Reviews From google play store

I can't watch any community edition videos on the mobile app. It seems to be account related because I've tried both WiFi and 4G on two different devices. On my phone (oneplus 7 pro) when I choose a free course, it loads the page without ever finishing and on my ipad pro (2015) the app crashes when I try to pick a course. When I try to send a mail through the app it gives me an error that it failed to send.

1- Downloaded videos doesn't play when offline. 2- App keeps up showing in the status bar of the mobile despite not being played. This does not closes despite cancelling from cross button. 3- Overall application experience is not good as a person will expect after paying huge amount for the subscription.

Issues with latest version (seen when casting to TV). 1. Unable to "mark as complete" after clicking tick button. 2. Unable to play specific (lets say last) video in section. It briefly goes thru all other videos in section before finally playing the one you selected (takes atleast 2mins). 3. Unable to disconnect from TV casting even after hitting "Disconnect" button or closing the app. 4. Can we have autoplay feature, instead of having to manually select next video in list?

Great content, buggy inconsistent app that is currently playing in the background despite my attempts to close it. Also clicking complete upon a course item only seems to work a few times before it just spins the loading wheel and doesn't complete. I appreciate some people don't do this but I found it necessary to mark areas of study I was already familiar with.

Very buggy on Bluetooth Devs: I use the app to listen to videos on the way to work. I switch out to Waze and keep this in the background. List of bugs: - load a track, switch to Waze and the track stops. Switch back, start again and it's ok - autoplay is broken. Playback stops - after a track is done, clicking on the next video doesn't refresh the video/play button. So if I hit play the same video just starts over. I have to kill the app to get to the next video. 👎

EDITED REVIEW: The issues I had with the app were purely user error - I didn't find the video persistence or picture in picture options before I posted my review. That's a hearty self-RTFM to me! The only niggle I have at this point is the difficulty in searching for courses in Android - I think that's not a huge issue, as Android is where I consume content on the go, not necessarily where I go to search for my next course of learning path. Thank you to LA for their responsiveness!

App keeps crashing after returning back. (edit) last update solved the issue. Another issue remains is it doesn't play and stops when the screen is off and Bluetooth headfone start stop playback buttons are not supported. Hence, 4 stars.

Video playback got worse. After 1 or 2 videos the app doesn't autoplay the next video but just hangs, doesn't even mark the current video as complete. Only solution is to restart the app select the course again and play the video again.

Great content but can you fix search box? right now when I type 2 words like "gcp security" it looks for exact string "gcp security". Webpage searchbox works better

I am using android smartphone and trying free content option. None of the course syllabus are opening and it just keep circling. Internet connection is good and tested with WiFi as well. Is there any setting required in app?

Good app if you are taking any training by yourself, but there is no way to track your assigned Learning Paths.

App is much stable now than it was before. Could we have the feature to add new flash card while watching video please?

Unable to maximize video in current version of app

Autoplay is not working while casting even after doing the video settings

The quiz is not working after today's update. Please fix it.

cant login to app, cant send error report. garbage

So far have terrible experience: 1. Screen goes off while watching the vidoes, like my phone thinks nothing is happening. 2. When I mark a video as completed it doesn't set. It only works when I log in from desktop browser. 3. When I start a new course on mobile app the system does not notice it at all, meaning when I reopen the app I have to go back and search for the course again... I think you got good content here but using your apps just feels like pulling teeth. Go watch Udemy how it works

Love the content here. Keep up the awesome work!

This could be so good. It has casting and autoplay built in which makes watching 44 hours of 10 minute videos much easier. Unfortunately it never works. I have to turn cast off after every video then wait minutes before i can cast it again. This makes a 10 minute video about 15 minutes in total. Additionally, the downloaded videos take about 3 minutes to start to play. I cant understand why that wouldn't be instant.

Good content but bad app. Until recently the app used to work reasonably well on Android TV and after the latest update the app has stopped working on android TV. With the chromecast experience still being extremely basic, I have no choice but to only consume the content on smaller screens.

Good but could use improvement. Recently the auto play will simply repeat the current video. So I resorted to manually going to the next. However doing this I have also had it sometimes mark the next video as complete and leave the last/current incomplete. Liking the content so far and the app is feature rich. Just seems like some bugs need to be ironed out.

I love Linux academy, been using it for a year now and have learned a lot! I only have one problem though, ever since the update to the player, the quality of the videos went down badly on my tablet, the videos are really blury, compared to my ipad where they are xrystal clear. Can you please enable video wuality on the new player for android?

Lost ability to zoom. With the latest update, i lost the ability to zoom the video in full screen mode. When playing in mobile phones, sometimes the content is too small to read. Having zoom feature is very important.

Not useful. The app doesn't let you download free courses for offline use. You have to go premium to download anything at all. The whole point of the app is to be able to learn on the go. Why not make the app allow you to download anything you have access to?

when I watch video in full screen mode on my mi 9t pro, the video is aligned to the left and not centered. some of the content at the top left corner was missing due to the curved at the edge of the screen

Chromecasting is buggy - Videos don't always play. Can't increase playback speed while casting. Videos don't automatically continue playing while casting, have to manually select each video to play while casting.

Can't sign in to the app. It says i have to login to the site on browser at least once. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Like Excellent course quality so excellent is app as well

Login not possible feed back not possible

Not able to find my Learning Path on the app.

Like the recent updates to the video player! But, autoplay stopped working for me. Please fix this

Not able to play anything on the player after I updated the app .. It's just stuck.. It was good in the earlier version

Contents are awesome.. but video player is not proper.. it spins multiple times and is not loading.. please fix....

Definitely NOT for the total beginner in linux, also to actually acess anything of use you have to upgrade. Took me all of 5 minutes to decide to uninstall this bogus app.

It's the best and specially when I don't have a signal I can download it and watch it later.

great app and awesome learning platform for the ever evolving IT world and technology

Love this app. Works great!

Everything is good but hand on lab player not working in OnePlus mobile

App usually don't syn properly with your schedule, The content is too small that you cannot use this app to go though the content. I would not recommend any one to go for linuxacadmey if you are using mobile app or small screen, you cannot have this app offline in PC , Windows. So good content is just failing because of poor delivery of content.

I really wanted to buy the subscription this friday sale but the price is too much , neither there are multiple payment options , emi options guys should think on this ...your content is great its the price structure where udemy beats you.

On launch, clicking the Login button immediately launches Chrome (regardless of default browser), which in turn requires agreeing to Chrome's Terms of Service to use. Can't even get past the login screen with anything else (i.e., Firefox). Surprising for a FOSS-admin tutorial site. EDIT: And yes, FF is the default browser. Goes Chrome regardless--even after clearing ALL default apps. Galaxy Tab, nothing exotic.

App doesn't work. Everytime I try to login, it says you have to login through website 1st time but after login website nothing changes only same notification. I can use website through browser but app nope. Ps. Thanks for fast response)))

The app is not functioning properly. Cannot install at once and the course videos also doesn't load. However the website is amazing.

Amazing courses. Amazing app.

Tried to use this app during my 40 minute long subway commute without access to the Internet but a weak cell signal at some stations. At the beginning of the travel, when the train stopped at the station and I've pressed check at the end of the video, this app logged me out. Tried to login but it was not possible without a good connection. When I've got connection again, the app even didn't ask the password! Just pressed at my account and it logged me in. Why was it necessary to prevent myself from using the app when it even did not asked my password again? So probably to use this app I have to intentionally switch network at my phone, to make the app think that there is no connection at all, and enable network access after using the app, this is inconvenient.

Amazing platform but should allow syncing the course/status of completion among devices connected to the account. The dashboard of my tablet contains different courses from the one on my smartphone.

When it worked it was great, but I absolutely cannot log in anymore. I get stuck in a log in loop and can't access content. I've uninstalled, cleared storage and cache, tried in a different user profile, etc. Completely useless for me at the moment. I'll be happy to update my review if it ever let's me log in again.

Perfect on the go learning. Definitely needs a button to force higher resolution since some of the text is very hard to read on mobile. Also, it could use a better synchronization rate for course progress between mobile and desktop site (sometimes the mobile app lags behind). Overall Linux Academy offers great support for their products and have already helped me in attaining my first cert for AWS. I highly recommend their services!

Logging in the app is absurd. It's the most ridiculous and needlessly complicated process. Uninstalled before even logging in. Quite possibly the most frustrating UX design possibly devised.

Pretty good. I'd like to be able to click the download button on a course and have it queue all unplayed lessons up to be downloaded when I'm next connected to WiFi (like Spotify, Pocket Casts, etc.). The current way of waiting till you're on WiFi and manually selecting each one is pretty old fashioned.

Great app for on the go learning with a whole load of content I would love to explore every last subject but in reality I don't think I could get through it all. Video play back is smooth and the instructor's use clear and to the point instructions for the content which is fantastic. There is a lot of support to help you through the subjects if you are struggling and they keep in touch with you and offer suggestions and to see how your progressing. All in all a great app and great people

The app is great. But the videos are extremely quite. Is there a way to increase the volume of the videos?

Can't log in. Setting up an account is an annoying circle jerk. "Need subscription to log in" that's cool, I hit the take me to website option, were I'm not able to make a subscription because I've registered my email address on the app, so the only thing I can do with that email address is merge it with another email address that already has an account. All I want to do is set up a subscription, but I can't do it because I made the mistake of setting up an account on the app first

Awesome app for learning latest technology. I have one suggestion. When we download video and set it to download externally, the videos still downloads on my phone storage and not on sd card or usb storage. The thing is I have low phone storage and want these videos to be on external drive. Can you just take a review on this. Thanks

Linux Academy resolved the issue and erything is running smoothly. thanks LA. ----‐----‐----------------------------------------------------- No matter how many times I reload a new password via web app - the server cannot authenticate the credentials. ironically no issues accessing database on PC, just with the phone app which effectively removes the point of subscribing for me, which is a shame b/c the course content is thorough & would def be useful on the go.

Great application to complement the learning experience while you are not in font of a computer. I suggest adding the ability to cast videos to streaming devices using chromecast compatible functionality, which I've found much valuable and useful in other educational apps I have used before.

Website going down on every Sunday or Saturday. Can you people fix the issue ASAP.

Good app but with several issues. Flash cards do not save progress. Progress of the videos warched offline do not sync properly. And some other.

Good content, but this app is horrible. Downloaded videos flat out do not play. Loads to 80-90% and freezes. It won't sync my progress with my account either. I'm halfway through a course and everytime I open the app I have to go searching through the full Linux academy library to continue where I left off.

Can not even login UPD: I accidentally tried to log in to my old acc which has no subscription. And then I can not get back to login prompt to type in credentials of an paid acc :( "go back to login" button doesn't work for me. UPD2: I've tried reinstalling, no effect for me :( Will wait for the future version then.

Can't login. The whole bouncing back and forth between the app and the web page is terrible but I would've put up with it if it would've at least worked. No idea how to crack that thing that should be so simple. Really wish it would have worked.

great app. expensive, but I'm getting very interesting aws lessons that can easily be cast to my TV for consumption. Edit 4-12-19: i went to take the AWS certified practitioner test and at least 30% were topics and specifics never touched upon by Linux academy's class. Fortunately i guessed correctly enough times to pass, but you shouldn't have to guess when you're getting 100% scores on all of the Linux academy tests.

Suddenly the app is not working, first tried cleaning the cache, then removing all the stored courses, then uninstalling and reinstalling app, still cannot download or open any course! Very same problem as indicated by the last reviewer but really disappointed to see a canned reply. Samsung S8+ with with Android 8.0.

Very slow and doesn't connect. This could be a great app to learn on the go but its so slow and doesn't work properly. I have the best internet connection to play hd videos but this doesn't even start the video

Everything works as expected, offline viewing is a great plus.

Horrible app, Good content. Just copy app from pluralsight.

This is really a great place to learn linux and cloud technologies. Only thing which i felt missing was, exercises were limited to desktop, as we atleast can't view the content of exercise to be done. :(

Good platform but I have one issue: I can't login if I don't have a valid subscription. How then can I access free content, LA please solve this problem. Other than that I would recommend Linux Academy for great courses!

Brilliant app. I'm heavily using it. Loved it. Only bug reported in recent version is, app logs you out immediately if your mobile device loses network (no service zone). That's quite irritating.

Putting the rate to 2 stars, will change it once user experience is meet or exceed expectations. 1. App doesnt allow to login, its an infinite loop. 2. Previously all my labs are not updating complete

The free courses doesn't load on mobile app. The same is working fine on laptop browser.

Cant open quizzes. "It says Error loading" Please fix this issue asap. I study using the app while traveling and i dont have any issues with offline mode but when it comes to quizzes i can't even open them.

why such bad/incorrect subtitles when you are delivering high quality study material otherwise!

very good platform for learning linux and other technologies, thank you LA! "Some functions are not working as expected, for example, when I tap on desired course app choose course which locates below :("

very poor app really. content is brilliant so putting up with it for now. It keep saying unabke to register device and loads more other issuss . Seriously guys, get your app sorted , it is quite basic.

even though la content is awesome but this app is really not justifying it and quality of navigation ui is poor at best. Today after latrst update doesn't even allow me to load videos which make the app worthless. Seriously I being a fan of Linux Academy, its hard to fathom such poor quality Mobile app.

All in all it's an amazing application, however I feel it lacks some offline features such as an offline mode in order to make sure no data is being used.

Can't seem to get by the Log In page. It directs you to an external browser which doesn't seem to feed back the successfull Log In information back to the App.

Android login issues. Able to log into the website via my iPad and laptop/desktop without any issues. Logging into my Android phone or tablet is where we have issues. Please fix.

good .. some features missing like ,autoplay and background play videos.

I was able to login on PC and with same credentials I was able to login into app too, but it is asking me to upgrade on mobile app. Because of this issue, I have access to content on PC but same videos are not playing on android app.

Great value and great content. Have been a subscriber for 5 years and it's been awesome to see the company grow in that time!

excellent! Linux academy have been doing a great job! the content is great and with the app you can learn from everywhere

Despite downloading videos, I do not seem to be able to consistently watch videos without a data connection.

Was working fine until today - stopped working. App has no record of my in-progress courses. Deleted, reinstalled, same issue.

I've downloaded the "Lambda Deep Dive" course to watch it offline, but the videos within the course has failed to load. Loading it online works, however.

Videos just spin and never load. Content is great on PC but this app is borderline not usable. Please fix this soon, I am using a tab s4 on a high speed connection so definitely not a device issue.

Great app. It would be great if it would show my notes from the course. Would help a lot for last minute prepping before exam!

minor glitches when switching out and back into app (blank screen) but overall a good experience.

not able to login. even i logged into browser.. but not able to use app. when this issue will be resolved?

just started with the mobile app for training; greatly appreciate the video content and its accessibility.

Not able to login. Don't know why the app uses an external browser to authenticate.. Bottom line is can't login to your portal.

It's great. It works almost perfect with, you Chromecast.

App keeps coming back to login page even after reinstalling, I like their courses but the app login needs improvement.

Good app... it would be great if scheduler is also available in the app, so that no need to login via desktop. thanks

Downloadable content is nice for flights - also nice to have ability to speed up the pace of the lessons

Fake freeware. Requires subscription to access anything meaningful. There is a free plan, but it is borderline useless.

Unable to sign up or log in.

Couldn't even sample the courses, it requires a paid subscription.

There is nothing like linux academy.i am linux academy member from last 2 years. contents are very good and we'll explained . I like the playground a lot and support team is also very quick and I can get my doubts clear with their help Thanks Linux academy ☺
