The ONLY, AND I MEAN ONLY, F. M. Radio that works through blue tooth and, SUPER DUPER SURPRISINGLY, it will let you play it with no Head phone connected, even if your reception sucks, you can at least try without the headphones through the loudspeaker option or Bluetooth option. So I say get it now get it fast and appreciate this amazing FM radio app.

antenne On a wired connection, this app is great. Lots of stations and the signal is consistently good. It offers different experience than just streaming music through Spotify, Amazon or Google, which is what I do mostly, but love to still be able to enjoy local radio stations. Especially while traveling, you get to hear local radio stations and helps you get a sense of the community and culture surrounding you. Noticed such a big difference between West Coast, Central and East Coast stations.

  4. Matthew Walton-avatar

sender Not sure why, but this app by default is disabled and hidden on Motorola Moto g7 Supra out of the box ! Had to search in G-play for Moto shows up as installed but disabled ! Before doing this, I searched my apps for radio... NOTHING ! Something weird is up with these Moto g7 phones and Android 9 !

  5. Nancy Ware 2-avatar

bluetooth This "app" has been pre-loaded on two different handsets, and it has not worked on either one. It produces nothing but static and the "tuner" doesn't move. All in all a waste of storage space.

  6. Matthew Miller-avatar

wien Does what it says on the tin, plus some nice extras, like recording. It really does just use the phone's FM tuner (doesn't require internet access.) Note that you will need to plug headphones in to use as an antenna. A clean, simple application. Thanks!

  7. Matthew Cabor-avatar

sender wien Bad Update. Now it takes 10 seconds to start recording and stops responding until then. After uninstalling the update, it works normally on my Moto G6. Other than that, this is probably the best FM radio app I've seen on an android device.

  8. Eli Simonds-avatar

online After an update on my Moto z this app became my default audio player automatically. And even after manually changing the default and disabling the app, because it can't be uninstalled, my phone still tries to play music through it. I just want my app freedom back.

  9. Denise Sprouse-avatar

handy This app has helped me out so many times when ive been on a job and no wifi. Never had any problems. I vote this to be my favorite app. Because it doesn't use wifi, it's easy to use, and it's free. Rock on

  10. Willy Aguilera-avatar

schaltplan Pretty surprised what I experienced with this app. think I'm going to go to the thrift store find me some old headphones cut the wires off put an extension to the cable and install it in my car .has a really sensitive fm tuner.

  11. C0rtical-avatar

Particularly useful outdoors. Great for those who have small data plans. While camping in remote areas I've had times with no cell signal but I could find an FM station.

  12. Robi Rodri-avatar

Cannot tune even one single station. NOT. ONE. SINGLE. STATION.... AT ALL! Nothing but static. Both with AND w/o head phones. Tried using the "seek" feature, tried manually tuning to known local stations, I even tried manually tuning every frequency individually from 87.5 to 107.9 and NOTHING. Well, nothing except static that is. Thanks for the bloatware Moto.

  13. Elizabeth Jones-avatar

I love this. Perfect for tuning in on a radio station when I need some music and I don't have wifi.

  14. Dabomb La-avatar

Thanks for the app. VERY USEFUL. I wish that it would have a free mixer.

  15. Jennifer Holeston-avatar

    Jennifer Holeston

I wish I could delete this from my phone. No station comes in. It's useless to me. There are so many other apps with music ni would never use this one of it did work.

  16. Chrys Conner-avatar

Didn't work without an antenna, if it can't work without an antenna then what's the point of this app. I can get better reception in my vehicle or house radio.

  17. MARK MARIN-avatar

Useful and easy to use. I like how there in no wireless connection needed, just one wired set of headphones. Thank-you!

  18. kunni venkati-avatar

Good app, we need Bluetooth support, it showing, but not playing any station. Please fix this issue.

  19. Kappakappa duk-avatar

Functional, just barely. Never had any luck with using this app. Station overlap is really bad where I live. And this app just can't deal with it.

  20. Mari Adele-avatar

Use it all the time. I love the loud speaker and blue tooth option my last Motorola didn't have those kinda sucked

  21. Warren Two-avatar

I used to only give it one star. But the issue has been fixed. Working flawlessly... Many thanks.

  22. Lester Bell-avatar

I use this app every day, I can keep in touch with the weather and what's going on with the Covid-19 pandemic issue for the whole world.

  23. Kirby Louque-avatar

Great local FM stations, need to have headphones or cable plugged in for antenna no cell data used; great app!

  24. Charley DeSol-avatar

More phones should have FM capabilities. Some have pointed out that the app does not seem to work with Bluetooth, but I have had mixed success. It works great with wired output as is, but I would like them to fix the bluetooth issue too.

  25. Nithin R-avatar

Doesn't work at all. Didn't even catch a single fm radio station

  26. Raspberry Dove-Ali-avatar

    Raspberry Dove-Ali

This app came Factory Installed on my Android phone. I don't use it and can't uninstall it. Takes up too much data for an app that I never use.

  27. Robert Johnson-avatar

It needs microphone permission or it won't open, I decline. FM's on its last legs now, DAB is more useful. Might be useful in an emergency, but until then, it's disabled - because I can't uninstall it.

  28. Mircea Teodorescu-avatar

    Mircea Teodorescu

Main screen is frozen when playing. Cannot changes stations...etc

  29. dl hawes-avatar

Fails to retain settings for sleep timer default and recording. I want to be able to revoke permission to record entirely, but it won't work at all if you do that, and, being completely unnecessary for advertised function, an outrageous overreach on the part of Motorola. If I can't revoke access to the microphone (essential only if I want to record), the product is just broken. A serious bug that makes the product unusable. As to people who don't know the difference between frequency modulation transmission of radio and "streaming", I've got my own pet peeve - almost all of the apps advertised to provide a "radio tuner" don't receive radio at all, much less operate as a tuner, but rely on retransmission of signals via internet. "Radio" refers to radio frequency transmission of signals over the air. "FM radio" refers to a particular modulation technique by which the signal is imposed upon a carrier wave. False advertising and wire fraud.

  30. ben wheelock-avatar

It doesn't use any data beat that! If the phone turns on you're good it works you don't even have to have any cell phone service! It would work in the middle of the desert if there was a radio station around

  31. rally Xb-avatar

Needs BASS and treble adjustments. Sounds very tinny even with Bose headphones. Tuner works OK.

  32. rr rexx-avatar

I love the FM receiver, very unique. Excellent station reception

  33. Slick L-avatar

love it. it isn't flawless but with headphones, i. get really good reception, almost car quality reception. I can't tell if the quality is dependant on the headphones or the phone power, but either way the app works pretty good. haven't recorded anything yet but i don't really need to. sometimes i do need to restart the app for it to work but it's only a minor inconvenience.

  34. Deeps D One Only-avatar

    Deeps D One Only

Not working in background, even there's notification. It close, every time i use clear all (close all) app screen (a screen which pin screen menu is there) So it always turned off & closed, whenever i use clear all (close all) app menu.

  35. Some Person-avatar

Won't run if you don't give it microphone permission. That is really bad and unsafe design. Disabled.

  36. Isaiah Sharplin-avatar

You have to have some sort of antenna for this to work. Additionally, it came perinatal on my phone andI can't install this app.

  37. Manuel Thevenin-avatar

    Manuel Thevenin

I have always used my fm Radio app like this: Phone with wired headphones to use as an antenna, and bluetooth headphones so I can walk freely. This version, even though you already have bluetooth headphones, it asks you to set them up, and if you don't, it wont play, It forces you to "set it up" and goes automatically to bluetooth configuration, and by disconnecting and re-connecting the bluetooth headphones, it works. This is totally annoying and didn't happen with earlier versions.

  38. Amy Trammel-avatar

I love this app!!! So glad to finally have a radio app that actually works. Took a little bit to figure it out but once I did, I can hardly turn it off. Yes with all the digital options to listen to any song you want to when you want it might seem pointless to listen to the radio but when you want to listen to something but you're just not sure what - this is perfect! Thanks Motorola!!!

  39. Mike Hunt-avatar

You actually get to use it like an actual radio. Dial up or down, stop at specific channel! The way a radio is designed to be used as opposed to virtually every other radio app that has predetermined stations. You can record whatever whenever you want to. AND there are ZERO irritating intrusive advertisements, ZERO delay when you turn it on.

  40. A Google user-avatar

After reading reviews on here it amazes me how hopeless people are. YOU NEED WIRED HEADPHONES PLUGGED IN TO ACT AS AN ANTENNA. It tells you this as soon as you open the app! If you want it to play the radio through the loudspeaker or Bluetooth then change the setting on the bottom left of the first screen but keep the headphones plugged in. It really isn't that complicated.

  41. Krish k-avatar

Good app for Moto E5+, has the option to record the songs as well. Users who are facing issues must know few points when using radio. 1. Must connect to earphones as they act as antenna(its pretty common for any fm radio) 2. Should be in good location where radio signals are strong to moderate(weak signals provides more static noise). Some times higher altitudes have good signals, some times 1st floor catches good signal.

  42. Amy Mazur-avatar

Never had any problem. Very simple to use and very reliable.

I've got a bit worried about my privacy with this app recently. Why suddenly FM radio needs microphone to work? It used to work without this permission when I bought the phone, but after an update some time ago, now FM needs a mic permission. This doesn't make sense. I do know you need the earbuds connected to be used as antenna. What I'm talking about is the literal microphone permission. When I first saw it being required, I stopped using it and started listening to online app "radios". Today my internet contract was over and decided to try again in hope that this would have been fixed, but it was not. What is going on here? You should be more transparent to your customers. I'm really bugged why would you need my mic for reproducing FM radio waves. Thanks. Edit: reading some other reviews, I saw a reply from you about it. You need the permission for the radio recording feature. I'll never use that feature ever. Please change how you ask for the permission so it will only ask for it when actually needed. Motorola has a reputation of fast OS updates, so I know this app should be compatible with this feature. Thanks

  44. Misty Coffey-avatar

Love the fact I can listen to music without using my data!

  45. Beverly Howard-avatar

This app is very valuable when traveling as FM radios are quickly disappearing from overnight accomodations. The one MAJOR problem for me is that since this app directly controls the audio output via user selection, there is no way to redirect the audio to ChromeCast which I use any time an HDMI input is available on a TV. All of the other apps that have audio output have no problem casting to the (normally) better speakers in TVs.

  46. gee kuma-avatar

I like the fact I have a FM radio in my phone. Unfortunately the app forgets the stations all the time. I don't want to scan for the channels all the time. Seriously: it forgets the stations even when phone is on the table (headset as antenna ofc), charging and playing - and yet it forgets all the channels I just scanned 15 mins earlier. To a some level I'd understand the station loss if I was in a fast driving car, but I'm at home. Pros: Does the radio job well, happy for that! Cons: Forgets stations after a short while, so don't bother with scanning.

  47. Tim Wood-avatar

Buggy and untested. The app requires a wired headset to act as an antenna. Even if have one plugged in (to act as an antenna), the in app control to switch sound output refuses to switch to bluetoooth (bluetooth isn't setup) even if bluetooth works with other apps. The app does have a bug reporting tool built in (yay!) but, even if all the text fields are filled out, the submit button is disabled

  48. Michael Cooper-avatar

Spyware! Do not install! Does absolutely nothing but request permission to use the microphone, which it has no business accessing.

  49. Alan Raskin-avatar

App is good, but the two scrolling info lines need improvement. The top line is too short for no reason, and the bottom one scrolls then jumps when the top line changes. Make the top line wider and have the bottom one just scroll. Also, Canada/Mexico is a stupid combined entry for the region list...

  50. Andreau Potvin-avatar

This is the most perfect and best FM app I have ever used! I have a couple of suggestions for the app if you could add them -Option to control the FM Sensitivity -Option to change format and bitrate of recordings as well as a time limit -Option to toggle RDS on or off -Recieve SCR signals (67khz and 92khz)

  51. R Baudeck-avatar

Voice commands seem to conflict sometimes with iHeartradio (which I have never installed, it seems Google assistant thinks I'm trying to use it).

  52. Jesus Sanchez-avatar

It works by plugging in ear plug into phone and record any stations

  53. Angus Sheehan-avatar

I love the recording feature! I've been able to track down so many artists on college radio because of it.

  54. David Norm-avatar

Why is this on our phones? Why can't it be removed and not just disconnected?

  55. A Google user-avatar

When used with headphones (act as an antenna) I was able to use the app off-line. There are different ways to channel surf - a radio type graphic with a forward/backward button and a list. The station number can also be entered directly. Quality depends on radio reception in a given area.

  56. Michael Morgan-avatar

Works fine when used properly and I'm glad to have it available. Almost all phones require wired headphones or earbuds to be connected as an antenna for the FM radio hardware. From the comments I've seen on most 1 star reviews I guess that's not obvious for everyone.

  57. Bruce Carter-avatar

I used this a lot before my local station came out with its own app.

love it, although it requires head phones as an antenna, stil amazing. Moto G7 Power, no problems so far! thanks so much for an alternative to not being able to listen to the radio when dad listens to mpr in the Rainier. Thanks Motorola for a radio app I can listen to all the time. Thanks again for an amazing Motorola G7 power experience .

  59. Rob-avatar

The moto fm radio is hella cool because i can record my own music that I want to listen to. The app seems a little better but it still seems like it still freezes up ever once in awhile when your going between other apps. I can't change stations when going back to the radio app after maybe 5 times or ao going between apps. Your like stuck on one station. Or after a few times going between apps and i have a video come up and it turns the radio off then u cant turn the radio back on.

  60. Robert Hardin-avatar

I love this app. User friendly. My city has lots of music going on. The radio stations here offers variety.

  61. CosyHamster-avatar

Even comes with a station bookmark and recording feature!

  62. Victoria king-avatar

Couldn't get even 1 station to pick up. So in my opinion it's just on the phone to record me

  63. Bruce Tucker-avatar

Problems with this app: used to work well a few months ago, but over last few weeks has begun cutting out and freezing. Phone is Moto G6 Play, now with Android Pie. Restarting phone solves problem temporarily, but then problems return. Thinking about reinstalling to see if that works...

  64. Quiet One-avatar

How does not work without earphones for an antenna so this makes it worthless for me

  65. Daniel Tilden-avatar

Very useful app if you have a phone with FM Radio compatibilities. App has some good features and excellent sound for listening and recording (depending on radio reception, of course). I would request a few more changes, however. Almost perfect.

  66. david mabrey-avatar

Came with my Moto g series phone . Needs headphone plugged in for antenna and I think I call bull.. so I disabled it and won't use it

  67. Karen Gibbons-avatar

I can't get this app to stop popping up when I am using my Bluetooth in my car for my phone. I have went into settings and turned everything off but it still pops up when I don't even use it. I use my phone for work and it interrupts my GPS all the time. Please tell me how do I stop this

  68. Josiah Rutter-avatar

I can't remove it from my device. I can't disable it. I can't disable notifications. I don't want this application because I don't listen to any radio, but it's forced on me. And it takes up space on my phone even though I don't want it to. And there's nothing I can do about it.

  69. ANA MENDEZ-avatar

Honestly, this FM Radio app DOES NOT WORK at ALL!!!! It's really just taking up storage space from my phone and it's unable to uninstall it 😞😡😞🌋⚫

  70. Parth Kubavat-avatar

suddenly i can't start recording..?? every time it gives recording could not start message... why it is happening i can't understand... what's the problem.. please give me solution for this issue.. please replay me as soon as possible...

  71. Jayme Hodge-avatar

I love the radio. I hate that the only way to listen to it without the headphones, the ear buds still have to be plugged into the phone? Why. Also, if you are listening to the radio, without the buds, you cannot pair up any type of Bluetooth.

  72. Ann Marie-avatar

The app did find my stations, but it only connects with a wired headphone which seems to make the stations come in unclear and a lot of static feedback! It needs work, but it does do what it was created to do!

  73. JG77 Northeast-avatar

Awesome radio app. It's clean, functional and it does what it's supposed to do, which is it actually works and doesn't drop a payload of scumware on your phone

  74. Laurie Bain-avatar

  81. Ralph Smith-avatar

Been enjoying this app for years and it just keeps getting better. Wish all the crybabies complaining and giving poor reviews for this app would realize that the main problem is their own stupidity. Frustration is one thing, being hopelessly dumb is another.

  83. Robert Benson-avatar

i love this app!!! absolutely picks up all local stations just like a regular fm radio no internet necessary, also just like a regular fm radio plus you can Bluetooth it! it's awesome nothing like it! thank you!

  84. keisha green-avatar

This app is only here to choose radio stations for certain nationalities. It's not for everyone. There are way more channels on the radio in my area than the ones this app chooses to play. If you are a music lover please dont get this app. Even as I typed this comment, it somehow did not type out as correctly as I usually type.🤔🤔🤔

  85. Scott Johnson-avatar

This app FREEZES ON LAUNCH. It must be Uninstalled then Reinstalled and will work 1 or 2 times before Uninstall/Reinstall to work again. HTC had the FM chip and player perfect. Look what happened. 90% market to 0% in US. USA will not allow free things. IF I COULD RATE NEGATIVE FIVE STARS, I would. Namaste.

  90. Juan Felipe-avatar

Please fix it!! there is a bug that sometimes when i turn it on, the sound doesn't come out. So i need to turn it off and on again to work properly... and sometimes the radio stops suddenly

  91. Joseph-avatar

Works great for me on my Moto X4. Plugged in my headphones and found over 30 stations. I am near NYC, with lots of radio stations, so this app is really useful to me.

The Moto FM Radio app has made many progressive changes over the years due to Motorola's consistent updates. Today's feature-packed FM Radio has an appealing and intuitive UI, and encompasses everything I need. Great work Moto!

  93. Our Stuff-avatar

Requires microphone permission "to enable radio recording". I don't want to record, just listen, but the app won't open unless the microphone permission is granted. Stupid.

UI works well, but on a Moto g(7) Play doesn't reproduce stereo in any way, even with strong signal. In my old E4 radio works much better, perfect stereo sound. What's the problem ? Chipset ? Bad SDR implementation ?

  95. Maer Reynolds-avatar

Never works. Doesn't pick up a single channel no matter where I'm at

  96. Spadecoffin-avatar

Great stock app. A realtime FM radio that records. I run my FM transmitter from guitar and amplifier headphone jack to record riffs. Only true way to record instruments on an android that I know of. Sounds as good as a line in.

If a developer reads this please add an HD tuning capabilities to this app. I am unable to listen to some of my favorite HD radio stations. New cars have HD radio... No reason this can't be added through a software update.

Great that this app allows navigation instructions in the car to silence the radio. But pity that the app is not compatible with Android Auto. Ideal would be if the easy to use safety screens in Android Auto would work with the FM Radio app.
