Language learning can be frustrating when you cannot remember a word that you have seen or learned before.
Also, it is not easy to find an exercise that is right for your level and can be done within minutes.
We know that feeling - Lingvist can help.

▸▸ Repetition
Like getting to know your neighbors, it’s okay to forget their names once or twice.
Lingvist AI tracks all the words that you find harder to remember, adjusts the frequency and timing of their appearance so you can remember their faces in a timely manner.
This is “spaced repetition” as we know it.

▸▸ Level Placement
Let the computers do the maths.
Lingvist dynamically analyses your learning progress and places you at a level with adequate familiarity and challenge.

▸▸ Customization
Remember sitting in classes that you have no interest in?
Lingvist designed themed decks for you, choose a topic and dive right in.
Still can’t find what you want? Create your own* decks from words, texts or even an image!
(*Currently available for French and Spanish courses)

▸▸ Context
Even the word “negative” can have positive meanings in some situations.
Lingvist provides context sentences with translations to help you better understand how to use what you learned.

▸▸ Portability
Data is saved and synchronized across web and mobile platforms.
Make the most out of your commutes by using Lingvist on your phone, however, our data shows that you learn 30% faster on your (laptop) computer. Make sure you give our web app a shot.

▸▸ Voice Input
Free your hands and do some push-ups while you’re at it. Why not?

If you have made it this far, we should let you know that Lingvist also offers:

▸▸ 5000+ practical vocabulary per language course
▸▸ Virtual voice playback
▸▸ List of learned vocabulary with example sentences

The story of Lingvist began when our CEO, Mait Müntel, failed to communicate with Swiss train station staff in French and consequently missed his last train home.

In order to break the language barrier and never miss a train again, Mait went on to build a team of 40+ linguists, scientists, and developers, combining the latest research in machine learning with industry-leading language courses and aiming to make the process of language learning ten times faster.

To support users from all over the world, Lingvist is available in 11 different languages: English, eesti, Français, русский, Deutsch, Español, Português, 日本語, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

Impossible to make any progress after 4000 words. There are so many words need to be repeated every day, that if you want to spend 30 minutes a day to study 50 cards, you end up repeating old words. And God forbids to take a few days off, you will be sitting on a pile of Words at risk till the end of your life. Rediculous algorithm, please revise. Hire beta testers, maybe, or write a simulator. PS. I don't want your support to look at my data. I am reporting my experience. Look at your algo.Thx

apparently my review was deleted, hmm anyway, terrible app. why can't we glide type??? i have a glide keyboard (google keyboard) and i don't want to type words by clicking each separate letter key like in iphone because I'm not a caveman. ALSO, can't use voice typing either. Duolingo lets me do both. uninstalled because i don't like wasting my time. as for developer response about "putting skills to the test" regarding predictive glide typing, just LOL. you glide over the letters of the word!!

App looks fine, but not having a placement test is a huge deterrent to learning and I'm not interested in grinding through basic vocabulary all the way to intermediate or advanced vocabulary.

Great user friendly app for learning words in your target language. It would be nice to have more languages to choose from.

Easily one of the best language apps on the app store, and I used it every day when it was free. Now, the price is a huge deterent. I would love to get back into this app, but at $15/month it just isn't sustainable. I'd happily pay $5/month for this app long term. You guys have constructed an excellent platform that actually builds vocab, grammar understanding, and helps retention, and I would hate to see the user base dwindle because of the price tag.

I love this app as a vocabulary builder for Spanish. What i care most: 1) enough vocabularies (I got 5000 most frequent words to start with, which is a lot more than what's offered by most of other apps) 2) a good algo that makes sure I actually learn the word in the long run (with Duoligo for example, old learned words do not reappear, so I would pass the level, and 3 months later forget about the words) 3) good UX Its not perfect but you've got a great product, keep it up!!

This app has potential to be really good. However, it lacks enough content. For example, it has 7 languages. As I native speaker of English, if you remove the Latin Spanish and English as an option, that narrows it to 5 options. I'd recommend adding other languages like Italian or the Scandinavian languages or perhaps Dutch. Hopefully they'll update the app and add new languages to it.

Really good for learning new vocabulary that goes beyond the usual textbook word lists, but what really stands out with Lingvist is how thoughtfully the app is being developed. Each update has significantly improved the learning experience - it is obvious that the developers are listening to feedback and actually care about making it better. A very high-quality, learning-focused app. 5 stars.

Many years ago when the app was free I used it to learn English, my English is now fluent and I also learned to speak Spanish, so this app has a special place in my memory, now, years later I returned to it since I saw it offers more languages specifically German, so I went to try it and it now only works with an expensive subscription, truly a shame, while I understand the need for profit in order to improve, an expensive subscription isn't the right way in my opinion, best of luck to the team

Very useful app! Thank you! I have some notes: 1. Sometimes app suggest to me very easy words which not related with my level 2. I suppose some words such as capitals of countries (London for example) or IT abbreviations (CD, RAM, CPU and etc) should be excluded depends by level. 3. I would like to see more relevant translation of words.
