I think this is a right step into making a great broswer for smartphones. However, there are still many things that have to be added 1. Extensions support. This is one of the biggest reasons I liked the original browser. Please consider adding this 2. Please consider adding a pop up blocker. Or atleast make the pop ups appear in different windows. Edit : Both of these at in and work flawlessly. Love it. ;) Once these are added, I will surely give it 5 stars. Keep up the good work, developers!

download Much better than previous discontinued version of Nightly. Faster, less clogged UI, and finally doesn't eat up 1gb+ of space. Though sadly some add-ons stopped working, and for now add-on support is quite limited. But there is still one persisting problem from old version: horrible download management. Guys it isn't rocket science is it? Make it akin to desktop Mozilla please, or to an old Opera Mobile. But at least downloads tab was added, those are some steps to right direction.

android Getting worse and worse. Blank page, browser stuck when opening a tab from collections. When switching tabs it refreshes them from the server, and any form inputs are lost. It was a terrible decision to have the "open tabs tray". Now when you press + for a new tab the keyboard pops up, though I want something from collections, and the whole experience is jumpy. Why don't you just bring back the clean old home tab with collections, open tabs, and address bar?!

vs firefox Annoying as hell. I have to disable JavaScript every day, it constantly loses the setting. It insists on requesting the mobile version. It opens every bookmark in a new window - and requests the mobile version (on my 10" tablet!). I click desktop version again and again and again, this is incredibly annoying. Firefox has been my goto-browser for a decade but I can't take it anymore...

apk 'Add to top sites' doesn't become 'remove from too sites' after adding a site to top site. Also need an option to transfer pages from private to normal or normal to private directly. The download management is too poor. Many times my downloads are failed. Sometimes they don't even start and sometimes the notification indicator just keeps on going even if the download is completed. Pause and cancel buttons become unresponsive too.

  6. Jen Mckean-avatar

reddit A couple of sticking points: After downloading a file over the browser, it won't let me swipe away the notification, as if it's some seriously important event. Come on... Also, too often the strict cookies thing causes an issue with Captcha and other logins. It's not clear how to circumnavigate this quickly and easily, so if I ever have issues with a website, I have to have Chrome to use as a backup option. I wish I could fully rely on Firefox. Saying that, keep up the good work!

  7. Robert Jones-avatar

ubuntu It is not only slower now, not only destroyed addons, not only screwed UI to the point that it's longer to just just do something simple like switch a tab, NOW you removed the ability to access About:Config on Nightly too. This browser has now been reduced to 1 star, I'm uninstalling, deleting account and moving to duckduckgo permanently. Duckduckgo is just like this browser now, except it allows me to download still and doesn't flood my notifications with " download failed " NON GD STOP!!!!

logo I use firefox at pc so I want to use it on my phone. I have tried the normal version and it is really buggy, one of the problem is download problem. And the normal version cannot use about:config which is the selling point of firefox. The bug still present on beta version. So I give the last chance for nightly version. And I found it is really good. One of the function is the app will keep running if you play the video, that means I can do other things when I don't want to too focus on it.

ios Not actual latest Firefox mobile, or Beta won't suffice now. - Now able to use privacy friendly add-ons on Nightly! Yes, you have configuration only on Beta and Nightly. That's why we want latest Firefox mobile to be able to do same, when it's not included with myAddonCollection. Nightly is now #1 browser go to browser!

vs beta This is the first time that Firefox has ever gotten in my way. A bunch of features are missing. Features like View Page Source, which has been a life saver. The new homepage feels like a misstep, compared to the old homepage layout. Since I now have to take an extra step just to view my bookmarks and history and searching in between search engines. I keep accidentally closing the tabs tray every time I swipe down a little bit too hard with annoys me since it forces me to slow down.

  11. Michael Beld-avatar

I'm a huge fan of what this does and what it promises for the default FireFox browser. The extension library is getting better, with some choice options that weren't compatible with mobile before. My favorites are Ghostery and the background playback extension. Wider option selection, better processing, subtle improvements that really show the promise this new engine has. Still plenty that can be changed or improved, but hot dang, this is replacing Brave as my secondary browser.

  12. Rudy-avatar

20201008 Nightly reader view bookmarks are unreadable in FF app... 20200920 Good gosh, I cannot revisit sites bookmarked in reader view because Firefox Nightly does not trust its own reader view URL. ‼️ Why does Firefox Nightly apply random 'moz:extension gibberish' in front bookmarks saved in reader view which duplicates bookmarks⁉️ PDFs are not downloading correctly; they're still downloading in a corrupt format which result as unreadable.‼️We need to be able to print and view page source.

Once a liberator, now just another oppressor. Firefox used to be my first choice of browsers, it empowered me to change it to fit my needs with the least amount of difficulty. I loved this and it was my browser of choice for over a decade. This has changed, with every notable update I have had to fight again and again to regain that customization that I prized as they gradually added More and more limits, and forced more unwanted and impossible to disable features down my throat.

  14. Travis Terrell-avatar

    Travis Terrell

Using the nightly is the really the only viable way I'm able to make the "new" Firefox work for my use case, given they pushed a half-baked version to prod before it was ready. There is one particular Add-on that is almost mandatory for me, so until support for custom extensions is implemented in release, I'm stuck with this. (Grateful they finally *allowed* them in Nightly, at least! Previously, I'd been stuck using the old Firefox with updates disabled. Looking forward to full API support.)

  15. Dave Royal-avatar

    Dave Royal

As a long-time Fennec user (back to Maemo!) my main concern is addons - mainly the ones I've written myself for small displays. Chrome on Android doesn't support them, so if this doesn't either I'm going to have to stick with the old version. Update 2-Oct: I can now add my addons, which is good, but I want that in Release. UI is terrible on this tablet. 2 taps to close a tab (bring back tab-bar!); hard to acess bookmarks, history, or pinned top sites; buttons at bottom - this is not a phone!

  16. T S-avatar

    T S

From the current main release, which btw should have never happened, there is only one way: up. Still missing plenty of addons. Still can't set my bookmarks as my home screen I and probably 99% of other users do not and never will care about collections. Backing up from a tab should take me to bookmarks. In general the whole tab management is a wreck, old way was much better. This version clearly is based on chrome which to many was the reason why they switched to firefox all in vain apparently

  17. Chris O-avatar

    Chris O

This is already improved from the trash fire stable Firefox got. However, it still doesn't recognize the keyboard outside of up/down arrows and text fields. That means no shortcuts, and no special keys like the search key. Compare to Brave which has keyboard support equal to a desktop browser. However, if you have a mouse (Like a couple of Samsung Dex users) or don't mind relearning your browsers it isn't that terrible anymore. Still an annoying cut from Firefox though.

  18. Muneeb Khan-avatar

Fast & clean. It's a solid browser. Please add PDF support or even better allow using add-ons from the website again because flexibility of use is important. 2nd major complaint is that if I open a new tab from a link it should be LOWER in the tab list Was using kiwi before because it gave me the flexibility of using all Google Chrome extensions but it was very unreliable. So ofc I'm switching to the nightly build. Would've used the regular but waiting for swiping to change the tab.

  19. Levi Gillette-avatar

The FF apps on Android feature ability to use 3rd party add-ons (extensions). This gives it a strong one up on the Chromium based browser offerings. It allows me to run some "must have" extensions from desktop land, namely Dark Reader and uBlock Origin. Even with this overhead, Nightly is surprisingly snappy. Not as snappy as unladen the Chromium based browsers, but significantly faster than the (stable) FF app, in my experience. Credit in part to more Rust in Nightly, perhaps? :) Keep it up!

please make my bookmarks configurable as entry page just as in previous firefox versions. update: Thanks for removing this 'save to collection' stuff from the entry page (if no collection exists anyway). UPDATE: Bookmarks are now accessible via menu button. Not as easy as if configured as entry page. But it works. A fast and well designed browser! Nice work, thank you.

  21. JNeal134-avatar

    1. Either bring back open new private tabs to the menu (2 taps instead of the 3 it takes now) or make a long press of the + button in the tab menu open a private tab. 2. Bring back auto highlight all tabs when making a collection w option to deselect all. Until then, I'm rejecting both default and nightly for the developers version (hidden on Play Store -_-).

  22. Fabio Pizzuto-avatar

    Fabio Pizzuto

Premise, I already gave 1 star to the official release and the beta. Here are the featurea missing : about:config is broken, I played with the sni setting and nothing changes in the testing. No more download as PDF. No more installing plenty of addins already working in previous version. By default, the setting are set to share your data for ads! You gotta be kidding! Unbelievable, Mozilla managed to make the Firefox Android version worse than the ios one!

  23. Matt-avatar

this is literally the exact same as regular firefox. The app is unusable for me because it lacks the basic functionality of being able to refresh the page by scrolling up at the top of the page. They don't even give you that option.

  24. Brett Romero-avatar

    Brett Romero

I know this is an unstable release, but I was hoping it fixed some of the issues with the new stable release. Nope 😫. It's not much better. Still lacks the best part of the old Firefox..the full addon site support. The tabs are absolutely the worst designed ones on mobile. They're not intuitive, and I can't wrap my head around why they're designed the way they are. WHY can't the last website be shown when reopening the app. Why open a new tab for each pinned site..basic stuff it fails at.

  25. Anton Schenker-avatar

    Anton Schenker

Terrible. Wish that I had a warning about all of the removed features and I wouldn't have upgraded, because this is a downgrade. Not able to send a tab to another sync device without first opening it, therefore it is pointless. Cannot load my old extension Stylus to style the pages of those awful websites, and cannot save a page to PDF. Also much too difficult to access bookmarks & history & sync tabs. Cannot manage devices that are synced, I had to go use an old version of Firefox to do that.

  26. David Eaton-avatar

    David Eaton

I am very disappointed nothing has been done with tab tray and tab history to allow for toolbar top users. When toolbar top is set and tab button is pressed, tab tray must open all the way up, not just part way, and have new tab button at top or in 3 dot menu, not just action button at bottom. Tab history also must open right up when toolbar top. Am now stopping using Firefox browser for now. If no tab tray behaviour allowance is made for top toolbar users I'll have to leave Firefox.

  27. Andy K-avatar

We should be able to customize the home page by being able to rename and rearrange everything so we can have it look and feel the way we want, especially since we aren't allowed our favorite add-ons. Enabling "Wait Until First Paint To Show Page Content" in the Secret Settings helps with the white flashes before dark pages load with dark theme but switching tabs still causes white flashes sometimes. To enable Secret Settings: Settings -> About Firefox Nightly -> tap the Firefox logo repeatedly.

  28. Neil Taylor-avatar

Yes it would obviously be great to have more add on support. The old UI was frequently cited in reviews as outdated so criticism seems knee jerk and subjective. My requests are for close all tabs as a close option without going through menus, and for key word searches to return. App is faster than before and still offers strong privacy compared to the competition

  29. Bolthier-avatar

Thanks to the addon collections Firefox Nightly is back being the best mobile experience after a misguided idea to kick almost every working add-on out of the window. Additionally a lot of the old features missing from v68 are back. To Mozilla I would recommend enabling the addon collection for the stable release as an experimental feature. For any user not satisfied with the stable release version to swap to Nightly. Firefox blog:

Happy with Firefox Nightly, it is slightly faster than stable version, waiting to release all features in Firefox stable version like, External download manager support in advanced menu, Fully Add-ons store support, swipe gestures to switch between tabs, Lite mode like Google Chrome to save data & browse faster.

  31. Jack McCreery-avatar

    Jack McCreery

It's not only a genuinely terrible idea to lock away important user settings controls behind an entirely different app (about:config) but it's extra egregious when those settings can't even be used to fix basic functionality issues like fullscreen 4:3 videos stretching to match the horizontal resolution of my 16:8 mobile device instead of the vertical resolution like a sane person would do. This problem doesn't even exist in Opera or Chrome!

  32. Cedric Bloem-avatar

Favorite mobile browser, even better than the regular Firefox browser app. One thing that really really annoys the hell out of me though, is that when I'm watching a video and close my browser app, I expect it to be closed. However, I just can't close the app until I pause the video. Really annoying

Finally!! leechblock NG is available for firefox for android!!! This is huge. I really appreciate huge effort of mozilla folks and authors of awesome extensions. I hope more and more extensions become available in firefox for android. Thank you so much. You people make my life less painful and nicer.

You can't find following features in any other mobile browser. 1. Dns over Https with Encrypted sni 2. External download manager integration 3. Addons 4. Full screen immersive mode video playback. New Firefox is faster than old fennec. Please don't hate new Firefox. it's a new born baby. It may not have all features as in old fennec. Developers are working hard on it. Firefox is definitely the most private android browser.

  36. Suresh Chidambaram-avatar

Firefox seems to save the last copied url (from any app). Even after deleting the copied url from system clipboard, Firefox still suggest the copied url (even when it is deleted from clipboard) when the url edit text is in Focus. Why does Firefox save the url? For a privacy focused browser this is sure a devious behaviour. I'd request the developers to fix this behaviour / bug.

  37. Nom-avatar

Thanks for adding back in full extension support, albeit it's not through the usual straight forward process. I wish there was a better tab switcher and a way to set favourite websites in the new tab area.

  38. Katherin Brown-avatar

Marginally better but more buggy. Someone pushed the update button too soon and can't admit it so instead we have a browser with blunted functionality. I want it clear I'm not mad they changed something, I'm mad about the timing. This wasn't ready for release yet in any channel and is months out of "production ready", and the support has been less than supportive when criticized or faced with issues, or given anything but praise really. Still waiting on basic necessity features here.

  39. Google User-avatar

HOME BUTTON, WHERE? Collections opens instead of LAST VIEWED TAB(S). Tabs Tray or start page, not both. (NOT ALL HOME PAGES ARE SEARCH ENGINES!). SO MANY sites DISPLAY INCORRECT & ARE UNUSABLE. Privacy concern. Cursor controls for Samsung Keyboard won't work, Copy/Paste menu buggy. Seems NOTHING changes each "build". Mozilla ignores bugs, features, page display errors, user requests. DARK MODE IS GREAT. As Beta, it's OK, but "Daylight" final, 0 stars. Needs HOME BUTTON & display fixes to start.

Please add Neat URL extension to the available add-ons list. Absolutelt nothing else that could be added next that is more valuable. This is the best browser for android, hands down, but edge is very close. Please keep this in mind and keep up all of your great work as I think we can all say we hate Microsoft

Only Browser I could enable encrypted DNS and Encrypted SNI. Now it’s the most secure browser I must say. Yet, the performance is bit slower than Chrome. Privacy and Security is good enough, I think it’s for Mozilla developers to focus more on the performance and stability. Make it the most reliable browser.

Links opened in a new tab appear above the current tab... That is silly. They should appear below the current tab in list. Also, when swiping sideways on the toolbar, newer tabs should appear after the current tab, not before! This is silly.

Became Useless browser since few update once mozilla is known 4 hearing users voice now just forcing their product. Why should i use this crappie browser, 1st eat ram & battery, 2nd limited built in features against chromium like strict site isolation, dark mode for web contents. Better built in site permission, page load speed, 3rd very limited extensions support. Slow responsiveness. Very slow on getting update or fixings bugs etc. & lots of other factor which weak firefox against chromium...

People are really dumb. Everyone complaining about the browser app needs to learn what a test app is. This app in addition to the firefox beta let you test new features or builds. If there is something you don't like REPORT IT TO THE DEVELOPER SO THEY CAN FIX OR CHANGE IT. If you're leaving bad reviews about features you really must be retarded. About:config seems accessible on the nightly. That's promising. Features like external download manager seem Interesting. Needs to restore bookmarks, the download as pdf function, and most importantly add-ons. Collections while interesting in concept, I prefer bookmarks. Bookmarks shouldn't have been renamed. FF needed bookmark import/export, and the same organizational function as collections. Never ever overhaul functions completrly.

I understand the app is still open to major UX changes, and as a early user I've noticed you guys played a lot with the way Tabs operate. But let me tell you the the current design to open and close the tab is cumbersome and confusing. We don't want to go through so many steps just to open a tab. Please come up with something easy and efficient. Also provide the ability to re-arrange the Top-sites section in the homepage. Presently I've to remove and add site if I want to change the order.

Horrible update. I tried to give it a chance, but my most used websites don't function properly anymore, there's no option for two tab columns, the entire app is very slow, and there's no tab queue anymore when clicking on links from other apps. I miss the old Firefox, this change was a horrible decision from both an aesthetic and functionality point. I'm disappointed to say the least.

The new tab preview page in my opinion is god awful. It's bigger, and shows less info at a glance. It adds another step to getting to where I want to be from opening the app. The change doesn't add anything useful. It's just pointless. Otherwise, the app works really well and the custom supported add-ons are a great addition. The viewable preview of the web page is a nice addition, but I would happily trade it for the old tab UI. Collections are a weirdly fantastic rework of bookmarking

I love the browser because it sports the best privacy/ad blocking. However, I have some issues using it. I preferred having the tabs on the home page more than in the drawer. The button for back should be a bit easier to access than having it hidden in menu. There is also a confusing prompt window message saying "Prevent site from opening a pop up?" with Allow or Deny options? That makes no sense. The app crashes when I try to change search engines. Theres more but Im restricted to 500 chars.

I started off using the stable version of Firefox but I found it's interface to be a bit too clunky. That's definitely not the case with this version though! This is going to be the best browser (hopefully, if you don't screw it up!) I came from chrome>brave>4 others>and ended up here. The issues I have been having is mainly broken websites sometimes its the browser causing it other times the extensions-all on default settings. Swipe tabs should be a feature. This is my favorite browser to use on Android, but several updates ago the UI was changed in an unfavorable way. Originally, existing tabs were shown when opening the app up making it easy to resume browsing. However, now the existing tabs must be accessed by opening the tab menu which feels like a step backwards as it takes more actions to both view and pick up where you left off. Overall, this is a change I see no reason for. When people close the app, tabs are saved so they can resume browsing the same pages. The Collections page is a glorified bookmarks system that people don't want to see first-thing compared to what pages they were already on before. Please revert the changes in the UI.

On Preview Nightly there's a message that I should switch to this abomination. No! A tab menu even more braindead than on the Preview Nightly. A dark theme that does not respect my device's system brightness. And to top it all off - once again, a pre-curated list of available addons. Firefox on android has been going downhill for years. I'm just sad the standard version keeps crashing on my device. I had the option there to use any add-on I wish and the tab menu was perfectly good.

I personally love the Nightly layout. My favorite part is likely the easy of using it one-handed. The support of Firefox addons is fantastic. From privacy options to internet-wide dark mode, customizability of the browsing experience is exactly what I expect from Firefox, and the mobile browser does not disappoint. Firefox Nightly is far and away my favorite mobile browser, aside from the obvious occasional performance issues. I look forward to the stable release!

Almost perfect for UI & Privacy. Just needs some options: 1. Speed dial, instead of "Top Sites". 2. A "refresh" gesture like swiping from the top of the page or whatever. 3. I like the new Firefox so far. Bottom bar navigation is great, especially for users on a bigger screen. Delete browsing data on quit, I'd like to see it's functionality adjusted. Right now, I have to press the quit button like the name suggests already. In windows this is fine because I use the x button to close. On my phone, I just clear all apps. No one is going to open the menu to press quit. Clearing all apps doesn't make Firefox clear data. Only the quit button does. Need an option for this

My advice…try them both! 👍 I prefer Google Chrome, especially on my smartphone, but I have a Chromebook. However, ALL Firefox app versions are great, and I simply cannot bring myself to uninstall it. It has some better features than Chrome does, but now that they do not allow mobile use of almost every extension, this may change that preference back to Chrome soon. It destroys my reasoning for keeping it now, because Google's apps can integrate with just about every device and software I use.

Good start, very good browser, however it suddenly needed to be replaced by Firefox Beta and the migration was very slow and difficult. The Collections were not synced (huge problem) and the open tabs appear separately, which was not very convenient either. long-pressing the back button does not show history - this should be fixed. And it would be better to rename this app as Beta and create the Nightly separately, not the other way around

Comparing the experience with desktop Firefox, mobile Firefox, Firefox Focus, and mobile Brave, I must say that it feels fast in terms of page loading. But slow when switching between tabs, looking and closing tabs, and other interactions. Brave and Chrome nailed it by swiping the address bar to smoothly switch between tabs, and to see all open tabs. Also: Very limited add-on support. No certificate details. No view source-code. One-pixel glitch with fixed position elements. Old Firefox features

X - Opening a new tab is two steps rather than one - why? X - Opening the Find menu hides browser navigation. X - Collections - I don't want them and I can't hide them. X - Tabs aren't closed when I exit. X - I can't delete cookies. √X - I can open multiple tabs by selecting them and clicking the menu button, but not in all folders - why? √ - I can delete multiple bookmarks using the steps in the preceding item. As a long-term Netscape/Firefox user, I'm disappointed as this is a backwards step.

I love Mozilla, but this app got a lot less useful when they removed the ability to send URLs to other devices without opening the app directly. Now if I'm looking at something in another app and want to send it to my desktop for later, I must first open it in Firefox, wait for it to load (good luck if the page is behind a login) and then select "share". The old app had the option to send a URL to another device from inside any app and it was *wonderful*. Please bring that back.

Since I started using Android, I tried to find an alternative to Chrome, which I can't stand in desktop but has been my only choice for mobile. This is the first time I actually considered changing, the only thing missing for that to happen are the tab swipe controls and starting from the previous session like Chrome. In the Latest Update, why did you guys change the way new tabs are created. Earlier it was one of the best thing on this browser to open tabs with a single click. Now its just cumbersome with extra steps. Old review: I really liked the search bar on the bottom. A really convenient way to switch tabs and create new ones on large screens. Up until now, the app just kept getting better and better (quick tab switching, instant typing after opening new tab and so on), but now I have a problem. One of my routers is configured to listen on port 8888 with it's configuration interface, so 80 can be forwarded to my server, but my other router uses the standard 80 port. Firefox somehow got used to appending :8888 after and now I cantget rid of it, not even if I explicitly type :80, it still "corrects" that back to :8888. :(

This browser comes so close to replacing even the youtube app for me, but it sadly lacks the option to show landscape videos in landscape mode without having auto rotate enabled. The YouTube app, for example, automatically rotates the screen to maximize the size of the video on screen. This is unfortunate, since many people (including me) dislike auto rotate.

Okay, so the app is good. It's just that there are some things that makes me mad. The icons on certain sites are broken. When I first downloaded the app it just started to get craazy because the pictures won't load, I had to turn off 'blocking ads and such' option to see them. Some UI suggestions: 1) Keep the tab sheet, its good. But PLEASE let us change the order of tabs. 2) Show open tabs in the homepage so I don't forget that I have them (its more intuitive than a small number in the corner). I'm really impressed with everything else. Waiting for more addon support. Cheers! EDIT: New search experience (secret settings) looks promising. Devs are making it seriously hard for me to like this app. Recent update has broken lateral scroll in favour of swiping to switch tabs. Guys, just go back to the old tab browser already! Default screen when opening the app is a new tab, instead of tab browser or open tabs... Update on 18/6/20 has made the tab browser worse...the default screen now displays nothing of any use, instead of displaying open tabs (which are hidden in a drawer). Regains a star because of the add-on features.

Switching to kiwi broswer. I've yet to see a benefit of using this over the real Firefox. Killed off all but a handful of add-ons. Plus the open links with apps feature doesn't work for some reason and just launches the share menu. Chrome is superior yet supports no add-ons. So the only thing left is to move to a fork with add-ons so I've picked kiwi browser. Rip Firefox we've shared many years together and you won't be forgotten.

List view of opened tabs is worse than grid view (less tabs visible on screen, in landscape this problem goes to extreme with only ~2-3 tabs visible). Perhaps a toggle between list and grid views could be in the "customization" section in settings. Collections seem like glorified bookmarks. Could be useful for power users on desktop, not on mobile though. Visible separators in bookmarks are a plus, however they have too big padding. Nice UI overhaul, keeps up with current trends.

Quick rundown of issues: - Pressing back on a recently open tab page returns to the new tab page and opens a new tab - Address bar is Google-like, meaning it hides subdomains and protocol from the URL and you can't disable this feature like on Desktop - Poor extension support - No tap to seek gesture on media players It's usable and I use it as my daily driver. The app has much potential to be a good android browser. For now they need to improve the dark mode. The flash of white background makes it unusable and not recommendable for low light usage. Plus, addons like ublock do not have dark theme. Fixing this issues & adding stylus(for dark(reduced brightness pics)styles )) would make it usable in dark enviornments.
