Game is great and fun in my opinion. You dont need to spend money to win, the only thing money buys you in this game is a little time but no power ups or characters. The only reason i cant give it 5 stars, the rivers are a NIGHTMARE. When you start you are in your respective territory and plenty of room for expansion. However once you start building and want explore the world it is extremely difficult to get across the rivers that surround your territory like a pleague. "The way is shut"

I've played this since release, looking for a reason to continue with it, and finally gave up a few days ago. The primary problem with this game is that it is boring. Take a few tiles, wait forever for your commanders to get their stamina back, then rinse and repeat. That's about it for the gameplay. There is no sense of adventure in the game and the source material is wasted as a paste-on theme. Just good read the books again or watch the movies if you want an LotR experience.

So far so good. I was expecting a lot more P2W than it is. I've paid about $6 and have set myself up to be in the top 20% of my fellowship without having to spend a ton of $$ to speed things up. If you play right, pay a couple bucks to support the devs, you can still do quite well without spending $400/month like someone else I know... Don't be dumb or impatient and you can still enjoy everything.

It's disappointing how quickly this devolves into an onslaught of endless grinding, as there isn't much to represent The Lord of the Rings in the way of games, but there was almost no gameplay to speak of anyways given that the only hands on aspect is resource management. If you're looking for something with a lotr aesthetic then it's here, kind of, but if you're looking for something entertaining to kill time, this isn't it chief.

I am hesitant to recommend this game to most people. The season pass (even if you purchase it) bears nothing interesting. Red Book story missions have zero player engagement, you cannot interact during those battles, only watch and do nothing for 10 minutes straight. Gameplay relies too heavily on the basis that your faction is coordinated enough. A faction mostly consisting of players who have moved on from this game will help doom you. Graphics are good, commanders and items are very earnable.

Game relies too heavily on other players coordinating, which is bloody impossible. My faction was filled with AFK so when we got wiped out by an active faction, I had no reason to play. Have been just waiting for weeks for server reset. "Playing" the game has no purpose, realistically, considering any kind of world map participation is only useful for completing server goals. Which we have no hope of achieving. We'll never get back our capital, nor take Dol Goldur

Less pay to win than other games of this type which is nice. The game lacks any major content. Basically no unique events, mostly looping the same 4 easy, boring events that have no competitive/cooperative aspect. No faction or fellowship events. Completed all the main buildings and got majority of troops I want in a month f2p, full resources with nothing to buy. Only thing left is pvp, which is ok but unhealthy and many on losing sides have quit. Entire server is just waiting for next season.

Although they advise this game like you can play 9 factions they all are actually basically the same across the bored really. The campaign isn't set for your specific faction either so for example if you chose mordor the campaign you play will still have you swapping from good and evil. No direct evil or good campaign so that's a big let down. It's not a terrible game but in my opinion it falls short of its full potential. Definitely falls short of any previous lotr trilogy games.

Enjoying the Game, like most of these games you will have players on any servers spending thousands to get what they want quickly, it does make it harder for free to play players but you will get there it just takes a lot longer, many have said about the stamina system, but I think this is a good thing since it makes you think about where you want to move and stops the powerful players being all over the map constantly. But it does need more, Arena army match ups perhaps? More Random events ?

Long time lotr fan, this game is utter garbage and does a disservice for the franchise. Not only are ALL advertisements for the game completely false in terms of all aspects of game play. Speaking of which, there is no gameplay... click, build, click, upgrade, click army over there. No visuals no battles nothing exciting or enjoyable. Just a poor excuse for another pay to win click and build sim only skinned to resemble "middle earth".
