The App works well but is missing essential features that I need, including step adjustment, export of history detail, and Lap identification and notes. Accupedo that I still use has all those features. However, the backup failed me and I've been unable to retrieve the last year's data. Unfortunately, I relied on the automatic backup to Google Drive that I cannot locate. Thus, I've been looking for an alternative. Pedometer - Step Counter Free & Calorie Counter falls short, unfortunately.

apk I take a brief morning walk every day- same route, same duration. There is a significant disparity between my daily steps (sometimes double what they were the day before), as well as my distance (ranges between .25 to 3.7 miles, even though it is the same distance every day). Not sure what accounts for the disparity but since I am simply using this app as a casual motivational tool and not an actual training tool, I'm okay with the functional error... except for the days it counts zero.

I love this app and used it for years and often, but I updated it today and now it suddenly won't work without a new permission for "physical activity access." I don't understand how this might impact my privacy, and looking it up gave mixed information. I specifically liked this app because the developers seemed to take privacy seriously. I hope this is resolved or clarified soon, because I'm unlikely to use it again otherwise.

  4. Daniel Oakleaf-avatar

After the last update it didn't record several days of walking I did. It registered 0 for each day. I've had this app for 3 years, and it has never shut itself off before. Not a bug either, it asked me to update my access and settings before I could use it again. Had I known this, I'd have shut off all updates permanently to this app.

  5. Lisa Jackson-avatar

    Lisa Jackson

The only thing I wish I could do on this app is pin it so it doesn't accidentally stop when I'm on the treadmill while listening to music. It's like I have to toggle back and forth to set up my songs and keep the correct track of steps and miles.

  6. Larry Chisholm-avatar

    Larry Chisholm

I have used this app for about two months. Today was cold and rainy, so I walked a regular route that is only 2100 steps. When I got back the app only registered 1570 steps. I noticed when I started that it took about 100 steps before the count even started. Guess I'll start looking for a more consistent pedometer. Thanks for responding. I had the app on your recommended settings for two months and it worked well, then it just failed.

  7. kumar ganesan-avatar

The app has worked up to standard for about 4 months, and has been pretty helpful for tracking my daily runs. For the last 3 runs/days I have run almost the same 3 mile routine. The app has tracked anywhere from around .9 miles to 1.4 for those durations. When I look at the map it doesn't show the correct route it is just showing diagonal lines from different points. I thought it had to do with my wifi being on so I turned it off same thing happened.

I sent them email several times regarding restoring my previous data. I had to uninstall the app because it wasn't opening last week. Because google was having issues at their end. When I reinstalled it.All data were gone. Still Pedometer step counter did not restore my previous data.

Just downloaded it and it seems very straightforward and easy to understand period being in my early thirties and trying to stay in shape in preparation for a little bundle of joy that we are planning to have in the next year. Hopefully this will get me on track.

STOP LETTING YOUR ADS MUTE MY PHONE! The ads and the timings that they pop up are TOTALLY INCONVENIENT times for the way I like to watch or listen to media while I walk...It mutes what you are watching for No reason and again just pop up at random at times...Just a PAIN and there are Many other apps that manage it intelligently...I have to uninstall and give big thumbs down until they fix.

  11. Nellie Kampmann-avatar

    Nellie Kampmann

It doesn't work after the last update. I noticed recently that it stopped giving me a daily update. When I checked it after a long walk this morning, I found out why. It wasn't counting my steps at all. Since then, it has started counting again, but for only one out of every two or 3 steps I take. Useless.

  12. Matthew Cochran-avatar

I like the app, but I've tapped out most of the milestones besides walking to the center of the earth. I wish they would add more levels of everything.

  13. Genevieve Del Principe-avatar

The app is great for many things ... Goal setting, tracking, etc. It doesn't account for inclines and caloric burn pertaining to that but oh well.... And if Google play services and their updates are functioning properly, then it's a great app!

  14. Nicki H.-avatar

    Nicki H.

It defaults to always on in the background. I'm not always walking around with my phone so the steps are inaccurate. It failed to record a long hike even though it was on and my phone with me so, I don't know. Not accurate enough for my needs probably. I'd like to just turn it on when I need it and have it work as intended.

  15. Nia Redmon-avatar

This app works very good with very few ads. It is great had to factory reset my phone and lost my pedometer. I was close to 500 miles and nearly a year working with it. Can I get my previous credits back?

  18. Fresh Aire-avatar

Easy to use. Cheering and confetti for reaching goal each day is embarrassingly motivating 😋. I don't care about calories do don't use that part. Keep the phone on your body as much as possible to capture all your steps.

I love this app it helps me a lot it's very encouraging however when I switch phones and my husband tried to restore all my data on to the new phone I lost everything I've been working I've been doing this for over a year and now I'm starting over again so I'm a little sad about that other than that this app is really great I like it the only reason why I gave it four stars is because it didn't save my progress and I have to start all over again so that makes me sad

Okay I was wrong on my last edit I did indeed recieve my acheivment. it appears i had mistaken combo days. This is app is amazing 10/10 does it's purpose and the achievments act as a good motivator! I like hoe you can set the minimum amount of steps.

Works very well for counting while walking, but doesnt seem to be able to tell when you increase pace. I tried using it to time my distance and time for running, and after 3 miles it had only counted just under two even with my sensitivity high

  61. Teddy Vee-avatar

This this app works just fine and keeps me on my toes. This is strictly for walking as it is not that accurate with a jog or pedaling a bicycle.

  62. Nathan Peterson-avatar

Very good, not too pushy and only $2.99 not to have ads

  63. Angela Castano-avatar

    Angela Castano

It does a relatively good job counting steps. I sincerely appreciate that there are goals and levels to keep interest and there is no cost associated. So many apps boast "free", only to find out that to access ANY function of use, there is a cost involved. It's probably just my phone or some buildings (no fault of app), but I wish it could count steps in my grocery store and other stores that have limited internet access because of their WiFi network. Overall, it's great! Thanks so much!

  64. Ella Dempsey-avatar

    Ella Dempsey

I have been using this close to a year.. was working great. 4 days ago I had over my 6000 step goal for over 300 days and the next morning it only had one step for the day. Now I have to start all over for my 365 day badge. I was so disappointed !! I love getting the progress badges. And it broke my streak... Still using the app tho.

  65. Ana Maria Aguilar-avatar

    Ana Maria Aguilar

I can't input info manually when it has stopped counting steps. I usually walk with friends and if my phone has stopped counting steps, their pedometer will keep on working and they would give me the amount of steps. However, I can't write that input manually in this pedometer app.

  66. Nick Lewis-avatar

    Nick Lewis

Previous rating: 5Stars. it counts steps and records your progress accurately, has some great goals, milestones etc...but since one of the most recent updates this app has made it impossible to count steps when background data is off and when battery is restricted. It literally stops counting steps. When background data is on And the battery is not restricted, this app will drain your battery! Do not use this app if you don't want to have to constantly charge your phone multiple times per day!!

  67. A Patellaro-avatar

    A Patellaro

Became my favorite pedometer for awhile now. I love how you can go back days and check all your information, which I do for monthly spreadsheet logging. My one issue I've been having recently is the floating notification for the app has disappeared and I can't figure out how to get it back. Please help !

  68. Willie Arbuckle-avatar

    Willie Arbuckle

Uninstalled. Any developer who thinks their app is the single most important app on my device such that they constantly self-launch (5 minutes after I force close) loses the right to be on my device. Unappealing UI. I'll find something less obnoxious. Preference allows to shut off notification bar but it doesn't work. Can't edit time; only select an hour range.

  69. Ed Clemena-avatar

    Ed Clemena

I have started to get back into shape and this app has been a great positive goal setter for me. It has tracked my steps for the last three months and has motivated me by the goals it help me achieve each day. A much-needed app to help me to lose weight.

I can honestly say that this app is much more than I expected. I would be satisfied w/step counter alone but this includes that&so much more.I really appreciate how it tells u daily what you've achieved w/#of steps, calories lost also includes how many days you've been using app which is very handy.I love how it can show u a map of your walks u take&u can save the gps maps 4 future reference. Today was my first time using this app but I loved it. It quickly calculates your steps, how many calories you have burned, how far you have walked and how many more steps you need to meet your goal. It really encouraged me to keep going. I loved watching the numbers.

Simplest pedometer, keeps your steps. Only problem is when you Factory reset your phone, or get a new one, you lose your records. I keep putting it on my phone, though. Has ads, but pretty unobtrusive.

Was a great app but due to the age of phone and its battery I had to delete the app as it drained my phone. battery quickly. Plan on picking it up again as soon as I start with a new phone company. SPRINT has been a TERRIBLE company to deal with. Avoid and RUN AWAY from SPRINT if you can

  75. Tracy-avatar

For a little while it worked fine. I liked that it a sensitivity reading. I was up to 100 days of walking & Level 9. But for the last week I have walked a lot & it barely reads the steps. I even made it more sensitive to movement... no change. Then today I looked at it as I was beginning to go out & though I walked over a mile, it recorded only 120 steps. Then I looked at it again and ALL my Data, steps, levels, all gone & I hadn't done anything, so I am uninstalling & look for a better one.

The app seems to have a little bit of difficulty tracking steps if the clothing you're wearing doesn't have tight pockets (i.e. sweats and gym shorts), but I have not encountered any other issues.

So, i had a watch that broke awhile back and I was looking for an app to count steps and such. All the ones I had crashed or didnt want to work when I played Pokemon Go. This ap is always open and even gives encouragement even when you don't get many steps in. I have had it for a bit of time and I do really like it.

Step counters never worked for me. For one, I could never set it when I had no instructions. There were no step counters or cell phones. I'm 73 and now have the technology that all I need do is put this in my pocket! It tracks every day which is a nice feature . It really motivates me to keep walking. I've had 5 surgeries on my right knee surgery 😫 yes, 5 so it's very important to have something to rely on. This is a great app for the young and old!! Store bought aren't as good.

I like that it keeps track of all my step each day , and it keeps during the month too. I can compare how I'm doing. . It's very informative every morning I get notice of how many steps I did the day b 4. My only complaint is that it uses a lot of battery while I'm not using it. I need to pause it after I'm done walking but I 4 get. Its awesome ottherwise

I am sad this app no longer works. I followed the tips but it still just works for a few minutes then locks up & stops counting steps. There is no fix except a total shut down & restart of phone. Even then not always. Seems to be a pop ad locking the app or a timed lock screen. Never made a difference before. An seeking a new app

Love it! QUESTION: I would love the app to allow you to physically add your activity when you've forgotten/left your phone at home. EX: I know the amt. of distance i walk at the track daily but left my phone at home, if I could add that amt myself thru the app. my daily totals would be correct when I look back at all my totals. Possible? I LOVE THE APP AND WILL CONTINUE RECOMMENDING IT! THX. THATS REMARKABLE! IT WAS THERE ALL THE TIME!!!!! LOVE THIS APP!! (AND THE TEAM THAT SUPPORTS IT) 10☆'S

Really good app for measuring your steps. My doctor recently told me that I have to be more active after a dx of high cholesterol and pre-diabetes. This app is my constant companion which allows me to go to the next level - free - and because I can look back at what I did yesterday, I can challenge myself to do a bit more each day.

I had to download a pedometer app for online school, and this is by far the best one there! I went through probably 3 apps before downloading and keeping this one. It's simple and straightforward, and always gets your steps no matter how you're holding your phone. Perfect for me!

Took me a little while to figure out the "pause" feature. But this app does just what I need, even calculates my stride length based on my height and weight. I could never figure out my stride length with an actual pedometer. It's great! It does what I need it to do!

I used this app for quite a few years on my LG phone, I have a new Samsung Galaxy and every so often it fails to count my steps, like this morning I walked my regular route and instead of ending up close to 4,000 steps I have 272. Time to look for another app.

Awesome! Survivor of cancer. Hasn't been a year but praying. This is simple and I am hitting goals. Doc says have to move and with the steps counted its challenging myself to get more each day. Not tech savvy so thank you for making it doable for me. Age 66 and the challenge is on. Advice to anyone who reads this . . . Try it . . . won't regret it.

I love this phone app b/c its easier to use than the other brand I had to wear on my wrist. I can't wear jewelry or anything of that nature at work so I would have to put the watch band in my jeans pocket. This phone app stays in my back pocket and is always available in the morning when I take my phone off the charger. 👍

This app is super easy to use and has helped keep me focused on my goals. I have used similar tracking apps before and so far this one works the best. I like that it doesn't rely on barcodes and it does a fairly good job recognizing non-barcoded food.

I try to walk enough to burn at least 1,000 calories daily. Somehow, the number of steps required to achieve this goal varies from 19,000 to 23,000. The app doesn't work well unless your phone is tight to your body (meaning if you're wearing shorts or sweats it won't count as well as if you're wearing jeans).

Says in app purchases but nothing about a yearly subscription amount. Charged me over $40 thru google play. I would never pay an app to count my steps. When you find out its not FREE and cancel they will not even prorate a refund. They just pocket your $.

Guys I ended up getting this app and just kept walking. The walking fever hit me. Clocked 10,000 the first day, hit 90,000 the next and I just haven't stopped walking. No one knows where I am but I've lost 30 lbs in a month and now everyone around me speaks a new language. No clue what's happening or what country I'm in but at least I've found a new favorite hobby and am going all sorts of new places

Worked well for me. On my previous phone it outperformed Google Fit for accuracy when counting steps. Only issue I've had is it sometimes counting steps while driving. The suggested fix, pausing the app while driving, will work, except I often forget to pause, or if I do pause it, then I forget to unpause, so that solution doesn't work for me. On my current phone Google fit is more accurate than this one, (mainly due to the counting while driving issue) so I don't need this one as much as I did before. The achievements are not the reason I got this app, just wanted something to count my steps, but it is nice to get the encouragement that I have passed certain milestones. It keeps a history so you can look back at how you did in the past and how you have progressed (or regressed, as the case may be). All in all I would recommend this app, especially if you want a general count of steps and the exact number is not as important, or if you are better than me at remembering to pause during driving and to unpause afterward.

Five stars because it does exactly what it says it does, and does it well. It counts steps. That's it. Not a multi-training platform for walking and cycling or something else. It measures your speed across the ground, and when that speed exceeds walking or running speed, it stops counting. So of no use at all for cycling - but its maker never said it was. (For cycling, I use Strava, which will measure many exercises, but burn battery quite a bit; this does not do that). Summary: this is a step counter and nothing else at all. It does it incredibly well.

Good app, easy to use and understand. I enjoy seeing how many steps I take in a day, without having a million different devices on me. I had to turn the sensitivity to the lowest setting, but that's totally fine....I generally walk more like I'm marching. XD I definitely recommend this app if you want to easily track your steps and the subsequent calories burned. :)

Simple and easy to use and the information it provides is useful and interesting with reward screens to let you know that you hit your goals. You can calibrate it to your exact stride (and weight) and the results become highly accurate . That said, you don't have to be that fussy to get results. Add the fact that the app does not nag to the point you want to hurl yourself over a cliff and I can sum it up wirh "I really like it a lot".

  126. IraQNid-avatar

It does more than count your steps. It figures calories lost, has a monthly tracker showing your history daily, you can tap the day(s) you want to review and get a detailed breakdown of information. You can set health goals like lose weight, stay fit, etc. I skip the ads with the back button on my phone. It stays running in the background tucked out of the way. So far I haven't noticed any significant battery drain while it is in use. Has voice options I never use.

Was hoping this would be different from the other top app, but no. I'm non-binary and medically transitioning, so the first screen being a binary gender select screen made it impossible. I get that it's a convenient shorthand for metabolism and walking style, but if I pick either option, one of those things will be incorrect.

Awesome Pedometer App. It's accurate. Everything is on the same screen: calories burned, steps, miles and the time it took you do it. Bonus: It makes a cheering sound with an applause when you pass a goal (which I did NOT set) for example, the first time I did 10k steps. It automatically resets every day. I highly recommend downloading this app.

  129. Victoria Dyugovsky-avatar

    Victoria Dyugovsky

Did not work for me: apparently, it counted my steps based on the distance I covered, not actual number of steps - step counter was WAY off! Since I'm recovering after the knee surgery and walk very slowly it does make the difference to me: to know how many steps - accurately! - I can do every day, to track my progress. Will not be using it.

I like this app a lot, however, it is to easy to erase your daily progress. In the past month I have had at least 2 days of steps deleted, and I did not do it myself. This app would be unspeakably the best once you fix that bug. Suggestion make it where you need to put a password to ensure deleting daily progress work is not gone unless you really want it, or add something that will allow you to re-input your daily progress.

  132. Keys to Inspire-avatar

    Keys to Inspire

This is a very good app for step tracking. There is a slight delay in logging steps so real-time totals are not immediately visible. The step information is accurate for the default sensitivity setting. The app's badge system and alerts (customizable) incentivize personal fitness. The step counter does not link with GPS, so battery life is saved. Step totals are readily accessible through any phone's pulldown/notification pane. The app is free with ads. I recommend it!

  133. Stetson Goforth-avatar

When it works, it works fine. Every so many days it stops counting steps and I have to uninstall and reinstall, no other way to make it resume it's task. So much for providing an incentive. Never mind telling me I've walked half a marathon. Just keep on counting and leave the rest to me. Sorry, I have to take away as many stars as I can, as my usual trick to make the app work (uninstall and reinstall) didn't work this time. It's time to post ways and look for a different app.

If you want to set a step count goal, this is the perfect app. It's easy to use & provides a history of the number of steps taken every day. It also shows if you met your goal, and how many days in a row your goal was met! For me, it provides incentive to increase my step count goal as I meet the goals I set up over a target period of time!

I had been using this, was happy with it, but was thinking a fitbit would be more convienent, with it on my wrist rather than always having phone in pocket. Well, fitbit was junk, not accurate at all. I am back to this pedometer, love it, and is a lot more accurate step tracker than fit bit, and free. Thank you to whomever makes it possible. I highly reccomend, and am not bothered by lots of add's like I had read about in other reviews. Hardly aware of them at all.

I found this app on 9/12/2019, and it is by far my new favorite. Granted, I don't have a Fitbit, Apple watch, or any other gadget that does the same thing. That said, this app is inspirational. It throws me a little party when I break a personal record, gives me the occasional reminder regarding my progress, it's quick and easy to navigate, and I LOVE its name, which makes it very easy to find on my phone. Simple, straightforward, and supes user friendly. Kudos to the developers.

Great app! Very helpful in tracking steps and calories. Daily step goal can be customized to be higher or lower. Only thing I'd change is that at the end of the day, the app automatically rounds miles walked up or down. (So if I walked 2.4 miles, the app rounds it down to 2 miles.) That's just a personal preference and other than that, highly reccomend this app.

I love it! I think it's just as good if not better than using a Fitbit! I'd even go as far to say as better because Fitbits are on the expensive side plus you have to keep your Fit bit charged. Since this is an app all you gotta worry about is keeping one thing charged. I really like the badge earning quality of it too, makes you feel like you are accomplishing so goals and that is crucial for the beginning when weight loss hasn't started yet! I definitely recommend giving it a try!! 🤘🏻😁

Strange layout in portrait on my Android, but I'm not interested in the layout. The app seems to be aptly senistive so far. I have nothing to compare it to besides itself. This provides a great way to mindlessly track and compare your habits. (Maybe your partner was right.) It also lays out in a readable and useful manner. There are no guarantees, but for now I just appreciate being the recipient of your noble goal and appreciate the risk and effort it takes to make things work better.

App functions well: it does a good job registering steps without draining the battery, but when it decides it's time for an ad, it's borderline malware. Full screen, back button disabled, no way to close it. Absolutely ruins the user experience of an otherwise really good app. I get that a free app needs to earn revenue, but this is a terrible way to go about it.

This is one of the most accurate pedometers I have found and believe me I downloaded several to compare! I only give it 4 stars because the calorie count is off I believe. Normal 10,000 = 500kcal, but on this app it's a bit different. Doesn't bother me though because I just add it up myself :) I would recommend! Also, no annoying adds and it's easy to work with!

Yet again, another pedometer app that counts ghost steps while I am sleeping and my phone is at rest. This is complicated to use as what you would think you would tap to get things started didn't take you where you needed to go. I had to accidentally find the start and pause buttons after I initially started using the app. Also, it counted way more steps than I actually counted myself while I was walking. I wanted to check it's accuracy. It counted about 25 more steps than I actually took.

If you want an app that drains 33% of your battery get this one. I have a brand newish phone and my battery always lasted all day. Now I'm having to charge it after 4 hours. My battery was great until I installed this app. Not sure if it is just on my phone, but I'll change my review is the developer tests it out on a like phone. 2 stars because the app worked great. But if my battery isn't lasting all day, it's useless.

Recently started calorie counting and walking. Very useful for tracking how many calories I burned and how long/far I walked.
