Record a sighting using OzAtlas app: Did you see something? Photograph something? Contribute your sighting to the Atlas of Living Australia. About the Atlas The Atlas of Living Australia (ALA) is Australia’s national biodiversity database. Founded on the principle of data sharing – collect it once, share it, use it many times – the ALA provides free, online access to millions of occurrence records to form the most comprehensive and accessible data set on Australia’s biodiversity ever produced. By aggregating biodiversity information and making it more available online, the ALA is assisting scientists, planners, managers and others to create a more detailed picture of Australia’s biodiversity. The ALA is used for research, environmental monitoring, conservation planning and management, education, and citizen science activities. Our impact By enabling science, industry and decision makers to work more efficiently, we impact many diverse areas of Australian biodiversity research and sustainability practice. We are an essential resource for biodiversity conservation, sustainable ecosystem development, new species discoveries, systematics (relationships between living things), taxonomy (naming and classification), digitisation of biological collections, natural resource management and environmental impact assessments. Please note that we are iteratively improving this app and encourage constructive user input into improving it. Please provide input via [email protected]

poorly put together app. struggle to navigate menus and find it totally unable to produce a map for a given species. what is the point of this app?
-
common names should be visible when reporting as well as the latin name. FIFK the latin name for sambar deer, but i know when i see one, and there is only one use for that common name
Nic Usher
only way I know to get a grip on the names of species native to my location
Jodi Jones
fantastic way to learn about your regions biodiversity

Crashed twice, first time trying to submit a report. Given up.

Won't let me submit records without a photo. It's not always possible to photograph birds etc that you might only catch a glimpse of, but still be very confident of ID.
Pamela Box
I had enjoyed it but right now it's not working. It can't find anything at all in my area, which I know is false as I've used this app many times.
Patrick Nykiel
The only app for Australia of this kind based on the brilliant Atlas of Living Australia Resource. The new update makes the app far more user friendly. One thing I would like to see is plants included in the results for area exploration which I'm fairly sure used to be included. Otherwise a brilliant resource and would recommend for anyone in the environmental science, ecology or biology fields as well as naturalists of any experience.

Explore your area option does not show any results. When I do a search for species in an area on the map....I keep getting No Results.

Species search does not work, and species list for your location continually flicks back to first sceen
