The app: the weather at a glance on your home screen

Meteogram widget is a weather app showing the weather in a very detailed way at a glance on your home screen. While a lot of weather apps are showing the weather forecast in a rather basic way, this app does that by visualizing the forecast in a so-called meteogram. Doing so gives the user a much better idea of when exactly rain will fall, the sun will be shining, when it will become cloudy...

The main focus of the app consists in showing the meteogram on a small home screen widget (e.g. a 4X1 widget). Even while the widget does not occupy that much space on the home screen, it still manages showing the forecast in a very clear way. Simply add a widget on your home screen, specify your location (or let the widget automatically determine your location) and the weather forecast appears on your home screen.

The meteogram shows the temperature and expected precipitation for the whole forecast period. Besides those typical weather elements, the wind speed, wind direction and air pressure can also be visualized. The user has all freedom to determine how the meteogram should look like: a great set of configuration settings allows the user to customize the widget completely to his own needs.

Feature overview

• Temperature, precipitation, wind and pressure

• Cloudiness / clearness indication

• Short term forecast (next 24 or 48 hours)

• Short term forecast for the next 5 days

Below is a summary of the features that are exclusively available in this donate version:

• Long term forecast (next 10 days)

• Show humidity percentage

• Show sunrise and sunset

• Show wind vane for wind direction

• Blue temperature line color when below freezing

Weather forecast data

All thanks to MET.NO (The Norwegian Meteorological Institute) for offering the weather forecast data. For a lot of European countries hourly forecast data is available, while for other countries 3 hourly data is available. For the long term forecast period, one of the best weather models - ECMWF - is used.

NOTE: for locations in the United States, NOAA is also offered as short term weather provider.

I've been missing my quick weather forecast ever since wunderground updated and killed all their good widgets. this one is an almost perfect replacement. I'd give another star if it would show chance of precipitation instead of just the amount of precipitation. otherwise it's actually much better. maybe another plus would be to use wunderground as an optional source as well.

meteogram weather widget donate apk I installed the free version first, tested for a few days. It was so good I decided to donate! Very good job! I think I got more than what I looked for!

I wish it could present the Day/Night as background shading (like AIX Weather) rather than just indicated at the bottom axis.

Just installed this after aix stopped working. No way to get into settings once you've added the widget, you have to delete the widget and add a new one. Tapping on the app just gives a walkthrough and tapping on the widget does nothing.. -------------------- Update: I fixed it. You have to long press the app icon in your app drawer, then go to "app info", then go to "other permissions", then enable "Display pop-up windows while running in the background." Now I can access the settings by tapping on the widget. 5 stars

as a long time aix widget user, this one is the next best thing! and (no bad sounds about AIX (a big shoutout here for that developer) this one is even better (-: the good things remains, it's small but all info is presented in a readable way. But the new forecast and slightly more configuration possibilities makes this one a definite V 2.0 support the developer!

One of the best widget apps for weather forecasts. Well done Benny on a great app. Some suggestions / bugs: 1) On 7+ day forecast, the Min/Max badges should have an option to see what the Min/Max is for each day (not the whole week). 2) On 7+ day forecast, there seems to be a bug which means the graph doesn't start from "now", It is Thursday here, and it shoes Saturday as the first day (no label for some reason), and then Sunday onwards shows. I cant work out what is going on here. 3) In the title of any graph, would be good to have forecast "Min/Max temps" for the day in the title. 4) Can tides be added as an option? I'm picturing it to look similar to any of the other chart options, but instead tracks tides which are no doubt available via the weather service provider? Hopefully that's something to think about :). Great app though. Thanks - Tony

The app is quite lightweight (low resource usage on data and memory) but still full featured, the weather info for the next days is presented in a concise and nice way. The used weather provider has really good forecasts, with quite a detailed regional grid. I had one issue specific to my phone brand... but the developer fixed it within a reasonable time after I reported it- so also 5* for the support.

This is the most-looked-at widget on my phone. Highly customizable. Pretty enough to be a feature of my home screen. So much info at a glance. A glitch in the last update broke the day/night indicator. I trust that will be fixed soon. EDIT: Dev contacted me about bug report immediately- same day. Reported bug was fixed and published within 24 hours. I'm impressed! App back to 100%. Thanks!

This is a great replacement for Aix Weather. I'd used it for years, but it suddenly wouldn't update the data. It would only use Norwegian WX so the temperature was off, etc. This app is accurate as can be. You can set the meteogram up to extremes if you want, but I like wind speed and direction arrows, cloudiness, and some title items. I really like the day/night bar at the bottom. I played with the non-donate app (which has no ads) for 15 minutes, then paid the donation. Well worth it.

  21. Craig Artlett-avatar

    Craig Artlett

Finally, a weather widget that tells me what I need to know without having to go into a weather app. With a quick glance I can see the temperature, cloud cover, and amount of rain for each hour for the next 24 hours (can be configured for 48 hours) and I can see a weather summary for 5 more days. Pressure, wind speed, wind direction, and humidity can also be added. You can choose the weather provider and both light and dark themes are supported. What would make this widget perfect would be to have options to remove the location from the title and the precipitation from the right y-axis for a cleaner look. These values don't change on my phone so they just clutter the screen.

I used to have the AIX weather widget for years and loved it, but after Android Pie it just wouldn't work all the time, which was really frustrating. This is the perfect solution and is actually better than the AIX widget with more customisation options, including making the widget clickable for quick access to options and an expanded forecast. One of the very few apps that I have been happy to pay for. Well done.

Superb weather widget. I've tried a lot of weather widgets and this is easily the best I've seen. Tremendous amount of information packed clearly and in a very attractive way into a small space. Great developer support as well, the fastest response time I've ever seen. I had a few questions and the developer emailed me back on a Sunday morning in only a few minutes. Works perfectly on my Samsung Galaxy S10e and Android 10. Here's a tip for the few people having a problem with the widget just sitting at "updating". Turn off Samsung's aggressive sleep settings for this app and then restart your phone. It will change to "Loading" and then come up fine. Although the free version is good, this is an app well worth paying the very reasonable price for. The "Donate" version more than doubles the value. A great deal of work has clearly gone into this app. Highly recommended.

  25. James Conway-avatar

The widget is great. The main frustration I have is inconsistent auto refresh. I find myself having to manually refresh despite having 'update interval' set to 30 minutes Personally I would prefer to have more control over the units of the vertical axis. For example manually setting the step variable.

Really nice app. I've been looking for a meteogram style app that uses NOAA forecasts. Would be 5 stars if the NOAA forecast was accurate though. For example, the app gives the 5 day high temperature forecast as: 71 | 73 | 72 | 76 | 72 and the actual NWS forecast is 72 | 74 | 77 | 80 | 75. In some cases its more than 5 degrees off.

With this widget, you don't need any other weather apps (only maybe Windfinder if you are into sailing and need more wind details). Because the options are so detailed it would be nice to be able to have the live preview while configuring...

My home screen is now dominated by two meteograms. One for 2 days and I've got the next 5.looks good, works a treat and very configurable.

Since last update widget will not load after restart or turn off. Annoying. Still one off the best but not my default at the moment. Galaxy note 4 upto date.

Could be even more perfect if there was a tap field that opens a selectable weather app to check more details. Location selection of short and long term widget could be linked - or if I could switch between short and long-term in the same widget, it would be very smart!

I cannot tell you how long I've looked for something like this, just a by-the-hour chart of temp and precipitation. The fact that it can do so much more, and with no ads, AND without permanently clogging up my status bar is wonderful.

The update time is always stack on 10:05. Other than that, a few things you might consider adding as options: 1. A wind speed scale on the right, next to direction, 2. Show the moon phase on the chart in night times, instead of a full moon, 3. A manual update button, 4. The ability for the chart to scale up when the size of the widget gets bigger.

Perfect including week forecast. Layout could be even better by using screen space more effectively.

Please make it perfect: 1. For better readability, add bold separator line between days, with day name (3 letters) .2. tap on right side of widget switches between short and long term views. 3. tap on left side opens configuration window. 4. tap on center of widget launches pre-configured URL or app. Very nice work anyway, thanks!

Love this widget and use it all the time. Could do with a key to explain the lines on graph are (maybe when you click) also a quick change to check out the weather for another location quickly.

As a weather enthusiast, running my own professional weather station I've tried many, many weather apps and widgets out there. This is truly one of the best! Keep up the good work and implement new functions and options further along.

Poorly designed. "Meteogram pro" by Cloud 3 Squared makes the best weather graph and it's cheaper.
