Introducing fishing tournaments through MyCatch, adding a new level of excitement for anglers while still contributing to fisheries research and conservation. In 2020, tournaments everywhere were cancelled leaving many competitive anglers with limited options. So we started testing catch-photo-release tournaments on MyCatch to see what our anglers’ thought, and the verdict is in – they love them! So we are moving full speed ahead with app based tournaments as part of the MyCatch experience. MyCatch was first released in 2018 as a way for anglers to track their catches and at the same time help fisheries biologists by providing important catch data. From a Citizen Science perspective, these new app based tournaments raise the bar again, providing high resolution fisheries data so researchers can improve their understanding of this important resource. And from a conservation standpoint, this is also a big step forward as fish can be measured and then released back into the water in less than a minute, replacing the need for a livewell. Once the photo has been taken, it is automatically sent to the MyCatch server where it is reviewed for accurate length and the correct species, and then pushed to a live leaderboard where anglers can see where they rank in near real time. “Our promise to anglers is that Secret Spots Stay Secret,” says Sean Simmons, Founder and President and Angler’s Atlas and MyCatch. “Every research team we work with must sign a data sharing agreement that sets the terms of use for the data, and data is anonymized before it is provided to the researcher. The goal is to protect the privacy of our anglers while providing fisheries biologists with critical data to better understand the state of our fisheries.” For anglers, the app also provides useful statistics to keep track of your catches, such as number of fish caught, catch rate, species and specific details around each catch. My Catch is produced by Angler’s Atlas, an online platform that has catalogued hundreds of thousands of waterbodies, and helps anglers explore lakes, rivers and oceans with detailed maps, tips and local fishing information. Update solved 95% of issues. Only off-line maps section not working, but it is not critical to the tracking

The latest version of this app for Android just does not work well. You can not easily enter a new trip without it the entry freezing up. You can enter species, date, but location will not register. This app has so much potential but the crashes are becoming frustrating.

Entered a tournament and could not submit nor navigate how to upload or send my catch. App needs to improve on how to submit fish photos with a simple submit fish photo icon or something similar. Out of frustration I uninstalled app and will no longer use it. I would like a refund on my tournament fee

The app runs smoothly enough and in terms of a straightforward fishing log, it's one of the better ones. However, it should really include the option to document weather data, i.e solunar, barometric pressure, wind, etc. And be able to analyze trends. This feature is missing from most of the fishing log apps out there.

Really nice well thought out app. Sent developer feedback on suggestions to improve...including...trophy catch feature, fish recognition feature (see fish brain app), log catches by multiple anglers (I rarely fish alone and want to track my catches as well as my friends catches so on a trip I can enter who came with me and what each of us caught), better reporting on who's caught what and more customizable features. Hoping for some changes SOON!

A good app for finding fishable water with useful links to regulations. But after the last update all of the freshwater lakes near me (lower mainland BC) show as being stocked with salt water fish. Also, when downloading additional maps of a lake the app doesn't recognize any of the PDF reading apps installed on my phone so I can't view them. EDIT: developer has fixed these issues.

Useful, and fun to use. It's like Google maps for fishing. Love the ability to log my trips and do live tracking so I can keep record of what I catch and where. Also great to see where I can and cannot fish with regs to refer to anytime.

Great logging app! Please add a feature that allows you to catalog commonly used lures/baits with a name, description and picture so that you can quickly assign them to new catches, thanks! P.S. and let us edit live tracking logs

Needs Bathymetry. You have a Bathymetry layer for your map but no depth contours. This is the definition of Bathymetry - the measurement of depth of water. I would contribute to the fishing spots feature if this app was more useful.

App does what it says it should do. I've had no issues. I like the stats it provides you. Would be nice to have a length to weight calculator.
