha Lee-avatar

This is literally the worst app ever. Its like a virus taking over your phone. No matter how many times I uninstall it, it comes back. It plays ads while im on the phone, checking the time or doing just about anything. Videos also play loud even when my phones on silent. I'm getting rid of my phone purely to get rid of this app. Hate it!!!

  25. Bell Ruth-avatar

The app works great, and it's handy to have when I lose my remote. But, I just can't handle the intrusive, full screen ads that pop up when I'm not even using the app. It's not even running in the background, and they pop up anyway. So I enable this app when I need it, and then immediately disable it again. Maybe in the next update, you guys could get the ads a bit more under control? I don't mind them when I'm actively using the app but, when I'm not, they shouldn't be there at all.

  26. Eric Graham-avatar

Update made advertisement pop up as soon as you unlock your phone. You can't even go to your home screen. The most sadistic thing I ever experienced. It took me a long a$$ time figuring out the app update was the cause of the adds that just started appearing one day. I hate any company that feels that is OK to do that to our devices. It is such an invasion of privacy.

  27. Nikki Waqas-avatar

I used to love this app and still find it useful at times. But the ads are ridiculous and frequent just randomly popping up when I've got the app closed. I also have to keep forcing it to stop since it's killing my battery even when I haven't opened it. I will be searching for another one soon. *Update: I held on for as long as I could. The nonstop ads are out of control. I'm deleting the app today.

  28. Amit Mahia-avatar

it is very useful app. The lock screen situation is truly weird. This isn't an ad, but there's no way to know what app is producing the overlay. It only appears when charging, and includes the time, weather, and settings alerts. Annoyingly, it obscures your notifications and adds another swipe to unlocking the phone. Let's face it—no one wants a lock screen overlay regardless of whether or not it has

  29. Dick Rol-avatar

I'm sure the advertisers LOVE this app. you get full screen ads pretty much every time you turn on your device, so the very first thing you have to do when you turn on your phone is dismiss at least 1 ad. Some have timers that force you to wait. Completely unacceptable. i will gladly stand up and take 3 steps to get the real remote instead of putting up with this POS app.

  30. A Google user-avatar

Just like everyone else here is saying, it came pre- installed on my phone, and I can't uninstall it. It pops up ads constantly, 10-15 times a day, right in the middle of whatever I'm doing. I can be in the middle of answering a work related text, or navigating to an unfamiliar location, and have to stop to clear the ad. It's actually illegal to touch your phone while driving where I live, so this has become a huge issue. Wost app ever. Deserves negative stars, that's just not an option.

  31. EvoIition-avatar

The application itself is a great tool that comes in handy. It has a great layout and allows for custom remotes. So far, it has worked on every device I have tried. The only issue I have with this application is the constant barrage of advertisement. Even when the app is closed it will show ads. The only way to disable them is to pay $1.99 a month. And let's not forget this is a default application for some providers. It's effectively ransomware beyond the remote.

  32. Kara Jensen-avatar

Too many Ads that pop up randomly even when I am not using my phone. I have no choice but to use this right now until I find something different. Ads pop up even in the middle of the night. So annoying! other than that it's ok. updating my review 3/16/19 I unistalled this app. the pop up ads were out of control! every time I opened your phone it stalled because this app was opening. I would not recommend, ever!!! SUCKS!!

  33. Michael Edison-avatar

One star, because I cannot do less. I never agreed to install this app, I never agreed to enable it, and I have NEVER used it. It has highjacked my lock screen numerous times, and displays ads at random. I have disabled the app more times than I can count, but it always comes back. I would be willing to pay $10 in order to PERMANENTLY remove this app and have it NEVER RETURN. This app is the only reason I'm considering buying a new phone, just to get away from it

  34. Chelsea Goff-avatar

I've had this Samsung S6 since it came out. I didn't know that this app was preprogrammed into it. It was fine though because I never used it and I actually forgot it was there. In the last month I have uninstalled it multiple times and it keeps popping back up on my home screen. Also now these ads keep pooping up randomly while I'm using my phone and when I unlock it. I am not talking once or twice a day but over 20 times. It has even started freezing up my phone. I want it gone.

  35. Andre Nguyen-avatar

Remote features worked well enough. I kept it installed on my phone until it recently started installing additional software (lock screen news updates) without my confirmation. It also started popping up full screen ads. I don't even use the app anymore, but they popped up ads on my lock screen. Unacceptable practices. I'm not asking for totally free apps; I'm asking for a remote control app that i haven't used for a year to not take over my lock screen with news and ads suddenly.

  36. Marc Estrada-avatar

How is this rated so high? it keeps pushing ads which is the worst but recently after it decided to update itself it added a button at the log in screen which happens to be next to finger print button. so it's super easy to hit it accidentally when trying to open the phone. Then it shoots ads at you. It also can update you on t.v. that's on. Don't want to watch that? Not interested? too bad, you still get a notification. finally- you can't take off any of that permanently. only 1 month. Deleted!

  37. Isaac Barnett-avatar

I'm giving one star because i cannot delete it from my phone, and it randomly throws ads up at very inappropriate times. like in the middle of the night or when i'm trying to answer a call or watch a vid or use any app on my phone. you cannot buy the app to stop the ads you can only subscribe for a monthly fee. So, basically my phone is being held for ransom. other than that, its a great app works wonderful 98% of the time. just wish i could get the ads off

I used to use one of the 20 peel remote apps and it worked great. I used it more than I used the normal remote. I used to tell people about how great it was to have a remote on my phone. Now all of the peel apps try to scan for my smart tv. My tv, the same one as last year, is not a smart tv and does not connect to WiFi. There is no way to set it up manually? And why are there so many peel apps with the same name? I don't like to leave negative reviews but I lost my remote again so here I am...

Never used it. Probably does what it needs to based on other reviews. But I can't stand that it pops full screen ads even when the app isnt in use. Havent used it once but still get at least 5 or 6 full screen ads popping up out of nowhere on the daily.. Honestly dont know why I waited so long to uninstall. I get they need revenue and would have no problem with ads popping if I were using the app. But ads should NOT pop up for apps that arent in use. Point blank period. And to top it off, you can't even buy the option to remove ads, you have to start a monthly subscription 🙃🙃 Save your time and find another similar app with less greedy developers. Would give 0/5 if I could

I absolutely 100% hate this app. It contains disruptive ads that appear everytime I unlock my phone, they also appear every 10 minutes, doesn't matter what you're doing on your phone. You could be in the middle of writing an email and an ad will pop up! Rather annoying and very very unnecessary! I want this app off my phone completely today, however when I uninstall, it still says "UPDATE" or "OPEN". It won't let you completely uninstall. I NEVER installed this app on my phone, so why is it on here?? I want this app gone off my phone today, please tell me how I can go about uninstalling completely???

  42. 妹妹-avatar

Honestly this app has so many ads and will pop up all the time for no reason. My phone was charging and then when it unplugged it had a full screen ad. All of their ads are full screen and when I was in the middle of a game it would pop up as well as a full screen ad. Consequently of all these ads, it has drained my battery and after trying to put up with it for over a year, I need to replace my battery in my phone now. The majority of these ads are useless and cover up your whole screen. It's not worth it

This app used to be my favourite when I first used it in my Samsung Galaxy S5. Then started the ads and stuff. While I don't mind watching ads, this was annoying at its best. Like, I'll plug into charge and an advert starts to play. If I connected to the internet, an advert starts. That is even of the app is not in use it just pops on screen and starts playing an ad. Once it happened around 2 am at night when I forgot to turn off my WiFi. Its annoying and useless. Blocks the entire screen and at times my screen freeze. Don't bombard me with ads when I'm not using the app.

  44. Tori Leggett-avatar

Its a great remote totally overshadowed by annoying full screen ads that take over your lock screen and pop up while you're using other apps. It autoplays video ads over other apps as well! Then it started trying to replace widgets, like battery saver and other stuff. It does not allow you to completely turn this off, only mute it for a maximum of one month. In app ads I don't mind, but I don't need to get my news or anything other than remote.conteol function from a remote control app. Seriously f@#k this app.

  45. Brett Keith-avatar

The only one that worked with my tv (proscan) but WAY to many ads. Ads pop up while your phone is in sleep mode, while your watching Netflix, ect. I was debating paying to get rid of the ads but you have to pay MONTHLY! make it a one time cheap payment like everyone else! Had to delete. Id rather get up and turn the tv up than deal with the ads on this any more.

EXCELLENT compatibility! Everything I need, if I go somewhere and can't change the input. Controls even the most obscure brands. Room for improvement - unfortunately I had to uninstall,, it runs in the background, putting ads on my lockscreen, even, and my phone was so slow I couldn't receive texts. Is there a way to disable this, or could you offer a pay version that I can disable while I'm away from my TV? I don't need a remote or ads about an upcoming show when I'm driving in traffic

  47. Kahina Grant-avatar

This app is without a doubt the worst I have ever used. It is nothing short of intrusive. Opens ads every time you touch your phone, drains your battery because of that stupid lock screen and in the end did so much damage to my s6 due to the intrusive ads that it became slow and useless. I had to buy a new phone, that's how bad this app is. not sure how Google play allow this app yo be honest.

  48. nick kotinek-avatar

The remote part works great. I really don't have a problem with this app except for one thing. I know this is a free app and I should expect adds, but having to close an add every time i turn on my phone or every five minutes of being on my phone (not using the peel remote) is enough to make me start looking for my remote control so I can delete this app. I've even resorted to deleting this app and getting up and walking to the tv to change vol and channels.

  49. Ginger Cole-avatar

The cookies on the free version are too evasive. Sites like JCP, Macy's, Rooms to Go ads of what you last looked at Pop up by simply powering the phone on or from idle. You have to exit out of all that just to get to your home screen. Here's the kicker... even when the Peel App is closed! Had this problem since I downloaded it. There's no telling what other cookies or spyware was apart of the download. No thank you for isay a remote control when I can't find my real one!

  50. BobMaester-avatar

This is a good app with many useful features but I can't disable it! I'll be searching on Google on my phone and suddenly it'll pop up and I'll have changed the channel! I'm also very glad that my password doesn't use spaces because the lock screen shortcut is in the way! Maybe I'm just being stupid and can't find the right button. Who knows!

Not working at all after first use. I have added 1 Receiver ,and after that, the app is hanging in the "Loading..." screen at startup. The only "solution" is to delete the app, reinstall it, and then again getting looked in "loading..." screen. The app is not working at all. The phone is a Huawei Mate 20 Pro and is having android 9.0.0 installed.

  53. Jam Gould-avatar

This app is great it will control all your devices in one place. It will also run your home screen as an app. What does that mean? It means hold on to your hat because anything you do can now be interrupted by an ad. Even with no apps allowed to run in the background this still manages to get through and absolutely interrupt any phone use. This app is garbage and spam. It should not exist at all.

  54. Julia Lott-avatar

While the app itself works well as a remote control, the amount of ads that pop up from it has become ridiculous. I am not even just talking about seeing them when the app is running. You will see the full screen ads pop up often when you just tap your home button to wake the phone up and use it. It was doing this after I closed the app, after I blocked the app's notifications, and even after I told my phone to disable the app. Only after giving up & fully uninstalling the app did the ads stop.

  55. Chris Rose-avatar

Ads ads and even more ads. I wondered why my phone was displaying random adverts for no reason with nothing running, even on the lock screen which as far as I am aware is against google play terms of service for apps not related to the lock screen!!! If I could uninstall this app I would but apparently it came pre installed on the phone with no way to delete it. I'm now looking for a way to permanently block updates so I don't have to uninstall the updates each time this company release one. I will never use this app again!!!!

  56. A Google user-avatar

Whatever you do do not install this app if it is not on your phone already. It constantly pops up with ads even when your not in the app and stops you from what you were doing previous to the ad. It doesn't matter whether you're playing games, texting friends or on a phone call to your boss the ads will persist. I am very disappointed at how someone could see this as a moral way to make money, by take people's phones hostage and using them as if they were a billboard.

  57. A Google user-avatar

Easy to set up. Their list had 4 of 5 of our tv/dvd, and one is an old sony and a proscan!Very easy to use once have the code. Other apps are more difficult and then don't end up having your tv. Easiest one I've tried. Ads are very small area on the bottom of the remote. Not intrusive as other apps are. If your TV is not on the list, then get another app. Do not give bad rating because you can't use it. That does not tell how the actual app works. We want reviews that help.

  58. Carl S-avatar

I originally gave this remote a 5 star rating. I absolutely loved it. I loved the options, using it for netflix, xbox, tv, etc. HOWEVER, now.. in just one hour of using my phones on and off I've had 3 ads pop up. I'm not using the app anymore just for that. By advertising on my phone you are turning me away rather than pulling me back in. Your use of ads has a negative affect on your app. So thank you for annoying me today, already.

  59. _ Polyhive _-avatar

It won't let me uninstall. Every time I open up my phone it will give me a random ad. or when I am browsing the internet a ad comes on. It gets annoying at times. A few times it wasted all of my battery life. I thought my phone was off then when I needed it, I saw that peel remote was on and using all of the battery yet I never opened it.

  60. Bri an-avatar

Ads from hell. Full screen pop-up ads randomly show up that you are forced to close. I was driving along using Google Maps when one of Peel's ads took over the screen. I had to take my eyes off the road in order to touch and close the ad to allow me to get back to Google Maps. I would give this app zero stars if possible. Too bad I can't totally remove it from my Samsung device.

  61. Lalan sahu-avatar

This is the best app I have ever seen .so must install and use it. It is also very easy to use .it's so helpful and it work very fast and it's catching power is also too good you can use it from long distance also. as I have use it and I am sure that everyone should install it. It will sure very beneficial for you .it works on every digital things such as tv ,AC,projector,a nd whatever digital things you have . I love it too much.

  62. Howard Repp-avatar

I would only give this 1 star if it didn't work so well, but this is an extremely predatory app. I already have a shortcut for peel in a folder on my phone yet every day it creates a new page and shortcut on my phone. It also displays full screen ads every time you unlock your device if you are using the widget. Sometimes even without the widget. Extremely predatory and unethical way to attempt to force people to pay the $1/month fee to use the app.

This app is arguably the best remote control app with a lot of customisation options. Works great for my Sony TV. However, coming to my TataSky STB (India), the database has shown no models. There's an option to create a custom remote by entering IR values. But it's pretty hard to configure each button. Unfortunately, I have to look for other options.

The first and best remote app that I've used with my TVs/Cable. App came pre-installed on my Samsung Note 4 and I've used it with all of my devices. New issues: Without accessing the app, I get too many pop-up adds and pop-up screensavers starting at random which either won't close or brings another pop-up when the "close/x" is pressed. Today, I deleted this app because it disabled my device at start-up. It's happened on my other devices too. 5 star 🌟 for the remote. 0 for issues it causes.

  67. Bryan S-avatar

It works great as a remote. But it insists on being more than a remote, and on taking over your device to show you popup ads at random times *even when the app is not open*. It has "settings" that let you disable such things, but even if you turn them of it will continue anyway. If you remove all permissions from it via your phone's settings, it will still manage to insert its popups at random times. I have yet to find a working way to uninstall it.

  68. Justin Case-avatar

I cannot believe that this app with it's disruptive ads CANNOT BE UNINSTALLED. You are only able to disable it...It's like being held hostage, buy the 25$ plus a year for something as basic as a remote. There's no shortage of them. This is SO WRONG! I Hate Peel. It's deceptive and has invasive ads that pop up volume blaring even if the remote is not open.

  69. Gehad Mursi-avatar

The app always pops up on my phone and only allows me to mute it for a month. When I delete it, as it does not work with my TV, another one appears on my phone and I cannot get rid of it. It's like I'm FORCED to use it! This is not good customer service, we should not be forced to have the app and it keeps popping up on our phone. If I delete it, there should not be a replacement for it by force! It also keeps adding ads to my phone, even if I don't open the app!!!

  70. Ave Jay-avatar

it works, but it has the most annoying "features" of any app I've ever had the displeasure of using. I had disabled it for quite some time because it annoyed me daily, and recently re-enabled it out of sheer laziness. Not to worry, though, about 3 days later, I was reminded why I disabled it in the first place. I would uninstall it, but it's part of Samsung's bloatware package, so disabling is as close as I can get.

  71. Mikey Sm86-avatar

The Ads are extremely bad in the fact that they show up at the most inopportune times! Ads for this app show up in the middle of using other programs when the app is not being used in any way! Play a game and the Peel Remote adds pop up! Its a horrible thing to have adds from another program show up in the middle of a game and even a prepaid MOVIE!!! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE ADDS THAT APPEAR WHILE USING OTHER PROGRAMS AND APPS!!!

  72. Magdalena K-avatar

Very interfering app, comes up all the time with rubbish news and ads. The little icon is very badly placed, covering the keyboard and interfering with it while typing. Very enjoying app, which I can't get rid off because it's pre-installed. At least it should be possible to stop or pause it. Would love to uninstall if I could. Useless app!

  73. A Google user-avatar

Good Universal remote, I like that its set by location and remembers all the devices there. And I was ok with the ads at first, but recently there are other (non ad) aggressive pop ups - says its helping me save battery life, etc - that slows down my access to snooze alarm, capture a great action shots with my camera, etc. Will not even consider subscribing after that. A little too creepy.... looking for something else.

this remote works really good and it has nice features. I would love this app and use it a lot but it pops up a lot of ads. I'll be on a different app and then it'll just randomly pull up an ad and I'll have to wait 3 seconds until I can close the ad, it's ridiculous! the remote works great and all but I can't tolerate the ads. if just that problem was fixed i would absolutely love this app.

  75. Sierra Ortmyer-avatar

I love this app. It's easy to use and convenient bc between my 2 young kids and my mommy brain we 'lose' the remote mult times a day! I have 2 Samsungs I'm my apartment, 1 in the living room and 1 in the bedroom, and I love that it auto connects to whichever tv I'm standing in front of or nearby to. My only issue is the pop up adds which come up every time I unlock my phone or open my text. But other than that I love it!

  76. A Google user-avatar

First up, once the app is connected to your cable provider the app contains a fully usable program guide which will show you everything that is on right now. Instead of having to channel surf through stations, you can simply swipe through the programs, find what you want to watch and hit the link and the TV will turn to the correct channel. What is more impressive though,

  77. Chris Ludston-avatar

DON'T GET OR USE THIS APP...This app used to be great. I don't mind a few adds, it takes time and money to develop, and keep it current. BUT in the last year or two, they went nuts, and I can barely use my phone, while app is enabled. full screen pop up adds, lock screen out of nowhere, when it locks, I can't even make an emergency call. I have to wait it out, or restart my phone. I am going to try another IR app. Peel Smart is using about 5% battery an hour, even when closed.

  78. A Google user-avatar

This used to be an excellent app but with every new update it gets worse and worse. It uses to launch very quickly which was very ideal in every TV scenario but now it takes AGES and just shows ads first. Also it is constantly forgetting the assigned rooms and devices that I've made. This is just a useless app now because it's quicker and easier to just get up and use the actual TV remote. Also there are way too many pop up ads, please just stick them to banners instead.

  79. MCPE Astro-avatar

I used this app before yes it was good but when I use this phone and haven't even touched the app and I'm getting ads it's pretty annoying since I didn't realise I was getting a phone call so I went to pick up my phone and boom some ad came up. I missed that phone call. This is also a risk to people who need to call emergency services and you are delaying people from getting help due to your pop ups.

  80. ruby foxcroft-avatar

This app is very annoying. I'm trying to play a game or s one thing and loads of ads will start popping up. And because of my phone type I have to have it and can't uninstall it which is really annoying because it's so useless and I don't see the point. It is always in the way on the lock screen to. Please do another update and fix all these problems 😡

Ads are going to kill this app. I would understand if ads pop up when you use the app, but not every third time I open my phone! The ads will pop up even when I'm using another app. It is excessive and intrusive. This app is somewhat useful, but not worth the trouble of constant stream of ads. I have lowered the rating to one star. I don't even use this app anymore because it irritates me so much all day every day. It has interrupted me twice while updating my review! It's terrible!

  82. Gero-avatar

Never used, opened or needed it. It just came pre-installed and never bothered me, until I stared to get full screen ads every time i opened my phone! The sickest thing is, that there was no indication where the ads came from. Tried 2 'ad-searchers' that found nothing and then used an 'App-monitor' to find out who is spamming me. It was this app from a company that has no code of conduct. 'Force stop' and 'disable' was the solution to stop the spam on my phone. This kind of ruthless companies should be removed from the store.

  83. that guy-avatar

This is for the first version that got uploaded to my HTC M8. I love the simplicity it has and works all around with all my devices. However, I updated to the latest version out now (I have removed the update and gone back to the original version) it is horrible and my lawd the ads are shoved up your nose like there is no tomorrow. The original version gets a 5 star but the 3 stars is for the latest version.

  84. A Google user-avatar

Let's be clear, the app works very well. Nevertheless, it is the most annoying app I have ever experienced. I get that you need to incorporate ads to be able to offer it for free, But seeing ads when I'm not even using the app is excessive. I might be receiving an important or urgent call or text, and the "f"ing app interrupts (out of the blue) and starts showing you ads. The app is also running the whole time and It slows down your phone. THIS IS A FREAKEN TV REMOTE APP! I DO NOT NEED IT RUNNING THE WHOLE DAY!!! This tells me a lot about the kind of people the developers are and who I have no interest on making businesses with.

I used to love this app. I absolutely hate the full screen ads. I to disable. I also hate when I uninstall it I keeps on red own loading and updating because HTC does not support their own app anymore and use this as the default. super annoying. would even consider buying to remove ads. But they have now gone to a monthly subscription which is more annoying. I will not ever deal with this company again. I have become a huge hater for the app and the company. which are very strong words.

  86. Louis Costa-avatar

Used 4 years until recently. Updated a week ago, now like others ads pop up while not using the app. Uncalled for. And quite honestly, invasion of personal space. Lol. I get ads while using the app, but not when i am unlocking my device, browsing craigslist, or logging in to $ accounts. I have disabled the ad functions as far as i could. UNINSTALLED.

  87. First Last-avatar

This app used to be awesome about a year ago. Now it has fullscreen ads that pop up for literally no reason at all. I havent even used this in over a month and ive had ads pop up everyday constantly. Even if you force close the app it will still find a way to restart itself and run the ad anyways. This is literally what viruses are designed to do so i find it pretty ridiculous especially when most people do not have unlimited data and theres times the ads are OVER AN HOUR LONG. Thats not an exaggeration. DO NOT USE THIS APP. Hopefully i help a few people out with avoiding this.

*update! worst app ever! keeps coming back even after i uninstall it over and over, and putting up full page adds! save yourself and do not download. * might be a decent app if it would quit popping up adds all the time even when I try to uninstall it. how can I get this off my phone for good? I DON'T WANT IT! But it won't let me get rid of it.

If it wasn't for all the ads, I'd give this app 5 stars without hesitation, easy to set up and use, but you get absolutely bombarded with ads. You don't even have to be using the app or have used it in order for them to pop up. They'll interrupt whatever you're doing and it's incredibly frustrating. I get that you need to generate revenue, but the way you do that now is excessive.

  90. Javier Castro-avatar

App works, but the insane amount of unnecessary permissions it asks for is ridiculous. Why does it need to access my contacts, my call logs, my camara and my microphone? Also has plenty of adds, which I understand why and I'm ok with, but sometimes they replace my lock screen with a full time add even thouh I don't even have the app in the background.

  91. Darren Gourley-avatar

Used to work perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy S6. Easily 5*. Since recent update, it won't open at all. Have to uninstall updates, open Peel, update again, then it works perfectly... until the app closes - then it won't open again and you have to uninstall again... EVERY TIME you want to open the app. Come on Peel, sort this out please.

  92. Fred Thompson-avatar

The app is great if you dont own an s7, but all the popup ads are ridiculous, swipe to unlock oh must be time for an ad, open messages oh must be time for a 5 second video ad, doing something already? Must be time for another!?! Goodbye peel maybe one day i will see you again, maybe when i open you then you will show me an ad not when i start using my phone.

  93. Robert T.-avatar

I spend more time on this because of the ads it spews at you. Ads are not only when the app is open but you be on any other app and get big fullscreen ad! It even says from peel remote! The phone is off and booom... full page ad... I have a random screenshot in my photos of guess what... an ad! I went to click an app icon, there was an ad about to open (nitoced peel logo on the bottom) and ended up clicking an ad!

  94. Galen Xirxes-avatar

The app itself does a great job as a remote. But the ads are a no-go for me. There are tons of free remote apps out there and I'll gladly have some ads, but not this. My phone rings, I pick it up, go to answer, and an AD pops up to block me from answering my phone! Are you kidding me?! Happens all the time. Shame, it was such a good remote app, but not worth the trouble. You couldn't pay ME $0.99/mo to keep this thing!

  95. john wildish-avatar

a great idea. but the ads are the worst of any app. nothing is this intrusive.ok so you can buy the app but not for a set price but a subscription. the problem with this model is that you get so pissed off with all the full screen ads popping up(even when not using the app) you dont learn to love or need the app then buy it because you want it, instead the developer seems to think the correct sales model is 'its expensive to maintain so have full page apps ya bastard's' howabout a trial version?

  96. A Google user-avatar

A great app to have. A lot of applications that help you in accessing the devices but the peel app is free of cost and comes with the set of Amazing features added to it and most certainly in a good way. 100. A GREAT APP!! So, when I don't have the remote and I was not sure if I will get the remote in the market, this app is just v much in use and works very well in all certa

  97. steve rogan-avatar

This is the most intrusive and abusive app I have ever encountered. Not only did I not choose to install it - it came with some update - but it continuously opens and displays ads when I go to use my phone. I often cannot unlock my phone or use other apps without the process being interrupted by video ads. What if I need to call emergency services but a video ad starts to play instead? Disgraceful app. Oh and the remote doesn't scroll properly either, rendering its 1 feature useless. Zero stars!

  98. EsKay Alsatian-avatar

great app, ads while using a great app okay sure! people need to get paid especially when a good app made, show support. but when i am not using the app, do not have it open and it forces ads on my screen while i am trying to use my phone, texting, on call, gps and or any other time i am not even using the app. Forget that instant uninstall and a 1 star review, loved this but not worth the absolutely insanely intrusive ads.

  99. A Google user-avatar

It's great especially when you can't find your tv remote. It's cool and convenience sometimes. The reason I gave it 4 starts is because of the adds that pop up when you turn the screen of your phone on, right when you're trying to make a call or whatever. Not good in cases of emergencyemergency... Other than that love it!

I liked this app when I first got it. But after the last several updates the remote forgets my settings, I have to start over room to room, its buggy if you have same brand surround sound system in more than one area, it's buggy if you have different models of the same tv brand in different rooms. It pops up on my lock screen with dumb ads and puts its remote on my lock screen in the way of my pin box to unlock my phone even though I've set the settings to prevent notifications and blocked my lock screen. Ugh it's been a nightmare.
