This has to be the best learning experience ever. Full immersion into language including spelling, sentences etc but done with easy understanding. Listening to 'locals' really let's you hear the true and accurate pronunciation and makes the understanding and sound of the language much clearer. You will learn words and sentences that you will actually use everyday. Have tried many others and this is simply the best. A big 'thank you' to Memrise for making learning a language easy and enjoyable.

apk I've used this app for about two years now, and I've been able to understand Japanese words and phrases pretty easily using this app (maybe a bit too easily). I also liked the space asthetic that it had. Even though some of the features like Grammarbot and the levelling up stuff serves no real purpose, I still liked how friendly it looked. I am extremely saddened by this new update, though. Learning may be a bit more challenging now, but it's so much harder to look at. There is no charm anymore.

  3. Josh-avatar

pro apk I use this app to learn vocabulary. I've tried lots of apps and methods over the years and this is the best method of learning vocabulary quickly I've found. As a teacher, I know it's rooted in educational psychology with the regular retrieval aspect. I don't use this app on its own but on combination with other methods eg Michel Thomas in order to learn grammar but, as I said, for vocab it's excellent. I've used it since it first came out and it has only improved over time. Worth the sub too!

apk download Great variation in real world, idiomatic language exercises, fun, and good progression. The only frustration is in the pronunciation exercises -- I'm fairly certain what I'm saying is indistinguishable from the recording that I'm imitating, and I'm definitely enunciating more than some of the native speakers in the videos, but some pronunciation items are impossible to pass.

  5. Maria R-avatar

app It's a great app because of the videos and when it allows you to pronounce words and type them, but my problem is that I am using the free version and I am only able to learn 30 words from each unit. A friend of mine has the free version and says he doesn't have this problem. Could you help me?

  6. Michael Collins-avatar

    Michael Collins

download Great app, I just wish you could combine lessons into one unit. You have to manually navigate into each lesson to learn, and with 7 language levels, it gets quite tedious--especially if you plan on learning more than one language! They should add a feature to practice multiple lessons at once, or at least a button that starts a review session for all words that require review, regardless of level!

  7. Monty Montgomery-avatar

    - spanish french I have used both the paid and free versions. The content that is developed by Memrise is quite good, though there is some content that is user developed and some of that is not quite as good. You can go between the app and online versions, though the app does not always refresh the streak, the online keeps up between the two. Additionally, the online version does not include hints like the app and the input is different.

  8. egg friend-avatar

mod apk Seemed promising at first, and I actually preferred it to Duolingo for about a day or two before it told me that I had to pay to unlock the full course. The full course seems free on the website, but not the app. Super disappointed by the paywall, since I'd heard good reviews from YouTubers and was really interested in learning a new language. Should have read the reviews before installing, at least I've learned like 12 words in Russian before deleting.

  9. Justin Phipps-avatar

itunes Hands down best language app. Why? So many reasons. It's actual native speakers (in their country) giving you phrases or words in a context you would see in real live. It sticks. The app is very easy to use and the interface is well designed. Where other apps tend to get boring and you feel like you are not making progress, this feels different. Not sure how advanced it gets(yet) but I recommend this app highly. The creators put great effort into this app. I want to learn all the languages.

  10. Russell Chewning-avatar

    Russell Chewning

app store Updated with grammar lessons in-app, which is getting Memrise closer to completely replacing the need for Duolingo and it's weird, funky sentences. Plus, Memrise focuses on quickly expanding your vocabulary, as opposed to the slog that is Duolingo. (All that being said... -4 stars for STILL not providing the ability to to move the app and it's downloaded courses to SD card)

  11. Natalie Tuckwell-avatar

    Natalie Tuckwell

I love this app, even the free version is very rewarding to use. The colours and graphics make it visually pleasing. It has sound for pronunciation help, and the quick revision cycles enable you to "dip into" it even if you only have a few minutes spare. I've returned to this again and again, despite trying other apps.

I wish you could permanently toggle to use system keyboard, it's weird when the hiragana are in the wrong order. Or the kanji are given for you, it's easier for me to use the system keyboard. Feel free to Bury the option in the full settings if you wish, but I would love this option (I'm already premium member) The natives make me laugh, they are funny to watch and it helps break up the boredom.

  13. PryingGiraffe00-avatar

Its good for learning a language, I can recommend using it. It teaches you some greetings first the yes and no first while also some letters as well at the beginning. It also helps with pronunciation, by having to speak the language to pass.

  14. Tiasunep Yaden-avatar

    Tiasunep Yaden

It's nice and super easy to learn. It also shows us the expression of the words and how to use them through short and fun clips, they also have literal translation, reviews and everything. I really recommend this app. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜‡

I've just started a trial for 7 days. I've used this app for a long time with free plan. Currently, I've "400 Words of TOEFL" on my course, I'd like to start another course but I cannot find any way for me to select a new English course. When I click on the "Learn another course" button, there is no English language to choose. I believe this is a serious defect.

  16. Jada-avatar

Wow I haven't been on this app in over a year and it's dramatically improved! The UI, the latin languages have more free features...honestly I'm so impressed. I was an early user (through a college class homework requirement) and it's great to see the growth.

  17. Daniel Keyser-avatar

    Daniel Keyser

Overall great app! In an earlier review I criticized their Japanese course, but it turns out there are many different courses to choose from, even for the same language. Beyond pure basics, I highly recommend using the scripted courses -- the ones using the Western alphabet (Romanji) do weird and inconsistent things with spaces that are more specific to the app than the language itself. That said, the other courses I've tried (5 so far) have been quite quite good!

  18. Abirami Muthumani-avatar

    Abirami Muthumani

This is the best app I've come across for learning languages. I personally find this app very very user friendly. The content is really good overall it's very intuitive. And I love how there are recordings of locals that help you learn the pronounciation. Not everyone has friends who speak different languages or can afford classes. So I specifically love this feature.

  19. Abolfazl P-avatar

A while ago i had this review for Memrise "I hate the new update, it's hard to find your courses, i've been using Memrise for a long time and i think i have over 300 courses and it was easier for me to find my courses in last design, now it's just not good, you can't even read your full course name" the Memrise team replied and actually fixed the bug, now i love the design! Totally worth downloading.

  20. Tanya Bajwa-avatar

    Tanya Bajwa

It has a distinct feature like you know how other apps just start telling you words.. Like match the pairs n all but how are we supposed to do that when we don't know anything abt that language. Whereas in this app what I liked the most was that they started from the basic, like from letters... How "a" Is written in Korean language, how it's pronounced, after teaching all the letters then they go towards sentences that too easy ones. And this function makes the app very preferred app.

  21. Ellie Maung-avatar

    Ellie Maung

This app is really good! I have been using for 3 years now and have been learning spanish and Italian. Great for beginners! They have a pronounciation feature where you can practice speaking. I found it really easy to start leaning italian when I knew nothing. At least I can start a conversation if I go there some day. 10/10 recommend:D

  22. Naseem Malik-avatar

    Naseem Malik

Great app, the different language "tests" make for a diverse learning experience. The app works quite smooth with audio and video clips. I think if you're trying to really learn a language the pro version might be a good option, yet I'm mostly using it to try and get a basic level so I could understand some languages a bit better. The prompts for the pro app I found to be a little annoying, though sometimes trying a pro feature makes for a nice change in the use of the app.

  23. Ari Torres-avatar

    Ari Torres

I would like it if the review option were more cumulative like the website, and a bit more organized under specific (language/subject) categories instead of having to scroll through a whole list, especially for those that follow many courses.

  24. Joel Cabezas Morales-avatar

    Joel Cabezas Morales

4/28: This is such a great app but the fact that the Learn Grammar doesn't have the same replayability to review and relearn is just about the only reason I don't give this a solid 5 star rating. That and, even though I have the latest update, this new Immerse feature that has been advertised every time I log back in isn't popping up.

  25. Alexander Manzutto-avatar

    Alexander Manzutto

Although I'm not a paying member, the platform is awesome and I am ready to really learn some main languages with the help of this app. It doesn't feel monotonous or childlike with some other apps. Seeing people's mouths move (the native speakers recorded) is also extremely helpful for me.

  26. sophia k-avatar

definitely one of the best language learning apps! i used it a couple years ago but stopped for a while because i didn't get time and i was learning the languages at school anyway, but i decided to redownload and it had all my previous progress saved which was great. the way which it gets you to remember words is by far the best of the apps i've tried and is very good on the listening front. it would be amazing if you could also learn greek but i understand it is a bit different .

  27. Samson Osinnowo-avatar

    Samson Osinnowo

I'm a complete beginner and I have found this to be the best for me from all other apps. Learning a new word is easy but memorizing it is the hardest part. I've never been good at languages but I'm giving this a try and I am on a 15 day streak learning 15 new words a day. Ill update in how I do in one year!

  28. Manuel Van Balen-avatar

Everyone beware. Most apps that have a free trial period won't charge you until the end of your free trial. I was charged as soon as I started my free trial. Then contacted the team about getting a refund and no one contacted me back. Hate to give a one star review as the content of the app does not deserve it, but dodgy charging policies are not ok.

  29. Olaposi Olatoregun-avatar

    Olaposi Olatoregun

Great app.. Good for improving your english. The only shortcoming is that there are no examples of the words usage in a sentence.. the "help me learn this" section is not very helpful in my opinion.. It should be replaced with an example of a sentence in which the word was used and a picture reinforcing it... 3 stars until you update this.. then I will increase to 5 stars..

Really nice app. ๐Ÿ…ฑโš“๐Ÿ’ฒ Army must try this app . It really helps to memorize words&phrases very well. It's a good app. Better than Duolingo because they make it easy to make flash cards but worse in the that you can't click on a specific word in a phrase and when you get further in they start introducing new words together in phrases with old word but they don't let you click on a specific word in a phrase to hear it and they say the phrase very fast which is frustrating when you have no idea how to say the word

this app is very good for learning new languages you never learned, everytime you forget something. you go to the three dots and it gives you options on what you wanna do with the new letters or words you wanna review or memorize them constantly. honestly, its really good :D

I really loved that i can make my own flash cards and also the ability to add audio ..this really helps... but really i want them to let us add videos to flash cards i believe it will be more fun...and also i want to make more questions for some flash cards....and the images that i added on my computer show just on my computer and my iPad...they don't show in my android phone..... but i really liked the app and it making learning languages easier. thanks

I have been using memrise since high school during GCSE'S, and this is app they introduced a little while back/ a few years back is very helpful and a great way to learn, like I would on a computer, except I'm learning things on the app now too. This is very helpful in my language studies and offers a wide selection of languages to choose from.

  35. Eli Howie-avatar

    Eli Howie

Really great app but: 1. All the mems have disappeared for the main language courses (the main thing that actually set this app apart from all the others) 2. Something which will improve this app massively is to include the translation along with EVERY answer e.g. When tapping on the matching target language square to the audio. I understand they're listening practice tiles but sometimes it's like I've achieved nothing but than matching sounds to written text. Won't hurt to show translations

  36. John Reed-avatar

Still no grammar on courses. I have cancelled my subscription as this is only a simple flashcard system now. The old memorise courses were way better, they at least provided explanations regarding grammar. Update: After uninstalling and reinstalling, grammar is still missing. No longer using the application as without explanations, it's just another flashcard app.

I have struggled with learning the Hebrew characters for quite some time now. The way letters are shown and reviewed, I had them down in less than a week with retention! I have not upgraded yet, but may give that a try!

Its a very good app to learn a language so quick. I wanted to learn japanese; with this app, i just learnt like 17 words and 8 sentences within an hour. This app teaches you the way you remember. Is very useful for me and one of the best apps i've ever used. Thank you MEMRISE!

  39. Elisha John-avatar

This is true review. I am user ffor the past one month and I'm telling you this app is the best app to learn a new language it gives you a really coverage of the language. That is each pronunciation spelling and with what emotion they tell that particular word. I feel no other app can teach as better as MEMRISE. If you be consistent you will surely improve in that language you want to learn ๐Ÿ˜‰.Till now no complaints about the app but afterthis review maybeor maybe not the app mayface prob! Gdapp

Fabulous language app and I love the design, the platform and material. I use it to compliment on top of my language class and books. Only reason I'm cancelling my subscription is because the price is double, after the first year. And I live in a low income European country. But it's definitely worth it if you can afford the premium fees.

  41. Oooh Watchasay-avatar

I'm unable to cancel my pro membership despite cancelling it before the 7 day trial had ended. I had to cancel it due to personal reasons not because of the app which is actually really good for a beginner. My next date to pay is apparently on 2021. I have screenshots to prove that my subscription was supposed to cancel on 2nd May 2020.

It is a great app for begginers. I am mostly learning Spanish, but from what I can tell, its a pretty awesome app. You can get this for free, but it tries to get you into buying it. Overall, It is a great app and I try to use it everyday. It has taught me a lot. :)

  43. Kishori Patra-avatar

Good experience so far, but you should stop putting up the paywall after every exercise. It's a hindrance to the free users. Maybe tone it down a bit?

  44. Jeannel Mah-avatar

    Jeannel Mah

The app seems ok. Just wanted to state that instead of a subscription model maybe you could charge one time fees. I'd rather pay a higher 1 time fee for a specific language course than a subscription because of my busy schedule I might be unable to commit the time to make it worth it.

  45. Jasmine Alvarado-Salinas-avatar

    Jasmine Alvarado-Salinas

Barely started using this because someone recommended it to me. It's a lot better than Duoling for learning Korean. Although you are very limited in what you can do on the unpaid subscription. I can't afford it and honestly might just find free online workbook pages to get me through learning the language.

  46. Alex-avatar

Mostly fun, has a game like quality to it. I'm not good at memorizing and then retaining so I might still need a textbook to supplement, but for those who work well with gaming aspects of apps like this, its perfect. I really enjoy it

When I had started using this app in year 2015-2016 it was providing a lot of courses in the app itself but I don't know had they completely stopped working on the app and got themselves towards the website oriented, you can clearly see the difference of courses offered in the website and the courses offered in the app. Neither your subscription is worth taking because local talk cannot be accessed by me only benefit I have got is the using of difficult word through the subscription.

This app use to be perfect. I have a life package and for the past 3 months, the app keeps crashing. I learn a word press it and the next one appears after a minute or not at all. Try your best to fix it.

It's a great app. I have it for 2 years and never thought to uninstall. The only flaw is that it has no grammar lessons, but it is a great app 'cause it is free and can use all the features. It's great to be able to learn more than one language for free.

I believe the left out star is because of the questions that are in video only, I would've suggest they're in both visual and audio like it is for the teaching of the new phrases. Anything else from this is cool and wonderful.

My Pro subscription ends within a few days, will all the courses i have already passed be deleted and i won't be able to go through them again? The app is amazing except the fact it doesn't go up gradually especially in German, it teaches words for the B2 level when you still in A2

I really liked the app, but there are changing the UI all the time. That sometimes makes it hard too find stuff. Now I can't even see the language of my courses in the overview and that really sucks.

I've been using Duolingo for a couple of years and learned about Memrise by searching for French learning challenges on Pinterest. I wanted to try something new and I've really enjoyed it so far. The main difference I see is that memrise teaches users how to speak like a local.

The updated UI makes it really hard to keep track of the rocket ship streak indicator, so I have to check very carefully to make sure my streaks are all safe every day. EDIT: Being a user of some seven years, you should really be asking people like me. I didn't even receive a survey.

The only app I know that uses sample videos of people saying phrases in the target language. Feels like I'm meeting people from that culture and learning directly from listening to them. Keep it up!

I commend the developer. This app is so go good, effective and has the basic feature a beginner would look out for.....I would have rate it a 5 star but due to the subscription fee. Cos not everyone can afford it.

It's really hard to for me to remember things so I give up pretty fast when wanting to learn something new. This app is very interactive and has a variety of ways to keep you focused. I'm having a lot of fun and actually remembering words and spelling!!!!

I feel that the teaching technique of memrise is effective and entertaining, but: - They should make it possible to learn languages taught in English without having to change the phone's language to English - In German 1, they teach uncommon words like "secret tip" and "spicy" without teaching more commonly used words like fruits and househols objects, that are usually taught in the beginning of any typical language course. - Their premium should have more useful features.

I've been using this app for at least two years. It's been more colorful but they've changed it to make it more simple I guess. I personaly liked old design more than what we have at the moment. Hope they would change design something more fun in the future...

Really great app! If you want to go travel another country it's great way to quickly learn important words and phrases. But you can even go further than that and learn the language properly.

This a good app which helps to learn pronounciation as well. It keeps on repeating the words so that we can memorise it fast. All in all, its a good app to learn basics of different languages.

It's very useful application. There are courses not only to learn languages but for economic, biology, business, sailing and etc. I recommend it for all.

I love that when learning languages that have different alphabets, instead of throwing you into basic words immediately, they teach you letters and sounds! Would recommend!

Learning Japanese. It takes an approach that leaves me feeling accomplished and like I'm moving along at a nice pace. It tests your learning and reinforces your weaknesses. You can even set goals and it will track them for you. Great so far at a low level.

Sometimes the app glitches and doesnt show the Kanji for new words and plays double audio (Japanese), and there are a few English mistakes, but overall excellent, as far as learning methods go.

Learning Polish. This app helps learn words & phrases. It really breaks down each phrase, teaching you what each word means. Then it'll put it all together to help you form the sentence. It includes literal translations & equal meanings. I have 3 apps to help me learn (speaking, grammar, vocab) & this is in my top 3!

An amazing app for language learning. It has just been few days and I learned surely enough. I would like to take a moment for their app- one of the best app I've ever used.Plus it also offers to talk to the locals- a fine practice for revision.

App contains nice recordings from native speakers. It's very good to supplement learning french. So far I've no problem with free version but premium price is worth the content. I would love however to buy the app instead of paying recurring fees.

Excellent app. Although the iOS version has more features (I discovered when I swapped phone) it works really well, I would prefer to have practice with speaking like I do in Busuu and Duolingo More facility to interact with other users would be great too!

I signed up for the one week free trial. It expires tonight at midnight. I truly want to keep learning with Memrise because there is a lot that's great about it. However, I have decided it isn't worth it for the following reasons: - There is no way to contact MemRise to ask a question or make a suggestion - I wish there was a way to slow down the actors speaking. The actor's are wonderful, but there is only one version of the phrase they are speaking: FAST
