requires following permissions on your android device.

precise location (GPS and network-based)
Allows the app to get your precise location using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or network location sources such as cell towers and Wi-Fi. These location services must be turned on and available to your device for the app to use them. Apps may use this to determine where you are, and may consume additional battery power.

view Wi-Fi connections
Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and name of connected Wi-Fi devices.

Allows the app to take pictures and videos with the camera. This permission allows the app to use the camera at any time without your confirmation.

disable your screen lock
Allows the app to disable the keylock and any associated password security. For example, the phone disables the keylock when receiving an incoming phone call, then re-enables the keylock when the call is finished.

Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.

Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.

Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.

draw over other apps
Allows the app to draw on top of other applications or parts of the user interface. They may interfere with your use of the interface in any application, or change what you think you are seeing in other applications.

prevent phone from sleeping

Worked OK on Android 6.0, but under Android 10, it has not worked correctly a single day. Some days, count is 0, for example, today, walked and rode bike for an hour, it counted 700 steps. Previously, that would have been 4500-6000 steps. Completely unreliable.

  2. Cherronda G-avatar

    Cherronda G

this is a absolutely amazing and wonderful app to have I love how it counts my steps even when I'm not on a run or using my GPS it's a good way of checking to be sure that you're getting enough steps in a day I recommend this app to each and every person it really helps build your self-esteem and it's a great motivational tool👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  3. Rachna Patel-avatar

    Rachna Patel

I like this app. The only problem that I have that is whenever I take a U-turn it adds 1 km extra and then it keeps on adding extra meters so I'm not able to get the correct information. Would rate it 5 stars if this glitch is resolved.

  4. Norman-avatar

Not a fan. Used it for about a week and sometimes it shows me my steps and sometimes it decides that I have done 0 steps even when it congratulates me for doing 6000 steps so far today... A lot of its more interesting features are gated behind a pay wall which is my second big reason for uninstall ING this app. I think every App should tell you what features are available to free users and what's available to subscription users on the App's store page so you can see if it's worth your time.

Connected to Garmin Connect as data source. But Pacer never syncs with Garmin to show updates on steps. I left both apps running for whole day and pacer still shows 0 steps while Garmin shows 10k. Contacted support, but as it is only via email, it is very slow and now I am lagging in my challenges even though garmin has correctly captured steps I have taken - just because Pacer app does not sync with Garmin Connect. Support team is courteous and friendly willing to listen and find a solution.

  6. Marc Hulley-avatar

    Marc Hulley

This has been a great way for me to track how well I keeping up goals to live a healthier life. Keeps me motivated to increase my steps. Good for my heart. In many ways. Can see results every day and know if I slacking.

  7. TheHopesLost-avatar

Like most of the step counters on the play store, this one fails to do its main function, but unlike the others, this one is filled with bloat, and spams you with the offer to pay for this mess.

  8. AnnCam Gilb-avatar

    AnnCam Gilb

I love the app, however don't like the latest update. It was so much easier to read before this 'choice' thing. It lets you choose what you want but then doesnt keep that setting. Otherwise I love it!

  9. Emily Runsvold-avatar

    Emily Runsvold

Downloaded it for a college class, kept it cause it was fun and useful. I like that it tells you how active you've been based on your steps and that it gives you a progress bar as a visual.

  10. Kathy Horstman-avatar

    Kathy Horstman

Pretty good. Great for step tracking, keeping track of your weight, etc. They don't tell you what GPS exercise is, but maybe I'm supposed to know that already, outside of this app.

  11. RaeRae MacKay-avatar

    RaeRae MacKay

Recent update messed things up. Doesnt track properly. I'll input 7 hours of leisure walking and it will say 1200 calories burnt but then on the home page is says only 300 calories. Shame, I liked this app and have used it for over a year now. Time to find a new one!

  12. Irene Tracey-avatar

    Irene Tracey

Love this app..we have walked 1732 miles during the first covid year and it has helped us to keep going...we are 68 and 69 so not youngsters...look forward to hearing how far we have walked and the pace..great app

  13. Kim Gorman-avatar

    Kim Gorman

Walk for 90 mins pacer tells me I've only walked for 38 mins. Plus if you keep the app open - in the vague hope it will keep running - it eats up battery. Was ok before last upgrade. Now it's almost useless.

  14. Susan Wiley-avatar

    Susan Wiley

Update renders app nonfunctional. I was trying to decide for which fitness apps I would continue paid subscriptions. Pacer gets the chop since it isn't syncing with anything. I liked the idea behind this though, it just needs to actually work.

  15. Dec Frew-avatar

    Dec Frew

I have tried many different running apps and none had given me the satisfaction wanted. I recently started hsing Pacer as I have seen good reviews by it. I have only been on 2 runs with it but the accuracy is there. The data given almost perfect. I will update this after a few months.

  16. Joseph Sral-avatar

So far ( 3 days) this app works great! I'm sure the subscription service is great, but for my needs, the free offering is just what I've been looking for.

  17. Debra King-avatar

    Debra King

It won't stop giving me updates every 5 minutes (outloud), I can't shut it off, and it won't let me uninstall the app. I've tried uninstall multiple times since last night.

    Fleur Pickering

Accurate counter and had been enjoying the app for a week but now can't open the app. The counter is still working at top of my android phone, no joy with forced stop or restarting phone. Cleared up battery and memory, but still can't get back into the app

  22. Abhishek Sharma-avatar

    Abhishek Sharma

Excellent app but grp listing should be sorted according to steps not heart points. If I have done maximum steps in a grp and has no heart points (likes ) I will be always down the listing that is demotivating

  23. Anny Mang-avatar

    Anny Mang

I really like this app. Easy to use.. Can't wait to start a virtual marathon with it. The only thing I find annoying is that it doesn't have an option for the Huawei smartwatch or band. That's sad...

  24. Iretunde Olukoya-avatar

I would prefer an app that stays on. It seems to turn itself off on day 3. I like it for step counting but it's usually not turned on. Anyone have a solution?

  27. MzChylc-avatar

Stopped counting it hasn't been accurate on my steps. It tracks it but when I look at my total for a week it says something that was counted the same time last year. Really annoying

EDIT: Pacer support was helpful in showing where/how to connect Pacer to MyFitnessPal, which was *not initially intuitive, given the prompt comes from MyFitnessPal but the integration steps come from Pacer, However, the integration with MyFtinessPal does not function properly. Pacer is uploading duplicative lines into MyFitnessPal with the auto sync - calories derived from running as well as calories derived "steps" too (which includes steps taken during my running). So, I have double calorie-burns being logged. Not only that, the calories burned during "steps" is incredibly overstated and not realistic. I don't want inflated calories derived from steps automatically synced with MyFitnessPal - I just want the workouts only synched. That is not an option. It sounds like a small difference but if you are meticulously tracking the calories derived from workouts it is a big difference. Additionally, you can't edit the distance in a run, even if the app records it incorrectly. This is a feature the Nike running app allows. It is useful when for some reason the app or the GPS malfunctions and does not get an accurate read on distance/time - which most certainly does happen. Original post: I downloaded this because the it is supposed to connect with MyFItnessPal but it does not. There is a link within MyFitnessPal but it only leads to the App Store and when Pacer was downloaded and opened it would not connect to MyFitnessPal. Additionally, there is nowhere within the app to update your weight so it can accurately track calories per run.

Finally I realize that I have to hold phone in my hand to make this app count my steps . Because if I put my phone on my waistbag, this app will stop count even I'm walking about 6km this app only count 1km . I don't think this is right in counting steps 🧐

Great for tracking steps and documenting routes. Able to look back and see which routes could help me get to my daily goal. Can choose a particular route for the appropriate amount of time I may have available for that day or weather conditions. Registers elevation change and average mile per hour. GPS also shows area so you can change your route on the fly if weather changes or you need a short cut to get home quicker.

  51. Ayushi Asthana-avatar

Keeps reducing my step count in a challenge if i do any activity tagging in google fit like mark a set of steps as treadmill or elliptical. Technically any manual addition should be ignored, not automatically synced and tagged activities. This just hugely impacts my performance and is honestly very demotivational measurement technique as I get most of my steps in from a set of activities not just walking and i want to have some behaviour tagging for it in google fit.😐

Hasn't been working for me since I changed to another phone. Not tracking my miles or steps the right way. I would delete the app but I have lots of friends I enjoy talking with. Still isn't working for me on tracking miles and steps I've done. Sorry app!! This app still has not been working for me. Even if I send an email it doesn't solve the problem! Wow!!!

  63. Earthbound Spirit-avatar

    Earthbound Spirit

App would be better if I didn't have to remember to open it and press start. I almost never remember and then I walk all day at work and find at the end of the day that I didn't get a count because I forgot to start it. Also, I run an app that uses location data and counts double the steps. Is there a placement issue that causes this? If I walk at 3mph for 8 hours the counter only shows a walking time of 30 minutes what's the problem there? My screen is off the whole time not just on for 30 mi

If I could give this app zero stars I would. It constantly switches itself off. I only have it because I needed it with another app. Needless to say I shall be looking at this other app to see if something else will work with it rather than this pointless POS. Addendum: since an update this app works really well and "does what it says on the tin", so to speak. More than happy with the "new" version.

I like this app, I've done 6 medals already. Sometimes I find it a bit tricky to get to the bit I need. Also I havent figured out how to sign up for another challenge on the app...I dont think you can ?? I love seeing how far I've walked and how far I have left, it has definitely kept me motivated. Its also good that I can manually add my walk from the treadmill. The medals are really good quality too.

A good app overall. The free version connects with my Garmin tracker which is the most important for me. Four stars because navigation could be easier and because the notification dot for the messages never goes away.

  74. Lorri Kearns-avatar

    Lorri Kearns

I have used the free version for more than one year. It is an accurate step counter. There are challenge groups to join monthly if you choose. My only complaint is it sometimes (once every month or two) freezes and stops counting steps for an unknown reason. If it didn't do that, I would rate this app 5 stars.

Can't connect to my Samsung galaxy watch 3. I installed this app because I had bought a virtual challenge on website. But it's not fun at all to input all my running activities manually. You are losing a lot of potential users because of this "no samsung" policy. Otherwise the app looks great. I would even pay for it if I could pair with my watch.

Use this App to check my KoreTrak watch. This App also maps my daily walks. If you're doing Pacer Challenges it will automatically update your progress. Very happy with it. I would have given this app 5 stars up until last night. I closed the app and pressed "finish" yet it announced my miles while I was in a meeting and was very loud and distracting! I was unable to quiet the app after closing the window I had to entirely shut off my phone. Please fix this so it ends when the window is closed thank you

The timer and miles counter runs continuously. They don't stop when one isn't exercising.

I have used the app to complete 2 trails.. the 2nd one i paid for and then surprised with the fact i couldnt do the trail unless i paid premium which if i had been told this id not have done a second one. Then once completed the 2nd trail my pedometer stopped working. If i cancel my subscription am i still going to recieve both medals as i havent got the 1st one yet either??. I did enjoy the app seeing pictures along the route you had chosen made it little more fun for me and my daughter

So I'll start off by saying I think this is the first review I've ever written on anything... but after switching phones... this app double tracks my steps... and quadruples my calories per step. As a 6' 1", 220 lb. Male... this app claims almost 1600 calories per 7,000 steps(steps were half that) and quick research suggests the calories are 4 times less... this app is alright if you don't actually care.

Excellent. So far no problems. I am able to keep track of my workout and it helps me a lot. Lately I am having a lot of problems. The app stops counting steps and time within thirty minutes of my starting my activiy. I reinstalled it but the problem persists. What canni do?

The one thing I wish this app would do that I miss about Samsung health is stopping the timer when it detects you've stopped moving (I walk as my form of exercise, and the Samsung app stopped when you stopped, and resumes when it senses you're moving again). Other than that, it's a good app.

Would like to rate higher but... It went wacko with steps/mileage over twice what another system (and maps) measured. When I deleted bogus data and entered activity manually, the new data is not shown in trends. Defeats the purpose of tracking your activity.

Great app for those starting out on their movement adventure. The medals are awesome and good quality. However the app struggles to accept data from your Fitbit AND accept manual input on the same day. Updates around that would be great.

Great app which encourages me to keep walking. BUT I am not able to share my posts with my followers and to see their posts as well. I saved them whenever I went for a walk, so, of course, I can find them in the personal record/history tap, but not on my feed. :(

I can't sign up or log in to the app. I tried to follow the steps to send a technical message to the app but there isn't anything at the "bottom right hand of the" Explore" for me to click. It is as if there are many people developing the app and nobody knows what is going on.

The app should offer incentives like the app Step up go does. This way you will have more users plus you make walking a habit for people to cultivate. I also see a huge difference in calories burnt in your app vs SSG. Your app shows higher calories burnt. It's hard to know which app is accurate.

I really love to keep track of my steps I do daily and its free to use unless you want to go and get a coach trainer than it cost monthly but I really love this app and I recomend it for others to use to keep track of their steps and to reach their goal and they can always increase it when they reach their goals and for me this app is accurate on the steps and miles maybe calories.
