I think this is a good learning app but I'm uninstalling simply because it doesn't have sound settings. I'm honestly really surprised. I like to listen to other things and only hear the word pronunciations when I'm learning. But there is simply no setting to disable music or sound effects. Really disappointing. edit: Apparently sound settings are hidden in the "shrine menu;" they honestly should be in the cogwheel menu.

As a musician & creative person myself, I love this app, because it makes learning japanese to be so much more fun, creative, & imaginative. The drawings are also very nice. You'll definitely love this app especially if you're familiar or like to watch anime, read manga, & basically already familiar with the japanese pop-culture. Just one question though: is this app also available on PC/computer? For example, on my Windows 7 computer/PC at home?

Fantastic experience. Calm visuals and varied repetition of grammar prevents you from being overwhelmed, as does the "limited gameplay" (not overwhelmed by 300 different features). The only issue that I found was that I had no idea how to make a small つ without the Japanese keyboard. For 1 learning challenge I had to spell a word but couldn't use the Japanese keyboard to shrink the つ that I had typed, so a memo on the different ways that's possible would be helpful (double tap T).

This app has got me the closest to learning Japanese than anything else. I've never had a problem with it until I tried to do the Money lessons. For some reason when I type じゆう for 10 it is counted wrong even if I use a hint it still shows that im right but claims that it is wrong. It isn't asking me to type the Kanji version because it wants me to translate the Kanji form into Hiragana. I really want to continue to use this app but if I blocks me from progressing I will have to find a new one.

I honestly think that this app is wonderful! Maybe I just love Japanese everything, but I've learned so much. The app is really beginner-friendly. The games where you can test your knowledge are very cool too. I love anime, so the graphics are 5 stars. I don't know anything bad about this app. I think this app is very helpful!

Its pretty good from what I see. Personally I'd like the option to mute the music though. I think the repetition aspect is good for learning a language, and maybe this gets added later, but I'd also like the ability to draw the symbols as well. Thats more in the anticipation of kanji being introduced.

I love this app because other Japanese learning apps dosn't have that encouragement that this app has it sets weekly goal give you gift amd play mini games that all improve you learning Japanese. It even helps you learn how to write and ask how acurate it is compared to the actual typed ones. It's a really good app. I highly recommend the if you like anime or if you trying to learn what the lyrics mean to music lmao. You can always go back to old lesson if you need to for refreshes! <3 the app!!

Brutal game, the way they teach you, they just throw you in the fire and you gotta figure it out. Cute anime girls, ur typical slice of life, but yeah spent almost an hour trying to beat some games. They also need sound to many of their games, that way we know how it sounds from kanji to word or letter, other than that yeah. Needs more tlc 😭

I love this app so much. I totally recommend it but one flaw is the voice and pronunciation of the person who speaks. I find it hard to understand her. That's the only problem so either way it's still a great app.

This game was really helpful, until I got to the section where it stopped loading. I tried to contact the support about it, but they weren't very helpful. I was really finding it very useful before that too...

There are a lot of language learning apps out there and I find this one to be a charming change of pace. The lessons are more challenging than some other apps I've used and I like that about it.

The UI of app is very user friendly. U can easily understand things also. The also a bit of story to play in the start of the game. My most favourite is they even motivate you to play with a bit of rewards so you won't forget to play. I personally think is the best app out there to start learning Japanese.

The method of learning is definitely engaging but the pace of a lesson is a bit too slow, maybe because I'm more used to Duolingo but the lessons really are time consuming

Really good and teaches proper grammar etc. Although, having the narrator state the character and having the romanji instead of the japanese character is weird.

So far so good. No obstractive ads and the app works well with my intermittent internet connection. Finally got level 1 on every lesson. Took me 9 days though. ドイツ人はあたまがいいな!

It is indeed a learning app...... not just that, there is also fun games that still teaches you...... unexpectedly, there is an storyline and it really fits well to the game. Feels like I'm playing dating simulation game while learning. Its not that perfect but i could say that it's beyond satisfactory, thanks to the dating SIM like feeling and the relaxed Atmosphere of the game. Ironically, the ads is what makes other players the game even without top ups. In short, THIS IS A GOOD GAME.

KawaiiNohongo is a great way to get started on learning Japanese. Now, the downfall is that its difficult to learn the words. I find it troublesome to try to remember the words and phrases even with the pictures. Maybe a bit more of audio would work. That's all that's bad about the game, though. The rest of it is amazing-- and adorable might I add. Whoever drew the images are great artists and the little story is really cute. 9.5\10 would reccomend.

This app is amazing I can tell that the developers really put their heart into making an app for learning Japanese that is both fun and has depth. Most apps don't really help you memorize like Duolingo or Rosetta Stone. This app actually let's you write hiragana, katakana, and kanji so you don't forget. It also gives you an option to have ads or not, unlike other apps like Duolingo that force ads, which actually made me want to turn on ads(which I did) to help the developers.

I find it genius that you expressed this in the form of a game. It made me want to keep opening the app and treat it as a fun game rather than a chore. While I was in wrapped in the storyline, I almost forgot I went into the game trying to learn Japanese.

Its sooo helpful! The images help a TON xD It helps me remember, but some of them are kinda questionable, like one pic shows her in a dressing room, pulling off her clothes, and one shows her and this other girl with very showing bathing suits owo I love how it asks you "do you know this (blank) so if you don't remember right away, it'll show you the answer and it won't count as a loss uwu I totally suggest this and doulingo uwu

Flash cards are easily understood and the pronunciations and writing really help with memorizing the characters. Does not have a lot of kanji character cards that are necessary for learning, however the app is still uploading more lessons so it could improve on this in the future.

I highly recommend this app for learning Japanese. This teaches the most well known words, and makes it fun! Just realize this is for learning written Japanese. Spoken Japanese should also be studied using other tools, like 'That Japanese Man Yuta.' When used together, the lessons are even more useful!

I give this a five start it keeps you pretty entertained and makes the learning fun just hope they will add more fun games to help for spelling wise and also I think they should add parts in the card testing where instead of choosing the romanji for the sound giving the hirigana option instead I feel it will help more to connect the two in the learning prosses over all though I love it and the subscription if you want it is a super reasonable price I find

Best japanese language app ever. Good pictures for photographic memory and you can tell that the aim of the app is to benefit the user as they recieve less add revenue compared to most joke apps that are filled with ads. They also have a charcater that motivates you to learn which is supportive and have schemes in the app that helps you to digest the language. 10/10.

Okay, I've gained a better understanding of how this app works. The alphabet cards at the beginning had really overwhelmed me, so I didn't realize that they were alphabets (I thought they were conjugations). But now that I know that this app was capable of teaching the construction of Japanese sentences, I got excited to learn. I'm not a big fan of the tutorial, but I admire the implementation of visuals, pronunciations, and handwriting correction. I wonder if other Japanese apps are like this?

This is a great app for learning Japanese, and it is genuinely free. Unfortunately, there are a few (very minor) problems. Firstly, it would be nice to have a study mode where you can choose what you have learned and have them be some sort of flash card. Second, it would be nice if it told us if it was Keigo or non-keigo speech. Do those two gripes make this a bad app? Absolutely not. It's a great app worth downloading with an active dev team. Good job, you guys. Thanks for such an awesome app♡

Duo lingo is great for learning vocabulary quickly, but is quite overbearing. KawaiiNihongo is much more friendly with its teaching speed, and does a phenomenal job of teaching grammar with the vocab. This app has helped me with realistic sentence building more than anything else I've tried. Just finished the last lesson today, and I'm really looking forward to the new ones.

I've only just started using the app, but so far it seems very useful for anyone who wants to learn Japanese are an absolute beginner. The best part it is completely free with the option to subscribe (very cheap) if you want to support the developer and unlock a few features such as removing adverts (with some exceptions) The adds aren't that bad or too intrusive. You should definitely give the app a try.

Pretty good way of repetition. The app is typically broken up into learn and review in series of 3 for your first time in a lesson. Then after that it goes into mixed reviews. The multiple methods of learning options (spoken, written, match, etc) can make it a little less repetitive. It's always great to nail a section with no mistakes. I've been using it in conjunction with my course work just to keep me fresh on what hiragana is what.

I love this app to bits I really do! But there are a couple of things that irks me, there are some words that you learn but they never say how to pronounce them, now I'm learning time, but I only learned o'clock and 30 and now suddenly it's throwing 10:21 pm and saying a thing telling me to translate it and I actually started crying because I got so frustrated because I didn't learn that much.

Amazing and fun! The lessons are quick, well layed out, and use both pictures and audio to help you learn. The arcade area has a game called Nihongo Dash that I played for fun, but I noticed it has really helped my reading speed. A lot of apps lock later lessons that you have to pay for, this is not one. It allows you to choose to support the devs by watching ads and still having access to all lessons, or if you want, remove the ads for only like $1/month. Remember to revise previous lessons!

Really the only problem I have is that the Japanese keyboard doesn't have all of the letters that u need to answer so.e of the questions, so that makes me get the the question wrong. This game/app is really easy to understand and learn from, it's like your really in Japanese school! It has a calendar of the month your in and the days with the total experience you gained, and goals of how much experience you should earn each day and week! It has these levels that has about two or more stages/lessons, and most of it is like a memory game but it really helps you remember everything and teaches you how to write in Japanese! I give this five stars because it's amazing overall!

This is the best app I've used so far for learning Japanese! The little cards and memorable images help you understand and easily remember words and vocabulary, not to mention the adorable small memory games and challenges! This app is quite fun, and the way it reaches you is way more fun! Download it, YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED! If you have another Japanese learning app, make it your second! This one if way more fun and exciting and helps you feel determined to finish more and more lessons!

Probablt the best app for learning Japanese I've come across. I really like how you get the option to view explanations of new concepts when they're introduced. probably the best japanese learning app, it teaches you in a way that helps you memorize by showing you pictures and makes it more fun to learn, its like a game that tricks you into learning and does it well, there are even arcade minigames for learning, I recommend trying this out over any other app, if you finish and there are still things you dont know try apps thatspecifically teach you the things you dont know like kanji, Im not done with the app but im not 100% sure if it teaches all kanji

Pacing so far had been great! Only really knew hiragana and some simple words starting out. The app has help quite a bit with grammer and how to form proper sentances for me. Like that I can relate the words with the text, sound and picture. Can also turn images off if you wish. The free version isnt bad at all. There are ads at the end of lessons but does not ever interupt a session. Overall a great free app for learning so far.

This is a fun app, and my only problem with it is that every once and a while I can tell it was originally written for Germans to learn Japanese. The second grammar lesson had tastes for an English sentence when it should have been just taste, but other than that I like it very much. Edit:I somehow lost all the Mardu Coins for a free subscription when i was within 200 of getting all I needed.

This has been a pretty useful app for me. I have been learning with this app for a while. Although there are a few things I would love to see in this app.--------------------------------------------- 1. More writing assignments I think would do wonders for people trying to learn to read and write better.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. I think a section completely dedicated to vocabulary would be great as well. I find myself making flash cards often, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I can't carry those around with me all the time like I can my phone.----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Individualized classes based off a weekly test to focus on words/topics we are haveing trouble with. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Also I do know about the individual lesson you can do but it only goes over pretty much the newest stuff which wouldn't be bad other than the fact of once you quit using the simple things like tsuyoi, and mazui you're bound to forget them if you don't use them often. I remember alot of the vocab I have gone over but don't want to have to go through an entire lesson just to have some practice on the 2 words I need out of that lesson. This was the reason for me making the flash cards but ease of access IS want apps are all about and having flash cards forces me to train on vocab only when I am at home.------------------------------- Thank you for listening. I hope I could contribute to making this app even better!

I've been practicing for about a week and I can hold a conversation with my girlfriends dad really well although the app is good I think having people memorize the symbols for what each word means so people have to do more than memorize what each symbol stands for. Thanks for the great app highly recommend it if you're trying to learn a new language fast!

This was one of the greatest learning apps that I've ever tried and it's FREE. The only japanese learning apps that inclides grammar lessons are ones that you have to pay for. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in learning Japanese. I also love tha fact that you can skip hiragana if you allready know how to read and write it I think it's only appropriate for everyone who uses this app to support it by enabling full screen ads :))))))

Free Japanese learning app is what I really needed. Ads are not intrusive but watching it makes is like paying them for the service so watch some ads. One thing I don't like is the keyboard when it comes to writing Hiragana/Katana. I prefer pressing the key multiple times to get the hiragana I want than to slide it because it is much easier and faster.

I tried learning on duolingo and it worked, but it felt all over the place for me. This app streamlines and adds more to learning the language in the notes is has on the different alphabets. The artwork is adorable and helps me remember what I'm working with.

It's just not a great way to learn. I noticed in the first lesson that I'm remembering the hiragana because of the picture that comes with it not the actual symbol, so naturally I had a problem with it after trying to write them. Also I don't think it needs this weird story when the main focus is learning. The art sometimes doesn't add up with what they're saying, but it's really pretty. Overall... Just use dualingo if u want to actually learn Japanese, u don't need anime girl for it.

I'm still in the beginning phase, about 2 or 3 weeks into learning. There isnt a whole lot of explanation into what you're learning but it's easy to pick up. I flip between this app and duolingo. Both are almost the same app but both have strengths over each other. EDIT* Yeah, so, we're a couple months in and this app kicks butt over duolingo. I learn way more in a session on here then most other tools I've used, highkey this app is the one to download!

This app definitely works I started learning japanese just from the beginning exept I knew hiragana and katakana. It teaches all that just from the beginning and sentence formation, grammar and vocabulary Though I recommend you to learn kanji by radicals from other apps or book. This app also shows decent amount of adds and you can stop them but you don't get points which is OK and if you really want to learn don't fool the app it's sometimes easy to do so. Tried many but this is best

So far of all the kana-learning-app this has to be the best choice to learn.I rate this app 5 star while keeping in mind that nothing is perfect. I do believe that other app could be out there which are more or less as good. However this app is a "must try anyhow". If you leave this out you're missing out on a very good treasure.I'm still on the hirakana stage so i cannot give input on the katakana and kanji portion, yet going by the hiragana lessons i am confident all will be well.Happy learning!

I like the app, it's functional and pretty to look at... What I'm worried about is the efficacy of the teaching program. What I'm trying to say is: it probably won't replace a traditional course. I'm not qualified enough for judging how effective this is, so I think I'll just enjoy the app without having too great expectations...

Well, for starters, it's free! And it teaches you in a really engaging way so you stay interested and look forward to learning from the app once a day. There is a paid version, but it really is practically perfect without the paid extras. There are little to no ads, and it teaches you so much, from simple to hirigana all the way to vocabulary and grammar! Japanese being an SOV language makes it harder to learn, but this app breaks it up so you can understand it easily. Definitely worth trying.

I like how they have illustrations added that relate to the hiragana. An example being 'ge' with a drawing of an energetic (genki) girl. It helps me remember the words since I'm returning to learning Japanese. Very cool app, I'll check out the light novel one day!

Fun, Useful, Easy-to-use 5/5 rating I really recommend this for beginner. Especially those who aren't so good at memorizing. One thing that's the most important when learning is consistency, and this app gives you exactly that. In this app, there are challenges, daily mission, and all other stuff that makes you more consistent and determined in learning Japanese. Not only that, the most important aspect about this game is its visuals, it's very interesting to watch, it never makes you bored.

Very cute and interesting Japanese learning game! In fact, it's one I'd buy in a heartbeat if it had a reasonable pricing scheme, but I'd much rather pay a 1-time fee of even $20-$30 to unlock a game permanently (or micropayments to unlocks parts of it) than a subscription, even if it's just $1 per month. I really dislike subscription pricing plans. That said, playing for free isn't too bad. There aren't a lot of ads. I just wish I could monetarily support the app in a way I'm comfortable with.

Simple UI design, yet cute and effective for learning. From everything else that I've studied, this has been the most fun app-wise. It's also accurate, which some apps aren't. I'm very pleased with this learning app/game. I'm 27 and have been looking for accessible and user friendly tools from the time I was 13. I know loads of vocab, but have struggled with grammar, because of lack of interactive tools or other people.

Love it! I've been using KawaiiNihongo steadily for a year and a half. No complaints. Great support staff. They have answered every single message I ever sent to them. To be perfectly honest, I have found other excellent japanese learning apps as well but I can definitely say I love this the best. My primary learning app. Very dedicated dev team. Though my personal progress is slow, I have enough understanding to now communicate with an old friend. Excellent app. They have earned a loyal user.

The lessons themselves are very nice. They combine pictures, kana, translations and sound really well. I think it works a lot better than most apps. Also, at the start I was tested on my level, so I didn't have to grind through everything I already know. Finally, what I was most impressed with was the support. When I couldn't find an option, I wrote a message and it got answered immediately. In this age of automated reply chatbots, it was a breath of fresh air.

I can't recommend this enough. I downloaded it and like 10 other apps at the same time to try to learn Japanese. The resources and enthusiasm in this app are stunning. I've been using Duolingo for about 3 months now, but this has really solidified and explained a lot that I've already learned, as well as teaching me a lot more in a shorter time. And they don't ask for much for premium. I'm definitely loving this, its adorable, and I'm eager to recommend it to others. Thanks guys!!

This app makes learning fun and interesting! So far I have no negatives about this except for the memory game. If you have it on hard difficulty, you only get to see each card once, if you're lucky. The timer is fine, but when the animation to turn the cards is so long, it uses up more of your time than actually playing the memory game.....

I love this app. After using Duolingo, which is great in its own way, I was finding myself confused with the lesson structure. I've tried other apps that can be a bit intimidating for beginners. KawaiiNihongo is more laid back and fun. All free apps have ads but the ad times are very short and don't affect my flow of concentration. I have this app on all of my devices and it saves my progress, which allows me to do a quick lesson when I have time and I never have to worry about losing my place.

The app's setup is quite similar to a few language apps, but it goes beyond just teaching vocabulary and phrases to survive on. It teaches grammar so I actually understand what nuances I have to make when communicating in Japanese. I also appreciate that it provides details that other apps don't have (on/kun readings). The use of an in-game currency motivated me into learning more vocab and get myself a subscription by redeeming the coins I earned at the arcade and lessons.

I really love this app! Better than the book I was using. But I would give it 5 stars if there's a setting to mute the music and also the sfx of the parts in the lesson when you get a right or wrong, I just want to hear her pronounciation of the letters and words. Edit: Omg, tysm for telling me 5stars it is!! I should look around more, I totally didn't see the settings in the shrine, silly me (´-﹏-`;)

If you're the type of kid with a new Japan obsession looking for a really fun app rather than the boring and bleak courses, this is perfect for you! The minute I entered the app, I liked it. A lot. It's as much a game as a Japanese educational course. And it's much better than Duolingo and Lingodeer because it goes really easy and slow. I seldom give any app 5 stars because it's so hard to find one that's actually perfect... But I found an exception. This!

This app is AWESOME especially for those who love the art and style of speech towards this app! 100% recommend you use this app for people who also love foreign language ESPECIALLY Japanese - I can tell you - this is my absolute FAVE way to learn the art and method, not to mention pronunciation of Japanese words and letters! You don't even have to be a beginner! 😀😆😀😄😃!

This would have been a five star app, but for some reason, after a while of using it, the pronunciation of the words began to glitch. Is it just me, or have other people experienced the same thing? I really like this app otherwise, but since the sound is quite important in the app, I cannot give it 5 stars.

i love that it teaches you some kanji and vocabulary while teaching you grammar in a fun way. the illustrations are cute and the overall feel is like playing otome/vn. i will definitely try kawaiiDungeon in the future.

I love this application so much! I love how it helps me learn Japanese with more understanding. The only thing that annoys me is that the energy decreases everytime I answer a false answer in new lessons. It suppose to be deducted if I get a wrong answer in those lessons that I have taken. Other than that, I really love this thing 😍😍

Perfect app, this app has helped me learn the pronunciation of different words and syllables, I would reccommend this for beginners to the Japanese language, it doesn't force ads on you, plus fun minigames at the arcade area, plus the character helps you when you miss a question, and encourages you to keep trying if you make mistakes, when riko ran out of energy when I missed too many questions, the next day I completed the lesson with almost no mistakes, download this, you won't regret it

A great app to start learning Japanese! When I decided to try learning Japanese, I downloaded a bunch of apps and this app helped me the best. I easily memorized the kana and even learned how to draw it. The vocabularies and grammar afterwards were also easy to understand. I didn't need to search in google how it works because it is nicely explained. However, if you are a fast learner or have previous knowledge, you might not want this because this app helps you learn Japanese slowly but surely!

Love this app. I had been taking Japanese in University before dropping out due to illness, and this app is not only helping me remember everything I learned, its teaching me new stuff every day! When I go back to Japan, I cant wait to surprise my Japanese friends. I will be buying the full version when I can afford it, and recommending this app to friends and family. The free version is great! Cant wait to try the full version.
