GPS traces can then be exported in GPX format for later use with OpenStreetMap tools like JOSM, or uploaded directly to OpenStreetMap. Tracks can be displayed over an OpenStreetMap background or with no background if you don't have a data plan. This app works, but the interface is not very intuitive. It doesn't display the distance travelled, which is the most important info I was after. I found out that the OsmAnd app have a track recording setting with stats and graphs. That's exactly what I was after.

Useful to record GPS tracks, including compass direction. Can either export to GPX files or upload to OpenStreetMap. I also use the tracks to convert videos into geotagged photos for uploading to Mapillary. Sometimes gets stuck at "Waiting for GPS fix to enable buttons", but I can work around that. The facility to show a background map is useful.

With some work on the user interface, this could be a solid contender for recording GPS tracks, but the app hasn't been updated for over a year. Development seems to be dead and I can't in good faith recommend the app at this point.

Actually the background map is not displayed anymore. And in general would be nice when downloaded osm Maps could be selected as source. If first is fixed rating would be much higher.
