Nonograms Katana: Sharpen your mind! Nonograms, also known as Hanjie, Griddlers, Picross, Japanese Crosswords, Japanese Puzzles, Pic-a-Pix, "Paint by numbers" and other names, are picture logic puzzles in which cells in a grid must be colored or left blank according to numbers at the side of the grid to reveal a hidden picture. The numbers are a form of discrete tomography that measures how many unbroken lines of filled-in squares there are in any given row or column. For example, a clue of "4 8 3" would mean there are sets of four, eight, and three filled squares, in that order, with at least one blank square between successive groups. To solve a puzzle, one needs to determine which cells will be boxes and which will be empty. Determining which cells are to be left empty (called spaces) is as important as determining which to fill (called boxes). Later in the solving process, the spaces help determine where a clue (continuing block of boxes and a number in the legend) may spread. Solvers usually use a dot or a cross to mark cells they are certain are spaces. It is also important never to guess. Only cells that can be determined by logic should be filled. If guessing, a single error can spread over the entire field and completely ruin the solution. Was 5 stars because everything was just so smooth. But now it's 3 because progressing the quests in the Guild now requires spice, and spice is only randomly obtained when fishing. I've got 1 spice after 3 weeks of sending the ship out at least 3 times a day every day. I need 10 to buy the map for the next quest. I get that the Guild quests are meant to last, but with a very low random chance of getting spice I can't measure how close I'm getting to the next goal - it feels like it's going to take an eternity. The puzzle part of the game is outstanding - the best. The Guild takes it to an even higher level, until you start needing Spices.

Good: Nonograms, nonograms everywhere. You get what you install this app for. Also, I like the various options to customise the puzzle UI the most. Bad: I'm not sure if it's just me but the Guild part takes too much time for me, such as solving puzzles to either get materials or advance an expedition. All in all, this is still a good app :]

This is my favorite Nonograms app. There are so many puzzles to pick from, ranging from very easy to very difficult. And I like the guild quest aspect. It gives you some additional goals and achievements. The app is easy to use and has nice features, like locking the side bars, multiple symbol options for possible squares, and hints if you get stuck. And you can link your progress and play the larger puzzles on a tablet or other larger screen. Just be sure it syncs before and after.

In adding so many features to a nonogram game, they've removed some functionality. Tapping on the same cell multiple times to do different things gives no help to the user and only complicates actions. Tapping and dragging an already filled cell will clear that line as opposed to other nonogram games where it helps you fill in gaps. I have found no way to turn this extra "help" off and can't get over my annoyance to keep playing.

Amazing nonogram game. Every puzzle has a single logical solution. Great customization with many accessibility options. You can submit your own puzzles, and instantly have a bot review them. There are tons of user-submitted puzzles and a very active English and Russian fanbase (it even has Google translate built in so you can see what everyone is saying!) The app frequently updates and the devs are responsive. I very happily paid the small one-time fee to remove ads. :)

It's such a good nonogram game but for some unfathomable reason it's started playing music sometimes with absolutely no way to shut it off, which is incredibly frustrating. This game really does not need music and I can't understand why it's there.

Love this game! Especially the Guild, I like that the puzzels I complete outside the guild synch up. The app is free besides if you want to get rid of ads, or have unlimited hints you have to pay. I enjoy picross games (also called nanogram), and I was really intrigued by this game because of the size of the puzzels. I love a challenge and they will definately keep me busy and challenged for a while. You can make an account to play on multiple devices as well. Great game!

Love this game! 9 times out of 10 it's a perfect distraction from life. The puzzles are challenging enough and the bigger the grid, the better the resulting image. I'm not sure if the guild was introduced ages after I started playing, or I just didn't notice it until more recently, but now it's just a bonus extra thing to do. So I'm not overly concerned with building it up quickly.
