RTSP handshake failed, error 500. Update: Thanks for reply, uninstalled gfe and installed 3.21 and now working. I did have experimental features enabled which updated to 3.22 so figured out it was gfe and not moonlight. Will try version 9.8.6. Thanks again. 5 stars excellent app and support.

amd Would like to see a fit to screen option that would zoom in to remove black bars while cutting off part of the image. Games also not updating correctly even after uninstalling and reinstalling GFE and moonlight Works great. Devs have addressed every other issue I can think of so far. I don't think the devs can do anything to fix Android's system level mouse acceleration.

setup Best game streaming app out there if you're using an Nvidia GPU. I even tested it using a 4G connection and man it's playable. To maximize the potential of this tech, I think having a mid/high end router wifi5/wifi6 is needed. I used a cat8 cable from my modem to the main router and PC to main router (I know it's an overkill). My phone supports 144hz and wifi 6 so gaming through the same network is just amazing. Kudos to the team of developers who made this possible.

Great app when it works, but now without changing anything the app just doesn't pass any controller input to the host, making the app totally unusable. Sadly the devs decided to close the issue with "go to discord". Useless. Use parsec, it works perfectly and the dev isn't a prick.

  19. PowerMechGuy-avatar

This app is incredible. If you can manage to get your pc connected via ethernet to you router and your internet is in the realm of 200 Mbps, you have yourself an complete setup. The streams are as if you are at the computer yourself. From fps to strategy, there is nothing this app can't handle. If you are a mobile first user like myself, this will change the way you look at computing, possibly for good.

Sadly controller support is now non functional after changing no settings, just updating the app. Asked dev for help, he locked thread & said to check discord, despite knowing I had just been there. Broken app and rude, lazy dev. Use parsec instead, that actually works unlike this mess.

A great app, works flawlessly over cable LAN (100mbit/s). I launch steam through Moonlight and then I can play steam games with mouse and keyboard on a TV with Android TV box connected to it. If some game is not listed by moonlight I can add it to steam library (even if it is not originally a steam game) and launch it through steam through moonlight. I do this so I could play with mouse and keyboard on a TV, I have not found a better way.

Been using this since the early release days. Love the fact that this exists, and has active development. This opens the door to allow gamestreaming with in-home server setups, rather than relying on paid services that may one day change, and bite up your wallet along with the digital collection you "own". Thank you!

Great application. Ive been usimg this for years. My only complaint is the HDR streaming on devices running android 10+ seems to lag. It works on another device running androId 9. Which is a bummer. I use a script to enable/disable HDR which makes this mucb less of a pain. I recomend this app to all my PC gaming friends. To me it is a must have.

It is really responsive and crazy low latency but I frequently have to quit and reopen the stream because my computer begins stuttering. The only way is to quit and reopen. Annoying. Also, the app frequently shows exclamation point and can't connect. But another device is perfectly able. Too many anomalies. Many other bugs as well. Ie: double click no longer functions on computer when connected, after minimizing a screen or switching to another tab/window Moonlight still shows the previous app.

Works great, but not having support for on screen keyboard/mouse is pretty annoying. Can't really play games like World of Warcraft. I can get to the auction house one step at a time by holding the screen with one finger and tapping with the other, but I can't put things up for sale since I can't type the price, and I certainly can't go fight anything. If this were added, 5 stars easy. Add TeamViewer to your PC in case you get connection issues. You can restart the PC. Dont shut off gamestream!

  63. Erdem Gunseli-avatar

    Erdem Gunseli

I am very aware that you, as developers are limited in terms of manipulating Nvidia Shield streaming, but it shouldn't be too hard to add customisable gyroscope support, eneble an option to remove the RS in exchange of a 'drag to aim' function and make buttons resizable and appropriately shaped. I would be happy to pay for these features if you make them available through an in-app purchase, and I know that I am not the only one. What you guys have done is very impressive, keep it up!

  64. Zapren Kostadinov-avatar

    Zapren Kostadinov

This app works great. On a phone especially. On Chrome OS, it's quite a different story. The web app that you advise to use on Chrome OS barely works. It stutters too much for any game to be playable. When installing this app, the performance is dramatically better, however, it doesn't register my mouse clicks at all. Are you working on Chrome OS performance (low-end hardware - Celeron n3350)? Should I stick with the web app or use the Android one?

  65. Insta-avatar

Fast, stable, and most importantly, it just works. If your PC has an NVIDIA GPU, and you've got a gamepad for your phone, that's all you need to play your PC games over the network. There's negligible latency on fast networks*, and you can even connect your device to a TV for a console-like experience! If you're willing to forward a few ports on your router, you can play anywhere in the world too. *For the best experience, plug PC into Ethernet, and for the client, use 5 GHz Wi-Fi or LTE/5G.

  66. Jonathan Wilson-avatar

Amazing app. Been using this for years and it gets better every few months. It is so good now that there is little that can be improved. It is perfect so long as you are using a gamepad. I hear the on screen controls could be better with an option to scale the button sizes. If you implemented keyboard input from your phone's osk along with the ability to zoom in and out of the desktop, this would not only be the best game streaming app, but also the best remote desktop client!

  67. Carlos Manuel Peña Gomez-avatar

    Carlos Manuel Peña Gomez

Totally love it, I use it all the time when going to the kitchen or the bathroom and need to do something on my desktop PC, also gaming is great, very customizable settings, lowest latency of all the programs I've tested (Parsec, Steam, etc) at least on my home network, haven't tried out of home yet but so far so good! Hope it keeps improving even more.

Awesome app. I bought a Razr Kishi controller. All works flawlessly. It would be good to get a full list of "supported" games. I don't know if this is the case or I had a blip but it seems games you add manually don't run as well. I tried adding F1 2020 and couldnt get round a lap without it skipping etc. Immediately booted Forza Horizon 4 and it didn't drop a single frame for an hour play time.

  69. Aaron Goodson-avatar

Would be nice if you could customize the touchscreen control. As it is its very basic and unpolished. Id like to be able to use two fingers to use the scroll wheel, double tap to click and hold ect. There is no right click hold. Its very rough trying to use it for mouse games. I got it for the sims4 which was a very stressful experience. It works though which is a plus I guess. Its more of a tease of what it could be but isnt.

I always get screen flickering when I try to launch any game (just in the moonlight app though, not via other streaming services or the computer itself). Would love to get some help here cause otherwise it's the best streaming service there is hands down. It's extremely fast and (not speaking of the issue above) reliable. There's basically no competion. I tried several other services and this is the most stable BY FAR!

  71. John Richardson-avatar

    John Richardson

this is a great app, its performance is far better than trying to use remote desktop to stream games. i do get times where the connection freezes for a few seconds, but thats probably just because im using an older device. the performance is actually very supprising as im able to get 720p at 30fps with no real issues aside from the aforementioned occasional stutter.

Absolutely fantastic app ! I installed it on a mid-range Android TV box and now I can stream my games from my gaming laptop to my large TV in my living room in very good quality (x265/1080p/60Hz/20Mbit/s). Paired with a PS4 controller and you are good to go. The lag is hardly noticeable (although I probably wouldn't play a fast First Person Shooter). The whole experience is very seamless and it works ! Saved me from buying a NVIDIA Shield. Thank you, Cameron Gutman !

HUGE FLAW. When running Moonlight on Nvidia Shield TV, it doesn't provide force feedback when playing with its official Nvidia Shield Controller or any other controller connected via Bluetooth (ie. Xbox One or PS4 controller). When playing via "Nvidia Games" (Nvidia's Own app) on the Nvidia Shield TV, there's force feedback, however Nvidia has updated its latest version of "Nvidia Games" app and quietly removed the ability to connect to your Remote Desktop "ie. C:\Windows\System32\mstsc.exe" as it no longer allows connection to it. For this reason I was hoping to completely switch to Moonlight only, but it looks like for the moment I'll have to wait until this flaw is fixed. Once this force feedback issue has been fixed on the Nvidia Shield TV, I'll amend my review and give it 5 stars instead. Nevertheless, Moonlight is a amazing app, Its really awesome even when playing remotely. Well done Devs. Keep up the amazing work.

  74. Blake-avatar

Excellent app. I have a wireless N router but experience no issues on 5GHz for local or remote. The remote helper tool on PC is awesome as well as it configures firewall automatically to work with remote streaming. Far better quality and less stuttering than the Steam Link app for me. I've been forcing h265 which allows me to go up to 1080p60 at a modest bitrate. My only dislike or suggestion is to add an on-screen keyboard, its so necessary. Using Windows on-screen keyboard as a workaround.

  75. ༒Gorm Auslander༒-avatar

    ༒Gorm Auslander༒

It's pretty great. You devs are not only skilled, but also very kind to make this free and open source. I wouldn't mind seeing the touch controls more developed, closer to what windows tablets use (swipe to scroll, long-press to right click, long-press-swipe to click and drag). It's practically perfect already, so the only way I know to improve it is to add more touch controls. At that point, it would be like I sideloaded Win10 on my device.

Once you figure out how to set it up this app works perfectly. Was able to link it to my desktop and stream any game and even access software from my desktop. It's pretty much remote access for your computer but it only works within your internal network. I tested it with final fantasy 15 on my desktop and I could not see any latency.

I was having what I can only describe as quirky issues between Steam stream and Nvidia game stream. I found this program and gave it a shot and it works flawlessly. I have the beautiful picture quality I receive with Nvidia stream, with the low latency I experience with Steam. It's the best of both worlds. Successfully installed and tested on Moto G7, Nvidia sheild gen 2, and my Lenovo Yoga 730.

  79. Phantom Liberty-avatar

Better than any other streaming app! Other streaming apps have pretty abysmal audio latency. There may be a tiny bit of audio latency here but it's hard to tell meaning it might as well be properly synced up. As far as input latency goes it's typically the best too at least when using 5ghz Wi-Fi. If your device has a high refresh rate the latency will be heavily diminished. Tested with my ROG Phone 2 streaming at [email protected]: 60hz = ~14ms, 120hz = ~6ms. 120hz feel incredibly close to native.

Excellent, I would just add a small missing improvement, The ability to pop out a virtual keyboard to unlock a session or change a setting that need an input. It's a pain in the ass to use the windows on screen keyboard. Using the android one would be nice. Thanks for that amazing ad-free app 😍 Edit: Ok, the android keyboard can be enabled with a three finger tap. Just need to find now a good working floating keyboard now 😅

  81. Star Light-avatar

    Star Light

It actually works. The only real issue is that if the connection drops you have to restart both devices to get it going again. But it does what I need. I can send my pc screen to my tablet and it's mostly stable. Other downsides: sometimes the audio is overly compressed (despite having plenty of bandwidth), it doesn't work with my PS4 controller, and sometimes it will just lag for a moment every few seconds, even if I'm not moving.

  82. Christopher Wright-avatar

    Christopher Wright

This app was a pleasant surprise! After having low framerates, micro-stutters and lag spikes from Steam Link and Parsec, Moonlight was like a breath of fresh air. Solid, evenly-timed 60 fps with almost zero lag spikes after playing for 4 hours straight. This serves as a strong testament to the quality of Nvidia's GameStream protocol, and I'm grateful that Moonlight exists to take full advantage of it.

  83. Alexander Spaulding-avatar

    Alexander Spaulding

This is so awesome. I can play anything with the right hardware. right now ive got my high speed internet connected to this app and port forwarded, I even tried it from a friends house remotely streaming from my house. It worked. my setup is an S9+ with dex station, so i got an external touch screen monitor, my phone is connected through ethernet, with mouse, keyboard, and a wired xbox controller. this app literally has no issue playing my games at high frames and 1440p resoulution. Worth it.

  84. Chris-avatar

Does exactly as advertised and extremely well at that. I stream at 1080p and being able to take my pc games anywhere in the house without having to deal with cables or the uncomfortable feeling of my hot laptop on my lap is incredible. The input lag is not noticable at all, overall the best way to stream pc games to your phone without a doubt.

  85. Stephanafro-avatar

Absolutely incredible. I've used this on my Nexus Player, Nvidia Shield 2019, Galaxy S6 Edge+, and now POCO X3, and the experience has been flawless on every device. Sub 10ms latency on all of them. 4K, surround sound, 120fps, this really has it all, and it all just works. Thank you.

  86. Fredrik Vatsendvik-avatar

    Fredrik Vatsendvik

This app is fantastic, works much better than steam in home streaming with clearer picture, more stable performance and lower input lag (and 90hz streaming works flawlessly). My only suggestion would be to add the possibility of doing virtual keyboard input for typing. Would be useful for some games requiring log-in for example and would probably make this a top tier remote desktop alternative as well.

Best than I expected. Flawlessly stream in my local network (host and stream device both in wi-fi). Very smooth experience with mortal Kombat 10, GTA V, and hellblade (played until now) with a solid 60 FPS and no lost packages. A must have to any played. Simply an amazing experience!

Amazing! Idk why its free, id pay you money for this! Makes my phone into the perfect stream rig! Yes! I SAID STREAM RIG! Pair this app with Streamlabs OBS or Screen Stream Mirroring app and your phone is now a full streaming beast! I can now stream my PC gameplay to twitch with ease! Would love it if the streaming feature was available on this app so I didnt have to use two different apps but for now it works for everything I need! Wish we could disable phone mic in streaming though!

  89. Ricardo Pascal-avatar

    Ricardo Pascal

This app is AMAZING! It streams in high quality and with low latency, awesome! And on my S20 plus, it runs at a smooth 60fps! This is the BEST game streaming platform except for one unfortunate detail: ***RANT WARNING*** It gets 1 star off for being *needlessly* stingy with its lack of a simple controller button remap feature! Every android emulator out there has this basic feature, and it allows unsupported or improperly mapped (by Android OS) controllers to be mapped however you want. Not all of us can go out and by 3-4 Xbox One S controllers (which work with no problem) or root our phones (warranty problems and need of a factory reset) so we can manually edit the keymapping text file (which you need root to edit). If I sound salty, I am! I spent countless hours trying to find a work around, and I found so many threads going back 5 years of people looking for work arounds. I mean, how was an entire touch screen interface implemented but not a controller remap feature? Especially when 90% of gamers would prefer a controller over touch screen? Its infuriating! I'm giving up for now by buying a Raspberry Pi 4, which will allow me to modify the keymapping files with SUDO root access (I was going to get one soon regardless to be fair haha). I have all these controllers that I've had for 20+ years (using PC adapters) and there is no reason I should be artificially restricted to a few supported controllers out the box (maybe I should direct a bit of my ire at Android itself). I just wanna use my gamecube/PS2 controls :'( (via Mayflash 3 in 1 adapter). Thank God I at least have ONE Xbox One S controller lol. So, if you're anything like me and don't want the hassle, stick with Steam Link, which *GASP* allows you remap any bindings that android incorrectly mapped (before connecting to the host computer)! But, its a shame because Steam Link has more lag spikes and is generally less consistent. If Moonlight could add this one feature, it would be a perfect 5/5, but as it stands, its 4/5 (unless I'm missing some mysterious technical reason why controllers can't be remapped like Steam Link does). ***RANT OVER*** All that being said, Moonlight really is an incredible game streaming platform (once its set up), it has no rival in my opinion! I played not only steam games like Cuphead and Sekiro but also BOTW on cemu and Smash Ultimate on yuzu (emulators) over 5Ghz wifi at 1440p, 60fps, and minimal latency! Its some wizardry! I can't complain too much since all this amazing stuff is for free, but if I may, please I beg you, add a controller remapper! :D

I think it's great, network set up kinda stinks but when you have a provider like Xfinity that's to be expected, though I hope one day you could add google cardboard to VR support because I feel as if it could be possible, or just plain Google Cardboard support might be an easier implementation, so we can play some titles in simulated VR

Nothing else comes close in terms of performance! this is the best streaming solution for android period! Did I mention it's free with no ads!!?? Way to go to the Dev team - wish all software products were even close to being as good as this! keep it up devs - huge moonlight streaming app fan since the early builds...

was interested to see if this works the way its intended and im happy to report it dose. i have a i7 6700k gtx 1070 and 32 gigs of ram for my rig running the games. i also have a hardwire from my router and a good internet connection at home. i took the app 4 hrs from my home and was able to play fifa 19 , the division 2 and anthem no problems over a full bar 4g LTE connection. gotta say im pretty impressed.

Amazing! Works really good on home network and over the internet. Just make sure you have good WiFi or wired coverage around the house. When playing over the internet, you need a decent connection both sides. Provided you have a good network this app is nothing short of epic.

Not many apps out there that have developers constantly update their apps without a significant amount of time in between even if they do. This is one app I do appreciate that gets constant updates and strives to improve it every day. I thank you for an amazing app and will continue to support it every way I can.

Great app for streaming games from pc. Get the odd connection issues which is to be expected. Far better then Steam Link. The fact that it's a free app makes me feel like I'm stealing. I would pay for this app no problem.

It beats Steam Link streaming quality if you have an NVIDIA GPU, better than Shield app too. Link maybe easier to use tho (all steam games show automatically), less manually adding games. HDR is detected per game if on, so games that don't have it run fine. Very little lag, avg decoding latency is normally around ~2ms wired (~20 wireless) and no input problems with Dualshock 4. Ethernet streams 4K/60fps on Shield, wifi streams 1440p/60fps on Note, and 4G LTE streams 720p/30fps when roaming.

Absolutely amazing! Peoples heads explode when they see me playing highly graphic intensive games on my phone. Afterwards their torsos and limbs and everything else thats remains of them gets blown away when i say that im using an app that allows me to access/play/work etc my computer through the internet. You'll need a Bluetooth keyb/mouse/controller unless you want to use your phones touch screen for everything. 10/10 no ads/premium would recommend. This is any geeks wet dream, including mine.

  98. Angelo-avatar

Best streaming app so far, I switch between this and Rainway often. Rainway UI wise is much more refined and seamless, but Moonlight's performance makes up for it. There is one use case in the Android client I keep checking for in updates, a shortcut for the performance overlay would be very useful (either on controller or touch gesture) An option to customise the performance overlay would be nice too. Most of the time the hardware info is irrelevant (an option to only display latency)

while the game integration with the joystick is amazing, it would be great ifnit had direct keyboard input support (for android) without the need of an external keyboard. It would also be great if WASD controls existed for games with no joystick support.

This app is amazing you can stream your pc games anywhere with wifi. Its 100x better than the steam link and works beautifully. The only issue was getting my ports unblocked on my computer to be able to stream anywhere. This team deserves the praise.

Works really well. Use it with a wired Xbox controller and HDMI out to my TV. Looks bizarre, but whatever! Almost as good as having a console. Better, in some ways even, due to superior graphics and game selection!

  102. DonutWithMustache-avatar

As i promised, I'm changing this review from 1 star once the few big problems were fixed. I'm still giving only four stars because of multiple smaller problems, but since they aren't as app breaking, I'm fine. Moonlight is a good alternative to other streaming platforms such as steam link and whatnot, since it's simplicity means less lag. But using it is nowhere as simple, but still manageable. All in all I would've given this 4.5 stars if If possible, but considering previous problems, I'm not.

Thank you for being a saviour. The best part is that it is available for my TV 🙏 and I can play games without connecting via HDMi and it works flawlessly. BETTER THAN STEAM LINK software. I have both moonlight and steam link and with the same exact conditions, moonlight is way better and optimized in terms of performance. Thank you for such a wonderful app and that too for free, without ads. ♥️

This is amazing, to be able to play on my pc when im at a friends house or when im on the road is amazing, it run very smoothly and rarely stutters at all even on 3G data! 10/10 would def recomend to gamer friends.

  108. Yami_Industries-avatar

Best experienced on data or good wifi needs a an actual D pad and round shaped buttons that are easier to adjust size also why do the sticks only shrink or grow when they are on the bottom of the screen? Please fix this!!! 9/10 with a yami_inc seal of approval

by far one of the best game/desktop streaming apps iv ever used its reliability is solely reliant on your device capabilities and connectivity the software is damn near spot on perfect if used correctly you will have to configure it but once you get it dialed in it works flawlessly and if you dowload the internet stream helper on the host pc the app become even better way better than most game stream services. ps. works best on 5ghz networks but 2.4 is fine with bit rate tweaks and use a gamepad

VPN to home from any decent wifi connection and play any game on my rig from my phone, tablet, or cheap laptop while on the go! Simply works. I have been struggling with steam remote play app which constantly craches the steam client. This app works with all games I've tried. It even streams steam's remote play client, which in turn launches games in steam library, without issue. On the other hand steam's own app keeps crashing for me.

Don't even bother if you came here via Riftcat. It's just a redundant nuisance that adds new elements of frustration once you get it as polished as can be. Wouldnt detect the remote even though it was using riftcat/vridge - yet without moonlight the daydream remote worked. mouse/keyboard? GL! Controller connects to the phone & phone is evidently taking sensory input, but not? mouse can not sync to follow pointer, trash fixes. Overlay/hotkeys leads to bigger issues. Neverending clusterfxxx. Wow.

10/10 My only issue with it is that I cannot use my USB joystick because the buttons use Keycodes for Generic Buttons (Button 1 to 16) and not the ABXY keycodes (Thus moonlight does not let me use them) Is there a workaround for this?
