  1. Ben Nichols-avatar

I have been using this app hiking and biking all over the world for 6 years. It is EXCELLENT. Osm mapping is pretty accurate, the app is stable and easy to use, and does not munch too much battery - important on multi-day camping trips. 2 minor gripes. 1. Osm mapping in the UK is a bit crappy about rights of way - all that info is crown copyright, bah. 2. If you store the maps on SD card then they can be a bit slow and laggy to render, especially if there are lots of contour lines.

  2. Frank Amersfoort-avatar

osmand — offline travel maps & navigation My favourite app for bike (road, gravel, mtb) and hike. A lot of good and detailed maps with useful exttra layers. Iniitially not the easiest to learn because of all the options and possibilities. But when you are used to it you will be rewarded with a maximum of freedom during your adventures.

  3. Lawrence Chan-avatar

osmand — offline travel maps & navigation apk Really useful for travel whether near home or in distant countries. But latest version has added a remove track option for the current track recording that follows the previous save track option. Dangerous if you are used to the save track option as being the last menu option. Should have included a delete confirmation or a way to recover recently removed tracks.

  4. Evgeniy Ginzburg-avatar

    Evgeniy Ginzburg

osmand+ - offline travel maps & navigation v3.4.7 Use it for a long time for offline navigation and it for sure one of the best offline nav apps here. The only thing needed is to download maps inadwanse and you are good to go.

  5. Eigminas Dagys-avatar

Very powerful app, love it. Keep in mind that it might take time to master all the features and details available. Higly recommend for map enthusiasts!

  6. Phil Sauer-avatar

It is a great off line map. But it takes a lot of space and there seems on way to delete maps once they are in your memory.

  7. Koen Debruyckere-avatar

    Koen Debruyckere

Great and accurate detail, keeps on surprising me in accuracy and available overlays like public transportation! Works great with offline maps + GPS when hiking etc. Search functionality is a bit clumsy compared to Google's.

  8. Benoît S.-avatar

A little bit difficult to understand the UI but after some time you'll be accustomed to. Really nice for biking and hiking.

  9. S A-avatar

I really find this App very basic and believe that it can never compete with the current navigation and maps apps and it needs massive improvement to be user friendly and reliable app.

  10. Tim Hodson-avatar

Fantastic for figuring out footpaths when running etc, even more so as you can add ones you find. Also brilliant when away from good network coverage.

  11. René Mouton-avatar

I use it for about ten years. It's very complex and needs some work for configuration. But with the profile for every occasion it's easy to use also for OSM. Best navi so far.

  12. Howard L Frederick-avatar

    Howard L Frederick

Fantastic app. Used for planning off-road motorcycle trips. Works really well.

  21. Al Stu-avatar

Very useful, especially where there is no cell service and the Googleheads are stari ng at their non-functioning maps.

  22. Peter Dzenis-avatar

Very customizable app, really like it. The only downside is rendering performance.

  23. Lance Thompson-avatar

Not exactly intuitive to use, but once you get a handle on it's eccentricities it does the job.

  24. Nick Liddle-avatar

Great - more details, contours, measurement tools, etc.

  25. Gheorghe Jianu-avatar

It is the perfect guide for both trips and planning!

  26. David Gray-avatar

Great app that just keeps getting better. It's my exclusive navigation app for motorcycle touring

  29. Mohamed Zanaty-avatar

The best navigation app. I only miss 3d mode like other apps such as waze and... etc.

  30. Shaun Johnson-avatar

Very handy when there is no data coverage in the mountains

  31. tasm oy-avatar

Lots of options but sometimes routing goes mad and ui is a bit complex...

Excellent, my goto mapping app when out hiking or cycling.

  39. Janwillem van Dijk-avatar

    Janwillem van Dijk

Super, including the ovelay option for tiled maps

  40. Rick Reyes-avatar

Very helpful and reliable. Great apps

  41. Charly Aurelia-avatar

Osmand + is feature rich and always my default when other nav apps fall short.

  42. Andrei Bohoru-avatar

Very good offline navigation app, detailed maps, precise navigation. I'm using this app for 3 years now. Because of my job I'm kind of a globetrotter and, no matter where in the world i was, as long as I downloaded the map in advance, never had to use the data plan to navigate (sometimes unavailable, sometimes very expensive in some parts of the world if you're not local)

  43. Ivan Milovanov-avatar

I really tried to love and adopt this app, as I'm trying to move away from the commonly used alternative. I supported it to the fullest. However, it has too many issues. Many company names (including restaurants) are missing – but that's not the dev's fault, these need to be filled in by users. Navigation usually doesn't work, however. Sometimes it just closes. It's also a bit slow. It has trouble finding addresses, and often says I'm far from a road, even if I'm standing on one.

  44. Robert Riemann-avatar

Very flexible tool for many purposes

  45. Wildfire van willigenburg-avatar

    Wildfire van willigenburg

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS! This is absolutely by far the worst navigation app there is. Use anything than this, and you'll be better off. Navigating from subway stn to a subway stn 2 blocks over: walk 24 minutes, take M4, walk 15 minutes. It's litteraly a 2 min train ride!!! Cancel nav? Impossible. You have to plot new route. And replace destination. The layout of the app was built in the 1990's, and never updated. Even car navigation makes you turn 3 times left to go right! -5 stars!!!

  46. Michael Heyns-avatar

I've been using this application for a while now and think it's the best open source map solution for Android. The UI is a bit difficult to navigate and I still don't understand some behaviours and settings. There's a lot it can do and worth supporting. Thank you for this project!

  47. Gery De-avatar

Wealth of features but map display eats a lot of power

  48. Msh Msm-avatar

Even for a paid edition the basic search for the address of number and street is still always failed up to date. This app is just a map ony, To search an address is a waste of time and hardship via this app …We hope that the issue mentioned above would be resolved asap to match to the Google map where the user will be able to search any address right away.

  49. Nick Roman-avatar

L.E.: thank you for development team response. Anyway, please consider adding an automatic backup option accessible from inside OSM app. One huge minus: no automatic backup for audio, photo or video notes. I just lost all my notes by mistake simply reinstalling the app. Another minus: no way to specify another location for notes' folder. Beside this and if you don't care about losing a big slice of your work, overall a good app.

  50. Andrew Lovell-avatar

The maps look great but I cannot get it to recognise a downloaded GPX file. Message pops up saying "Cannot read GPX data" The exact GPX file opens successfully in other applications. I feel like I've wasted my money on this. I only paid for the app to use to follow GPX tracks while cycle touring and to support OSM. Disappointing.

  51. Michal Veselenyi-avatar

    Michal Veselenyi

Really great. I use it everyday as map, as navigation, and for adding stuff to OSM via in-map notes (markers).

  52. MD Jahidul Islam Mahin-avatar

Best Offline Travel And Navigation Map App...Also have great tools...And thank you the developer who made this great app.😍😘😎

  53. Mohamad Haniff Fadzil-avatar

    Mohamad Haniff Fadzil

Downloading the map is so slow...it take almost 30min to download the map of 160mb over 100mbps internet connection..

  54. John Jones-avatar

This is a really great app, however, address search doesn't work well (actually it's not good at all).

  55. Gabriel Arogboritse-avatar

    Gabriel Arogboritse

Excellent app, that can show so many features in one go.

  56. Konstantin Levinski-avatar

    Konstantin Levinski

Supports openstreetmap and often way more detailed than google maps.

  57. Andy Swain-avatar

Been using it for a long time and it is excellent.

  58. Tim Cook-avatar

Excellent app. Need a way to disable the new map download suggestion prompts which can be annoying.

  59. Travis Sanderson-avatar

    Travis Sanderson

I love contributing to the project and knowing that we don't need Google for *everything*.

  60. Ashvini Kumar-avatar

Fantastic app. Very good for offline use..

  61. Artur Labuhn-avatar

    The Best aplication for navigation.

  62. Gary Langrick-avatar

    Great for driving and hiking

  63. Frank Bade-avatar

Perfect for hiking as it needs no internet for navigation

  64. Gary Hawkins-avatar

    Easy to use. Works good.

  65. Charles Lever-avatar

    Love this offline map app!

  66. Mr Sofiane-avatar

Design sucks. Not suitable for 2020 at all. App design is embarrassing

  67. John Baumert-avatar

    Great app for hiking

  68. Mikey Gone-avatar

    Simple and awesome

Bought this app for €9.99 on November 16th 2019, for a 4000km road trip through Namibia, offline. Despite minor bugs, it could basically be relied upon throughout the trip. What disappointed me however, were the Black Friday and Cyber Monday ads! I don't need a paid app running ads on me (edit: allegedly this can be turned off via Sandwich->Settings->General settings->Don't show startup messages, but still:). Respectable apps don't do this. Also it felt real sneaky that the more detailed maps (Contour lines, Hillshades) were still pay-walled behind a monthly 1.49€ "OsmAnd Live" subscription. I don't need another subscription, thank you. (edit: turns out Contour Lines which includes hill shades can be bought for €3.99 without any subscription, via Sandwich->Plugins->Contour Lines). Minor bugs (for which I wouldn't remove a single star): distance seemed to be always calculated from the present location even if the starting point was defined elsewhere; the other one was not being able to see the full address of a place from the search-history.

  70. Monasucks-avatar

quality of the maps are very high. route calculation is really bad. takes about 20 min to calculate a route. Using a Huawei P30 Pro.. so can't be the hardware. All maps are downloaded. Waypoints is not an option. Usually going 400+ km. I want the best route for this so no waypoints in-between to force a semi optimal route

  71. Zsuzsa Kaszab-avatar

I have this app since Dec'18 - it worked fine in the beginning, though cross-border calculation had always been extremely slow... I used it 2x in Africa, in Uganda, Rwanda, then in SA&Namibia - it was fast, well detailed, but I had difficulties in finding POIs, otherwise easy on maps.me, for example Back in Europe though I started to have enormous headaches = the application updates itself, crashes down at first start, fails fast calculation, crashes again. Please advice how to solve the problem

  72. J D Lesemajeste-avatar

Update: they did some updates, and made it terrible and even more obnoxious. I don't know if the team completely changed since a decade ago when it was at least not melevolent but this app is now just garbage.

  73. Trans Human-avatar

This has paid for itself many times over. The offline functionality is incredibly useful. The ability to manually install data sets is a great feature. It also runs surprisingly well on older hardware. Thank you for making this app the way you did.

  74. chris w-avatar

As a long distance cyclist I've been using this app almost daily for more than 15 months. Way better than any competing apps. Elevation profile, quick display of POI and OSM editing integration are my favorite features and work really well. Overall responsiveness and usability could be better.

  75. Igor Zhilin-avatar

Excellent for offline navigation, especially for geeks. /*But spams with offers to buy subscription.*/ Edit: Thanks for reply, turns out it can be turned off :D (though the option to check was not obvious).

  76. Dmitry Polyakov-avatar

    Dmitry Polyakov

I believe it is a good time to finally do power management option. The power consumption is ridiculously high, compare to other offline software. You have this develop fo so many years, it is time to fix power management.

  77. Leigh van der Merwe-avatar

    Leigh van der Merwe

Been usong ot for years and it keeps getting better

  78. Stefan Schwarzer-avatar

I started using the free version, because it supported offline maps better than Google. I think, maps are very good for biking and good for hiking. May very regionally, talking for Germany. Still using it now as subscriber.

  79. A Google user-avatar

I have used this app for many years for trips around the whole world, first the free version, then the paid one. I loved it. For the last few months and after a few updates, it keeps crashing and restarting everytime I start to navigate. This happens on my two android phones (samsung and xiaomi) which renders the app unusable. I am traveling to Asia in three days, have to uninstall Osmand+ and look for a different offline app. Shame.

  80. Lachlan McDermid-avatar

Update: Problem solved with an unbelievably quick response from the developer, fantastic app and fantastic support. Keep up the good work!! Hi OSM, I have an issue. (1 star for now to get your attention) map fails to render at zoom level 13 and out (not sure if I'm counting zoom level in the right direction but 10km shows on the scale when the map goes blank). I'm on a Samsung S7 and running Android 8.0. App is up to date and I've tried reinstalling to no avail. Cheers.

  81. Kelvin Hammond-avatar

I love this, great for bike rides. This app may have been a bit confusing with all the features at first. But I love all of the features. I'm able to use this when I'm in different countries and for biking. It just works, most of the time. There are some issues with routing when driving at times and the interface could use a bit more work but the new designs and interfaces are bangin. Good job, keep up the good work and thank you.

  82. Travis Wellman-avatar

Great alternative though it really needs to at least know what block an address is on more often

  83. A Google user-avatar

The best navigation app ever ! Works offline, not dependent on Google (uses OSM free and open source maps, which you can modify yourself if needed). Worth paying a few euros to buy the full version ! It was the app I bought, and I really don't regret it. Working offline (without mobile data) is also nice when you are abroad, or hiking in mountains where not putting the phone in aeroplane mode can drain out your battery. Works also nicely for cycling.

  84. Dave Usher-avatar

It would be useful to have the road numbers read out as numbers rather than in words for numbers >100. What I mean is A123 is read as A one hundred and twenty three rather than A one two three which seems to me as the conventional way. The long way can be confusing and long winded when trying to listen to it !. It gets even worse with 4 digit numbers. I can't find another way to respond. Yes I do edit OSM and have done for a longtime. My point is the way the format the road numbers are read out rather than the data from the map.

  85. Denis Franklin-avatar

Excellent app, level of detail on a level with OS maps. Good navigation, if stubborn - offline nature means that deviations due to traffic will cause the app to nag you until you rejoin its calculated route. Storage is an issue: if you store your offline maps on an external card the app may not read them correctly, resulting in poor rendering times. The major take up significant space, prohibiting their use on older, smaller devices

i am really worried about the loss of wake-lock in the latest version. please can you provide more info on what is happening with this. The release notes say "more fixes will be provided following week" - what does that mean, are you going to find a way to turn it back on. this is a MASSIVE deal for me, i use it for cycling and it is a real safety issue, as well as being massively inconvenient, if is going to force me to unlock the screen every time. desperately need more info on what is going on, at the moment i have held off from updating but i know at some point i am going to inadvertently hit update all , and get the update i don't want. I don't really understand the issues that are involved here, but feel really strongly that we should have the choice to make it work how we want it, and google should be retracting features that have been in place for at least a couple of years. do we need to mobilise the community to try and argue a case for some kind of exemption for osmand. can i just get the apk and be done with play store? (sorry - it doesn't deserve a 2 start review, just trying to initiate a bit of a discussion - i will change it in due course)

This is a power users' GPS. You download maps for the areas where you drive in, you start adding destinations to navigate to, and then you turn on the navigation, and this app handles navigation even with multiple waypoints without needing a constant Internet connection. Only cons are that OsmAnd has less POIs compared to Google Maps and lacks traffic information, at least in the US, but the lack of POIs can be worked around by importing GPX or KML files ahead of time.

For on road routing there are plenty of apps and some do a better job compared to Osmand+. But when it comes to trails, nothing beats this app. Not even Google! It's got the most detailed maps and the best routing options for the power user. If anything, its offline routing algo for cycling is terribly slow and resource intensive. But then again, once the calculatuon is done, it consistently chooses better routes than any other (online or offline) cycling navigation app I've tried.

Paid for this app to support the developers and contributors but I don't use it ....I use the free version because it still has OVERLAYS and UNDERLAYS....which are missing from the +(plus) version ....not sure why. Still a great app. Make sure you buy the contour pack and then remember to download it if you are a hiker.

Extremely helpful app in travels, hikings and new places. Works offline, has a lot of data, very detailed. Finding off-road way or local place of interest is no problem with this tool. And you can participate in creation of the map (so that's why it's so detailed). Love it!

I've used free version for almost 2 years and recently bought Osmand+. For me the most useful features are countour lines and hillshades when hiking. Also offline map management is very convinient, I like it. The downward of this program is not user friendly settings. You need to spent some time to figure all things out and tune navigator to your needs.

I have been using osmand for years and it is improving all the time. I have tried many navigation apps and this is by far the most versatile. lt has many features which may be a bit daunting when you use it for the first time but when you have set the options to what suits you, it is so quick and simple to use and support is good.

I'm using OsmAnd+ on a Moto G6 running Android 8. It's VERY laggy and slow to react when rendering the screen. I'll be 1/4 mile beyond a turn or an exit before the little location icon comes to that turn or exit on the map. I can't tell you how many turns and exits I've missed because of this lagging ... which is very annoying when driving on a tollway where the exits are few and far between. The screen does not render smoothly ... rather, it jumps from position to position.

I've completed 2 long distance cycle tours using this app overall I'm happy, but while touring across Spain it did have a tenancy to try and take me the wrong way on a one-way street. I have used other apps to navigate but I do find this so far the best, there are some improvements that can be made and I'm sure they will be addressed in time

It's a pretty awesome app. Please add a feature to remove search/destinations. And additional organization told such as folders or lists of places.

I was using maps.me for the last years and after discovering osmand I'm blown away with all the options it have. Exporting as gpx so i can use the path on my watch and elevation profile for cycling is my favorites. Only thing could be better is speed. Rendering does lag a bit and route planing at least for long distance cycling (100-200 km) takes for ever. Still Higley recommend

Recently this app starts spamming me. I start the app and i get Christmas offers and new year deals. Please NO! I paid for the pro version so that i would get rid of the annoying ads. But i keep getting ads for some kind of osmand update subscription. NO, i don't want the subscription and i certainly don't want the ads. I paid already thank you. ah... developer responded and showed me how to switch off these message. easy, thanks!
