This weather app is not affiliated with NOAA or the National Weather Service. Products provided by NOAA are in the public domain, and this app's use of those products is compliant with NOAA/NWS terms of use. This app provides forecasts, animated radar, hourly forecast, and current conditions, all in an intuitive and easy to use interface. Just the information you need, provided accurately, quickly, and for your exact location. ★ "A no-nonsense approach to show weather data on your phone, but done well and great looking" - Android Central This app uses NOAA point forecasts from your GPS location to get the most localized weather available. Point forecasts are great for climbing, hiking, skiing, or any outdoor activity where weather from a nearby city isn't accurate enough. GPS on the phone will provide the most accurate location, but usually isn't needed. Nearby cell towers and Wi-Fi networks can also provide this information, and will be checked first to save time and battery. You can also enter a location manually. To provided highly localized forecasting, this app uses point forecasts from the National Weather Service (NOAA/NWS), and is therefore only available in the US. If there is severe weather this will display at the top of the forecast. This app currently does NOT support severe weather alerts or notifications. NOAA is providing this service directly through cell carriers. You can read more about the service at https://www.weather.gov/wrn/wea. There are also several differently sized widgets available which can be placed on your homescreen to provide some basic weather information, without the need to open the app. Forecast discussion is available through the menu button. Permission: Location This app requires your location to provide you with the most accurate weather. This is fundamental to how the app works. You can still add manual locations as well if you prefer. Permission: Photos/Media/Files This permission is required by Google Maps so that it can cache map tiles for faster loading. It sounds like the app is doing something with your photos or media, but it is not. The permission means that the app has permission to access your files (which includes photos and media), but does not mean they are actually being accessed. It is a subtle but important distinction. Contact me if you have further questions about this. These are the non-simplified permissions as listed in the Android manifest: android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION" (location access listed above) android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE" (check for network connection) android.permission.INTERNET" (download weather) android.permission.VIBRATE" (for zoom feedback on old radar) android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" (this is Photos/Media/Files listed above) com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_GSERVICES" (required by google maps) FAQ (Frequently asked questions): http://www.graniteapps.net/noaaweather/faq.html Please contact me if you have any further questions or problems. This is the premium version and is 100% Ad free, and has no limitations. After weather underground went downhill I switched to dark sky. Then they went iOS only. Since then every app I've tried sucks. This app is by far the best out of all the apps I've tried since. Great widgets, easy to navigate and get the info you want. All the good features aren't blocked on the free version. Because of that I upgraded within minutes of using it lol

I like that I can have several saved locations. Great for planing ski and hiking trips. The precipitation bar on the bottom lets me gage new snow and or rain. Wind speed also useful.

Good, works most of time. Good weather forecast and radar, need options to change background of radar.

The best app interface of any weather app I have seen. Very easy to get the info I really need.

I've tried them all, and NOAA is the best! The interface is 2nd to no one.

2020-07-21T11:09:09.376Z
I like this app. I like the "feels like" & "wind chill" for the season especially. The daily weather report is thorough as well as weather updates. The only thing I have trouble with concerns relative addresses I try to keep informed of total 6, but even paying extra fee 3 times, it erases 3 next time I enter app.

2020-07-31T09:58:17.536Z
This app has been on my phone for several years, and I have referred to it on a daily basis for an accurate assessment of weather both local and beyond. It has never failed to function properly during all that time. I can, therefore, recommend this app wholeheartedly and without reservation.

2020-08-02T02:24:29.121Z
I use both Weather Underground and NOAA. I like NOAA for it's simplicity and ease of use. However, since the weather is reported from an airport several miles from my residence, the conditions can be, at times, misleading. Hence, 4 starts, not 5.
Sid Stanfill

Best I've used. Easy to read, does a nice job of reformatting the NWS forecast and making it very readable.
Joe Calderwood
2020-07-05T07:24:06.313Z
This is a very good weather app wih detailed daily narratives of forcast conditions and includes alerts such as high wind or frost warnings. It has good links to additional information, and nearby local weather stations, not just big city airports. I wish it had recorded past meterologic information such as yesterday's & monthly rainfall/snowfall, recorded highs & lows, and comparrison to norms. I like that it doesn't have cutesy graphics that have nothing to do with the weather information.
Max
2020-07-18T23:16:54.842Z
Simple and to the point weather app. I like being able to customize the information shown on the hourly page. Small app and loads fast. PLEASE KEEP IT THIS WAY!

The data is good. Have to purchase so you can save multiple locations in a list. Really handy if you travel a regular route. The radar maps are terrible. Conditions on screen rarely match to ground truth. Yes, I'm a Skywarn Trained Weather Spotter. I threaded the needle in Western Kansas recently but the information through the app and lack of live personnel at NWS on the weather radio did not help either. I relied on my training and experience and ventured forward.

Great app. I was previously using the official NWS app which dropped Android users. This app does what NWS does and more. I rarely pay for apps. This one is well worth the fee.

I used the Weather Underground app for Android for many years, and Weather Underground on the web for decades. -- Then IBM bought it, tried to monetize it, and dropped the Android app. It is largely worthless to me now. I've long used the NOAA as the canonical reference for all things weather, but the website's thoroughness, relative complexity and the lack of an Android app, made it inconvenient to use. This app has been the convenient and reliable front end to the NOAA I needed. 5 Stars.

I Have Installed & Removed This App Several Times, Due To Constant Errors, Data Errors, Etc. I paid for this damn app!! Please learn how to work out the bugs!!! 🙄

2020-05-10T02:17:14.502Z
A good app with a clean interface. It has the hourly graphic data where I can select how much data I want it to show. I find this much easier to interpret than tabular data. The map tab doesn't have the data smoothing other apps have but to me that is a minor point. I general I do like this app!

2020-06-26T15:58:30.564Z
Not quite perfect but pretty darn close. Straightforward and to the point. NOAA warnings, hazardous weather notice and forecast same as local WX radio, not someone else's idea from 1000 miles away. Ability to select various regional weather reporting stations. Hourly forecast chart has useful info. Radar adequate for "looking", resolution not meant to track tornado street by street.
Todd
2020-07-08T21:50:36.631Z
This app often has issues and does not provide the forecast. I paid for this app, and generally like the forecasting portion when it actually works. The radar is pretty crummy and I use a completely different app just to look at the radar. There is definitely room for improvements.
Kevin Hallenbeck
2020-07-09T12:21:58.554Z
This app has been very inaccurate for me not only in my home position but others. We're not talking slightly off, I mean very off and inconsistent. I trust NOAA for much of their information including tides and other nautical data but it DOES NOT translate or update well in this app. My home position and surrounding stations have been down for days now. I am in a well know area in Florida, this is unacceptable. Sure, I can always just Google the weather but this apps issues are disappointing!

I have had the pro version of this app for several years. If your looking for a weather app without all the hype and intrusive advertising download this one. It is simple and accurate. It has everything you need to plan your day. Very configurable to show you what you need to know hour by hour.
Sean Garland
2020-07-07T13:46:57.209Z
So far this is my favorite app for weather. It shows what I want. I don't care for the radar, but that's ok. It does the job just fine. I enjoy the customization with the charts, that's a huge bonus. Plus this app doesn't ask you things or bug you in any way. I've recommended it to people already.
Marc Smith
2020-07-12T00:33:53.885Z
I dig this app simply because it connects me to NOAA. there's nothing fancy about the interface. In fact it's honestly not that amazing of an interface. But it gets down to the nuts and bolts. All I want to know is what NOAA says about the weather not the weather channel. So 5 stars no easy...
Denise Laffan
2020-07-10T14:54:18.399Z
I was one of the people affected by the NOAA outage and even asked about getting my money back. But I saw that you followed up repeatedly with updates about the problem (which with NOAA, not you) and I was impressed. Now the app works again. Thank you. I will be keeping this app and appreciate your work.
Joe Frost
2020-05-23T02:43:38.420Z
I have used the pro version of the NOAA Weather app for 4 years. This is the best app for giving you access to forcasts, real time weather maps, and hourly break down of the forcast. Allows easy management of multiple locations to help with cross country trip planning. Big plus is no intrusive ads.
Jon
2020-06-02T12:40:28.831Z
It does exactly what I wanted it to do. Essentially the mobile NWS website in an app with current location detection. The app has a mixed interface with some nice looking elements and other outdated elements. It would be nice to completely update it to material design, but I'm not gonna complain.
Ryan Mihalak
2020-06-11T20:14:10.696Z
Am a Pro user - only question is why there's always an exclamation point in the pulldown menu tray when there's no hazardous weather to be found. The radar is AWFUL, though - takes forever to load on WiFi or 4G and when it does, it stutters and is useless.
Judson Fisher
2020-06-20T19:15:33.482Z
Perfect balance of clean, simple interface with a rich set of options based on the best tools the National Weather Service has to offer. This is exactly what I was looking for, fast, simple, publicly supported and no ads.
John Lindgren
2020-06-01T02:38:55.389Z
Fast and effective. Presents detailed weather info in a very readable format. Showing humidity in the widget is icing on the cake. This is just what the big-name weather apps ought to be and aren't.

So I got the paid version after years of using the free on. I was 100% sure that it will work better, maybe more features... Well, not so... Paid version is slower then free version... Am I doing something wrong?
Scott Stewart
2020-06-26T13:46:26.517Z
App is clearly presented and easy to use. I ended up purchasing the add free option because I like it so much. I replaced Weather Underground with this when they new version came out and went downhill.

I've used this for a few months now and it's my favorite weather app to date. I like the overall layout and accuracy. I kinda wish it had a lunar calendar, but the paid version with no ads more than makes up for this.
Alex Sanders
2020-06-12T18:12:11.913Z
Loads of useful information, mostly accurate in my area. Really useful once you learn how to navigate it. Not as user friendly for non techies like me as weather underground was before its revamp which ruined it by the way.

This is the best weather app. It's based on the NWS data. Lots of information and easy to access.

I do no need to watch any TV weather. This ap is ustomized to very near where I live. It adapts to my location. I CAN FIND THE WEATHER PROJECTED GRAPHS FOR PLACES I PLAN TO GO. I LOVE THE HOUR BY HOUR GRAPHS. THIS IS GREAT APP.

The more I use this app the better I like it. Clearly the best of the bunch and NOAA Pro is worth the small price for the upgrade. Kudos to the developer.. 5/14/2020 Still using it and loving it

Great app overall but needs alert notifications and no data limits on map viewing. Great that I can see data from our NWS Office rather than some personal weather station. Great that it has no news, commentary, cute animal videos, and weather pics! Thanks!!

Excellent app. Pulls data from NOAA and presents it in a concise way. Has maps and a day by day, hour by hour forecast and is very easy to understand.

Great little app! Easy to use. Weather advisories are helpful and easily seen but don't get in the way of daily weather information. I especially like having the barometer reading available.

1 Device Only. Once you purchase the app if you try to install it on another device looks like you have to purchase it again. After a couple days I was able to install the app on another device. I changed my review from 1 star to 5. I like the app and the wigit. It actually updates every 15 minutes. Some weather apps the wigit does not update unless you touch it.

It's unofficial NOAA, but NOAA doesn't have an app so this is a decent alternative and pretty on par with its predictions. I think the forecast is laid out well, you can easily switch to radar view, and you can bookmark several locations that you frequently travel to quickly pull up their forecasts. It doesn't provide alerts like AccuWeather, but they'll show up at the top of the forecast page for you.

Good presentation of noaa data (forecast, radar, and hourly) in a format for phone and tablet. Only issue is no data when the noaa site is down and no data can be pulled (not th ed apps fault). Much easier than going to weather.gov for the data. And you can have multiple locations so you can quickly check home, camp, parents, ...

This is my go-to weather app after lamenting loss of Dark Skies to Apple and trying at least 6 other weather apps. Bottom line, this app has very complete information, updated when the app opens, presented in a way that can be customized and that is very readable, using an interface that typically requires just one or two clicks to see. Amazingly intelligent and powerful GUI. Great job Granite!!!! Only difference between 'free' version and 'Pro' version is latter eliminates ads which were only on the bottom of the screen and not intrusive at all. My only (trivial) complaint is that the "Pressure" weather factor is not enabled in either version of the app... it was the reason I upgraded. I love it!
